I have had the honor and privilege of being interviewed by and chatting with Gonzalo Lira during the course of the last year. He is a witty, entertaining and brave raconteur. My understanding is that he is a dual citizen, holding a Chilean and United States passport. Hopefully Ukrainian officials will come to their senses and realize that arresting/detaining Gonzalo simply reinforces a growing realization in the West that Ukraine is under the thumb of neo-Nazi thugs.
Kudos to Brian Berletic for providing a nice, factual summary debunking the charges leveled against Gonzalo.
I usually listen to the information given by Gonzalo. He is one of few journalists showing the facts from Ukraine and the geopolitical effects in the world.
Gonzalo deserve and must be free
Yes
There is more to this than meets the eyes and ears. He was disappeared earlier on in the conflict nobody knew what happened to him and then he miraculously reappered chipper and happy. And he went on about his business of trashing his hosts. By trashing I am not defending the hosts, I am just stating what he does. So why was he disappeared? Why was he released? Why was he allowed to continue? And obviously, why has he been re-arrested? Hmmm….
Never underestimate the stupidity of the Ukrainians.
The ‘hosts’ are famously corrupt, maybe he just paid them off.
It was in their interests to leave him the hell alone, since the entire conceit of the West is that Ukraine is just another Liberal Democracy.
Well they done fucked up now. If Ukraine is so afraid of a few bloggers and vloggers, that their spies target them for arrest and death, how confident are they really?
I hope I’m wrong, but if they’re this stupid, I think this indicates they’re going to do something even stupider on the 9th. In the event that they do, pray that the Russians exercise restraint.
How much restraint to expect the Russians to exercise? I think they have been too soft for far too long.
But then of course the Russians are no doubt apprised of facts which I am not, so maybe there is good reason for what seems to me to be their over-inclination to exercise too much restraint.
That has been their order of battle from the beginning of the SMO. They espoused that they would destroy completely the Ukrainian military. The Ukrainians have played right into the Russian’s hands by feeding brigade after brigade into the maw of Bakhmut. They are not showing restraint Sir, they have all the time in the world.
They may be that stupid, but what does that say about the Russians?
How does it reflect on them if they have great difficulty defeating such a stupid adversary?
The Russians have had difficulty defeating the Ukie? Really? Which of the three armies Kiev has put forward? Certainly not the first two. Moscow beat the bloody shyte out of both. Now they’re fielding their third and the smart money says invest in coffin and flag manufacturing. Oh, and florist shops are also a good bet.
They are not Russian adversary. USA/EU are. Russians having great difficulty defeating USA/EU should not come as a surprise. Ukrainians are stupid for drinking way to much Kool-Aid, and that can be very deadly.
This question has been answered many time Ahe:
A. Ukes dug in like nobodies business since at least 2015,
B. Putin has been very careful to not get his soldiers killed unnecessarily,
C. Urban fighting can kill innocent citizens, who are considered Brother Slavs,
D. Russia is content to kill the Uke Army in stationary battle, not blitz thru like Patton.
E. NATO keeps arming the Ukes and U.S. gives them billions.
So if you were expecting conventional wars with territory gained and all that jazz then that’s why you asked your question.
A couple of scenarios come to mind: 1) corruption – maybe Gonzalo paid some SBU honcho “protection” fees to let him do his thing. This would be dangerous but doable because this is Kharkov and SBU never had a firm grip on this Russian speaking city and region. Note that the city bureau chief, Roman Dudin, relieved last May, is in jail charged with treason. 2) (more likely:) SBU closely monitored Gonzalo and gathered intelligence on his contacts. Once they felt they mapped his full network, they nabbed him. Maybe this was the plan all along and Gonzalo was aware. It does not mean Gonzalo was co-operating in this SBU operation, but such possibility cannot be excluded.
Or their puppet masters in Washington for that matter
I think he is cointelpro for the ukies. As someone else already commented, they mapped out his network and now they are mopping up. As an aside I am totally biased because I cant stand that MF.
What network?
He gives out his thoughts on videos people who find it logical and sensible they watch his videos occasionally commenting about the various aspects, either agreeing with him or pointing out their own views. Mostly people from around the world living their own middle class lives.
Nothing is to be gained by knowing them nor is Ukraine some kind of all powerful james bond villan type organisation.
Their reach is in mainly where Ukrainians can blend in as Russians ie mainly in Russia.
/Never underestimate the stupidity of the Ukrainians./
They couldn’t figure out how to cut Gonzalo’s internet cable and keep him from communicating with the outside world? As they did here:
Ecuador Disconnects Julian Assange From The Internet
https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2018/03/28/597695729/ecuador-disconnects-julian-assange-from-the-internet
(sigh)
Never, ever underestimate your enemy, either: It could prove your downfall, and in Gonzalo`s case, it sadly has.
Or their brutality…
He had just done a video about how he’d foregone earning at least $2.5 million by not siding with Ukraine. I thought it was a bit strange and the timing now, even stranger. I wonder if someone had been pressuring him, UA? US? both – to play ball and he passed on the offer and outlived his hopes for usefulness.
Maybe efforts were made to groom him all along and why he was relatively free to do his thing. Could be.
Of could be Ritter’s been right all along, and he’s been a US/UA asset all along. Can’t see how though, just doesn’t ring clean.
Gonzalo Lira is holding both a Chilean and US passport.
When Russia entered Ukraine, Gonzalo did not flee because the Ukrainians were making roadblocks and stealing people’s belongings before they were allowed to flee. So he decided to stay.
Why was he disappeared the first time?
Gonzalo was arrested by the Ukrainian SBU because that is what Fascist Regimes does, and that is what the Ukrainian NAZI Regime has been doing to all political opposition and dissidents in Ukraine, since its Maidan coupe in 2014.
The Ukrainian SBU is operating like the NAZI Gestapo.
Why was he released?
The SBU may have felt compelled by the WH, to release Gonzalo because his arrest went viral on the internet, and started to hit mainstream news in western Nations. This threatened to expose the Zelesky Government as a fascist Regime, a predicate which would collide with the argument for Western Governments to finance the Zelensky Government: you know “supporting democracy” in Ukraine.
However, when he was released the Ukrainian SBU forbade him to leave Krakow.
Why was he allowed to continue his rants?
He was allowed to continue his dissident rants against the NAZIs in Ukraine because it gave the US + NATO and Zelensky a small mask of democracy.
Why has he been re-arrested?
This time the US +NATO and Zelensky no longer cares for losing the mask of Democracy because they know that they are going to lose their proxy war in Ukraine, and the money gig will be up.
There is no longer any reason to pretend to be democratic, so they might as well go full NAZI.
Gonzalo said in his last cast, the “Daily Beast” is the enemy, including the Neo-Nazis in the US.
Gonzalo is on the Ukrainian NAZI death lists, and on league with Julian Assange.
Washington uses dissidents and whistle blowers to faint its last vestige of democracy by not killing them, but torturing them in prisons overseas, where the American public will not hear their screams.
a small mask of democracy
That’s exactly right. Washington coaches Zelensky’s regime to not be TOO aggressive in order to at least try to maintain some plausible deniability of the neo-nazi narrative.
Truth of the matter, were the SBU not somewhat restrained by such demands, it would easily go full Gestapo and then some, not just 3/4.. No need to look further than the Trade Center crowds in 2014 yelling ‘We have to kill them all’ to understand it’s from the leaders of these crowds that the SBU, military and regime in toto are drawn. There can be no compromise with such. Eight years of Minsk rejections and subterfuge proved that beyond a shadow of doubt.
