This is like shooting fish in a barrel. I could not resist the temptation to expose the massive hypocrisy. With Bakhmut on the verge of full collapse into the hands of the Russians, the political whores that populate Washington and Europe are out now in full battle cry — BAKHMUT IS NOT IMPORTANT!! Understand?
Well let’s take a short stroll down memory lane. This is what was being said three months ago:
January 23, 2023 (Impact Nottingham):
At first, Bakhmut wasn’t considered strategically significant, not until the Russians captured the cities of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk, two key strategic cities in the Luhansk Oblast. The city also became iconic and symbolic after President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Washington and gave a speech in which he mentioned the city. Zelensky himself compared it to the Battle of the Bulge, the last major offensive launched by Nazi Germany to attack the Allied forces on the Western front, which only ended in disaster and with huge casualties.
Some have pointed out that Bakhmut’s strategic importance and location is why both Ukrainian and Russian troops have directed a lot of attention to Bakhmut . The city is located on the key supply routes and communications site between the two largest Ukrainian cities in the Donetsk Oblast; Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. The former is the de-facto capital of the Donetsk Oblast after Separatists from the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) captured it briefly in 2014.
Losing Bakhmut to Russian forces would effectively destroy the large number of Ukrainian troops stationed there, which protect the city from Russian capture, and would open the gateway to a rapid Russian capture of the entire Donetsk Oblast, leaving Ukraine with less troops to defend against the larger Russian army. This would make it nearly impossible to fully re-capture the Russian occupied territories in Ukraine.
Russian forces appear close to capturing a small but strategically important town on the front lines of the war in eastern Ukraine. . . .
Bakhmut has become a symbol of Ukraine’s defiance against Russian aggression, with Zelenskyy mentioning the struggle to hold the city in his address to the U.S. Congress in December and giving then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a Ukrainian flag signed by soldiers from his visit to the front lines there a day earlier.
December 14, 2022 (Ukrainian Daily News):
Military expert Oleg Zhdanov explained the strategic importance of Bakhmut. He said this on his YouTube channel. According to him, if Bakhmut is taken, the way to Slovyansk will open before the invaders.
“But that’s not the point. In case the occupiers take Bakhmut, we have the next line of defense ready there. They won’t advance any further. And they have to keep on going to Slovyansk,” Zhdanov noted.
The expert once again emphasized that the fact of victory is not important for the Russian Federation, but the strategic importance of the city.

December 14, 2022 (TRT World):
So what makes Bakhmut such a crucial front in the Ukraine war? And why is Russia putting in so many resources to capture a small city that “would have limitedoperational value”?
For the uninitiated, Bakhmut is located on a strategic supply line between Donetsk and Luhansk, the two separatist-held regions in Ukraine’s Donbass region, which Russia claimed to have annexed a few months ago.
Experts agree that the capture of Bakhmut could potentially change the course of the conflict and give Russia a platform to launch a broader campaign across many parts of Ukraine.
Now that Bakhmut is slipping from the control of Ukraine we are told, Never Mind.
Emily Litella has been reincarnated:
March 6, 2023 (US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin):
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Monday if Russian troops manage to seize control of the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, that would not represent a decisive shift in the conflict.
“I think it is more of a symbolic value than it is strategic and operational value,” Austin told reporters during a visit to Jordan.
March 3, 2023 (The Washington Post):
Bakhmut was “not a particularly symbolically or strategically important city” originally, said Karolina Hird, Russia analyst at the Institute for the Study of War. It’s more than 30 miles from the closest major cities, Kramatorsk and Slovyansk.
February 14, 2023 (The Guardian):
Russian forces have made incremental progress in the last day or two in their assault on the Ukrainian city of Bahkmut but it is unclear if it will fall, the White House has said. John Kirby, the US national security council spokesperson, added that if Bakhmut were to fall to the Russians “it would not have a strategic impact on the overall war”.
In addition to hypocrisy, there is what I describe as “Bat Shit Crazy.” And that award goes to David Axe who writes for Forbes Magazine. He takes delusional thought into the Twilight Zone:
There are just two roads out of Bakhmut for Ukrainian troops. Russian forces are within rocket range of both of them. And that means that, after nine months of brutal fighting, the battle for Bakhmut is entering what could be its decisive phase.
In the coming hours or days, it’s possible one of two things will happen. The Russians advance so close to the two roads that the Ukrainians retreat in order to avoid encirclement. Or the Ukrainians counterattack and push back the Russians.
The former would resolve the long, awful fight over Bakhmut. The latter would prolong it. In any event, the ultimate outcome should be the same. Whether or not they capture the virtually lifeless ruins of Bakhmut, the Russians have expended a lot of their combat power.
Which appears to be exactly what the Ukrainians wanted. They apparently have used Bakhmut—and the Kremlin’s weird obsession with the town—to bleed Russian forces and, in so doing, set the conditions for a long-planned spring offensive.
Wow! I never realized that the Ukrainians decided to incur enormous casualties among their troops in order to lure the Russians into a clever NATO trap. Reminds me of the strategy of Monty Python’s Black Knight:
This is the world we live in. Russia has lopped off the arms and legs of the Ukrainians and President Zelensky and General Zalushny insist it is only a flesh wound. This absurdity would normally be great grist for a comedy sketch. But there is nothing humorous about this war, it is a profound tragedy. Tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are being sacrificed needlessly because NATO wants to use Ukraine as a proxy to fight Russia. And behind these horrendous casualties there are hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian mothers, fathers and siblings mourning the loss of a loved one.
Any article that includes a Monty Python reference is already a winner with me.
As soon as I read the last of that asinine Forbes bit at the end, I swear I said “None shall pass!”.
I would say great minds think alike, but I know one of us falls a bit short of the other in that department, and it ain’t you.
Thanks for speaking out when others who should be your house cleaner, well, maybe not, Washington DC Establishment folks have sticky fingers and seem not to be able to stop themselves when presented a chance to relapse into old habits.
NYT Breaking News (you heard it here first): North Stream SOLVED!
According to the very best Biden government sources, in mid 2022, A pro-Ukrainian group within Russia hijacked a mini-sub from the St. Petersburg naval depot. Equipped with the very latest sonar diffraction devices, ballasts filled with extra fuel and hundreds of kilograms of high yield explosives, set off on a dangerous journey into NATO territory to destroy the North Stream pipelines. After having almost been caught by NATO naval vessels and one large Danish fishing net, they managed to plant the explosives, disguise themselves as a semi-submerged log while traversing Swedish territorial waters and set off the blast by remote control.
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/07/us/politics/nord-stream-pipeline-sabotage-ukraine.html
My first thought was from “Get Smart”. “Would you believe…??”:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0Hd2e_tRBlY
I first heard a version of the NYT scenario in a George Eliason and John Helmer 18 Feb 2023 War of the Worlds broadcast on TNT Radio. They spent about 30 minutes dissecting/ discrediting Hersh’s article then posited that the NordStream sabotage was carried out by Ukrainian drivers (podcast at appx 35.00). Listen to broadcast for details.
