I had the privilege of doing a round table hosted by Gonzalo Lira, featuring John Kiriakou and me. I met John shortly before he went to prison. In fact, I attended the bon voyage party. What was done to John was a real injustice.
We were at the Agency at different times but encountered the same problems and observed the dysfunctions up close and personal. It was a lively and informative discussion. Enjoy.
Excellent round table, you and John Kiriakou are very interesting to listen to. I enjoyed the session very much.
I was art John’s bon voyage party too. Small world.
That was a lot a fun, which I would define in this instance, as being both entertaining and enlightening. Thanks for it.
Why do biomed labs come under the purview of the CIA?
Perhaps because they are not “biomed” labs but instead “bioweapons” labs?
They’re weapons labs, products of so called NGOs built to design diseases specifically to kill Russians. 30 or 40 are on the ground over there. Make no mistake.
“We’ve witnessed a complete role reversal. What the Soviet Union used to be; the United States is. What the United States used to be; Russia is becoming.”
You said it all with that one, Larry! Great discussion with some shocking revelations for the layman! Keep it up!
Right on!!!
I’m sure that all Native Americans, African Americans, Mexican Americans, and all other non-White American would have a thing or two to say about that.
Indeed.
Imperialist Russia…China…or Japan…
…would have treated these ‘hyphenated Americans’ much better if they were allowed their versions of ‘Manifest Destiny’ in the 19th century…instead of the Gringo.
Sarc off.
I bet you’ve learned history in US schools or Hollywood (which is basically the same). Native Americans came from far east Asia. Their genetic and cultural relatives are still alive and well in Russia. It turns out that Imperialist Russia indeed treated them different. That’s why they support Putin, and fight for Mother Russia in wars.
Africans in Africa are still fighting for their freedom from colonial powers. For some reason, they wave Rusian flags and chant for Putin, instead US flags and Obama/Trump/Biden chants.
I bet your Grand Wizard don’t talk about those things in your meetings, because you are still too focused on hanging “hyphenated” people (which is a slur I hear for the first time).
Sorry to disagree, but both the present and the past image of the USA is just that – an image which never had reality attached to it. The USA was imperialist from its inception, never living up to the “shining city on a hill” perceived by the masses.
“The USA was imperialist from its inception, never living up to the “shining city on a hill” perceived by the masses.”
Agree. For anyone who doubts this, there is a Youtube channel with a hundred examples.

Carlton, thanks for your work at GM2 this year. You sound serious alarm bells there for years now. Best wishes.
I was at Lowe’s a few months back, buying some towing chains. I needed 4ft and asked a store employee for help. There were two of them, one of who was high-school age, the other one their superior. The chain was right above a line that measured 8 ft (in 1ft increments) and the chain I wanted was above the number 4. They insisted to start measuring on the far end – at marker zero. I told them “no need to move, start at marker 4). It took 15 minutes for them to “calculate” that if they started at 4 they would finish at 8 (instead of starting at 0 and finishing at 4). The whole time they were confused and tried all sorts of things as if they were trying to achieve nuclear fusion in the f*cking store.
Today I was at Verizon to get something and it took 30 minutes and 2 different terminals to charge my card.
Kroger had wilted vegetables, I would be embarrassed to sell that stuff, they did not blink an eye.
Empty shelves at Walmart.
At Lowe’s (again), I bought a wall thermostat for my heat pump/AC unit and it is under lock and key. I went and paid for it and it took 20 minutes to rouse someone to get the key. The customer service person made me wait for 20 minutes while they woke someone up in the back for what she could have done in 2 minutes (leave the post and go unlock it herself). In the meantime, while we were waiting, she took 15 minutes to charge a customer for a product he brought from the shelf that did not have a label on it. She kept asking the customer what the product was and how much it cost. Could not get anyone to show up to verify what the product was and damn if she was going to walk to find out herself.
At Tractor Supply today, line of 7 people at cash register, one register open, the rest of the employees walking around, ignoring the line. The lady in front of me bought something that did not have a label (again, like Lowe’s) and the ONLY cash register clerk decided to go and find out what it was and how much it cost. She did not come back within 10 minutes (!) and luckily someone walked by (store manager?) and took over the register. We thought the employee got lost in the store or quit??