What the West should fear the most in the long run is that contrary to the West’s narrative of ‘supporting democracy in Ukraine’ (strange as it may seem after its overthrowing democracy in 2014), it’s becoming more a ‘Ukraine turning the US and EU into images of itself as totalitarian states.’
The word you want to use is “feint” — which is frequently used in military histories for diversion … eg In 1940, The Wehrmacht used their invasion of Belgium as a feint to draw the Anglo French armies into Belgium. At which point, the main attack came thru the Ardennes forest and cut the Allies off at Dunkirk
Washington’s calls for ‘the triumph of democracy’ both domestically and internationally, is cloaked in a veil of saran wrap. Little wonder that it’s becoming the favorite topic of political cartoonists worldwide.
So you have to groom the same person who is already your asset?
Then you have to make a further offer to someone who is already your asset?
Man you are making a lot of sense today.
He stated after his initial detention that the reason he was going to continue manning the megaphone was so that he would stay in the public eye and this would make it harder for the Ukrainians to disappear him later without anybody noticing. Sensible.
Added to that, he was put on at least one of their death lists and therefore had extra incentive to stay active and loud — worsening the potential optics of him being knocked off.
Hopefully the authorities will do the smart thing and deport him after a show trial. But how smart are they?
Had I been Gonzalo I would have got out of Ukraine after first arrest and release. I would never have tempted fate the way he did given how the truth he was revealing was so antithetical to the Ukraine Nazi government agenda. I could not figure why the Ukraine gangsters allowed him to broadcast for as long as they did after his first arrest.
I was further troubled due to the fact that he stated how he recently had a child to his wife who I think was Ukraine. At least he had the good sense to make sure they were out of Ukraine. Having wife and child should have been his primary concern for getting out in my opinion.
We must hope and pray that they will release him at which time I trust better sense will prevail and he will get out of there.
The way Third world police States work they bail out those who they have very little evidence on. The idea is they can kill them in what is variously called shoot out, encounter out of public view.
Story goes like this. He tried jumping bail and was killed as police approached him( usually some remote location at night) or a vehicle was stopped at night in a routine police check point and they fired at the check point instead of stopping, return fire killed the occupants of the vehicle. It turned out the occupant of the vehicle was this guy.
The so called informal house arrest with his passport confiscated was most likely bait for Gonzalo Lira to escape and be killed or arrested for it.
Fortunately he did not take the bait. They would have had his phone tapped, informers tracking his movement.
As you know the borders of Ukraine are closed and it’s extremely risky to attempt bribing your way out.
Some very interesting points you have made Sir. I had not thought about Gonzalo’s passport having been confiscated. I will have to ponder your comment further.
Gonzalo’s additional problem was also that he spoke neither Russian nor Ukrainian.
I always thought that was a bad decision not to learn the language of the country that he lived in for multiple years (8 if memory serves me).
Had he known the language, he may had an easier time escaping out of the country.
If he is still a US citizen, the best strategy would had been to go to the American embassy and ask for help to get him out. Make it public knowledge too, so that it is politically difficult for the embassy not to assist him.
My understanding was that Gonzalo’s passports were not returned to him after his initial release.
He wasn’t allowed out after first arrest. They had him under surveillance. He got his ex wife (ukrainian) and son out. He literally made a decision to stay behind and suffer whatever while reporting on things. He literally did an interview right before his arrest talking about it. Lol. http://coffeeandamike.com/gonzalo-lira-600/
> Having wife and child should have been his primary concern for getting out in my opinion.
Hard disagree. If old men of wisdom don’t stand up who will the rest of us follow? No, our unwillingness to risk everything is being used as a weapon against us.
We will all hang together or we shall surely hang separately.
Since he has a U.S. passport, I suggest we all call the U.S. State Department and leave messages for the Secretary of State Antony Blinken. He is directly the responsible party to secure the release of Gonzalo Lira from the Ukraine prison.
(202) 647-6575.
Message must be left for Antony Blinken.
After they arrested him the first time, they forbade him to leave. Since he’s a foreign national, what stopped them from simply expelling him? That’s – well, used to be – what you do to immigrants who misbehave. The truth is Ukrainians are cretinous delusional popular culture nazis, down to their SBU mimicking the Gestapo. The last nine years are full of evidence for that assertion.
It even goes back further than that, to 2004 and Yushchenko’s election (on the second try, via US intervention) and Tymoshenko’s hobnobbing with all the banderite factions, to garner their support.
In all honesty, US meddling and support of neo-nazi Ukrainians has been going on since 1991 and even well before that, back to 1945 with the USSR, which I can at least understand but after 1991, it lost any legitimacy whatsoever other than as a pure hegemony play, with Crimea the brass ring.
The only solace I can derive from it all is watching in decades long slow motion as the US takes a rabid animal under its tunic and is being slowly eviscerated as a result (karma if you will). Being a born and bred westerner, I struggle with seeing that as some perverse sense of solace every waking morning. My secondary solace only being that I’m not alone in struggling with that dilemma.
The only negative thing I noticed about Gonzalo was his YouTube page. I was being shadow-banned there almost from the onset and that caused my naturally suspicious self to have some doubts and I stress that I am fully AWARE that it is indeed the content creator and not Google who does it as I have tried this test on a number of YouTube channels. In synthesis, I’ve developed this practice as a litmus test to identify who may not be what they project themselves to be. Apart from that, I underwrote nearly 95% of what Gonzalo said. Interestingly though, reports were coming in that he had actually left Ukraine and was living in Southern Europe somewhere. To note, if you were following him the last few months, you could see that he was doing his videos from an external balcony set up. Well, the stucco pattern on that balcony is not what would be typical of Ukraine, but more in line with what you see in Southern Italy, the major Italian islands and Greece. Believe it or not, I have even the same color and stucco pattern on my house that he had which is near the 36° parallel in the Med. My house is actually further south than Tunis.
Wtf are you talking about? I watch everything from him (on YouTube anyway) and I’ve never once seen him on an external balcony or seen a balcony behind him. He’s diligent about having nothing but a blank wall behind him. It’s been a year since he did a walk around in Kharkov, lest he leave some hint of his location. Obviously the SBU has known where he lives, but he’s tried to shield his location from any additional crazies.
Didn’t anyone notice the multiple fist shakes the desk concierge gave the SBU as they entered? Of course his whereabouts were known to the public at large. He was allowed to operate (and protected from assassination) by order of higher ups for some unknown reason….maybe thinking Ukrainian dissidents attempting to contact him would be revealed and such benefits finally being outweighed by the negatives. This story is just beginning.
I’ve noticed a fist bump. The whole thing looked surreal. They’ve sent a platoon of soldiers to arrest an old man in pyjamas, instead a postman with a notice. The only thing missing was that Sarah Ashton-Cirillo thing waving rainbow flag and chanting to Bandera.
You trolling me, little boy? Come back to talk to me when your mouth doesn’t stink like your mother’s titty milk anymore!!!
Very interesting Pepe
Another thought has occurred to me on subject of his location.
I am sure many of you who regularly viewed Gonzalo’s online discussions heard him say how he did not want to do any photo shots from his apartment balcony of the skyline in Kharkiv when there was sound of bombs being landed in the background because he feared disclosing his location that would be given away by being able to identify local buildings next to his apartment.
Why would that be such a concern to Gonzalo given how the SBU and Ukraine had to have known exactly where he was living and broadcasting from? – assuming it was all as he was telling us.
Besides that, if any of the Nazi thugs wanted to kill him how easy would it have been for any of them to simply have inquired or bribed anyone in SBU or government to find out where he was living. So easy. A no-brainer.
