The reports are piling up — just like Ukrainian corpses — of Ukraine’s massive losses on the battlefield. A year ago, according to the Telegraph, lhopes ran high in Ukraine about an imminent victory. That celebratory chorus is gone; replaced by a funeral dirge.
As Alina Mykhailova, an officer and paramedic in the Ukrainian Army, spoke about how the killing of her commander had “orphaned” her unit, her pain was palpable.
“On losing this man, whom I loved so much and with whom I had shared so much, I realised that we in the battalion were now all orphans,” she said, wiping away tears while the audience before her struggled to contain theirs. . . .
“Perhaps the biggest difference from 2022 is that so many people have now died,” said Dmytro Natalukha, a Ukrainian MP attending the conference. “One in two people now know somebody who has died in the fighting. I’ve lost count of the number of my friends I’ve lost.”
One officer, speaking off the record, spoke about the toll that attacking across minefields against well-dug-in defenders without air cover had taken on his company. The men replacing those who had fallen, he added, lacked the same level of training and motivation. And, if the war drags on for one or two more years, the strain on Ukraine’s limited human resources could become immense.
This is not an isolated report. Grief over losses is widespread and the Ukrainian casualties soar with each passing day. The following was published in Ukraine by Ukrainian sources:

Despite vows to fight to the bitter end or fervent belief in ultimate victory, the mismatch between Russia’s superior firepower and Ukraine’s increasingly desperate attempt to round up new recruits and get more weaponry from depleted American and NATO stores presents Kiev with an impossible task. Here’s my theory as to why the A bombs were necessary. Japan had developed an Honor-Shame culture so extreme that the killing of tens of millions would have had no effect .. as the “shame” of surrendering to a conventional enemy would have been unbearable
Then came a weapon that was beyond all human experience .. a weapon so immensely powerful that eliminated the factor of shame. There is no shame in surrendering to this supernatural force, anymore than it would be shameful to flee in terror from a meteorite hurtling at you from space. The maps don’t provide the true size of Japan. A proper map would show that the true size of Japan as being the size of the east coast of the United States.
Estimates that the United States would have lost over 1-million soldiers in an invasion of Japan were probably understated.
Besides, World War 2 was a different time with different peoples. And the world was not as horribly over-populated then as it is now. Nobody talked about finite resources back then. The Earth was huge and “bountiful.”

A fine theory that, unfortunately, ignores a few salient facts. The US knew by intercepts that Japan was willing to surrender earlier in the summer of 1945; the only sticking point was US demands for unconditional surrender meaning dethroning the emperor (an unnecessary demand that McArthur eventually rendered mute anyway). The suffering you mention in Hirohito’s message was already registered in spades long before August 6, 1945. American hubris and immorality notwithstanding, Japan did not surrender because of the two atomic experiments (that is what they really were) practiced on its soil, something the empire’s rulers only knew by hearsay when they made their decision. Russia’s entrance into the conflict is what finally tipped the scales and made Tokyo accept even unconditional surrender.
The deaths due to the atomic bombs was not unusual and in line with what the typical death rates were from conventional bombing missions. That’s why Japan didn’t surrender right away, the death tolls were not out of line. Japan did surrender immediately after Russia declared war on them. Whatever words were spoken about the suffering were empty rhetoric from a political leader. He had no problem with all the suffering in the years before surrendering.
There was no need to nuke Japan, and it didn’t make any difference in the outcome. Truman and the MIC just wanted to see how they would work. They were desperate to try the nukes before Japan surrendered so they could see the results of a real world test on real people. The US perfected the art of bombing helpless civilians, and we all better hope Karma doesn’t come around on that one.
It is generally accepted now by historians that the dropping of the two A-bombs had nothing to do with Japan. They were dropped to frighten Stalin and Russia. However, Stalin got his own A-bombs only a few years later, and the speed of this catch-up frightened the US much more than the previous ones had frightened Russia.

It didn’t hurt that the Red Army broke the Japanese Kwantung Army in Manchuria in a matter of days. The Red Army the Japanese faced was a throughly modern combined arms maneuver army while the Kwantung Army was essentially a WWI era force.

