Alright. I lied. Russia is not on the ropes. But that is not keeping the media presstitutes from trying to do their part as 21st Century Clothos. They are the masters of creating and directing the narrative, which is predetermined in their mythological world. Ukraine wins and Russia loses. Real simple.
Once again the NY Times is front and center with a new (and hilarious) spin on Ukraine’s inevitable march to victory.–With New Weaponry, Ukraine Is Subtly Shifting Its War Strategy:
Despite suffering grievous losses over nearly six months of war, Russia still holds a distinct advantage over Ukraine in a head-to-head fight featuring brutal artillery battles. But Ukraine’s military has achieved some new battlefield success, waging the war on its own terms.
Supplied with a growing arsenal of long-range Western weapons and aided by local fighters known as partisans, Ukraine has been able to hit Russian forces deep behind enemy lines, disrupting critical supply lines and, increasingly, striking targets that are key to Moscow’s combat potential. . . .
The strategy seems to be producing some results. While the Ukrainian military has not made major territorial gains, it has managed to slow the Russian advance across the country, for now, at least, and stanch the heavy losses Ukraine was suffering in recent months, which had led to wavering morale and some soldiers even deserting their platoons.
But the Russians have continued to apply pressure in the east and the south on Ukrainian frontline positions, with some that are slowly buckling. The incremental advances have indicated that despite setbacks from Ukraine’s attacks, the Russian military effort still has enough forces to continue offensive operations.
What is worse than putting lipstick on a pig? Putting lipstick on a corpse. On the very day that the NY Times “reports” that Russia is struggling to advance, Russia took the town of Pesky, which sits at a key junction west of Donetsk. Having secured control of Pesky, the Russians are in a much stronger position to take all Ukrainian territory up to the Dnieper River.
The plight of the Ukrainian troops remains desperate notwithstanding HIMMARS activity. Here’s a recent post from Vladimir Rekhesha who was deployed to Pesky:

Looks like moral is still wavering and the frustration is growing:
Ukrainian troops are warned that if they surrender to the Russians they will be tortured and murdered. The following video does not appear to be staged. It shows Ukrainian troops that have surrendered to Russia’s Somalia Battalion. They are hunkered down in a trench when Ukraine starts to shell the position. Rather than leave the captives to die, the Russian commander orders his men to hustle them into a nearby bunker.
Lastly, there is the Chutzpah award. Vladimir Zelensky is the winner and it is not because he is Jewish. Russia holds the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant, the largest in Europe. Yet, according to Zelensky, Russia is shelling itself and putting its troops, who are guarding the plant, at risk. That is some serious chutzpah my friends.
Volodymyr Zelenskiy warns Russian troops against shooting from nuclear plant; . . . Ukraine says it will target Russian soldiers who shoot at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant or use it as a base to shoot from, as both sides again accused the other of shelling the facility. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Saturday that Russian soldiers who shot at the plant or used it as cover would become a “special target”, Reuters reported. He repeated accusations that Moscow was using the plant – Europe’s largest – as nuclear blackmail. The exiled mayor of the town where the plant is located in south-eastern Ukraine said it had come under fresh shelling.
Zelensky, with the urging of his western puppet masters, is pushing the threat of a nuclear holocaust as a last ditch effort to try to stall the Russian advance. Russia has made it clear that they are not going to submit to such blackmail. I suspect this is one of the stories that will dominate the meme in the coming week.
The info warriors bad mouthing Russia equate battlefield losses with territory. These are two completely different things. WW1 – lots of battlefield losses with a small amount of turf changes.
If Russia is doing well then they will be content with the status quo as long as Ukraine keeps throwing men and equipment away. Once Ukraine stops doing that, then I expect to see a sudden Russian advance. Regardless of whether I am right or wrong about this, my original point still stands. ‘territory is not troop losses’.
I agree. The Russians long ago could have massed in ANY area, broke through in multiple breaches of Ukrainian lines, and blossomed out into the Ukrainian rear, which will eventually happen in the South where RUSSIAN Mobile Tactical Groups are building. But this is an Operation. LPR/DPR forces are the ones doing 80% of the fighting themselves. Russia is in a support role helping them to SANITIZE all the territory taken. Those Ukrainian positions will need to be SANITIZED as well so they are doing just that, which takes time.
I expect Phase 3 will be Russian forces alone punching through in the south using armor heavy MTGs to push west and use the Dnieper river as a form of flank protection. It will also make Ukrainian forces go the long way around if they wanted to shift forces to the south. A group will establish a blocking line in the WEST with the Dnieper as an right flank anchor. Another group can then push up and trap Ukrainian forces against the Dnieper as a third drops down on Odessa. Just the way an old tank commander THINKS he sees it.