If Gonzalo had been in such fear of his life then surely he would have desisted from conducting his online sessions after his first arrest.
Just asking the question. This is another aspect I am unable to reconcile.
He constantly was upset over the lose of life and destruction of the youth of Ukraine. He saw early on this would lead to demographic destruction of the country. He also understood as people here do that such catastrophic destruction would also result in a defeat of Ukraine against Russia. Results? The country is killed literally for no good reason. The neocons are just horrible people they don’t represent any values of a true American.
‘Brian F says’
Very good. You’ve cut to a good bit of the chase. Extracted a bit if not all of the essence even.
Some excellent observations and questions Fed.
I don’t think it’s going to go well for him this go-round. I think the Kiev regime is frightened.
And you can’t get more dangerous than someone scared who’s holding a gun. (From my time in the NYPD we had a joke- ‘Ain’t nothin’ in the world more dangerous than a scared cop’.
Here’s the thing: MacGregor et al have said that Uk doesn’t stand a chance when Russia starts to move, and if the weather in my neck of the woods (Ontario Canada; pretty much the same weather as S. Uk) is any indication, they’re going to jump off any day now.
BUT
If Bahkmut & Vulidar are any indication, there’s still PLENTY of fight left in the UA. I’m no military strategist, but that’s how I’m seeing it.
Having said that, seeing how Russia has only started using those big bombs (FABS?) only in the last 3-6 weeks…
Both sides have been keeping their powder dry.
It’s gonna be a slugfest once it jumps off.
And Kiev is shit-scared by my reckoning.
Gonzalo’s just got caught in the cross fire.
I think the Kiev regime is frightened.
I think we’re ALL frightened. The world at large. This neocon cabal and its vassals have seated us on a runaway train that’s picking up speed as we speak.
Runaway Train is a 1985 American action thriller film directed by Andrei Konchalovsky and starring Jon Voight, Eric Roberts, Rebecca De Mornay and John P. Ryan.
I think Konchalovsky saw the writing on the wall 40 years ago and decided to give the world fair warning.
Most of Lira’s recent commentary was about failures of USA internal cohesion, politically and monetarily! It is most likely USA that asked UKR to lock him up!
Why not? Worked that way for Assange.
Hilllary as Secretary of State regarding Assange:
“Can’t we just drone him?”
When Gonzalo was taken by the SBU the first time he was released and they forbade him to leave Kharkov. Before that happened he said he was unable to flee because the Ukrainians were stopping cars at roadblocks and stealing all the people’s belongings and demanding money before they were allowed to drive on. He decided to stay put. I like his Roundtable discussions and I like he views, sometimes flighty views, on the conflict. I hope he is released soon and in good health.
Shit. I knew where he was and that he was not allowed to leave, or be taken out by friendly forces, so he has always been vulnerable and on Z’s “death list.” As he said last time, the “Daily Beast” is the enemy, and the fricking Neo-Nazis even in the USA. It gets personal, doesn’t it, in war.
He must have had a high-level krisha for some reason. Else, he’d have long ago been hunted down and eliminated by neo-nazi enforcers.
There MUST be some yet to be discovered reason why he was left unmolested for so long.
My thoughts and prayers are with Gonzalo and all of my oppressed brethren under this brutal, totalitarian regime, we are in very dark spiritual times.
“In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
So what’s the latest on the ballyhooed Kinzhal shootdown by a Patriot? Anybody know? MSM’s creaming their pants over it, like they won the lottery. Half reporting it as fact already. Will we ever really know?
Another Ghost of Kiev. Made up.
Hmmm, I don’t think they shot down either but it could have been a dud. Eventually, it is bound to happen.
It’s interesting albeit unpleasant to watch how the MSM works. Yesterday, I searched on two keywords kinzhal and patriot and up popped a flurry of MSM headlines reporting on it, with cca an 8:2 ration of DID shoot down vs SAID TO or have ALLEGEDLY shot down a kinzhal.
This morning, I repeated the same search and it was an 8:2, 7:3 or 6:4 ration in the reverse.
Well, apparently a kinzhal and an iskander have the same/similar carcass, so the Ukrops (or somebody) initially said they didn’t know which.
Then again, plenty of iskander fragments lying around from other strikes. Can’t put it past the US’s UA proxy to salt a sight. Can’t put it past the US proxies in Syria either. Oh, did I expose something OPCW? Never mind then. Never happened. Mum’s the word.
Ghost of Kiev story is more beliveable than Patriot shooting down anything.
Just so. My thoughts are a mirror of yours Sir. And I appreciate the quote.
I’ve called both of my US senators and will call my congressperson’s office on Monday. If you can speak to a human, that’s best. If they hear from five people on a single issue, they perceive it as an outpouring of opinion. A phone call is worth 100 e-mails.
My Democrat Senators are totally useless, so I emailed Amnesty international, whom I donated in the past, about Gonzalo, and promised to never give a penny if they won’t do the right thing. Brain is right, Gonzalo was discussing the established facts. Nobody deserves to be arrested for speaking the truth.
I was an Amnesty donor for years but got fed up with their double standards.
Look how they folded like a cheap suit when criticised for having the temerity to mention war crimes by Ukraine?
They still do some valuable work, but they are hopelessly compromised now.
They won’t care. Lira was criticising the wrong side.
And WHAT have they been doing about Assange ?
They are a British NGO, the man is dying in Britain’s custody, and they keep talking about everything else.
My democrat senators are useless, too, but ALL politicians pay attention when their staff says “we’ve gotten a bunch of calls about this US citizen in Ukraine”. It’s not that they care about him. They just get anxious when their constituents care about something.
You’re still under the impression that you live in a country by and for the people.
They’re all Annalena Baerbocks now. Always have been.
Just exactly how long was Julian Assange in the Ecuadorian embassy in London; and, after that, how long has Assange been wasting away in Belmarsh? What was HIS crime? Will he, one of the greatest if not the greatest journalists of all time, ever be a free man again? Not if “Washington” continues to control his ultimate fate.
One thing we can be sure of — if the Nazis don’t murder Mr. Lira, Mr. Lira is not going to suffer Ukrainian captivity for another year. But before “Ukraine” falls, will “the US” cook up some charge against Lira and extradite him to, say, Guantanamo for ‘harsh interrogation” to find out about absolutely nothing? Of course the “harsh interrogation” would be the whole point …………….you know, to punish one of Putin’s more well-known supporters for a couple of decades.
It is sad that the Ukranian people have to endure one of the most corrupt regimes on this planet, with its backers being some of the most powerful elites in the western hemisphere. Arresting and shutting down bloggers is a sad chapter with the anti-free speech people that are in this regime.
Having said that, I am not a fan of Lira. I consider him one of the more common “me-too” bloggers who offer nothing new and his insights were probably stated the previous week by one of the forward thinking geo-political analysts who consistently bring intelligent insight to the blogosphere.
Why was he in this corrupt little country to begin with? Hiding from someone or something perhaps?
I don’t buy it. Lira has a first class intellect (and dare I say – acute sense of right and wrong) but prone to hyperbole and taking extreme positions. That said, he seemed to be always open to being convinced otherwise but it had to be done with solid arguments. Guess we’ll get to see how prescient he was in a year or so.
He definitely had a ‘love him or hate him’ online persona. It took some work in keeping a middle ground realist view about his dialogues and to stick to the content not the outward character. It didn’t help that he was consistently so self-deprecating. IMO there were definitely hints of a death-wish syndrome there, sorry to say. Maybe some martyr wish as well, just novice speculating here.