Americans are becoming too stupid to operate cash registers that are already made for complete morons to operate. They cannot do basic math and they are not interested in working. Nobody can do basic job anymore, they are all drugged up on anti-anxiety or anti-depressant meds, too stupid, too lazy, too disinterested. How this country is functioning is beyond me.
Looking at all this – two things are clear to me:
1) We are in the initial stages of collapse
2) Powers that be know this as well and are ready to go all the way in Ukraine.
” 1) We are in the initial stages of collapse …”
Disagree, We are well beyond the initial stages.
” 2) Powers that be know this as well and are ready to go all the way in Ukraine …”
Agree completely.
One of the reasons I’m of the opinion the Russian Federation needs to get their ass in gear, launch some offensives, frozen ground or not, and ends this quick; before the madmen – and madwomen! – that are in charge of things in here the West, have a chance to react.
Unfornately, I just watched President Putin’s most recent presser, and he was once again quoting the patron saint of neo-liberal globalism, Milton Friedman. It does not inspire confidence when he does this.
On the other hand, he did point out that if Russian oligarchs who off-shore their money and their lifestyles, only to have their assests seized, well f*ck em, they got what deserved.
That did inspire confidence.
So, you live in a red state?
Yes, we are a DIEing society. Examples:
I use a CPAP machine. My pulmonary doctor directed me to a new minority (black) startup company in Philidelphia. Well and good until I contacted the startup to order supplies.
(With a heavy ebonics accent) “What’s your birthday?”
“XX/XX/XXXX”
“No! I need your birthday”.
XX/XX/XXXX
“No, it says, ‘Birthday’ … what day were you born … Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday?”
Oh my god!
I assume the young lady was a recent Philadelphia high school graduate working as an Affirmative Action hire in a new minority small business given priority access to the Medicare medical equipment provider network.
Next, did you watch the televised launch of the Webb Telescope? The microphone roamed among the French program managers who competently articulated their jobs and accomplishments … in English. However, the microphone seemed to intentionally avoid the African-American program manager. Was someone afraid to give him the microphone?
Finally, a family friend is working with a homosexual who is not holding up his end on the job. He says that his contribution to the “diverse” team IS being a homosexual. Everyone, including the leadership, is afraid to confront him.
Conclusion: It is not a question of our becoming a Third World country. We are already there! This is being forced on us by pressing American companies and institutions to hire and promote people based on identities … WITH THEIR IDENTIFIES BEING THEIR JOBS based solely on racial, sexual, gender, and other identities rather than competence and performance in order to satisfy requirements created by the Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity scam (DIE).
Yes, a cultural pandemic has been loosed on us. We are a DIEing society. The sooner we recognize this the better.
I have many friends who run small stores in US I different cities. They all say 90 % of the employees steal especially cashiers.
One of my friends I Midwest had an industrial service and supply business. He had a 65 year old woman who did took care of accounts and administrative stuff.
She used to ask me how things are in that part of the world during the Iraq War though she knew I was from India. Always acting high and mighty. He found out a year later she had been spending couple of hundred dollars every month for two years on company credit card and passing it off as minor expenses of other employees.
The GS promotion ladder is the problem. You wanna wait 9 years to go from a Step 7 to a 10 when you can promote up a grade with two steps to the right? The problem comes when there is no spot in your org for the next grade so you have to transfer out in order to promote. Everyone chases money.
How true. I’ve just been reading an article that argues why fiat inflation encourages people to chase money rather than pursue the things that interest them and their happiness. It might interest you.
https://mises.org/library/cultural-and-spiritual-legacy-fiat-inflation
@Oddo: Read Civil War II. There are 36 items listed as conditions that could lead to civil war. Most of them have been fulfilled. Makes for interesting reading and food for thought.

I read Tom’s book last year. I located him on the nether regions of the Internet. He’s moved out of the US and is just enjoying himself. He has a youtube channel for awhile and posted about different regions/counties in the US that were hotbeds for violence. I guess he is still actively posting one there… https://www.youtube.com/@tomchittum8726/videos
I thought that was an excellent round table. After having watched it I came across this piece on Consortium News which complements it well.
https://consortiumnews.com/2022/12/27/fighting-the-psyopcracy/
Sad.