Note that it was quite by chance that I heard the Eliason/ Helmer podcast. My reference thereto is not intended to endorse but wonder what connection, if any, there might be between the NYT publication and Eliason/ Helmer podcast?
They have to keep their “plausible deniability” of the story going given the false flag they are planning so they can say, “see, we told you so. Now do you see how evil Russia is?” More “weapons of mass destruction” bullshit coming soon. The timing of this article is very suspect, right after the fall of a “not-so-strategically-important city.” Whatever it is, it has to be huge enough to rally the fence-sitters and remaining sheeple who can’t see through their bullshit. They have to get this WWIII up to speed and “cooking with gas.” The election campaigns are coming soon.
What’s the airspeed of a laden Lancet drone?
Lancet 1 or Lancet 3?
(African or European?)
Speaking of delusions of grandeur, I read in the online site English News Front, quoting an article from the Hudson Institute, that US Navy Admiral Charles Richard thinks that “Russia’s war in Europe” is a “warm-up” for a larger conflict with the Chinese Communists. And concludes:
“The US must build on its achievements in Ukraine and prepare for a bigger battle that it cannot afford to lose.”
If this is all true, what I find truly scary is that an Admiral in the US Navy honestly thinks getting one’s arse handed back on a plate is an achievement and good preparation for a conflict against an even bigger foe.
I agree with your “…If this is all true, what I find truly scary is that an Admiral in the US Navy honestly thinks getting one’s arse handed back on a plate is an achievement and good preparation for a conflict against an even bigger foe.”
But, before I got that far, I was already thinking about the bat shit craziness of
someone from the US Navy thinking the US is building on its achievements!!??? WT?? Bat shit crazy alright. Destroying Ukraine, thousands & thousands of dead military on both sides but the Ukrainians more so, all of the destruction & devastation in Ukraine, etc. And some in Russia from the dingbats sending missiles into Russia, the Nordstream pipeline sabotage, etc. They should be hanging their heads instead, or sent to the corner for a MAJOR timeout.
Yeah, the US Navy. They never did figure out how to stop their own surface ships from hitting commercial traffic at sea that is observing international navigation protocols. The crews are so inept that a large assault ship tied up in port is allowed to burn for 3 days while limp wristed sailors try an fail to put it out. A total loss. If these fags had been aboard the USS Franklin in 1945 or the USS Forrestal in 1967 those ships would have been lost.
The Admirals have all been getting in in retirement while whole classes of warships have been developed and commissioned only to be proven to be useless. Proven ship designs were retired early to make way for these failures, and there is now a growing capability gap. Meanwhile, the subsonic and short range Harpoon missile is still the mainstay of our anti ship arsenal. It is far outclassed by range, speed, and sophistication by modern missiles in the hands of hostile powers, some of whom do not even have a navy to speak of. When that bill comes due, a lot of the rainbow sailors are gonna be headed to Davy Jones before they get a chance to cash in their GI Bill college credits. The recruiting problems will then be getting much worse. I would not put too much stock into anything a Navy admiral has to say about warfighting.
Prediction: The Houthies in Yeman will take a shot at a passing US carrier in the Red Sea with a large barrage of modern ASM some day. I bet they sink it. There will then be a lot of shouting, running up and down the hall, and doors slamming all over the Pentagon.
That’s possible. It is true that a modern supercarrier would be tough to sink, if it were empty! But when loaded, it’s like a combined fuel tanker and ammo ship, with loaded aircraft on deck with zero protection. In the two ships you cite, the damage was minor, but the chain reaction explosions aboard ship went on for an hour and almost sunk those ships.
As the late USA military reformer put it shortly before his death two years ago, “The US Navy now has two kinds of ships: submarines and targets.”
Well, honestly, US has its set of accomplishments:
1) Europe relies on US now. They have become slaves to the US.
2) Tens of thousands of Russians are killed. And this comes at 0 casualties to US!
3) They are freely throwing sanctions around now as and when they want.
4) They have earned a lot selling weapons.
5) They have cleared their old stockpile.
Of course, theres a minor issue with the state of Ukraine now. But that has nothing to do with US! Ukraine are true heroes to die for their democracy that has nothing to do with US. It was Russians who invaded and caused Ukraine to die, which has nothing to do with the US.
See? US is so great! It has achieved its objectives, with 0 casualties (non US citizens aint counted), killed tens of thousands of Russians, sold their useless old stockpile of weapons for plenty of cash, took in plenty of future orders, forcing Europe to buy their weapons and LNG. Everything else are just minor details that are so unimportant.
By the way, I heard China is rich, so maybe its time to do the same and earn from the Chinese!
Bingo!
On the body count you are right.
You are also right on the profiting from the war by selling EU oil and gas and weapons and weakening their industry and economies.
However I wish to put forward an argument.
If US had lost 10,000 men and related equipment and even lost the military engagement it wouldn’t have been so bad.
What US( and EU assisting) has done with this Ukraine moment in time is unique. They have caused losses of their own power that nobody else could achieve. Ultimately what US and EU have done is given themselves a terminal dose of Radiation to their Empire if 500 years.
No competitor could have done to shake the foundations of their hegemony of 500 years what US and West have done to themselves.
First with the Racist over the top reaction to Ukraine and trying to make it the preeminent issue for rest of the world they have ( especially in the day and age of instant social media) convinced the huge parts of the world and rendered the significant and powerful fifth column in rest of the world weak) that they are not what they claim but just run of the mill racists who destroyed more than half a dozen countries to a worst fate than Ukraine but are asking for sympathy for themselves.
This has awakened a resolve within the rest of the world to not view incidents of oppression economic or military one country at a time and only get worried when it happens to them but to view the actions of the hegemony in its entirety.
It also has shown that the excuses used of late like democracy, human rights, women’s rights etc are just the new names for the colonial excuses previously ie civilising mission or the white mans burden.
People around the world now understand that they were being kept in a permanent set of under development by an corrupted and compromised elite, and a set of conditions imposed on them by the hegemon.
Those conditions included under development of local agriculture, prevention of earning revenue from people’s industry mainly in agriculture by preventing both development and export where possible. Cheap imports from West and subsidies to western farmers and companies are used as a tool to keep zone B from producing and earning from a sector they can easily master without external help.
When that is not possible the West imposes chaos in the countries to destroy budding agriculture and industry. Then post chaos they impose IMF and WB conditions and loans so they can be kept dependant for ever.
This is going to be stopped soon
If a country like india which was racked with famines at time of Independence can feed 1.4 billion people and not just generate surplus but also export food then rest of the world can not only feed itself but also the west.
I notice on Direct TV there are quite a few channels without programming running same ad to raise money for Ukraine people. It shows various sad video and pictures of war there. It is for a Jewish charity.
I was browsing and kept seeing it. I don’t watch much TV-I don’t know if it has been shown some time.
Wonder who is behind it being on so many channels?
My thought is someone has an agenda. Of course that makes me heatless-already a white supremacist racist.
jewish charity is likely to be as honest and altruistic as ‘jewish lighting ‘ (or jewish CEOs of Sheizer, MURDeRNA, Astra Satanica etc)
The charity you refer to is a Jewish/pseudo Christian organization that has been running ads soliciting donations for aged Holocaust survivors supposedly dying in Russia. They have a scam on food boxes being given to these poor aged women living in abject poverty. It’s call The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Not sure if it’s legit, but they’ve now focused on Jews in Ukraine. They’re had Mike Huckabee promoting it. Here’s their website: https://www.ifcj.org/tv
The commercials I have seen from them on Fox News talk about “elderly holocaust survivors” starving in Israel. Never any mention of why these people aren’t being helped by the Israeli governmentor relatives. In one they actually said it has been many decades since one woman has had unleavened bread. Statements like that are accompanied by an old woman groaning in pain.
I don’t understand why the Christian right that the Fox News commercials are targetting is so fond of Jewish Israel since there is a huge divergence in their viewpoints around 2000 years ago. The Muslims have a higher opinion of Jesus Christ than Jews in Israel.
I recall seeing them ads watching late nite TV. If my memory serves me well, I remember the same old lady who was receiving the fabulous food box in Russia, a little while later receiving a fabulous food box in Israel. She sure gets around.
That is the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews being promoted by that huckster-opportunist Mike Hucksterbee, errrr, I mean Huckabee.
If they are so concerned about those old poverty stricken Ukrainian Jewish men and women, why don’t they approach Michael Bloomberg, or Judge Judy or the widow of Sheldon Adelson, all of whom are billionaires and each one of them could write a check that would collect every last one of those elderly impoverished Ukrainian Jews and fly them all to Israel and set each one up with a nice apartment and pension. But if that were to happen that would end the money train for the FC&J and old Huckabee would have to look elsewhere for grift money.
It is a Khazarian thing.
Specifically, secret history of the khazarian mafia thing.
My closest–tho still one step removed–contact to the Ukraine commanded me to view the Oryx website, which strangely and inexplicably lists items of Ukrainian and Russian armaments not yet damaged. Interesting photos of each class of gear, but actually no tallies of starting inventories, losses to-date, and current forces (presumably bolstered by gifts).
The poor dude is totally blinded, in part by an affair of the heart, so cannot see the desperation such a fig leaf covers, or what absurdity is projected to anybody who has at least one good eye left when he cites those claiming that Russia has lost 100,000 K.I.A. This, notwithstanding the BBC recently toiling away to ferret out every single obituary, honorary ceremony, news notice, or other plausible proof of death and not even scraping up against 20,000.
Someone remarked that the “I stand with the Ukraine” rag-wagglers were on the one hand old boomers (as this fellow) or the current crop of adolescent younglings reared on non-think and smartphone addictions to whatever is the meme of the day.
And yet, the gent in question was NOT raised on the unthinking hatred for Russia that was all too prevalent decades ago. Besides “romance,” where’d it come from?
It exceeds comprehension.
Meanwhile, America has veered pell-mell into a societal malaise that looks a lot like 1989 Soviet Union, while the Russian Federation is looking something like America in 1947.
Barring NATO Neocon ninnie Nuland and her Klan of Kagan and its nuclear lust, what Russians have today is theirs to lose or keep and improve, ours to try to somehow regain.
Cue the scene, “Rosebud, Rosebud,” as a child’s sled of the Rosebud brand is thrown into the furnace.
It is basically boomerang karma.
USSA is getting what they dished out to RUssia in the 1990s. And J6 2021 was just Maidan 2014 reflected back on us.
Of course Vladimir kicked out the bolshevisk, traitors, child molestors, and khazarian oligarchs, and the soviets ended up setting up shop in Soviet Ukraine and the United Soviet States of America.
Then there is the Nazi cia paperclip issue…
“Surely the invincible Ukrainian military couldn’t have lost any city! It is the fault of the city of Bahkmut itself to have uprooted from its critically strategic location under impenetrable Ukrainian protection and choosing to go to such an insignificant and useless location that is in the middle of those pesky Russians. We scoff at this foolish and delusional backwater mere village that insists on calling itself a city!”
And the punchline? The Russian Army is not even committed. Yes, the cannon cockers are having a high old time. Yes, some limited aviation is going on. But the entire Western World, NATO, and the US are losing primarily to Donbas militias and freaking Wagner. But of course, the Spanish are sending 6 !!!SIX!!! Leopard tanks! Gamechanger! (When they get around to it.) After Franco, nothing ever moves fast in Spain.
I see no signs that the Russian mobilization of 300,000 or 500,000 or whatever it is has been inserted. I also do not see that Russia is pumping their full military arms production in. They are waging the most measured, slow played offensive I have ever seen.
They are doing a military campaign version of the French Foreign Legion “Arrogant March”. The 88-step-per-minute march speed. Which on a regular basis I share with myself and a beer thru a YouTube video.
While the Western economies grind thru the last of their Covid stimulus money, and watch their economies slowly, slowly, slowly creak to a halt.
I do not attribute Russian chess genius status to their military and leadership. But, when they are facing Macron, Scholz, and Biden? Oh, and whoever is running the asylums in Italy and Spain today? How fucking smart do you have to be?
But. Here is the fear. When the truth is there. When there is no media pablum version of it that makes the medicine taste good. Do these crazy fuckers go all in? Because as an esteemed commentator posted here. Shit will change. This is for all the marbles. (My word version)
“They are waging the most measured, slow played offensive I have ever seen.”
I call it Anaconda-krieg.
The Germans invented Blitzkrieg, but that’s just a sprint.
Anaconda-krieg requires stamina, resources, staying power.
Less glamorous, less dramatic, but inexorable and certain.
You mean Squeezekrieg?
Well, Russia is doing what has to be done. They have stated their goals many times. But the west doesn’t seem to comprehend that message. Russia is already set up for a conflict with Nato. They already fight Nato in Ukraine. Nothing new here.
Russia doesn’t get distracted by all that BS PR from the west. Russia does exactly what they said they want to achieve. The coping of the west is epic. It’s not worth of a discussion in my opinion. Let the west write all that delusional stuff, make up numbers and play down their losses. The more they lie, invent and tweak, the more we know they are loosing and that they are in big agony about it.
The Russians are adopting much of the refined strategic changes I made after reviewing Vietnam, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
There were a lot of problems with those wars and offensives, and later on I redeveloped what I liked to call strategic offense, tactical defense. We move into a certain place that the enemy has to defend, such as the capital of Persia or Mecca/Medina, and then we sit there. No search and destroy, no house to house, no air bomber raiding anybody. Just sit there and let them come to us. Fortify and build deep underground. Stockpile ammo and food. And just let them come. For about 6-8 months, let them attack using the advantage of the defender’s 3 to 1 and 10 to 1 ratios.