Sammy – Gonzalo once mentioned that is married to a Ukrainian woman he met in Paris and has kids with. Maybe she has parents and couldn’t live the country. It’s not about his private life, it’s about he didn’t say anything which wasn’t an established fact. And yes Amnesty semi- folded when barked at by Zelensky, but it did semi stood by its statement about Ukraine using civilians as human shields, and in such times as these, it counts for something. I can’t say I’m crazy about his reporting but he is amusing, brings interesting guests for debate, and we badly need a debate on this war.
Lira used to follow my 8th account on Twitter and I got very strange vibes off him. He used to keep posting misogynistic stuff alongside claptrap like “if you’re an atheist/if you support abortion you’re going to hell.” All this does is contaminate pro Russia material by association. One time after I’d tweeted how to mass block NAFO scum (by using an add-on to block not just them but all their followers) he DMed me saying that I shouldn’t do that because pro Russia people could be blocked along with NAFO. Why should any pro Russian person follow a NAFO? That’s apart from why, even after being arrested and released, he made no effort to get out of Ukranazistan and made himself liable to rearrest by keeping up his rhetoric. I’m not saying he was used by one group of Ukranazis and arrested by another due to a failure of communication, or that he thought he had more licence than he did and went too far. But as I said I got very strange vibes off him.
So… his opinions differed from yours. Gotcha.
8 accounts on Twitter?
I was always in hopes that Gonzalo would come to his senses and get out of Kharkiv whilst he could. Pray for his eventual release.
Gonzalo, Бог с тобой
I think it’s part of a trend. There is a general crackdown on dissenting media on the west, he was captured on the first, there was the drone attack on the kremlin (I don’t think it was a false flag, but it was obviously allowed to happen untill the last possible moment for maximum effect), then there was the hysterics from Prigozhin, wich was repeated through western media, baiting the USA to send more money and to force an attack on bakhmut with a deadline even. This was about silencing him, they didn’t charge him with anything the last time, this time he was detained officially. They might deport him after the whatever that is comig, I hope. The vids from his first channel were deleted but this one was my favorite among those and the points made in it are still more than valid https://www.arcoiris.tv/scheda/it/41666/addC
The Nazis are getting desperate. When a regime is failing, it resorts to terrorism — both abroad — and a home. It is a sign that the end is beginning. The Counteroffensive, apparently scheduled for May 9 is set up to fail. The US election season is coming — and China is the new Big Bad.

Brian’s piece is superb.
I haven’t always agreed with him, or Gonzalo, but he really nails it here.
The more one thinks it through the weirder it gets. Why would the Ukraine SBU take the trouble to film his arrest and then publish it on YouTube?? That is most uncharacteristic of such regimes. Surely it would have been so much easier, and so much less trouble for them in terms of avoiding very bad publicity, to simply have arrested him and taken him away and buried him never to be heard of again. That would have been very easy for them to do. Now if anything untoward happens to Gonzalo Lira they have put themselves in the spotlight as being the bad actors that they are. Very weird indeed.
This is bound to create lots of fierce response and name-calling but I have to put it out there as wild high octane speculation which is predicated on the fact that Gonzalo staying there in Kharkiv after his first arrest, especially given the fact that he has a wife and young child to consider, seems to defy all common sense; and I for one do not accept that had he been determined to get of there that he could not have arranged it. I cannot see SBU devoting time and effort to having someone watching his house 24×7 for all these months – if they needed to do that it would have been much easier and less costly to simply have kept him locked away, or even easier and less costly just have killed him and buried with no cameras filming.
So here is the wild high octane speculation.
Can anyone for sure ascertain that Gonzalo was where he actually says he was? Do we have any reliable witnesses or sources able to confirm Gonzalo was actually in Kharkiv?
I have done cursory search online and have watched the film of his arrest but nothing I have seen so far confirms absolutely, leaving no doubt at all, that the film of his arrest was actually real Ukraine SBU.
Why would SBU film themselves arresting him and then publish it? It makes no sense whatsoever. It is not as if SBU are having to comply with any laws like some police in America these days have to wear body cams when conducting arrests. It seems so contrary to what we know about how the current Ukraine Nazi government and SBU operates. Heck they murdered a Ukraine politician for trying to advocate for peace a few months ago and made little effort to hide the fact. It would have been so much easier for them to simply disappear him in the dark of night with no film evidence.
Gonzalo was a film maker. Is it beyond the realms of possibility that he might have been somewhere else all along over the border somewhere routing comms through proxy server VPN to spoof location? And this has all been a big hoax – he has been scamming us all along with air raid sirens along with the occasional sound of bomb blasts sound effect in background. He had actors posing as SBU agents and filmed his arrest. All great theater. Nobody will hear anything from him for a few months. Ukraine government will deny any knowledge and deny any involvement (perhaps true) and then Gonzalo will reappear and maybe tell us about a daring escape from prison with help from underground crew and then the huge dollars roll in from film rights and book etc.
Now I am not in anyway asserting that is the truth. But one has to question everything leading up to this and especially the alleged filming of his arrest by SBU which is to me a big red flag.
I have been doing more searching to substantiate bona fide official source of any sort that could conclusively verify that SBU arrested Gonzalo Lira, but still I have found nothing of any substance – only the video and article in The Daily Beast that Brian presented (by the way I love Brian and the great work he does on New Atlas but sometimes the best of people can be conned as we all have been at various times in our lives – so this is no criticism of Brian or any others who have fallen for this scam if it is in fact a scam and I am now inclined to think it is) – this stinks when you really drill down into it
Here is the Daily Beast article – please check the embedded video in this article again carefully – make sure you view the first embedded video with title in top right, “Gonzalo Lire Arrest” which is 1min 16sec long
‘Red Pill’ Dating Coach Gonzalo Lira, Accused of Shilling for Putin, Is Arrested in Ukraine
Refer: https://www.thedailybeast.com/gonzalo-lira-red-pill-dating-coach-who-is-accused-of-shilling-for-putin-is-arrested-in-ukraine
look hard at the end of the video and you will observe Gonzalo walking out of the lift after presumably having been arrested and NOTICE he is not handcuffed and strangely he seems to in very good spirits for someone who has just been arrested presumably by some of the nasty bastards on the planet and he gives his devoted audience and the world that big two finger peace sign. Where in the world anywhere does a top secret service police agency known for its brutality and strong arm enforcement tactics allow an arrested person to walk unhandcuffed presumably to the vehicle waiting outside to take him to the interrogation office.
You will also notice how after the alleged SBU squad has entered Lira’s apartment Gonzalo is handed a sheet which at first view one assumes is an arrest warrant. HUH? Does SBU walk politely into the apartment of someone they are intent on arresting and taking away and read them their rights and show them an arrest warrant? SBU would not even bother going through motions of getting an arrest warrant and I would bet they would not be acting so passively but would be more likely to be bursting through the door, shoving him up against the wall and handcuffing him before anything else.
When state police organizations like SBU arrest people they always first and foremost make every effort to unhinge/destabilize their target and instill maximum fear into the suspected offender. Anyone who has ever been arrested anywhere in the world by such an outfit as SBU will tell you that they do not ever treat you with kindness and respect and they never fail to intimidate whoever they are arresting and they never ever allow that offender to walk out to the police vehicle without being handcuffed.
I am not buying this at all.

Please somebody find something that shows unequivocal proof this does not stink to high heaven.
Nonsense.
It was 9:30 am and they let him shower and change before taking him in. (Read it somewhere?)
Can’t understand the not terribly embarrassing toilet photos. Were they trying to show how effective Russian strikes on Kharkov infrastructure were or just out to embarrass the man?