What they like to do is equate any UKR tactical success (or sub-tactical success) with a strategic success. That is because, I think, the goal of the people in the West pushing the war is not a strategic victory – they know it’s not going to happen. Rather, to prolong the war for as long as possible and “bleed” Russia in every way. Notice there is never mention of UKR losses? Those pawns don’t even count for the war mongers.
So while we sane rational people observe Russia’s slow, steady grinding advance and strategic victories and note that Russia is winning by gaining and holding territory and reducing UKR forces such that UKR regaining lost territory is impossible, the Russia hating war mongers are merely looking Russian losses during the process because that is all that counts for them at this point. Two totally different – and largely irreconcilable – perspectives.
Sounds completely logical to me as a non- military layman.
That son of a bitch, zelenski! Who is he playing for? The ukranians soldiers? That fucking comedian and puppet doesn’t care about ukranian people!
He no doubt worships money.
And the white stuff
Hope the EU realises radiation “blowing in the wind” knows no boarders.
Who dropped two nukes on civilians?
Kiev needs to think about that, as the narrative is maintained and promoted.
Tell us all Larry how the 1% survive the after effects of a nuclear holocaust. It would be an educational moment on how they spend their billions in a underground bunker eating 200 years worth of instant chicken noddles. ( after 3 months there is no water, gas or toilet paper left.) Do they eat the servants first or family members? That is the question that has consequences.
Should pretend a nuke strike so they all rush their bunkers – then concrete them in.
Genius.
They will eat the family members first, of course, Because otherwise said family members might end up eating them!
Peski had like 2000 ppl before war…at this rate will be longer than 100 years war. Several centuries according to this Russian col.
https://m-vk-com.translate.goog/wall701885602_12492?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-US&_x_tr_pto=wapp
You care to place a bet on that prediction?
I’m in with you Larry. Seems like a good bet.
from a neutral standpoint, it looks like the progress is slowing down- though it is likely partly due to the toughness of the fortifications.
assuming the reports are true- some of the rockets did strike some RUS ammo depots, bridges at kherson, planes at crimea… thereby slowing down the RUS to some extent.
secondly, the strikes in donetsk region by the UKRs could also similarly be at RUS military targets / command points. i.e. similar to what RUS rocket/missile strikes did in UKR civilian areas.
im not saying that RUS civilian victims of UKR rockets are fake (neither is the reverse)- just stating how much we can know without being on the field.
doesnt mean that UKR is winning, just that they got some little punches in.
one thing ive noticed is that reports seem to center on Putin- the west seems to be painting the picture that this is all Putin’s view, as though RUS as a country does not have a legitimate security interest.
What part of Russia is taking this SMO at a slow pace to minimise as much civilian casualties as possible.
Actually they have cracked the toughest fortification West of Donesk city and are moving methodically against lightly armed conscripts with very little artillery support. Ukraine is moving whats left of their trained soldiers East to new positions.
The famous plains lay ahead and open tank country. When they absorb a large area or a large city they have to slow down to de mine and accept the surrenders of those left behind. A block by block search ensues to secure the area.
Also this is largely trench warfare. I have seen drone videos of Russians jumping into trenches cleaning them out. Quite a scary venture.
The Russians also rotate units on a regular basis for a few weeks rest so that slows them down as well. Ukrainians tough resistance is also slowing them down and we must not discount that aspect. It is a fools errand pushed by the Western powers and they will fail miserably just like some of the other conflicts we push.
To state that progress is slowing down, requires you to know what the planned rate was. Are you privy to knowledge of the Russian command? I thought not.
So you are stating that progress is slowing down compared to the rate you thought things should progress. And you have better information than Russian General Staff? I thought not.
Are you a concern troll?
“… some of the rockets did strike some RUS ammo depots, bridges at kherson, planes at crimea”
Agreed. HIMARs are a good weapon. 1. accurate from a long distance and 2. move very quickly to avoid counter-battery fire. In any serious conflict, there is always one surprise weapon / tactic.
Is this going to win the war for Ukraine? no.
This is an opportunity for Russia to develop new tactics in relatively controlled circumstances. Ukraine only has a handful of these systems and Russia can protect key positions w/their air defenses. I’m glad to see that Russia actually is doing deals w/Iran rather than falling into the NIH syndrome (Not Invented Here)
That corrupt little POS Zelenski better be really careful in forcing Russia to take just one glove off.
Somalia Battalion is a DPR Militia unit not a Russian Army unit.
i am very curious how this battalion is called Somalia. anybody knows it?
Because thhey fought like somalis. Givi was its main and recognized commander
Back during 2014/5 when they fought back against the Ukr govt, they were a ragtag bunch, barely equipped with weapons. Someone commented they fought like Somalia militias and the nickname stuck.
The Ukrainian untrained increasingly older (40s and up) soldiers are like a turkey shoot for russian artillery. “It comes from every direction 24 hours a day”.
