In posting the following videos from pop culture I am not trying to make light of the plight of destruction facing Ukrainian forces as they hurl themselves against trained, entrenched Russian forces. These two snippets from an episode of Game of Thrones is an eerily prescient portrayal of what is happening to Ukraine. The masters of Meereen reflect the arrogance and hubris of Ukraine and its NATO masters. The leaders of Meereen haughtily assumed that their attack on the forces of Daenerys Targaryen would shatter her and send her crying into the wilderness. Boy, did they make a mistake.
Think of Vladimir Putin as Daenerys Targaryen only without the golden locks and smoking hot body. Ukraine is sending its forces into the Russian maw and are being decimated at an unprecedented rate. Once again Simplicius provides the best overview of the slaughter underway.
Apart from being outnumbered and growing deficits in tank and artillery, the biggest obstacle Ukraine faces is the fact that the foreign trained brigades being tossed into this maelstrom have not been trained to carry out a coordinated attack. Let me put it in simpler terms. Image 9 College marching bands from 9 different countries speaking 9 different languages arriving at the NFL Super Bowl and being asked to perform a half-time show. While each band may be proficient in playing their own music and performing routines unique to their University they have not had time to practice playing the same piece of music nor have they spent time choreographing a joint performance. That is a recipe for chaos and that appears to be what is unfolding in Ukraine.
How in the name of all things Holy can the press and leaders in the West be surprised by “greater-than-expected resistance from Russian forces?” Hell, Helen Keller, were she still alive, could see this coming. The NATO planners bought into their own bullshit in believing that the Russian Army was poorly trained, poorly led and suffering from massive shortages. That is the only explanation I can come up with to account for this gross miscalculation.
NATO is overly dependent on ISR (i.e., Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) platforms that can tell you where troops and equipment are situated but cannot discern the capabilities and morale of the Russian troops. My apology for beating a dead horse but I must reiterate that Russian enjoys a lopsided intelligence advantage. Russian ISR capabilities are at least equal to anything the West has, but it has other Aces to play that NATO does not. I am certain that Russia has ample human sources planted in NATO and Ukrainian military headquarters and units and knows what Ukraine is planning to do and where it intends to mount its attacks. That kind of robust human intelligence is invaluable
Even if Ukraine manages to pull off a surprise attack in an undefended sector along the Russian defensive lines, Russia has the logistics in place to deploy forces and staunch any breakthrough. Oh yeah, almost forgot. Russia has at least 10 times the number of troops available to throw into any breach that Ukraine tries to exploit.
We are witnessing a historical moment as consequential as the Soviet Operation Bagration in World War II, which broke the back of the Nazi forces. While the scale of the fighting and dying in this Ukraine offensive is minuscule compared to Bagration, the strategic effect is comparable. The failure of the Ukraine offensive not only eviscerates Ukraine’s ability to mount future consequential operations, it also exposes NATO as a toothless, albeit malevolent, Leopard.
I would compare it to the Kursk offensive (Zitadelle), not Bagration. In 1943 the Germans knew that the USSR was massively reinforcing and fortifying the Kursk Bulge, and that any German offensive would be certain to result in a bloodbath…but went ahead anyway.
If when the Ukranazi offensive collapses, Russia makes its own major offensive, then that you could compare with Bagration.

Right now Russia has more armed soldiers on the Ukraine border than NATO has available in Europe, and the Russians have ammunition whereas NATO doesn’t. Even if you have the soldiers, how do you get to Moscow with no ammo?

The Western planers knew that the Russian Army in 2022 had become well trained, excellent led, and had massive amounts of new and lethal military weapons, before they took on Russia.
But having provoked Russia since 1992 by attacking its allies for regime change one by one, the NATO finally hijacked Ukraine in 2014 and built up its Army to kill ethnic Russian civilians in Donbass.

I disagree. Political parties, especially in the Westminster style are designed from scratch to concentrate power and add one or more layers between the people (electorate) and the party leaders. That’s why, for example, the PM has almost absolute power, and the Office of the PM basically runs everything.
They control the agenda, right down to what bills get introduced. There are means by which private member’s bills can be introduced, but very limited and usually fail. Questioning of the government is controlled and limited in the House, and backbenchers have basically no voice.
Everything is decided in the caucus of the reigning party, and that’s a top-down process. That’s the kind of control the Democrats want in America – what amounts to an elected dictator, renewed every few years. That’s the British system, whether the UK, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Covid showed us how draconian this system is as all civil liberties were suspended, and the courts backed the governments because the constitutions gave the government all the power. In those countries, any “rights” not specifically granted to individuals remain with government, the opposite of the US. Those 2 facts indicate rather strongly that the West’s and NATO’s elites live in an echo chamber of phantasms and delusions. They talk only to each other, fine-combing reports written by people who’ve risen to their positions by honing their skills at generating the memes and themes that corroborate and amplify the echoes.
They are, literally, their own worst enemy and they’re driving themselves out of the positions they enjoy in the upper levels of the West’s power pyramid. The Russia of the 99s and the Russia of today versus Nato reminds me exactly of my best friend in his last day of 9th grade. My friend was bullied mercilessly and would always give me his lunch money to keep for him from being confiscated by the bully. He never complained to his widowed mother.