How is the photo embarrassing? Dudes are not known for being great cleaners of toilets. Just ask my wife.
Ukro society is obsessed with toilets (and washing machines, and some other stuff). They actually think that Russian soldiers are looting toilet bowls and sending them home. It’s even mentioned on Judge Napoletano Youtube channel, where Van Dyke idiot guy said that Russians are primitive and that most of them don’t have toilets at home.
SBU office building in Kharkov has found it’s way down the Summer Target list courtesy of having a special guest incarcerated.
Plus, the officer in charge of that unit has a bargaining chip when the regime collapses.
That is why you film it.
Thomas
SBU building is on Russia’s A target list. Might they think Lira to be a deterrent? With that bunch, you never know.
Why would the Ukraine SBU take the trouble to film his arrest and then publish it on YouTube?
Ukraine is all about political theater, that’s why. And why not, given its consistent nurturing by the a no less theatrical western MSM.
Bordering – ever heard of intimidation?
They captured openly and publicly because he is a notorious chilean citizen and Zelensky had a couple of phone calls with our president asking for help with demining in Ukraine like one week ago because we chileans have expertise in that (long story), and our government committed to help after the war is over, and it would reflect poorly on the Ukrainian government to dissapear one of our citizens after that, taking in count the other time they captured him we called our embassy and made noise against the narrative, and that’s why they released him that time.
Also, go fuck yourself and your family.
Roberto Hadi
Your last remark confirms your level of intelligence and those like you who believe everything they choose to believe based only on the fact that if supports their belief only.
Can you provide any documented proof of Lira’s first arrest from any official source?
Please do post links. I have never seen of viewed anything to substantiate it.
Furthermore I am questioning what appears to be a story riddled with irregularities – the most outstanding of which is why any husband and father would risk leaving his child without a father in this world.
Please provide the evidence or take your advice (absent fucking your own family who never deserved to have such cretin as a father).
Another glaring irregularity that you yourself point out Roberto Hadi (not that you have the intelligence to figure out the incongruity of what you yourself wrote in your pathetic childish emotional rants)
You wrote the following:
“and it would reflect poorly on the Ukrainian government to disappear one of our citizens after that, taking in count the other time they captured him we called our embassy and made noise against the narrative, and that’s why they released him that time”.
1) What we do know is how willing Ukraine Nazis are to eliminate critics of their regime – most notably evidenced by a) the bomb assassination of Vladlen Tatarsky in St Petersburg café b) the car bomb murder of Daria Dugina c) attempted assassination/murder of Zakhar Prilepin – all which were conducted inside Russia.
Gonzalo Lira was broadcasting comments to a far wider global audience than those Russians bloggers (excluding Dugina) and which were just as disparaging to the Ukraine government.
Gonzalo was right there living in Kharkiv. It would have been so much easier for them to have just disappeared Gonzalo in the first instance, as opposed to having gone to all the trouble of arresting him and then letting him go when they could have so easily kept him locked up or deported him.
2) If Gonzalo had been such a problem to Ukraine government which prompted his first arrest, then why did Ukraine government not simply expel/deport him from Ukraine? – so easy for them to have done and problem solved for them
That they allegedly arrested him and then let him go, ordering him to stay in Ukraine, makes no sense. Now does it make any sense to have allowed him to keep broadcasting his scathing criticism of the regime to such a wide global audience when they could so easily have released him on strict conditions that he refrain from making any further online broadcasts which they could have easily enforced along with having him released on bail conditions reporting weekly to local police who could have ensured his bail compliance conditions. They could easily have confiscated his computer and smartphone and banned him from making any further broadcasts. That they released him and allowed him to continue for so long just defies all logic – it defies all sense.
3) Do really think Ukraine would take any notice of Chilean government?? That statement shows how stupid you are. Do you really imagine Ukraine government would care one jot what the Chile government thinks – notwithstanding how your Chilean government is so supportive of Ukraine??
https://www.ukrainianworldcongress.org/vitorio-sorotiuk-thanked-the-chilean-government-for-the-support-for-ukraine/
Yes we all remember and acknowledge Chilean governments exemplary history on protecting the human rights of its own citizens – an outstanding historic record indeed.
Bottom line:
If any of the ridiculous nonsense you wrote had any substance then Ukraine government would have immediately expelled/deported Gonzalo Lira after his first arrest and put him on the next flight back to Chile (and making a big PR photo opportunity event of it) rather than just letting him go back to his residence in Kharkiv and allowing him to carry on conducting his online criticisms of Ukraine from his home in Kharkiv.
What a sad idiot you are Hadi.
Give your petty squabbles a rest, mountain man.
Well I guess I take exception to retards telling me to fuck my family especially they display such ignorance
1.- The people here can recognize a bad faith actor when they read it.
2.- You can post this ridiculous walls of text but you can’t google the shit yourself.
3.- Go wash your throat with the flow from the cunt of your mother.
Hadi
I had to come back today Tuesday 16 May to see what you might have added and the only surprise to me was not your clearly evident Nazi hate trash and foul mind on display but that Larry published this filth which adds nothing to the debate.
I would have thought that there was some line of decency even Larry would not be willing to condone with publishing that, regardless of the difference of opinions his readers may express.
FYI I emailed Chilean embassy several day ago and asked them to please inform as to his status and to ensure his release. But they have not bothered to reply and will no doubt be doing nothing given, which is not surprising given Chile’s historical strong fascist leanings which persist to this day and which mirror your own fascist filth.
But please do not disappoint and come back to further display your true nature with another highly erudite and intelligent comment like the trash you wrote above.
After his first arrest all they had to do was cut off his internet access and make him irrelevant again. One has to question why bring him on for debates if he was in such grave danger after the first arrest. Hope he fares okay but what no one advised him to shut up and sit down for his over all well being? The smell of bullshit is starting to waft all over this. $$$$$.
Allan – why don’t you try the below link –
https://www.stopcor.org/section-uanews/news-u-harkovi-zatrimati-prorosijskogo-blogera-liru-gonsalo-yakij-vidavav-sebe-za-zhurnalista-05-05-2023.html
Thank you for that Lika but I am unable to read Russian. I wish I could do so because in recent years I have come to love the Russian people a lot more now based on what I have learned recently – albeit I always loved the Russian people for their great sacrifice and the role that they played in having smashed the German and Ukraine Nazis and liberating the world from its deadly threat back in the Great Patriotic War.
In the article you sent link to I see photo of Gonzalo with his wild haircut but he would be standing anywhere – I see no other evidence of his being in any courtroom as such. And I see a photo of the very beautiful and highly intelligent Maria Zakharova
I have run the headline through Google translation which reads as follows but it reveals very little of anything we did not already know
Kharkiv has a pro-Russian blogger Lira Gonzalo, who saw himself as a “journalist”
The blogger is a hulk from one of the lands of Latin America, but now he’s still living in Kharkiv
My further comment as follows:
However I cannot make any more sense of it than that.
Believe me I am not going out of my way to disparage Gonzalo needlessly out of some perverse animosity toward him.
I used to always view Gonzalo’s Roundtable session and appreciated his comments and the insights many of his great guests presented.
When this latest story came out I began to give it more thought. I was simply unable to understand or reconcile how any man would put himself in such danger and run the grave risk of possibility of denying his all-important presence as a father to his child or children.
Let’s be real – Gonzalo did not need to be in Kharkiv and had he really wanted to get out (assuming he is/was there in fact) then I am sure he could have done so by having all his followers petition their governments to call for Ukraine to let him fly out of Ukraine to another safe place to be with his family and from where he could just as easily have continued with his Roundtable. Surely Ukraine would have been more than happy to be rid of him without having to go to all the subsequent trouble of second arrest and the bad PR it was bound to unleash against them.