What angers and me is the US is sending $10 billion a month to pay salaries pensions food stamps free medical care you name it. I’ve seen videos of Kiev and they look like the yuppies are living the good life cafe life in Lviv has never been better.. Russia should cut off the electricity for starters. Shut down Zelenski drug den zoom.
Zelensky had a zoom meeting with some EU group in Denmark yesterday where he told them to sanction the raw materials for shells so the Russians would have to stop bombing the Enerhoday plant. I watched his face closely as he says this — the cocaine nasal quality of his voice is mostly covered up with the translators over voice. He’s an actor so it’s not that hard for him. He is a tad too robotic with the emotions.
Life has never been more prosperous for these parasites. Nothing Russia can do but make it less secure and comfortable for them. You can see their glib comfortable expressions are awash in US cash flowing in.
I have just been in Vienna. You certainly see high end UA plated cars. Not huge numbers but they are noticeable. Driven by males.
Clear therefore that not every Ukrainian is back there sitting in a trench desperately but enthusiastically fighting Russians. I am fine with that: I would not choose to do so either and war is just horrible.
But by the same token I reject the total lying and hypocrisy from all western governments that try to tell us that all Ukrainians are desperate to fight.
As with most wars, I suspect that most of the people getting killed are those who have no choice. Easy to let other people fight. Our governments are simply evil. There is no other description of them that fits the facts. They need to broker peace not keep ramping up war. They disgust me.
Larry watch it
Disgusting comment unrelated to reality.
Think about whether you actually even know any jew in russia or ukraine, to support this trope.
The russians ar in no hurry.
Ukraine takes massive losses of equipment and upwards of 500 casualties per day. They are driving the injured away on 20 year old civilian vehicles at this point. No ammo. No food or fresh water. No medicines. No proper training. Unclear command lines. Zero coordination. Just general chaos.
But they are according to the western media fighting the russian federation on their own terms? Sure..
I think Russia is more than happy to hit them hard from a distance. Why disturb the flow of enemies walking over a cliff willingly so to speak?
Some clues for the clueless. Russia is destroying men and weapons, alot of them, everyday. If the lines do not move 1 inch tremendous progress is being made with Ukraine being demilitarized and nato being bankrupted and disarmed having sent their weapon and ammo reserves to Ukraine to be captured or destroyed. When the breaking point comes Russia can walk to the Polish border unimpeded to begin the next phase, pushing nato out of Eastern Europe.
The Ukrainian regime is already clearly a terrorist state, the attacks on nuclear plants, dangerous chemical industries, etc., leave no doubt about it, how will Russia deal with a terrorist state?
This individual, Zelensky, belonging to the brotherhood of Judaism, an ideology that according to their own doctrinal books, Talmud, consider the ‘gentiles’ animals and declare opprobrium against Christ and his followers, already has an enormous fortune and properties here in the USA, don’t the Russians think that this madman might be able to leave the region wrapped in a radioactive cloud that would move, according to experts, in a probable direction towards Russia, and flee himself to America? What is Russia waiting for to act?
Larry, the NYT report you mock – like most of that rag’s reports since the denazification of Mariupol – seems to me to be a classic example of ‘limited hangout.’
In March, the Russians were ‘running out of ammo, low on morale’ and defeat was imminent. Now, the Russians have suffered ‘grievous losses’ but Ukrainian defenses are ‘slowly buckling,’ even though the Ukronazis have ‘slowed the Russian advance’ and are ‘waging war on their own terms’ with partisan sabotage in the Russian rear (which in fact, looks negligible in both scale and frequency).
Sounds to me like CIA is gradually trying to shift the narrative to prepare those who actually read their fish-wrappers for the impending Ukrainian collapse.
The report reinforces a couple of already inescapable conclusions:
[1] With respect to Russia and Ukraine, NYT and WaPo are just stenographers for the ‘intelligence community.’ Nothing more or less.
[2] The term ‘intel community’ requires sneer quotes, because aside from signals intercepts and satellite image interpretation, we no longer seem to collect intelligence in Russia. I suspect that’s because we just can’t, because we have no assets there. Worse, maybe CIA thinks it has assets, but in fact their mission is to tell CIA what VVP wants them to hear.
[3] It follows – and indeed it’s been plain for years – that Kremlin and Red Army decision-making are just a big black box to US officials. CIA’s principle mission today is domestic psy-ops (like this one) because that’s all they CAN do.
Jmj59,
I conclude similar to you wrt humint Russia/former Sov. world,
In Afghanistan, the US definitely had humint, and screwed the pooch intel wise – clearly believing the Afghan govt’ could stand long enough to avoid embarrassment. Its hard to imagine that given the amount of horse-trading the Taliban did with local warlords to set up a rapid transition the US had info.
This points to a more fundamental problem of (IMO) mass formation in the intel community. If correct the chance of a nuclear incident and followup war are higher than if accurate intel was being correctly assessed by political leaders.