The Japanese War Council was not dismayed by the weapons. By that stage of the war they were like Monty Python’s Black Knight, literally. They were more worried about Bolsheviks than bombs.
Almost every major city in Japan (66 in total) had been burned to the ground by US boming (reference Robert McNamara, The Fog of War). When the time came to drop ‘the bomb’ there were only a couple of undamaged cities left on which to test the weapon.
Amid such horrific damage another city or two lost did not cause Japan to surrender – it was the Soviet declaration of war that did.

Fighting to defend Democracy?
Most commentators are a bit off.
Imperial Japanese Forces (who Coup’d the Country a few years before WW2 through the Murder of Politicians, Officials, and pressured resignation of the Prime Minister) were defeated months prior to the surrender.
Tokyo were trying to negotiate terms of surrender for months – mostly working through the Soviet Union, with whom a Non-Aggression Treaty was signed. That’s why Japan didn’t invade SUN when Axis Ally Germany were fighting SUN. JPN tried to get those two to end their fighting; but to no avail.
The SUN announced their Termination of the Non-Aggression Treaty. The Terms involved “No Hostilities” for a Year; but those Terms were not honored and IIRC SUN joined the fight against Japan in roughly 3~4 Months after the Treaty was Terminated.
Imperial Japan were pretty much out of Fuel, Industrial Capacity, Food, and many Metropolitan Areas were Firebombed.
The Engagements around Okinawa and off the Main Islands were it for Imperial Japan.
The Nuclear Bombings were opposed by the Majority of Military Flag Officers. The War was pretty much finished – with US Aircraft flying pretty much unopposed over Japanese Cities. After all, they’ve been trying to negotiate a Surrender.
What took so long? Inertia, etc.
Once SUN decided to invade Japanese held Territories (In contention prior to the Russo-Japanese War of 1905) on the Continent then on Offshore Japanese Islands to the North, the US Bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I was born, raised, and joined the US Navy in Japan – to return there on a Cruiser just because I was in a PAC Fleet Ensign Pool, a Vacancy opened up, and lo behold – I spoke the language (Instead of returning home, I was hoping for something in Hawaii or San Diego so I could chase down a Bikini Hottie for a Wife. In other words, I probably read/seen/heard more about the historical events regarding the WW2 Pacific Theater than most Muricans.

Ukraine has one option. Which they will not use. RUN for the Dnieper. Fortify Kharkiv and Odessa. Make the Russians fight ugly urban battles in historic and valued Russian cities. That will shorten supply lines and concentrate forces. And stretch Russian lines and spread their forces. Oh, and quit wasting weapons killing Russian civilians on PR behind the line’s terror attacks.
And they will still lose then if Putin ever pulls the plug and turns off the Ukrainian infrastructure. But it would extend the game. But they will not do it. Nazi’s. These people are honest to God insane Nazi’s. Right down to the coke and meth and tying gypsies to telephone poles. Insane.

Odessa is few rivers away from Dnieper, and Kharkov is far from it and on the wrong side. Unlike those two, Kiev is right on the river. Running for the Dnieper means retreating to Kiev, and partially from it. All the cities on the Dnieper would have to emptied like Kherson is. Even if they do all of that, they will realize that Belarus is on the wrong side of the Dnieper too.

Before the war in Ukraine, Ukraine was supplying itself and parts of Western Europe with Electricity from the largest Nuclear Power plant (NPP) in Europe, located in Zaporizhzhia.
However today, the Zaporizhzhia NPP is taken over by Russia, and is shut down.
Simultaneously Russia has attacked several CPP in Western Ukraine, and today western Ukraine receives electricity from Western Europe.

According to estimates, there are approximately 7.8-million Ukrainian “refugees” inside Europe. Add 2.4-million Ukrainians who have fed to Russia since 2014. Other estimates say half the population of ethnic Ukrainians has emigrated (or fled the country). These figures are highly suspect.
Zelensky, just like Hitler, will send out calls to all Ukrainians to return to Ukraine and defend the homeland, either by forced deportation or “of their own free will.” Are they being called to defend Motherland or a Fatherland? I am never sure.