What was the ratio of kill for Donbass militias vs Kiev/NATO? Maybe 5 to 1. And with Russia’s help, 8 or 10 to 1. 8 or 10 Azov/NATO trained army dead for one Donbass/R Federation.
I took some inspiration from Xenophon’s March to the sea. Straight through Persia out of enemy territory. Except the attacking army (ours) should hold the local territorial defensive advantage and have unbroken lines of logistics, unlike Xenophon’s little band. Hannibal Barca’s campaign in Italy also gave me some ideas.
I don’t know if Russians naturally think like chess grandmasters or if this is due to their inherent traditional method of warfare, but they are utilizing my strategies quite well.
Petraeus reformed a little bit of COIN, using the search and destroy inkblot system. That was the strategic offense and tactical defense flipped around, where the objective was now to strategically hold territory and cities, against terrorist incursions using local tribes as allies, and tactical attack. But before Saddam fell, optimally they should have used the strategic offense, tactical defense setup and allowed the regime to continue fighting for more than long enough that diplomacy/logistics is expended.
So instead of the USA ignoring the UN and other European nations, instead we just slow crawl into Iraq and negotiate as we go. But USA didn’t adopt that for some reason, and I was not in a position to enforce my vision either.
But now that RUssia is crushing nATO in Ukraine… well, now is different.
Piles of bodies found in Poland Mine System
” ’tis but a flesh wound”
https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/sitrep-3623-bakhmut-noose-tightens
More than 500 military corpses found in Polish mine, including military personnel
The burial ground was found in the Bogdanka coal mine (40 km from the border with Ukraine). Now the Polish military has come to the place to conduct conversations with hard workers. Several miners were taken to Lublin after interrogation.
There are rumors among the Poles that the bodies of foreign mercenaries who died in the NVO zone were brought there. According to another version, these are the bodies of wounded UAF soldiers, who were torn apart into organs, allegedly being taken to Europe for “treatment”.
POLISH MINERS DISCOVER UKRAINIAN MILITARY CORPSES – WERE DISEMBOWELED FOR ORGAN HARVESTING
👉 Polish officials are trying to prevent a scandal from breaking out: in the Bogdanka mine, miners discovered a burial approximately five-hundred bodies of men in the remains of military uniforms, some pieces of clothing have chevrons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
🔹At the moment, special services are conducting investigations with employees who discovered a terrifying find in an abandoned shaft. After interrogation, some of the miners were transported to Lublin. Many Ukrainians work in the facility (the mine is located 40 km from the Ukrainian border), thanks to which secret information was leaked to Ukraine.
👉 People say that the bodies found, they say, have been disemboweled, and they are sure that they are wounded Ukrainian soldiers who, under the guise of treatment, were brought to Poland by black market transplantologists.
Europe’s hyena is at it again
you got that all wrong- they were merely embalmed, hence disembowelment…
(any hints of sarcasm are purely coincidental)
Anything with the idea of transplant bandits in is clearly fake – there is just no scale for that kind of thing, and the need to match donor with receiver makes the whole idea impossible.
Bodies found in mine though – that is credible.
I agree with you Michael Droy.
But many people here just want to believe. So they believe anything they want, without second thoughts. (They don’t even have one).
my, my- do we have an objective, critical mind on our hand or what…
on a more serious note:
compatibilty tests could have been performed in UA prior to transfer to Poland, organ could be everywhere on the planet within 24 hours- so it`s not like an impossible feat…
So, all the stories of Kosovo organ-harvesting by Thaci and thugs is pure nonsense then? BTW: How is Thaci’s war crimes trial going?
There are huge lists of recipients waiting for donors worldwide and not much these days is involved to complete a compatible match within hours.
Those who find a recipient falling within shelf-life are sold. The rest in the trash.
@Simple, Simon
Funny you ask as latest news on the trial suggests that the Prosecution has expanded the Criminal Charges with names of 102 largely Albanian victims and included a few more former KLA (UCK) leaders. The trial is scheduled to begin 03 April 2023.

I get a laugh every time someone mentions the Institute for the Study of War. This is the CV for Karolina Hird, their top notch Russia analyst, mentioned in the article above:
“Karolina is a Russia Analyst and Evans Hanson Fellow at the Institute for the Study of War. Karolina is a senior member of the team that produces the daily Russian Campaign Assessments since spring 2022. Karolina particularly focuses on Russian operational campaign design and the humanitarian aspects of the war in Ukraine, particularly the issue of forced deportations and adoption of Ukrainian children. Karolina has been quoted in Reuters, The Telegraph, NPR, The Daily Beast, Task and Purpose, Newsweek, Voice of America, and others. Karolina regularly briefs senior military and political decision-makers. Karolina received a BA in International Affairs from The George Washington University, where she focused on international security, international law, and gender analysis.”
Regularly briefing senior military and political decision makers? On what? Gender analysis? Hmm, probably more vital to understanding the war than, say, speaking Russian or having some amount of military background. No wonder the US is circling the drain if that’s the best they can call on.
As an admiral John Kirby might have a bit more gravitas. He grew up in St Petersburg …. but the one in Florida, so I guess it’s the thought that counts. After joining the Navy he … qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard the guided-missile frigate USS Aubrey Fitch before being designated as a restricted line officer, to service as a public affairs officer (PAO).
And from then on that’s all he did … public relations for the Navy, which I guess gives him a stellar insight into what is primarily a LAND WAR in Ukraine. These people. Have they no self-awareness? Are they incapable of admitting that they don’t know sh*t on the topic and should go back to doing something useful, if that’s at all possible.
There is a nice info pic of the Institute connections to the Kagans and the Brookins Institute.
Look at who the kagan bros are married to and follow that connection to institute of war and then later nuland.
They don’t need to know sh*t. They extrude their own on demand.
BTW, Simplicius The Thinker has a new article up on this same topic: https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/sitrep-3623-bakhmut-noose-tightens
In it he says: “… the people squabbling over its strategic worth miss the finer point: which is that it’s principally irrelevant if Bakhmut has ‘strategic’ value or not. As I’ve outlined before, in September of 2022, Vladimir Putin signed a decree officially welcoming the Donetsk Oblast as an official, constitutional territory of the Russian Federation.
“In short, this means ‘strategy’ has nothing to do with it — Russian forces are legally obligated to liberate this now ‘occupied Russian territory’ from the invader. It’s as simple as that. Even if it was the least strategically significant parcel of land on Holy Earth, they’ve still got to liberate it as it is now 100% legal Russian territory in the eyes of the Russian constitution. Let’s not be hoodwinked into thinking Russia has been ‘tricked’ into dying over ‘strategically irrelevant land’ — it’s a smokescreen to hide the truth.”
So that’s another view, but you won’t read it in the Western mudstream media.