Its singing to the choir, so for those who believe Larry is objective try this succinct summary.

The statements from above prove they really do not care about democracy, justice or any type true morality.
First thing that really bugs me is the sanctions of individuals just for being Russian. No warrant, no trial just seizure.
Secondly the ability to pull of White Helmets ruses over and over again.
Third the universal nature of the correct messaging. Its not just the US Media, its all the western media unquestioning things like Russia shelling a power plant it has controlled since Feb.
Given the forgiving nature of the holi poli, it seems we will continue down the path of ignorance until we are so lost there is no finding.
“…. it has managed to slow the Russian advance across the country, for now, at least, and stanch the heavy losses Ukraine was suffering in recent months, which had led to wavering morale and some soldiers even deserting their platoons…..”
Well that kinda blows a hole in the narrative. I predict a settlement sometime after the fall election, probably right after that start of the winter offensive that can’t actually be launched for all the reasons the NYT has been telling us about for months.
Russians arent hampered by the Russian winter. Its the armies from warmer climes that invade Russia and the USSR that take it up the ass from “Dyed Moroz” .. Grandpa Frost (Russians are so unintimidated by their winter, they actually give it cute nicknames)
Also, the winters in most of Ukraine are tempered slightly by proximity to Black Sea, so it wont be the same as Gates of Moscow or even Stalingrad. No, the weather phenomenon that slows things down are the seasonal rains in autumn that turn everything into a sea of mud (the rasputitsa)
The West has gone nuclear with the shelling of the reactor power plant.
Dirty bomb nuclear. Battle field nuclear. Now meeting the definition most ascribe to WW3. How Russia will respond will be most significant given this escalation. Larry, you are right, this will change everything going forward.
This is next level shit.
Zhelensky reminds me of Comical Ali back when Iraq was invaded. Both guys missed out on great careers writing for NYTimes and WAPO.
We have been witnessing for 8 days the definitive moral collapse of the western ruling world. American & European support – sneaky or passive – for the suicidal game of the Kievan army with the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, relayed by the media⬇️1/n

Military Summary noted in his Sunday report that Ukraine took even heavier casualties then usual last week. Peski is in Russian hands and critical for upcoming Russian plans. Also the Russians gained and regained areas near Kharov which he says they have to secure the access around Kharov before winter.
Military Summary has a 7 day/week report on Rumble and Youtube .
Good grief, USA News has fresh stories on how Russia is losing …
https://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2022-08-15/putin-boasts-of-russian-weapons-prowess-says-moscow-is-ready-to-share-it-with-allies
They are quoting ‘western military analysts’ claiming that Russia’s performance has been so bad that no one is going to buy their weapons. And no, they did not mention the hypersonic missile strike near Lvov that killed hundreds of western volunteers at a training camp (but one example)
Why don’t the RUF raze the north bank so that reactor is safe from M777. The reactor is being shelled as I write this as reported on many TG chs, where is the counter battery fire???
About our mad ‘green’ politicos in Europe:
If it were only economic hardship for the population that resulted from their policies, that would be bad enough. But by foolishly and ignorantly baiting the Russian bear and trying to inflict maximum damage on the Russian economy, which is a policy that has “Greens” written all over it, the party and its leadership are pointing Europe to what may yet become a pan-European conflagration that spins out of control.

Forget kievan rus, this is kievan banditry.
The wild, chaotic history of the region is heavily characterised by banditry. And reading the history will help one understand the way things seem to work there.
i’ve always loved the symbolism of a battalion named in honor of somalians taking out banderists. it’s a shame givi is gone since leaders who truly understand race and spirit are rare these days.
The WaPo, NYT and like, they do tell the truth, at the same time when they say lies.
“Despite suffering grievous losses over nearly six months of war, Russia still holds a distinct advantage over Ukraine in a head-to-head fight featuring brutal artillery battles. But Ukraine’s military has achieved some new battlefield success, waging the war on its own terms.”
Except for very first sentence, the rest of the text is not incorrect. We can see that:
– Ukrainians keep “suffering grievous loses”
– Russia still (as it was before) holds a “distinct advantage in head to head fighting” featuring
– advantage is in artillery and brutal artillery battles
So yes, they do tell truth in the body of the paragraph. They lie only in first and last sentences. Humans, especially semi literate read just titles, i.e. first sentences and skip the rest. In case reader goes through the body, there is final sentence to wake them up from belief that actually one side is way more successful then the other. The truth in the middle is rather general. For concrete events, well, they will appear buried in he deep of some text, few days/weeks/months later. Pretty simple tricks to produce positive spin.
Belief that Ukr. army chased RF off Kiev, vs. feint maneuver, is very dangerous – RF can repeat it on the NATO and West themselves. Otherwise, they will never learn.