Will these be of equal substance to the guarantees provided to the Minsk Agreements? What can these guarantors do, other than writing a strongly worded letter?
There is a simple way to provide Ukraine with the security guarantees it desires;
Provide Russia with the Security Guarantees it politely requested, before conflict began. (And note that Russia did warn of the consequences of its request being denied).
Unless everybody has a security guarantee; nobody has a security guarantee.
Russia has no more confidence in what the West guarantees. They will not negotiate.

A recent prisoner of war release of Hungarians living inside disintegrating Ukraine, who served in their military — they were recently released to Hungary Government — without any involvement of Ukraine government, Hungary Today [hungarytoday.hu] reported on June 9.

I would venture to guess these humanitarian initiatives by the church may in part explain the criminal suppression by the criminal Ukraine regime of Orthodox Faithful, [that was much in the new Eastertide].

i like tanks also. was at the bovington tank museom tankfest when the tiger rolled out for the 1st time since ww2. The entire crowd went nuts. when the tiger tank was parked next to a sherman ; the sherman tank with its 75 mm popgun looked quite small. They paraded all the tanks and AFv`s around the oval track from ww2 on to the latest challenger tank.
At the end of the day the UK soldiers who had been wearing the different uniforms of ww2 soldiers had a mock battle and it was well staged . One of the more fun days of my life.

While it is tempting to make comparisons to Kursk and Bagration, these comparisons are wrong on every level and in every way. The Ukrainian army is nowhere equivalent to the German army at Kursk. And the Russian forces are simply nothing like the Red Army in 1943-44.
What will take place in Ukraine when Russian entrenched artillery has disposed of Ukraine’s last efforts, will make history.
Russia will, once again, show the world what combined arms operations ought to be.
NATO countries will suddenly realize Russia can obliterate all of them on conventional battlefields… and, if Euro NATO members have any brains, many will leave NATO and begin a peace process with Russia… Good luck with that. Except for Hungary and Greece, I doubt Russia care about Europe.
The Pentagon will be humiliated by both, the failures of NATO-trained troops against Russia AND, most significantly, the performance of NATO weapons compared Russian weapon systems. The US Military Industrial Complex will be hurt badly.

Suppose they knew the “counter offensive” would be a disaster. They had strategic oversight.
Notice that Poland and Hungary … forces have not been formally been invited into Ukraine to help fight Russia.
Suppose a troubling number of UAF forces would not relish the thought of Ukraine being split up, the north and west split up among Poland, Hungry, Romania… and south and east including Odessa going to Russia.
So the dark forces that control the chess board would find it convenient to have the entire UAF destroyed totally and then propose a peace with Russia which would be on the basic outline of the split up mentioned above. With no howl of protest from any Ukrainian military forces, (after the offense is totally crushed), it would maybe not be so bad for Russia either with a 200 mile demilitarized zone. Russia does want to govern the “European wanabe” parts of Ukraine either. So Ukraine sinks beneath the waves. The Russian speaking parts, DPR,LPR,Zaparosia, including Odessa, go to Russia. Let the devil take the Ukrainian speaking parts, and Europe try to govern the corpse, They won’t spend the bucks it would take there either, so in the end Revolution in this new- Galicia would in end be more trouble than it’s worth, and they would be abandoned to seek some agreeable deal with Russia anyway.

It’s just my feeling but my feeling is that Ukrie Operation has to “fix” Russian regiments while Pole and some Baltic states prepare their operation against the back of the Red Army with, again, NATO’s “everything” (counselors, Satellites, Tanks, Fighter/bomber, terminals) just near Moscow and Leningrad while Northern countries won’t attack immediately but also fix some part of the Red Army.

Not Eastern Front in WW2 but Western Front in WW1. Ukraine’s Spring Offensive is the same as the German Spring Offensive. Once that was stopped largely because the British and French used Defence in Depth, a doctrine they’d learnt from the Germans, the British and French with some assistance from some US divisions went on the offensive, not with a big offensive but a long series of offensive battles (Glorious Hundred Days) which kept the depleted German forces struggling to keep up and eventually so reduced the capacity of the German Army to fight that they begged for an armistice.
Even Russian war fighting in this conflict is more akin to British and French war fighting on the Western Front in 1918 than anything seen on the Eastern Front in WW2.