The intensity and volume of Western propaganda regarding Ukraine/Russia is the most of any international geopolitical matter I’ve seen in my entire life – and I’m just old enough to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis. It certainly surpasses Cold War, Vietnam, Gulf I or II, 9/11, War on Terror, Afghanistan, the Skripals and on and on.
Together with the (now unravelling) untruths sold as gospel in respect of Covid, the only reasonable consequence is to not believe anything one is told. Unfortunately, I’ve reached that point.
CIA Director William Casey is supposed to have said to incoming President Reagan in 1981
“We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the [American] public believes is false.”
How is that healthy?
Excellent comment. But I do have a point to make. Is this the most intense propaganda we have ever seen? Or thru alternative media sources like the most excellent Mr. Johnson? Do we now know? I was telling someone the other day. Everything you now, for the last 200 years of American history is a lie.
Pearl Harbor. We were just sitting there. Doing nothing to nobody. And those cowardly Japs attacked us!! I think with a little study that is patently a lie. We were pushing the Japanese hard. (Like we are China now). We were going to destroy them. There is some evidence they told us the attack is coming. The figurehead of the moment for the powerful in the White House desperately needed an incident to get us into the war. And magically! Here it is.
Love, hate the internet and smart phones. For the first time EVER. We are actually seeing fragments of the truth. For those who will merely open their eyes.
Hi Curt,
For me, the biggest problem is loss of confidence in truthfulness of *anything* anyone official says. Of course, politicians lie. However, time was when 1) the media “kept the bastards honest” and 2) there were opposition political voices doing the same. Vietnam and Gulf II are obvious examples.
Now we have politicians of all flavours saying exactly the same thing (eg “Russia bad”) while the legacy media simply copy, paste then jazz up the press releases (“Russia even worse than you thought”).
It’s not that everything is a lie – as we know propaganda works by sprinkling truth in with the lies. The problem now, for me, is I trust nothing/no-one until there is objective evidence and that can be hard to find. For all I know, the bloggers/alt-media/etc are just as full of BS, but at least a variety of voices is more likely to get somewhere near(er) the truth.
A historical note: I recall learning about the 1930s and lead up to Pearl Harbour back in high school (sometime in the late Cretaceous period 🙂 ). Even back then it was clear the Japanese were sanctioned/goaded/provoked (that’s not to support the Imperial philosophy or its hideous actions in Asia). In short, there were no good guys. Unfortunately, the study of history is not pursued adequately in our education, else we might stop behaving like goldfish.
When I met William Casey he was clearly deolali and I was seriously unimpressed. Then again, why should I have been impressed ?
I have met very few so-called “insiders” that had the ability or intelligence to impress
Casey’s tenure was a watershed in the CIA’s imperial role, so a minor addendum to your Casey quote may be in order…
He said it during his first meeting with staff on his appointment to office, and the woman who took the minutes of that meeting later verified it publicly.
BTW, Casey served as Reagan’s campaign manager and was the first CIA Director appointed to the Cabinet, thus bringing the CIA into a position to shape and enact US foreign policy. His tenure saw the CIA greatly expand its direct activities to shape the internal & external affairs of foreign countries and international media.
Allen Dulles may not have been in the Cabinet, but his brother was. According to Stephen Kinzer in “Brothers” the pair never went into a foreign policy meeting with Eisenhower and/or other senior officials without coordinating a united front, which almost always carried the day.
How come Russia is bleeding in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) when over 90 percent of its armed forces in the Donbass region and the remaining 100 percent active duty inside Russia itself remain intact?
Wagner is bleeding but on their terms. Russia’s reserves now outnumber anything Ukraine can deploy.
Russia needs those numbers because of Nato. I have the feeling that Nato will do something (probably stupid), because they starting to say that Russia can’t win this “war”. Poland is strengthening their border to Belarus. This is a sign to me. Alot of US weapons are in Poland already. Who knows if they go to Ukraine or if they maybe will be used to open another front by some false flag with Belarus.
One thing is clear to me … Nato is determined to go along with this conflict and to (somehow) defeat Russia. Russian leadership seems to consider something will happen too, because they have already switched to war economy and have build up their reserves in case they need them. Also, EU can’t afford to pay that much for energy now. I think they were counting that they will get what they wanted simply by burying Russia under a ton of sanctions. Now that they know they will never get cheap Russian energy supplies they know exactly that this will eventually kill most of their manufacturing economy.
EU has painted itself into a corner and need to break out of there. Giving Ukraine free money and weapons hasn’t changed a thing. This was already a desperate move. What will be the next desperate move by EU/Nato?
I think this is why Russia doesn’t take the simple step of pushing down from Belarus to cut off Kiev and the Donbass from the west. It might encourage the Poles to attack Belarus.
Russia doesn’t want to drag Belarus into this mess the Nato started. But they know by the actions of EU (they don’t recognize Lukashenko as the democratic leader), that they very well would try to attack Belarus, as an allay of Russia, thinking that it simply is not Russia and there would be no consequences for them. But since Russia has moved alot of sophisticated military equipment there, this may be a reason and *the* message to Nato. Belarus is now, in my opinion, a backup force for any stupid idea those Nato bubble-heads could come up.
Nato already operates with many mercenaries in Ukraine. That is good. They die like flies and that already tells something to everyone interested. Nato may have no option but a nuclear strike at Russia. But that is a 100% guarantee of the destruction of Europe anyway. There is only one way out of this and that is the dissolvement of Nato. It would free Europe from the grip of the US and end once and for all that aggressive terror organization. It would also give a good explanation for the actions of the member countries, as they could just say they did all of that while being bullied by their master the US.
There is something going on, which smells like a deeper escalation coming from Nato. We will see.
Hi Larry,
Regarding Wagner group, lately we see that they seem to have some messages over the lack of ammunition from Russia. What are your thoughts on it, and would it cause a crack between Wagner and Russia that may cause an impact to the Ukraine war?
My uninformed guess: when the BBC and NPR keep quoting Yevgeny Prigozhin from social media, they are repeating exactly what the Russian military command wants us to wish, so keep feeding the cannon fodder into Bahkmut!
In all likelihood, the Wagner Co. Ltd. right now exercise complete command of the situation in the Artemovsk. They’re interested about encouraging the NATO-paid infantile comedian/president Zelinski and his team dispatch as many drugged neonazi hooligans into the killing zone. Zelinski will do that for sure, because that’s how he can get paid. Looking at the map we see the Russians are leaving a small western part of the city still open so that those tattooed neonazis would move in and out, albeit with difficulty.
You push all in in poker to signal confidence in your superiority. The goal is take the pot without a conflict.
After these satanists are finished fighting the Russians until the last Ukrainian these psychos will move onto fight China until the last Taiwanese. Cue horse hoofs in the distance.
OK, this battle is over. What will come next is now the 1000 Dollar question. Any ideas?
Odessa
Odessa is a bit far right now. And too much strategic implications …plus it might bait the west.