Anyone thinking that this sort of desperation might bring NATO into this war directly, should remember how well it went for NATO in their full scale direct engagement in Afghanistan or indeed in various other sites of recent warfare- Syria, Libya. All the Russians need now is good cause to escalate this from a SMO to all out war with the west. The first to go will be all these eyes in the sky.
From Russia’s point of view there is mileage in escalation, including the satisfaction in properly hitting back at those doing them the real harm from a safe arm’s length, and they would have good cause in the eyes of their own allies whom they want to keep on board. The Baltics would want to go nuclear (and could, given the stupidity of NATO in siting nuclear weapons on their soil, although I am not sure they actually do have the access they need to fire off the stuff. But I am sure old europe and the US would not want to take the risk. Russia would not limit itself to turning Poland into a crater in the ground.
To what end? For Russia the current conflict is existential and Ukraine now feels it has nothing left to lose in bringing the whole house down with it. For the west it is no longer an opportunity to destroy Russia, not without turning its own major centres to rubble in the process.
Russia is not going to be suckered into another duplicitous western deal so the real issue for those with longer sights, is how to disarm the nutty baltic states (if not offload them altogether in which cause dumping Polish troops onto the current fire was a ‘go-to’ that met with surprise resistance!). Western management of this conflict does not care about about Ukraine any more- it has served its purpose such as it ever was- and would be content for Russia to swallow it up and then have to digest this problem….. given the alternative is nothing more than a vast killing field with the horrendous drain on western resources and on going risk of accidental escalation.

Funny, how just a decade ago the concern was with militarizing space. I think this sounds a lot like what happened in the USSR during WW2. How many millions were conscripted at gun point and sacrificed by Stalin. Retreat was not an option and met with death. Jewish communist commissars were embedded in each unit to enforce the no retreat mantra. This led Hitler to issue the order to execute the commissars which eventually led to the wholesale slaughter of Jews by German units which were performing partisan fights behind the lines of battle. This type of warfare is represented in the movie “Defiance”, though certainly from a very biased perspective.

Reliable sources suggest that the principal reason Japan surrendered was:
Soviet troops had soundly beaten Japanese troops in Manchuria. Once hostilities ceased in the West through unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany, USSR was free to redeploy those millions and millions of freed up soldiers to the East and push through the outer islands and threaten a huge loss of territory to Japan. The hardliners, who wanted to continue the fight with the allies, did not care that much about the devastation from the two atomic bombs (people forget that an even larger devastation resulted from fire bombing of Tokyo, similar to Dresden in Germany). There were literally no Japanese cities left to burn. But even those fanatic hardliners had to acknowledge the irreversible conquest of traditional Japanese lands that would result from Soviet invasion and hence caved in and accepted the inevitable – unconditional surrender.
Such parts of history where Soviet Union (actually mostly Russia) was victorious over Germany and Japan are seldom mentioned in western narratives. Instead, we are all led to believe that US invasion of Normandy and D-Day etc. was the reason Germany folded. Just imagine what would have happened if Russia had been beaten and the Allies had to face the full might of the Panzers led by brilliant generals like Rommel, Guderian …

What these Westexec advisors do is run the wars and staff the presidential offices to support their wars. They write the major media scripts that are distributed daily – and they write Biden’s teleprompts. What we can extract from these NGO affiliates is that nongovernmental means stakeholder governmental.
It means the power shift has already occurred. It means that as we pull back the red curtain of OZ, they are being forced to come out of the shadows. It means that the entire Biden Administration is a hoax. And all of the 15 cabinets overseen by the US President are fronts administered by incompetent, corrupt puppets. It means every one of these NGO’s is an affiliate/partner within the World Economic Forum and Wars have all been preceded by the Western creation of incited chaos to support the Military Industrial Complex.
Russia was taunted to go to war with Ukraine. China’s economy was destroyed by these NGO task forces to cripple it as a competitor. And the US is being ruled by bug eyed war hawks bent on making as much money as possible before Agenda 2030 coopts every global economy under the tutelage/totalitarian rule of Stakeholders.
EXCEPT. They are unprepared for the unveiling before their power vacuum is completed. This advantage came about because they did not adhere to The Art of War tenets – never underestimate your enemy:
