Most of our discussion centers on recent calls by several Republican politicians, including Vivek Ramaswamy, to send U.S. troops into Mexico to “wipe out” the Mexican drug cartels. Sounds good on the campaign trail but is a stupid, counter productive recommendation. Ryan and I talk drugs, U.S. politics and corporate corruption.

Re: Judge Nap’s interview. We here have heard much of that before, but it really was a good distillation of the situation for our ignorant friend and relatives of what is going on. Ray’s brief history of Russia being invaded from the East and then the West (Lithuania!!) would open a few eyes. And Larry’s reminder that George W Bush’s exiting SALT II prodded Russia to develop a capable missile defense, should awaken Americans from their complacency. This thing could so easily spin inexorably out of control – over a border dispute between Russian-speaking Orthodox Slavs.
Larry what are your thoughts on the accusations made about the judge? I know the suits were “quietly” settled but it does create intrigue about the character of the man you spend so much time with. Any qualms?
No. I don’t hold the Judge on a pedestal. He’s a man and he’s not perfect. And he does not present himself as such. He does interviews and asks questions. He does not limit his interviews to only people who agree with him. He has presented both sides. All you need to do is watch his interviews with Jack Devine.
Tucker Carlson is well on the way to becoming a ‘truth hero’ that undermines the western main stream media … whilst that guarantees a fast-growing following that makes him a target.
He’s apparently trying to get a sit down with Putin. That would be the most watched episode in the history of the world. And, as you say, might make him a target. Imagine somebody giving that kind of exposure to the “other side of the story.’

Whether the United States collects from Ukraine or Russia doesn’t matter. The United States picked up where Nazi Germany left off after World War 2, treating Russia and the Russian people as sub-humans — which what slavery and enslavement is all about.

To say that the United States was founded on slavery is disingenuous. The practice of forcing people into slavery was accepted in most parts of the world at the time and certainly was not an idea isolated to the young republic.
Slavery could be defined as when someone else keeps the the proceeds of your labor. Since the citizens of most countries have the majority their wages confiscated by the state, they are at best partial slaves to the state. The people coming across the border are not migrants but invaders. They are well compensated for their labors by the U.S. government. As to troops in Mexico – they would be facing some of their Ukrainian aid weapons being used by people who are seriously experienced killers with no ethical constraints at all. You’d need to do a full scale invasion, and if you cleaned up Mexico, then you’d have to keep going through Columbia and Brazil, and so on. And you’d be using the same military that got kicked out of Afghanistan. Not confidence inspiring.

I don’t think Vivek said he would send troops into Mexico. He said he would send them to the border. It was DeSantis which said he would send them into Mexico ( or concurred with the reporters suggestion).
Regarding the first video interview, there’s not a school per se on interviewing a guest, but watching Johnny Carson would help. When interviewing someone, let them complete their sentence.
I don’t want to be too critical; he appears young, and I’m sure he’ll do well with some experience.

The incredibly dumb idea of American troops going into Mexico to fight cartels is doomed to failure. First, it is impractical and illogical. The Cartels do not wear uniforms, although some have para-military style clothes, they can just take them off. So how will the US military be able to distinguish between cartel soldiers and civilian Mexicans? Does anyone think the Mexican gov will just allow something like this? If the US did it without Mexico’s approval the Mexican government will do everything in their power to make sure the US fails at its goal.
The drug war cannot be solved militarily since drugs are a supply and demand issue. As long as there is huge demand (in America) their will be drug producers. The issue is prohibition does not work. Certain drugs, mainly drugs that are naturally grown such as marijuana and cocoa should be legal and regulated.
The military approach has already been done before and it failed first in Colombia and then in Mexico. The Colombian drug war of the 1980s-1990s proves going to war with cartels does not end drug use, drug demand, or drug supplies. Yes, the war on the Medellin Cartel ended with the destruction of the original Medellin Cartel, but it cost Colombia thousands of lives and many civilian leaders were killed. The Medellin Cartel had brought the Colombian gov to its knees and had won the war if not for Pablo Escobar’s megalomania, always needing to be at war with somebody, and split within the cartel the Colombian gov would not of gotten a 2nd chance at Escobar which ended his reign. However, defeating Escobar did not end drug use, supply, or demand. Actually before Escobar’s defeat the Cali Cartel had taken over the vast majority of the world’s cocaine supply and dramatically increased it. And when the Cali Cartel’s leaders were imprisoned and killed the Norte De Valley Cartel had taken over most Colombian cocaine supply. At the same time the Mexican Cartels became the dominant drug suppliers in the world.
The Mexican military along with American agencies such as DEA, FBI, CIA, have been at war with the Mexican Cartels since 2005 at the costs of 200,000 plus Mexican lives. Despite killing or imprisoning 90% of the old capos of the cartels the supply of drugs to the US has not only not ended, but supply continues at a steady pace, even increasing during the 18 year old Mexico vs Cartels War.
American leaders foolish thinking that war is the solution to just about every problem the US faces today is one of the reasons the US debt is approaching $33 trillion. Direct US military war in Mexico is not the solution for the US drug problem. Ending prohibition, legalizing, taxing, and regulating drugs, labeling drug addiction as a disease (and treating addicts) instead of a crime is the only way to finally solve America’s drug problem.