What we will probably see is the reductions of the 404 positions around south-Donetsk (Vuledar) ,Donetsk (Avdeevka , Marinka) and north Donetsk (Niew Yiork) , Securing of the Artemovsk position (Chassiv Yar), maybe a push to Slaviansk-Kramatorsk but no cauldron yet and continuation of the AFU patrols pounding on the northern (Kremmenaya/Kharkov) and southern front (Kherson). I don’t know what will happen to Severtsk and I can’t find a reason for attacking or defending it right now.
We don’t see a war anymore , we are seeing a militarized manhunt. Drones are the dogs , howitzers are the rifles and AFU is the game … poor folks, sadly dying for not much…
Bingo! As long as the Ukrainians are coming to die? Why do a big offense? They solidify Bakhmut. Wait out mud season. Deal with whatever media show the Ukraine band-aid together as a Spring offensive. And then the slow map ink blob continues Westward.
Maybe, but Odessa is much bigger than Bakhmut, far away also.
All in all, I am not sure that an offensive is such a simple thing to do.
Just bombing towns would make the population suffer heavily. As with Afghanistan, you could see that it was quickly occupied, but never surrendered and finally won the war.
So, Russia has to avoid this situation. But how?
It took months for the Russians to take Mariupol, some months to take Bakhmut .. I wonder how many years they will need to take Odessa ..
(No that I do not agree with you. If they want the show to go on, they must look for another goal).
No way.
Russia is not going to fight in any of the big cities. Especially not Odessa which is a very important for Russia.
Part of the reason they go slow is to destroy maximum AmeriNATO/Ukraine forces possible where they are right now.
Russia knows it has to rebuild everything after the war ends so they will avoid fighting in the big cities.
In my opinion the Russian actions of the past few weeks on the northern front, Avdivka, Marinka, Ugledar and Zaporizhia region are to spread the AmeriNATO/Ukraine forces out along the front and force them into active engagement to stop Russian progress.
I think the skirmishes we are seeing all along the front line are meant to bring the Russians into initial contact so they can prepare for the killing blow.
This allows Russia to reconnoiter with special forces, drones, satellite and counter battery to establish targets and supply/travel routes.
They can’t get this precise information from afar, and they need to draw maximum AmeriNATO forces into close proximity.
At the same time this allows Russia to bring in artillery, stockpile ammunition, as well as position tanks, IFV and personnel in preparation for a spring shock and awe once the ground is dry enough to drive across country.
In my opinion Russia will go for a knock out blow- focused on destroying a large % of the AmeriNATO/Ukraine forces quickly.
Once they have greatly diminished or eliminated the AmeriNATO/Ukraine war fighting capability and with 500,000 troops and equipment in Ukraine- they will rapidly push towards their ultimate goals- quite likely Ukraines western border.
At which point they will set up a heavily defended DMZ, turn their backs on Europe and get on with reforming and rebuilding Ukraine.
If they have to blockade the cities into surrender- they will. But they will not enter them to fight.
Ultimately there are many silent Russian friendlies among east and south Ukraine.
Ukrainians are survivors- once they see the writing on the wall, they will accept Russian rule.
I am an expat who was living in Ukraine until a few months ago.
At this point people in Ukraine want the war to end and some normal life to return.
In the east and south most will quickly embrace the stability and future Russia offers.
The nazi west will be the DMZ.
Once Russia has military control over Ukraine, they can offer inducements like improved pensions, low natural gas prices and can quickly rebuild the Ukraine electricity grid as they have all the pieces(or the ability to manufacture them quickly) needed to rebuild it.
That this war happened is terrible- 100% America’s fault.
But in the end the citizens of Ukraine who are fortunate enough to end up living under Russian rule will soon realize they dodged a bullet as the “west” collapses.
Chasov Yar is next. Then Konstantinovka and Seversk. Then Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. Just like Putin said, this will take a while. I believe the goal is to win by attrition before ever getting close to big Cities like Kharkov or Zaporozhie. Completely destroying smaller towns makes more sense than flattening big cities.
Biden, Nuland, Blinken, Sullivan and Co. will all be flat-out busted on their Nordstream crime via a group of patriotic whistleblowers whose characters cannot be destroyed.
Even CNN and The New York Slimes will have to grovel to the world.
That WILL happen.
Biden and Co.’s House of Lies will come spilling out for the whole world to see.
And the Ukraine grift will end.
I found the Australian article interesting, it had a photo of a Ukrainian soldier who looks to be over 60 years old. If they were fielding that quality of soldiers in October last year, what are they like now?
It should be equally worrying to western people that from the same offices and companies of these fools comes the rest of your news and information about elections, the economy, national security and of course two of my favourites, gender confusion and gender neutral God.
It’s a very long way back for all of you, when you can turn around that is.

https://www.sandboxx.us/blog/why-calling-russias-kinzhal-a-hypersonic-missile-is-a-stretch/
Right. A Communications major? Nonsense not worthy of a response.
Good point!
The swamp has come out with this callous/sick idea that sure Ukrainians are dying in droves and will probably lose one day but weakening Russia is a cheap price to pay. Have they never heard “adversity makes you stronger”? Probably not because mostly trust fund babies who went to primary schools that cost more than Harvard are running the show. But Russia will have the most battle hardened troops and be more advanced when this is all over – short of nuclear war to stop them – they could march on Spain.
Just like Aesop fable: The Fox and the Grapes, when the fox can’t reach the grapes, rather than admit defeat he states they are undesirable.
“Tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are being sacrificed needlessly because NATO wants to use Ukraine as a proxy to fight Russia.”
99% of the American public doesn’t even know where is Ukraine, much less care about it. They’re too busy trying to survive the 6.4% official inflation rate – which in reality is more like 30% for natural gas, groceries and many common items (if you can even find them anymore).
The psychopaths who rule us and are profiting from this war will keep it going until there is nothing and no one left in Ukraine, then declare victory. The rest of us will just continue to sink further into desperation.
The next “current thing” is waiting in the wings and will be rolled out on cue to much fanfare in the MSM. Ukraine – if we hear anything about it at all – will be deemed as irrelevant as Bakhmut and get the same propaganda treatment about how it was cleverly used to bleed Russia dry. There certainly won’t be any Ukrainians left in Ukraine to complain about it. The ones who fled to Europe are going to be starving along with the rest of the Europeans, who too late will realize they’ve been totally screwed – but the real screwing is still to come.
Operation Gladio – False Flag Terrorism: BBC Timewatch [1992] Full Documentary
“Operation Gladio formed part of the ‘Strategy of Tension’, which was a theory that Western governments during the Cold war used tactics that aimed to divide, manipulate, and control public opinion using fear, propaganda, disinformation, psychological warfare, agents provocateurs, and false flag terrorist actions in order to achieve their strategic aims.”