39:50 “We’ve witness a complete role reversion ; what the Soviets Union used to be, the United States is. What the United States used to be, Russia is becoming.”
Indeed !!! Very well said.
Nope. I still don’t see any slavory or KKK stuff in Russia. Not to mention that Native population is still alive and well, and living on their own native land, instead of being dead or in reservations. Also, I believe that universal healthcare and education are still a thing in Russia. Big oversea wars are lacking too, and a few hundred military bases.
Russia is becoming USA by becoming nothing like USA. I guess it’s what being trans-something is like (except for the ability to compete in sporting events).
Just read most of Civil War 2.
Most Americans just laugh at this scenario.
Very scary
South Africa just experienced severe looting in KZNatal recently. What was interesting was how quickly the armed citizens came together to protect their homes and families. Racially across the board. As whites we live with this scenario in our consciousness, the awareness of being a small minority. However, if the majority looting had been organised and turned their attention to our areas, I doubt we would have survived.
This was an excellent debate. Thank you, Larry!
I’m curious… a few questions: How likely is it that the Russian intel community have the same issues? Is it a human/systemic failing, or is it a cultural thing? Are these issues always in the system, regardless of the politics (whichever party is in power at the time)?
Here’s a take on the China/Russia situation from a different quarter:
Robert Kiyosaki has as his guest on “Economic Disasters in 2023” James Rickards, celebrated economist of ‘The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies’.

This is the first of 4 presentations on this topic; here it covers: the post-Covid future for China & breakdown of our supply lines; and the Ukraine War & blow back from sanctions. This all brings Ziehan’s predictions in ‘The End of the World is just the Beginning’ right into the real world of now.
Happy 2023, Larry!
Ziehan is certainly a CIA/Deep state operative,Where does “The foundation”get the money?
I commented on this one a few days back in the Retired USMC Colonel post when I found it on youtube. Top-3 round tables ever. I ain’t going into it again, because much of mine was a corporate story. But it repeats itself, send someone out to get the truth, they bring the truth back and then they go about discrediting the guy that brings back the truth. And then the mission fails for ignoring the truth. Happens in corporate, on the Hill, happens in Larry’s realm. Ripples of destruction because of people who have a vested interest in the opposite of the truth, short term destruction and profit, vs. truth. And this round table points out gender/political considerations with chicks dumped into positions throughout the 80s they have no experience in, trying to kiss ass to those at the top and shitting on the truth to advance. They lie, they scheme, they slander and like Larry said, you have to get the fuck out.
Larry’s involvement in truth-telling had worldwide consequences, mine were commercial consequences that drove billion dollar companies out of business and/or markets. These ladies lie where the truth will do. And then they scheme. I’m no sexist. But the destruction the last 50 years since the ladies got involved, were forced into situations they have no experience in but ultimate authority, the destruction is not serendipitous, it was caused by this. And from the inside, no one can confront it without ruin. We see it in Intel, in commercial, in the courts, in academia, in immigration and on The Hill. The destruction is real in every sector.
And there it is, I went into it again, yet it bears repeating: Groupthink kills. Gender politics kill. And I have no idea how to reverse any of it. Russia and China are very streamlined and successful today because they have none of it. Way more than nuff said from me.
Sorry, Larry, it flows. I blame you. These round tables inspire truth. This one was one of the best. Great stories! If I’m wrong in any of this, I respectfully invite comment.
In a world where only money is worth; Just like surveys do, intelligence says what pays the best or ensures career advancement, because everyone wants to seize their opportunity for more.
Excellent take, but not everyone wanted to advance no matter what. Colonel McGregor could have been a 5 star General had he chosen to regurgitate their lies over the years. But he obviously said no thanks. Instead we got Jack Keene and Petraeus, who screwed someone he shouldn’t have and lost a star. Yet, here he is telling us how giving more money to Ukraine is a good idea. Larry and Mr Kariakou could have feathered their nests and didn’t in favor of the truth. And there are many others like Ritter, Mercouris especially Andrei Martyanov and Mr Rievsky (The Saker) and so many others. Everyone didn’t buy in to enrich themselves. We’re lucky to have them.
