A question has been bothering me for 12 hours. Why are NATO/Washington/EU (sequence chosen deliberately) supplying powerful weapons to Ukraine, although the number of professionally combat-capable Ukrainian soldiers is said to be falling significantly? Is it possible that in a few weeks or months one will want to send one’s own soldiers after these arms in order to continue the war against Russia?
Equally why send them now when Ukraine’s defeat has been clear (to the Pentagon at least) for 3 months.
Why not send them in March when they might have made a difference.
Answer i guess: because they want Ukraine to lose gloriously.
Just think – if Ukraine chases Russia out then the US and EU would have to bail it out.
In the case of the US, one potential answer to the why is: domestic politics.
As in, the current administration is worried about the mid-term elections and GOP criticisms, so wants to be able to deflect those (say, “you were too little too late” sort of stuff) by sending these weapons now, even though they will not change the ultimate outcome.
As well, I’d argue that US/Washington really dictates what is supplied and when (so tell NATO/EU what to do and when).
Consider rockets for launchers: modern MRLS systems “eat up” the munitions at a furious rate. So if you announce that you are going to supply a system (i.e., a truck with the launcher on top) to Ukraine, but don’t have the secure supply chain to almost continuously supply that system with rockets, it’s going to be useless pretty soon.
Am not ex-military/artillery, so would welcome corrections and clarifications if I got it wrong here.

Well, anyone who follows politics knows over the years that this is a game of very different forces and interests.
The armament industry has a powerful lobby and wants to sell weapons.
The army lobby wants to take the opportunity to test their systems on the Russians.
The army-friendly want to use this as an excuse to put more billions into the soldiers.
Politicians have made big promises they can’t keep, but they’re looking for a way to save face.
The neocons who are keen on war cannot simply write off their investments in the Ukraine….. and they never fight themselves anyway, so they burn up as usual…..the others.
Meanwhile entrepreneurs are trying to get their money out of the UKraine, so it’s better if the war lasts longer.
Who profits from the nonsense promotes it ….. if he has a lobby.
Many out of ignorance, many out of calculation.
These missiles are meant to be tested, to make defeat honorable, to teach the Russians casualties, to fill the coffers, and to help Biden survive the lost cause.
If Ukraine’s resistance is crumbling then how long will it take for us to see … the map to change, or Zelensky to beg for a ceasefire, 2ws, 4wks, other?
NATO wants Ukraine to put up a valiant effort fighting Russia so that the citizens of the West become motivated and invested psychologically in seeing Russia fall or defeating them in a war. The biggest war playing out right now is for the minds of all the peasants around the world, as we are the ones that end up fighting and dying for the rich oligarchs who see this as some sort of sadistic entertainment, aside from maybe the Russian oligarchs because they’ve had so many things sanctioned away from them. The one oligarch that owned that famous soccer team had his airplane taken from him today which cost him 300+ million dollars which made it one of the most expensive airplanes on the planet. But I digress….
Ukraine was never meant to to win. It was meant to test our weaponry against Russians. Ukrainians are like lab rats for both a NATO and Russia. Eventually Russia will take over Ukraine, and expect a false flag to occur afterwards to create a conflict with Russia to take back Ukraine and go to war with Russia and possibly China. Although, I never saw how Russia would become strong allies with China who also threatens them simply because of their location, size, and desire for dominating the world. Plus they are different ethnicities. I think Russia would be me more likely to do what they did during World War Two and take the side of Americans and British because one is a continent away and another is a small is island sorts far away. Stalin didn’t take Germany’s side, in my opinion, because he knew Hitler was a better leader and would have eventually gotten Stalin out of the way because Stalin ruled by force while Hitler ruled by his speeches and words. He an ability to captivate people and that scared Stalin along with the fact he’d rather be allies with people far away than to be allies with Germany who could defeat the USA and Uk with Russians help but afterwards Germany would easily take Russia. So I’m thinking the same thing could happen here and make it
Look like we are going to war with Russia but to start a war with China and then knowing all along Russia would switch sides and betray China so we could defeat China which is truly a world wide threat to all people. China culture has no respect for life. The way they treat animals and nature is almost inhuman.
The Biden puppeteers seem.hell bent on starting a real war with Russia. ZH is reporting the idiots are mulling.over sending MQ-1C drones with Hellfire missiles to Ukraine.
These drones will almost certainly be piloted by Americans. If so then we have Americans killing Russians. The Russians will not let this stand.
I assume the S-400/500 systems will make short work of them, but if one American pilot kills one Russian soldier I think the lunatics will get the war they seem to be slobbering over.
These dumbshits are totally out of control and most the Republicans are happy to let them do it!
The country in biggest need or am emergency regime change is the USA!
The Republicans are 100% with the program. They are as war crazy as the worst Democrat and always have been. IMO, they are w/ the Ds on immigration and maybe on gun control. Probably every other lunatic concept proposed in the swamp. The only difference is the Rs have to worry about their base throwing them out and thus are more secretive about the raping of the country.
I think that is why they are doing exactly nothing about the election fraud. I am convinced that the shenanigans of 2020 were only different in the degree and boldness of it but the basic systems have been place for along time and the R’s have no interest in changing it because they are on the receiving end of the fraud just like the Dems.
I believe that is why all those “throw the bums out” campaigns a few years ago never actually threw any bums out. They are all in on it.
No the most of the R’s are safe. Mitch McConnell and Mitt Romney are not going to “lose” their re-elections not as long as they have the voting machines and the ghost voters.
Agree. Watch for news on the NY election/fraud. I have some inside knowledge on that one. It’s solid and it’s gaining legs. Should be interesting.
I’ve been on the fence on the whole “we’re not voting our way out of this” concept. I guess I’m waiting to see what happens in the mid-terms. If the fraud machine kicks in to save the usual suspects, then I will be solidly in the “something other than voting has to be done” camp. What that something looks like, I’m not sure. I do think that people can put pressure on their state level government to defy the feds. We have had some states promise to defy the feds on gun control and covid policy. We have had the sanctuary city movement (direct violation of federal law). So there are recent precedents. People that get stuck in socialist authoritarian states can always vote with their feet. Same for people that seem to want a nanny state and get stuck in a freedom state. All of that will eventually lead to a civil war, but I think it’s the right way to jump off a civil war.
I understand your position on this. It is reasonable. Being reasonable I think is a point in our favor. But the Putin was quite reasonable on Ukraine for a long time and it didn’t get him much.
No one wants to be the first to start shooting but I think we need to be ready.
The midterms will be I think a disappointment, yes the Dems will lose a bunch but no where near what they should lose. I don’t think we will get enough radicals willing to rock the boat in congress to make much of a difference. McConnell and the GOP will never allow an impeachment of Biden.
I think the Dems have their own plans for The Big Guy.
We will be sucked down the swirling waters of the bipartisan toilet until we revolt.
We will be smeared. We will be called traitors but we should wear it proudly.
I always hope that states will take things in hand and practice nullification of federal edicts. DC sends out orders, we say “no thank you”.
They insist, we tell them to come here and make us.
That requires a strong and principled governor, and they are on very short supply.
I live in Florida so we are hopeful here but the fear is that all the refugees coming from the north to escape the results of their own voting habits will bring those habits here.

My skepticism runs both ways. The U.K. press predicted a collapse of the Russian army in early April. That was obvious B.S. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10613069/Putins-forces-able-fight-14-days-military-experts-say.html