Also consider that Gonzalo’s alleged presence in Kharkiv added nothing to his Roundtable sessions as by his own admission he had to stay in his apartment in Kharkiv as allegedly ordered by Ukraine government (albeit he would have to have been visiting local shops for food and other essentials).
Believe me I would love to be proved wrong on my speculation, because until this latest alleged arrest I was a big follower of Gonzalo Lira. And if it is true that he has been arrested then of course I hope and pray for his safety and speedy release and his being able to be reunited with his family and finally out of Ukraine once and for all.
In conclusion I think the famous quote by Mark Twain needs to be considered in this context:
It is easier to fool people that it is to convince them that they have been fooled.
Allan – you won’t be able to read it in Russian. The website has a note, “You are reading in the language of the occupiers” and you must switch to Ukrainian. I can read in both languages, so it wasn’t an issue for me, but it’s clearly a Ukrainian portal. My understanding is Gonzalo couldn’t leave because they took his passport the first time they detained him. Do you forget there are no fights out from Ukraine? The roads are highly patrolled. It’s really hard to explain things to someone who doesn’t understand the reality of what’s going on in Ukraine, where people could be arrested just for the “likes” they put on social media, or if someone wants something of yours, or just doesn’t like you, there is nothing that would protect you from being branded as a “traitor” or an “occupiers’ sympathizers” and lynched the local style or imprisoned. Think the Nazi Germany in the late 1930s to get the idea, because that’s what Ukraine is nowadays.
Thank you again Lika for that explanation.
I am aware of the terrible things that are happening in Ukraine as I follow many other commentators / reporters who are reporting the truth – but of course being far removed I am not able to fully understand and appreciate the horrors that are being conducted in Ukraine by the Nazi scum.
What you correctly point out is in my thinking the compelling reason why Gonzalo should have got out with his family a long time ago. Family and children must always take priority.
OK I slipped up commenting about flights as there are no flights of course in or out of Ukraine so I made small error on that count, but trains and buses operate across borders to Poland and other adjoining nations. Deportation would simply mean longer journey by train or bus.
Someone posted a comment to this article that Gonzalo’s family is still in Ukraine but I am sure I recall Gonzalo saying they were out of Ukraine.
Again I stress – all I am wanting and requesting is for someone / anyone to provide me with firm conclusive evidence that Gonzalo Lira has in fact been arrested and is being held in custody by SBU / Ukraine government. That film simply does not cut it as far as I am concerned; and for all the hype from so many people I hold in high respect I still nevertheless maintain that none of them has provided evidence that would stand up as being definitive proof.
By the way on different subject relating to the numerous comments about Prigozhin’s recent meltdown and his accusations leveled against Russian command. Andrew Korybko throws a whole new perspective and very different light on the event of Progozhin’s meltdown compared to most all of the other good analysts I have been following. Korybko seems to make more sense of it all. Consider this – If all the other commentators reports were accurate it is extremely puzzling why Russian command did not remove Prigozhin immediately after his rant and replace him. Sometimes courageous people need to take big risks and do shocking things to get attention to remedy problems and it seem this may be the case with respect to Prigozhin’s meltdown. Korybko’s take on it seems to be more plausible in so far as Progozhin is still there with Wagner group albeit not as military commander but in some quasi role of supreme command over Wagner. I add this so as to emphasize that in this situation there tends as always to be that terrible Fog of War and a lot of what reaches people far away is at best speculation based on lots of rumours.
Here is link to the Korybko article:
It Appears That Putin At Least Partially Agreed With Prigozhin’s Plea For Help
https://korybko.substack.com/p/it-appears-that-putin-at-least-partially
I try my very best to consider all matters as objectively as possible and when I find something that does not seem to add up or make sense then I question it, NOT to upset and offend people but to simply encourage us all to think more critically and question everything. If we fail to do that then we run big risk of simply following the herd and allowing others to do our thinking for us – and that path leads exactly to where Ukraine is right now.
Where is Colombo when we need him?!
thanks for the sorely needed laugh Charlene
Yes, to all you postulate. There is just so much nonsensical about everything Lira said and did. THE MOST insincere grifter I’ve ever set eyes on. Massive conman, present and historical (a convicted fraudster). Pure theatre, ego, self promoter. It could equally have been a US request to have him lifted and silenced as his channel and influence with US criticism was growing by the day. He will be held till the war is over, or else he will just set up shop again. The SMO will not miss him at all.
What an appalling comment! I’d expect better of a reader of Larry’s blog, but maybe you’re the Langley employee assigned to keep an eye on us.
‘There is just so much nonsensical about everything Lira said and did.’ Really? The roundtable discussions were interesting & fun — not ‘nonsensical’ — and sometimes featured our esteemed host. Then you, disgustingly, attack the character of a person who can’t defend himself right now & who might be being tortured as you do so.
I am sorry to hear that. Let’s hope he is released soon, like last time.
if urainaians wont give up gonzalo lira, i think it would be a big sign of the declining power of the u.s. by now, being an us citizen would prevent any of these results. now having an us passport seem like the same thing of having an albanian passport or the like. a year ago i would never been able to conceive that i would see this fomer uniopolar empire humiliated in so many ways…
Why don’t we crowd fund for a Wagner Group PMC hit on the Ukronazis holding Gonzalo to rescue him?
Seriously, it is time we privatized war and go after our enemies.
I really hope Gonzalo is fine, but, no “hero” (journalist or whatever you want to call him) would walk at night, with a thousand dollars in his hand, in the most dangerous neighborhood of NY and say that “it is his right and he’s standing against crime”… he might be partially right, but is stupid.
That said… well, Gonzalo was clearly in a very bad neighborhood, holding thousands of dollars and insulting the local gangs while peeing over the bike of the gang leader.
Gonzalo got what he wanted so bad (maybe for his book)… An old guy, married and (as I understand) with kid(s) who prefers to stay in a war zone to “report” nothing that cannot be reported from other place (next to his family)…. come on… he wanted this for some reason.
Yeah right! He could just hop on a bus to Italy or maybe Switzerland. Can you people be that stupid as to think he was not under constant surveillance?
or left 404 when his family left… “under constant surveillance” exactly the point, if he knew that, it was stupid of him to keep taking a shit on the table of the n-a-z-i-s… He did everything yo be under surveillance. Got what he wanted
So, no one expects the inquisition (but some are busy cheering).
As another commented mentioned, Gonzalo’s theory was that staying in the public eye, such as with regular broadcasts, might make the authorities less likely to nab him (since they’d suffer even more bad publicity). I think that sounds like a pretty good ‘strategy’ myself. Hope it ends okay for him — he’s a pretty extraordinary personality…
Maybe Karkhov is where they have something big planned?
Maybe they wanted him out of the way before he filmed & shared something they didn’t want seen?
I’ve always hoped that Gonzalo would get the hell out of Ukraine, but for some reason he seems to have developed a deathwish. At some point he became a chain smoker, this is not the old Coach Red Pill. I know he had a health scare, and possibly at that point he said to hell with it and just decided to plow forward and let the chips fall where they may.
Wake up !The SBU filmed Gonzalo’s arrest because of what they were taught by American neocons. It is called “The Perp-Walk”.Remember the SWAT raid on Roger Stone?Complete with helicopters overhead.Who can forget the FBI swooping in at Trumps estate? Both of those were preceded with a tip off to the media. You are being shown what they want you to see!