My in-laws have been bragging about a young man in their family who is just getting into the CIA and how proud they are..I said “Hold My Beer” and sent this podcast to them. Im waiting for a response. Lol
That’s a fargin hoot!
Ooops! I posted my question too early… this is discussed a bit later after I posted. Apologies!
Excellent discussion. I really like Gonzalo, but he is missing what is the most important point. The “intelligence” is ALWAYS wrong in one direction, politically left. This does not happen by incompetence, but rather by design. Gonzalo said he doesn’t attribute the terrible CIA record to “a cabal” but rather just mediocre people in a flawed system. Such a system would not produce the obvious lies now about Putin being evil and incompetent and Zalensky and Ukraine being the new George Washington and the new America. This comes from everyone in the government, including the CIA, being part of what Dr. Angelo Codevilla, a CIA critic, called the “Ruling Class” mentality. You advance if you support all the key agenda items of the Ruling Class. “Global warming”, COVID as a pandemic, Russia is bad, the UN and all NGOs are good. Everyone must have the same worldview, which is leftist big government globalism. Being honest and independent and “truth driven” is not permitted. All of the badness is now emanating from the US elite, as Larry Johnson described at about the 39 minute mark. We are now the source of all evil, and Russia is emerging as the liberty oriented world power.
Iraq was going to be the new Jeffersonian Democracy, don’t forget.
obvious answer: they are “shills”…like a small club w/ bad actors, always making sh#t up as they go to distract from the truth…like the Seinfeld episode, a show about NOTHING….all made up….if nothing happens, the $$$ stops flowing, so more sh#t must be made up to justify more spending $$$$….The entire western economy/their GDP is fake, by something like 30-40%. Take taxes: they cannot simplify it, because many people dependent on that shell game will cease to exist under a flat/VAT tax system w/ no write offs. The monster in pharma/sick care and military industrial complex would also cease to exist if Govt support is taken offline and they must compete to become efficient and realistic….
The Neocons will never go away as long as Congress is manipulated with $$ from the source of said ideological influence.
Thanks to Larry and all the alternative NEW media that attempts to harvest from all sources to bring the world of chaos into perspective. Alex C brought up something today about one Larry Fink and Blackrock. The bastard who sold and then stole my Russian ETF. The same outfit that when the covid plandemic hit jumped right into the trading desk at the Bank of Canada. Sorry Canucks maybe that Pierre Polliviere guy you think is the new savior is just another puppet. My fellow Canadians are nice but quite stupid beyond belief. Myself included. Curious if you have any intelligence angle on the money changers in charge Mr. Johnson? Could be an interesting topic
Without going into lengthy details, in the 1930s the European Zionists wanted to conduct a population replacement in Palestine. When they asked the US Jewish leadership to immigrate to Palestine, the US Jews could not justify the idea of moving to the desert while living, in what they considered, the Land of Milk and honey. In return, the European Zionists threatened that should they not receive substantial financial support that they would infect America with Bolsheviks and bring Communism to America. The 1930s were at time where Communism was becoming popular due to the strife of anyone who had to work for a living.
Today, we have the Communism of Claus “Own nothing” Schwab knocking on our door. The only difference between the 1930s and today, is the 1930s we had a government that fought Communism. Today, Western governments are infiltrated by WEF indoctrinated leaders, who take their orders from Schwab and Soros among others. Our government acts and sounds more and more like the old Soviet Union.
Here is my question is the US becoming a Communist State? Will communism come to the US? Will we all live in a Smart Citie or a Kibbutz?
Blade runner, more likely.
Or Postman (david brin) aka, somali-land like warlords and fiefdoms, slavery, etc.
Personally, I pray I am wrong. But all signs point to dystopia.
What country in the world other than Israel would not approve if the US broke up into warring statelets.
Karma is a bitch. Reap what you sow?
I have heard this type of discussion within other (al-bi-it smaller) organizations I have worked within.
These “alphabet” organization are now so LARGE and Hydra-like that they have minimal control over what happens inside itself……………AND its’ mission has become self-sustenance………………….the purpose of the Hydra is to remain alive and in control!
Any attempt to destroy/injure/limit ‘the Hydra’ will be seen as a threat and those who are attempting any of these things will be eliminated.
The Hydra will survive – it is its’ sole purpose!
What are the odds, the weapons of mass destruction story was cover for defense of the primacy of the dollar. Track positions re actors advocating for national/regional currency and subsequent disasters. Hmmn.
Our foreign policy is wrong… and it carries out on so many wrong assumptions, about ourselves and the rest of the world.
Putting the breaks on this, it’s a challenge.
Collecting information… making our map as close to the territory is important.
However, we need to recognize it’s a map… it’s not the territory.
We do the best we can to make a correct map… it’s still separate from the territory.
The C. I. A.
What a bad brand name, sorry to say.
Gathering intelligence is still vital to our security.
Larry – does CIA (or any IC agency) do yearly reviews? Or historical reviews of an employee’s analysis?
I worked in a corporate job – predicting commodities market trends, where to build factories, etc….
A wrong prediction of commodity flows and costs could cost the company $ hundreds of millions. Like the CIA, we had access to lots of good raw data and statistics from our global offices, customers, and people on-the-ground. But even then, I found our investment analysis to be poor, siloed, and politically influenced.
While there wasn’t a clear process to go back historically and review past predictions, a successful manager at least had a record of financial success and profitability.
How would CIA or any Fed.gov agency handle this?
Calling “Intelligence” an organization that seem way past Dilbert’s principle is a bit Orwellian or is it ironic ?
One of the Murphy’s Laws of Combat says: friendly fire isn’t.
Someone could write Murphy’s Laws of CIA starting with: intelligence isn’t.
P.S. Orwell was an optimist.
George Carlin’s take on “military intelligence” starts at 1:50:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRdxdFDX3W0
Nine years and he’s still correct….
C. I. A. intelligence failed: Russia went on a “Manhattan Project” militarization from 2014 on… within certain limits of scale… and visibility.
And was busy as a beaver improving their military posture before that.
Improving their economy… politics… and diplomatic relations.
The C. I. A. seemingly missed it all.
Or didn’t want to pass bad news to those determined to jam a square peg down a round hole…
Either way, the American People got screwed.
And on current events. This last Russian missile strike was huge. And they seem to be going after weapons and air defense systems. When the ground freezes, the Gates of Hell open. I get very amused at everyone’s (including myself) second guessing of the Russian military doctrine. Many dead Ukrainians. The infrastructure is on life support. And their air defense is now crippled. Oh, and EU, NATO and US weapons inventories are drained. As a lowly E-5, I might not see the “big picture”, as many an officer told me. BUT it seems like that is Russian winning.
They are putting out videos trying to show that Manpads and 1960’s anti aircraft guns shooting down mach 3 speed missiles not realising it shows they are out of Air defense missiles and systems or have too few and are conserving them.
But none of it matters to the recipients of propaganda. What these conflict has shown is we have managed to turn hundreds of millions in to functioning morons.
I enjoyed this, although I question the CIA having “gone bad.” It was always what it was, much like the FBI, only we see things in a different light because America, that shining city on a hill we grew up with, has left us, and the veneer of an institution and its symbols being good ends when its body is decaying.
Many have argued the CIA, etc., simply represent the ruling class, and ours goes back a way, if you see America as an extension of Great Britain.
In a recent podcast, Gonzalo made the point that he is generalist, and sees things from the outside. He argues what we are seeing now is the death of the American (and western)political class. It simply is fossilized and incapable of reform, only to either retreat into wonderful traditions to uphold (bombing in Vietnam? Civil rights that ripped apart the social fabric? All that corporate profit-getting?), or strike out in anger at whomever the system has in thrall. That means us. Its wise to remember that in the end Nazi Germany declared war on its own people and hoped to take them down. I see much of that in the Ukraine.
its ironic for me, 70 years old, seeing all these flower children, boomers and trendies now old and decrepit, never giving up power. But such is history. read Flaubert’s Sentimental Education.
I do see a deja vu with the decaying Soviet state, and only hope we can rot away quietly into the night, and not go down throwing missiles at Russia and China.
Going out in a blaze of glory is always problematic. But I think much of our leadership, since they think and act like hammers, only see the world as nails.
No ending with a bang, let’s hope; just whimpers.
“I question the CIA having “gone bad.”
That is a notion designed to obfuscate inherent systemic existential threats and their present trajectories and velocities, in hope that the perception of these threats continue to be based on lesser trajectories and velocities attained in the lateral process closer to inception, in the context that previous “doubling down” by the CIA accelerated the number of trajectories and their velocities of inherent systemic existential threats, given that the CIA has been and remains a significant agency in facilitating frustrated attempts of bullshitting and ball grabbing.
I hear that Pandora went to a station in the hope of finding the previous contents of her box, but was disappointed because the proposed investigators were the ones who lost China.
I haven’t watched the video yet, but I have the perception that the intelligence agencies are just like the rest of the establishment elite and is composed of the same Ivy League assholes and today’s Ivy League assholes are decidedly mediocre or worse. Whether it’s some 30 year old “expert” on Fox News expounding upon something in which by his very age he can have precious little experience or the top cadres in all the government agencies, they are all the same people from the same schools with the same idiotic ideas. And they are virtually all incompetent in the extreme.
I’ve been reading Stephen Motion’s excellent books on Stalin and I have been struck by the similarities of Soviet thinking and what we have now. Then, the difference struck me and gave me some hope. All of the initial Bolsheviks and many of the apparatchiks in the early years of the Soviet Union were extremely able. Say what you will about their demonic ideology the men themselves were relentless, ruthless, and untiring workaholics who got shit done. Our commies are the pampered and debased scions of elite families or affirmative action midwits who have what remained of their wits addled with ideas that are antithetical to achievement.
So in summation, I think we may have trouble keeping the indoor plumbing working, but I doubt that these idiots can keep a police state functioning either. We’re headed for Idiocracy.
Stephen Kotkin’s books, not Motions. Apple automatic spell check is a thing.
Mr. Johnson- the comments about the cia relying on foreign agencies for intelligence remind me of a construction project i worked on. the guy in charge of scheduling and progress got his information from all of the foremen and did not check out the actual progress of the work himself which i encouraged him to do. Allot of them fed him a rosy picture of the progress which was a bunch of bullshit . He got in hot water for this but unlike the cia guys learnt his lesson and did not lose his job.
This reminds of the saying from the word ASSUME . it makes an ass out of you and me. I learnt this the hard way myself. Sounds like the modern CIA at work.

I found this interesting. i would rather fly the su-57 fighter made by artisanal methods which is creating a product in limited quantities by traditional methods (ie. skilled tradesmen ) than the f 35 made by some robot.

this is a different view on the war in the ukraine. i think one reason why allot of ukrainians are still fighting hard is the holomor. Whether or not this event occurred or not does not matter; the bottom line is that the vast majority of ukrainians believe it.
https://www.winterwatch.net/2022/12/some-proper-historical-context-on-the-russo-ukrainian-war/
I have no dog in the fight between Russia and Ukraine. In fact on a personal level my friendships are with Ukrainians. At this stage in the conflict I believe the primary purpose is to reduce both countries and slaughter Slavic men as part of a proxy war.
The idea that Russia wanted to conquer Ukraine in it’s opening offensives with 190,000 troops is ludicrous. By comparison it took one and half million soldiers for Germany to overrun and subdue half of Poland (partitioned with the Soviet Union) in 1939.
But it is obvious that the Russian invasion and military performance did not convey it’s intended message- and instead stiffened Ukrainian national resolve and fighting spirit. As we will see later in this post, there is historical precedent for that.

ralph
I listened to the podcast this evening and it was coincidental that when I went to the latest iteration of the blog Moon of Alabama the blogger “b” has a similar discussion/analysis. It is aptly titled: The lack of good analyses contributes to the decline of the west.”
At this point, there’s very little reason for hope. Sad to say. There are no rewards, incentives, or justifications for logic, truth, and ethics. I predicated institutional failure a decade ago, we’re here in real time. Can you imagine 20 or 30 years ago NO religious group or academic organization without an anti-war faction or wing protesting war?