Personally I dislike him. Brave journalist he may be but ever since he started to clad himself in robes of geopolitical expert (whatever that may mean) I can’t stand to listen to him. Still waiting for fulfilment of one of his great “predictions” how Poland will go in and occupy western Ukraine. Let face it – dude is is just little less ignorant about Eastern Europe problem than most Americans are.
But all of that is beside the point – he absolutely should have freedom of speech and be allowed to reporting. I can be rubbed wrong way by his personality but him being arrested is despicable. Hope he will be set free as he should.
And lastly if his presence in Ukraine is a problem so much why the hell they did not deported him yet?
Dude is also less ignorant about Eastern Europe problem than most Poles are.
Agreed. I always found the guy to be a charlatan on the make, whose insights were nothing more than what you’d get from RT or various Telegram channels. I saw no first-hand reporting a la Patrick Lancaster from Gonzo, just a lot of chain-smoking unfocused rants. Which evidently got picked up on Russian TV as if the guy was Edward R. Murrow.
But even dilettantes and clowns have certain rights.
“… insights were nothing more than what you’d get from RT or various Telegram channels…”
That has been my opinion of him too. He was just a repeater station, with no special insight to the Deep State mechanisms. And then there was his arrest and release last year, when others are murdered for less than his actions.
Nothing is rarely black and white, there are usually shades of grey.
Well, I’d have said that Poles have this bizarre inclination to become pole dancers for US troops but given the evolving nature of US troops, they’re more inclined to be the pole dancers themselves.
Poles want to be Ukranized. They think that they will not fail, because they are much smarter than those Ukros.
“detaining Gonzalo simply reinforces a growing realization in the West that Ukraine is under the thumb of neo-Nazi thugs.”
Hmmm? How about the growing realization that the West is under the thumb of cryptic neocon Zionists who are behind the neo-Zionist thugs in Ukraine.
In modern day world they are all allied against common enemy, and use rainbow flag.
Blyskawica says
That Sarah what’s-her-gender character in Ukraine is proof positive of your assertion.
I first heard of that individual when Gonzalo was first arrested, a year ago. He/she/it had twitter orgasm on the fantasy that Gonzalo is dead, and executed by some Kharkhov Banderite with nickname that sounds like Chile (which is where Gonzalo is from). That Chile guy was the commander of the unit that filmed themselves shooting prisoners in the legs a year ago.
Alex, Yep.
In a nation built and standing on lies, the Truth is what you are officially told.
Gonzalo’s twisted life/tale in the Ukraine produces more questions than answers, for sure……..but…………..
…in the escalation of lies being fabricated, acceptance of what you are being told about Gonzalo ……..is likely the more important part of the lesson being taught.
Being trained to accept the lies being told is extremely important when general acceptance of the ever increasing lies are all that is keeping revolution from breaking out!
You forgot to write your truth, and enlighten everyone.
It’s possible, just possible, that they’re doing Gonzo a favor by evacuating him from a city that the Ukrainians and Russians both know is going to become a hot zone in the very near future.
What can you really expect from the despicable Uke Regime. These guys even put Musk on a kill list for a simple tweet in support of peace, despite him supporting their communications through star link to the tune of $80 million of his own money.
A Ukrainian friend of mine (zealot supporter of Elensky) explained that it’s because “Russian oligarchs bribed Musk”. I asked her, “who is Musk’s biggest client?” and she had no idea. I explained that his biggest client is the US Gov, and he stands to lose far more from opposing them, than any possible gain from an imaginary Russian bribe. I told her, that it’s incredibly convenient and dangerous to cast anyone with even the slightest dissent from the US/UK opinion as a bribed traitor. I could hear the dissonance of the gears turning in her head.
I think this Uke government kill list is no accident, and likely at least partially directed by our own deep state as a tool to threaten its own citizens. I even read that the kill list is hosted on our own US gov servers.
I even read that the kill list is hosted on our own US gov servers.
Indeed, myrotvorets was outed by some very astute IT types back around 2015-17 to have been hosted back then on a NATO server in Estonia. It was a very valid proof and even invited readers to replicate via pingbacks, which I did. Since then, it’s been veiled somewhat by third party participation but that too was revealed not too long ago.
Yeah, Putin is bribing everyone that has a problem with Ukraine to have a problem with Ukraine.
For that dog-eared meme, I’ll quote Larry: “Never underestimate the stupidity of Ukrainians.”
Only the biggest “alpha male” like Putin can bribe the richest man on the planet with a handfull of dollars. Close second place is Trump, for making pornstar pay him for sex.
American citizen also having a Chilean passport?
Why so suspicious? Whalen had three passports, or was it four?
Soros probably has a dozen. LOL
Congress? Well, that’s a state secret.
Chilean citizen also having a United States passport. Chileans can have double nationality and they don’t lose chilean citizenship.
A dark day.
Where the hell are the U.S. and Chilean Ambassadors to Ukraine? Why have we not heard anything from either? Maybe this is a rhetorical question, especially with the US support of the Ukraine’s gangster leadership, but perhaps US and Chilean citizen pressure on our respective State Department and Foreign Ministry, including through published petitions, will force some action if only by embarrassing them.
I think they’ve asked the Australian Embassy in Kiev to represent his interests, you know – to keep everything on the up and up. 😉
are they also looking after Assange’s interests?
Of course. They’ve demanded that he undergo a health check at least twice a year.
The chilean embassy to ukraine is in poland because of the war, and yes, we are contacting the guy.
For those who want to contact the US Embassy in Ukraine to show support for Gonzalo Lira, the telephone numbers posted for Ukraine-Related Calls are: +1 606 260 4379 (outside the U.S.) or +1 833 741 2777 (from the U.S.) Phone Numbers…
(See: https://ua.usembassy.gov/ukraine-related-calls/)
If they were smart they would just deport him like the Russians did to Bald and Bankrupt.
Lira knew the possible repercussions of residing where the Ukrainians could get their hands on him. Kudos to him for having the balls to report from a dangerous place, though.
I enjoyed watching Gonzalo Lira’s content, but use your critical thinking skills folks:
1. Gonzalo was arrested once before by the Ukies, released after a week and kept under their control.
2. Gonzalo was not prevented from posting dissenting content to Twitter and YouTube for more than a year.
3. Gonzalo has brought together a large group of dissenters on his roundtables.
Victoria “Fuck the EU” Nuland had had enough:
https://jamesburrillangell.substack.com/p/strange-diplomacy-victoria-fck-the
Well, the rational world’s had more than enough from Ma ‘Cookies’ Barker there too.
It’s nice to be able to balance the scales every so often. A real catharsis.
That’s a good summary read of 2014 to present. Good man, that Angell.
Slowly but surely, the MSM Titanic is changing course – but not before half the passengers and crew have jumped ship.
Biden of course, will go down with the ship, not for being a good captain but for being incapable of finding the cabin door on his own and his neocon handlers have already safely jumped onto the other political party’s ship, leaving him where he’s most comfortable, in the dark.
Perhaps Arwa Damon and Clarissa Ward are ‘terrogating ‘im 🙂 How about a drumming circle in loin clothes ? Nothin’ on biolabs? This site seems more like a Culinary Institute of Amerka wannabee CHEFzone, the adulation of SY Hersh has been painful, GOODBYE!
I thoroughly disagree with Gonzalo Lira politically. In fact, my views and beliefs are at odds with most all of the former CIA, American military and various conservative, religious, libertarian etc… people who have been opposing this war, countering the narrative, trying to get at something resembling the truth, and yet since I heard this news yesterday, I have been completely devastated, and this past year, the people referenced above (Larry, Col. M, Scott, Gonzalo, etc.) have been like beacons in this darkness. We are beyond political spectrum and beliefs here, this is life and death, and the only question is who is trying to decrease human suffering, and who is trying to prolong that suffering.
When classic liberals finally begin to wake up to what brought on this war and begin to speak out, we know the end is near.
RFK Jr. if nothing else, is beginning the parlor rooms to buzzing.
Extraction?
Bingo. UK asset for on the ground intel re Russian movement toward Kharkov and local temperature toward same.
That’s why he showed up in Kiev right before the start of the SMO and headed east before the bombing started. Obvious to anyone with a modicum of knowedge regarding the tradecraft.
His shows were entertaining and his invective against the U.S. was probably genuine, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t serving their interests. The fact that he never bothered to learn Russian speaks volumes. I doubt any of this comes to any suprise to the Russians.
Smart money says he’ll be convicted and deported to the UK.
The fact that his *arrest* was vlogged is a point in favor of his safety.
But it does beg the question .. Why now?
Here’s the contact information for the company that Green-badger Gonzalo was contacting with, maybe they can help?

Take a look at the “Beat Short Deadline” Bible study in the “Faster Miracles” set of Bible studies in http://www.PrayerAnsweredFaster.com on how to break Gonzalo out of jail.
or, go to: https://PrayerAnsweredFaster.com/beat-short-deadline_2/
I enjoyed reading Gonzalo now as well as when he was writing about a past bubble. Thanks, Larry, for this tip.
Lira should announce his transition to black tranny. Blinky will lick any Ukie arse to have him out in a day.
ukraine should just deport him to chile and that would end it. make a deal with him that he keeps quiet until the war is over in exchange for his release. his message is already out there.
Gonzalo Lira, why are you even in Ukraine, your a Chilean/US Citizen, you could have left to return too either Country so why were you living in this Hellhole Country called Ukraine? Gonzalo had been playing with fire for months & when he was arrested the first time, that should have been his klaxon warning to get the Hell out, but no he kept pushing his luck? Well that luck just ran out? And what did Gonzalo hope to achieve by running his mouth off about Zelensky & his Neo Nazi Regime while living in Ukraine because frankly speaking it was stupid & never going to end well for you? If Gonzalo is ever released, he needs to get the Hell outta there but now it might be to late, the SBU might dress him up in Camo, give him a gun & send him to Bakhmut as Canon fodder? So sad, but it should never have come to this sorry situation if Gonzalo had exercised common sense & good judgment & just got the hell out of Ukraine while he had the opportunity to do so!
WOW . . .what is it with all you “he should have fled”, “I can’t believe he didn’t flee” . . . . or even worse the “I always suspected he was a plant” or some such crap. He had previously spent a week in the custody of the Ukrainian Secret Service . . . . during a time of war. Imagine how scary that would actually be. I don’t care how much of a ‘tough guy’ you are . . . or think you are !! Myself & many others rang & emailed Chilean Embassies worldwide to alert them to his dissapearence & he was released a week later sans electronic gadgets & told he was under investigation & NOT TO LEAVE THE CITY !! He would not discuss any particulars of his arrest / interrogation so we do not know what threats had been issued to gain his compliance.
IMO Gonzalo has been a font of very interesting conversations & ideas & I have appreciated his insight & his guests. Like Larry I too wish him well & a safe return which I believe will happen because they filmed his arrest. I I believe there was such an outpouring last time that they are doing this by the book. They could very easily just ‘disappeared’ him & said they were looking for him due to him fleeing the city. I’m not saying he’ll be released though – he may well be charged with some “giving aid to the enemy” offence & jailed. I believe we will get to know though.
It’s a legitimate question to ask on why Gonzalo never got out of Ukraine which Mr Lira has never clarified? Gonzalo is a Man who has plenty to say about many things, not just about Ukraine but rarely talked about his personal situation, why is that? And what proof do you have that Gonzalo was wearing a electronic bracelet or given instructions not to leave Kharkiv? Supposedly the SBU would have put a gag order to silence on him if what you’ve said was correct to stop him from blogging, yet he continued to Vlog unmolested & denigrate Ukraine & its disastrous War with Russia for well over a year? Your narrative doesn’t add up? And Ukraine is such a corrupt Nation that it was possible for Gonzalo to buy his way out with a donation to the SBU Retirement Fund? The SBU who would have let him go & leave because with anything in Ukraine, they would sell off their own Mothers for money, they can be bought & paid off with dollars, euros, yen, yuan, whatever your currency of choice is! I used to follow Gonzalo but I stopped taking notice because he was becoming a big mouth blowhard, his constant cussing & bad language, the chain smoking & arrogant, know it all attitude turned me off? I always knew that arrogance & nonchalant attitude was inevitably going to boomerang back & be his undoing & that’s sad & unfortunate for Mr Lira.
GONZALO LIRA HAS BEEN DETAINED BY THE SBU ON MAY 1st. He cannot be called a traitor, he has dual citizenship from Chile and born in the United States of America. HAS NEVER CONTACTED ANY RUSSIAN OFFICIAL OR ARMED FORCE INDIVIDUAL. THIS IS A FRAGRANT ABUSE OF THE ZELENSKI REGIME.
Gonzalo, since the beginning of the war, has been
telling his almost 300,000 internet followers HIS TRUTH AS HE SEES IT, RIGHT OR WRONG. HE HAS THE RIGHT OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
Let us not forget that UKRAINE has been accused of human rights violations by AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL HAS STATED: “The international armed conflict has led to a wide range of human rights violations affecting both civilians and combatants”, the executive summary states, adding that the Office has “verified numerous allegations of arbitrary deprivation of life, arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance, torture and death”.
Thank you for reading my message. I am Gonzalo,s father and I am asking you to put pressure for his release.
Thank you.
Mr Lira . . . senior, thank you for defending your son & his right to free speech even though after his initial arrest it may have been risky to do & ultimately has proved so. After his first detention I phoned & emailed the Chilean Embassy in Poland (like Gonzalo junior had asked us to do if he ever went missing) but could not get through. I emailed them then rang & emailed the Australian & New ‘Ealand consulate. Both of whom got back to me. (I was asked if I had a photo of him or had his passport number !!??!! I did supply a cut-&-paste photo from You Tube)
This time around round I have not contacted anyone as his arrest was public, filmed, put online but I will do so now as you have asked. I hope your son will be safe & given the fact it was filmed I’m sure (as I can be) that this fact should ensure his safety. Being tried & jailed . . . I’m not so confident about but I’ll pray for him. Good day Sir.
On this Victory Day I wish Gonzalo good health , but I hope he gets outta this and learns his lesson. You do not stay too long behind enemy lines unless you have a slick coming to get you or the army behind you- Nam saying.
I remember in 08 I was working for a Ukie Contractor in Crimea when the Sakoshitvilli started to shell So. Ossetia and the Russian peace keepers. I had {Concerned friends} in the states, email me and tell me that they heard the Russians were going to invade Crimea next. I replied – Thanks alot for your concern but the Russians are already here – then I explained that Crimea is Russian and Ukrainian and Tatar and everyone gets along here fine. I wish I knew Gonzalo better, { I didn’t} but some of his friends that know about wars , should have told him to get the F out and head to Donbas or here in Crimea way before this.
“Kudos to Brian Berletic”
And kudos to you too. I missed that video of Brians somehow and am watching it now from your link here in this article.
Just a heads up that the way you guys all share your video’s and articles with each others audiences is helpful for those of us who find our time constrained every now and then.
we engage in irrational behavior because we see rational behavior as antithetical to our free choice and we value freedom over self-interest.