Although I agree with what you said it is worthwhile to point out the the USSR and various communist groups where in Western Europe using similar tactics. After the “War to Save Joseph Stalin” ( aka WW2) Stalin’s hand was strengthened and a prostrate Europe was ripe for the Communist revolutions. Thus, the newly incarnated CIA took to using the same tactics as the communists. It was funded by funneling heroin into the US (black neighborhoods in particular) via the “French connection”.
“After the “War to Save Joseph Stalin” ( aka WW2) Stalin’s hand was strengthened and a prostrate Europe was ripe for the Communist revolutions.”
Stalin was obviously one of history’s greatest mass murderers and ruthless dictators, but he did try to enlist the west in an alliance against Hitler before resorting to the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact. He was in fact our ally in WWII after Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. You may recall him meeting with FDR and Churchill in Yalta. He was referred to in America as “Uncle Joe” and FDR had every intention of getting along with him post-WWII. Stalin and Churchill had signed the “naughty document” outlining their agreed spheres of influence in Europe post-war.
There would have been no fantasy “communist revolutions” in a thoroughly destroyed (and already carved up by the allies) Europe filled with millions of starving and displaced people. The USSR itself lost somewhere around 27 million people in WWII. If not for their great sacrifice we’d all be goose-stepping now.
Gore Vidal points out that the USSR was pretty much finished economically post WWII, having lost so much, and that they were in no position to push revolution elsewhere. He notes that they could barely move their equipment back to Russia and had to use horses to drag their canons back.
It was the fact that FDR died and, due to pressure from the racist Democratic Party, had replaced VP Henry Wallace for his fourth term with Harry Truman, who Vidal describes as totally incompetent. It was under Truman that all of the agreements with Stalin were broken and the “Russian menace” malarkey was born. As a result, we got a permanently militarized economy, the CIA and the Cold War. That cultural transformation and its political support from Democrats was not by accident, nor did it organically move outwards from liberal college campuses as many believe. All evidence instead suggests that it was a carefully thought-out plan to counter the threat of the militant Occupy Wall Street movement, which the elite corporate world saw as a real threat — by infiltrating and co-opting the progressive label (remember how Hillary Clinton called herself a progressive?) — and then turning the progressives and liberals, through money and propaganda, into a base of support for Wall St. agendas.
“That cultural transformation and its political support from Democrats was not by accident, nor did it organically move outwards from liberal college campuses as many believe.”
The same is true with all of the “transgender” crap. This all comes from above. The point is to even erase people’s most fundamental biological identity and atomize us so that there is no possibility of a cohesive mass movement against the power structure. The “woke” BS rewrites history and “cancels” anyone who does not toe the party line. It cheers on blatant censorship. We are left with a nation that has no agreed-upon past, no common cause, and no sense of basic biological reality. They give the lobotomized sheep massive quantities of Rx drugs and “vaccines”, a bunch of gee-whiz technology that keeps them glued to their personal tracking devices, and via the internet and social media monitor their every purchase, proclivity and utterance.
There is pushback, but it is still in a nascent stage. As to whether truth can prevail and America be saved from what Aldous Huxley called a “scientific dictatorship” remains to be seen. It’s hard to be optimistic, particularly considering what we just went through with the mass formation event known as the “pandemic”. The fact that most people went along and many even went so far as to want to deny those of us who didn’t access to employment and medical care is frightening.

I agree with you. Ukraine is not important enough for Washington to sacrifice its own existence. Ukraine will be taken over by Russia and become part of it pretty soon. Washington will declare its victory and information about Ukraine will disappear from the media forever.
The main goal of the globalists is the destruction of the United States as a nation-state and a drastic decline in the standard of living. Covid, the 404 war, BLM, ANTIFA, etc. were created to implement these plans.
Americans! You can sacrifice your money to defeat a deadly disease, can’t you? And the scary and dangerous Putin? You can.
Maybe AFU military rightly thinks Bakhmut is not worth holding, but its too late for an easy retreat. On the other hand the comedian thinks Bakhmut is of strategic value still and is ordering it held and reinforced. I sense conflict at the top command. In reality what was once important is now a liability, the comedian can’t accept that, but I suspect his general has already adapted to that reality. Bakhmut itself has flip flopped, doesn’t matter that the west can’t figure that out yet and come off looking confused.
The Black Night has been the meme for the war since March. Andrei used it a day or so ago. I’ve used it several times in comments. I’m sure Larry has used it before.
Of course Monty Python used it as a comedy sketch, but every time the Ukrainian Army offers up another limb it is 50k dead and another 50k wounded, and perhaps quarter of a million loved ones suffer.
Quite evil. But what else can Russia do.
The real insight of the Black Night Sketch is Graha Chapman’s (Arthur’s / Russia’s)utter disbelief that the Black Night could be so stupid, when he is doing his absolute utmost not to cause unnecessary collateral damage.
Mind boggling.
Bakhmut strategic??? Who cares. If Ukraine wants to sacrifice 30k men in conditions where they are losing men at probably much worse than 10:1, could Russia turn down the opportunity?
Another report about anti-drone guns from Russian media https://www.vesti.ru/hitech/article/3236850
Russian anti-drone gun successfully tested in DPR
The Russian Armed Forces successfully tested the Harpy anti-drone gun near Donetsk. The UAV suppressor was tested on one of the most common drones in the NMD zone, DJI Mavic Pro, which is used by both the Russian and Ukrainian military, including as an attack drone for dropping ammunition.
Once in the area of influence of the gun, the copter stops “hearing” control signals from the UAV operator’s console. After the loss of communication, the device freezes in place or returns to the take-off site.
“Harpy” is powered by a lithium-ion battery, the charge is enough for about 60 minutes. The range of the gun is from 500 meters to 2 kilometers.
According to RIA Novosti , during the tests of the Harpy, all the main characteristics of the anti-drone complex were confirmed.
Komsomolskaya Pravda has an article about why Russia doesn’t destroy trains that carry Western equipment https://www.kp.ru/daily/27475/4730235/
Kiev uses civilians as a shield for tanks: why Russia does not destroy trains with Western equipment on the way to the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Military expert Krapivnik says Kyiv is using civilian railcars as cover for Western armored vehicles
On the air of Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, Igor Vittel and Ivan Pankin discussed with Stanislav Krapivnik , a retired lieutenant of the US tank forces who fought in Bosnia, now a popular military blogger, what threatens Russia with the supply of new Western armored vehicles to Kiev and why the Russian side does not destroy echelons with Western equipment are still on the march.
WHY DON’T THEY BEAT THE BRIDGES?
– Why don’t we bomb trains with armored vehicles after they cross the Polish-Ukrainian or Romanian-Ukrainian border?
– Attacks on electrical substations near the railways were inflicted. And on some bridges, in particular, in the Odessa region. But, the Ukrainians managed to quickly repair the railway. Although key points like stations or bridges are more difficult to repair.
– Impossible to blow them up “forever”?
Under the circumstances, it seems not. But in any case, such strikes slow down the echelons. This is how bottlenecks are created. Military equipment accumulates in one place. Which can be hit effectively. As long as the train is moving, that’s one thing. When trains stand in front of a blown up bridge or station, it’s a different story.
– But civilian cars use Kyiv as a cover, as a shield?
– This is true. And Russia is ready to blow up a train that has civilian markings, but where is the equipment being transported that will blow up Russian citizens? And what about the civilian trucks that carry armored personnel carriers? After all, no one drives those drivers or machinists who ride in such trucks or trains by force from the western borders to the Donbass? Yes, there are even cars with red crosses. By the way, the same “Bradley” is calmly loaded into a heavy truck, the truck is driven onto a railway platform, and, as it were, “a civilian train calmly moves from west to east.
– That is, civilian drivers – their lives are under threat when hitting such echelons?
– Yes, but you have to choose what is important here. Of course, precisely, civilian drivers have been bringing a lot of Western military equipment to the front in recent months.
WHAT THE STATES FEAR
– What are the shortcomings of the American and European armored vehicles promised to Kyiv, and what is the current state of such equipment in Western armies?
– Well, with the “leopards” Western tank manufacturers went along the path of the Third Reich. Under Hitler, armored vehicles were constantly improved, funds were invested in development, and the characteristics improved from year to year. Then the “Tiger-2” weighed about 70 tons – about the same now weighs “Abrams”. But that German tank had a weak engine by today’s standards, did not move fast, and in 1944 became a defense tank, not an offensive one. Now German and American self-propelled guns and tanks are getting bigger and bigger, and faster and more maneuverable.
But aren’t they too heavy?
– “Abrams” fully loaded with full tanks weighs 70 tons. Leopard – 65 – 67 tons. There are a limited number of bridges in Ukraine that can pass and withstand such tanks. Both wagons and trucks have restrictions on the dimensions and load capacity of the bridge. There are few such bridges. You can count them all and hit them.
– That is, we understand which bridges can become targets?
– Should be known. The routes along which such heavy armored vehicles will go are also known.
– We hit two or three bridges at the beginning of the NWO, and then stopped – why?
– The blows were delivered in Bessarabia, in the southwestern part of the Odessa region. There, on the border with Romania, a lot of equipment and mercenaries passed. And now, while they are preparing equipment and fighters in one place, this place must be hit.
– “Abrams” have not yet been delivered to Kyiv, neither old nor new models – why?
– The Americans are in no hurry to supply them. Would like to, would have put a long time ago. This may be anti-advertising – everyone will hunt for them, try to knock them out, their shortcomings will come to light. Abrams M1 has been produced since 1980. The model that entered Iraq many years ago had a 105 mm cannon, they want to change it to a 120 mm cannon. Such “abrams” M1 are in warehouses, they were removed from service. On the new “abrams” M1A2, composite armor is narrower, a 120-mm cannon, an excellent navigation system, superelectronics.
– Are the Americans definitely not going to supply them?
– Of course not. And M1 – rather, yes. Probably, when the old German “Leopards” in the Donbass burn, this is a great advertisement for the sale of new American “Abrams” in the world. The British also talk a lot about the supply of their “Challengers” with such advertising that not a single “Challenger” was blown up in battles. True, one was burned – but they accidentally hit it themselves. But the question is: in what battles did they participate? And they hit the T-55 in Iraq. It’s like a young bully hitting a 70 year old woman.
– All these tanks – will they appear in the spring in Ukraine?
– Yes. The question is in what direction. At the same time, they will not fundamentally change the situation on the front line. May create a threat in some sector. Kyiv in 2023, like Berlin in 1944 – they hold on to the hope of a new superweapon, the wunderwaffe…
Komsomolskaya Pravda has an article about why Russia doesn’t destroy trains that carry military equipment
Never stopped NATO in ’99, even if they suspected it just might carry military equipment disguised as civilians.
Yes Larry, the tragedy is the loss of life and endless pain of those who will mourn. One asks for what? Just so some inhumane monster in London or Washington DC can claim they are weakening Russia. I regret to say the western leadership has become what they claim to be against.
Great way to end the article. This is what the vile and evil neocons have wrought. And the whole nasty package is wrapped in a blanket of freedom and Democracy. Disgusting.
Gilbert Doctorow just posted this:

He talks of the photo making Russian media rounds of the major ordnance gathered at the port of Gdansk on their way to Ukraine. I had also read that that’s an older photo waiting for shipment back to the US from a NATO exercise. I can see why the Russian media would talk it up but which is accurate, anybody know?

The “empire of lies” is true to form.
To know and not to know, to be conscience of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which canceled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to us logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Republican and Democratic parties were the guardians of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory at the moment when it was needed and then promptly to forget it again, and above all apply the same process to the process itself-that was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then , once again, become unconscious of the hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word “doublethink” (cognitive dissonance) involved the use of doublethink.

Russia should broadcast these comments into Bakhmut – let the trapped Ukie soldiers see how pointless it all is !
They are written off – pointless deaths – no value in the fighting that has gone on.
Photographs of Ukie cemeteries and a big banner – “Of No Strategic Value – Die in Vain”
More hilarity:
NATO estimates Russia lost 5 times more soldiers in Bakhmut than Ukraine” (Cotovio):
“NATO intelligence estimates that for every Ukrainian soldier killed defending Bakhmut, Russian forces have lost at least five, a military official with the North Atlantic alliance told CNN on Monday.
The official cautioned the five to one ratio was an informed estimate based on intelligence.
The official spoke to CNN on the condition they remain anonymous because they are not allowed to discuss this intelligence. Despite the favorable ratio, they also said Ukraine was suffering significant losses defending the city.”
I suspect the UAF will be partying hard tonight in Bakhmut after their glorious victory.! Not
Just the stale old ‘whatever happens to us, we’ll bounce it off onto you’ m.o.
Speaking of back flips, I just read an article on Gateway Pundit discussing coverage of Jan. 6. News media that have forever fought to reveal news stories, now fight furiously to conceal truth, apparently feeling that they are losing their power and relevance. Oh Ukraine, oh NATO, oh US hegemony.
Monty Python’s “Holy Grail”…probably the best movie ever–just saying 🙂
I suppose when Russian forces capture Kyiv that will be of no importance as well–that day is coming, NATOstan has given Putin no option other than completely removing the Zelensky puppet government. The Ukraine as we know it today will cease to exist.
As a prior military officer it saddens me…wake up Ukraine–you are being used as cannon fodder for the US and EU…wake up or more of your sons and daughters are destined to sleep forever in their soldier graves.
We are facing a very serious situation here. When Ukraine inevitably falls in from of the Russian juggernaut the entire credibility of the Biden Administration is at stake here.
Not to mention all the fake news that have been chanting that the Russians will collapse any moment.
Does the Administration take the loss or do they do something stupid? With the neocons basically in charge, I bet on stupid unless we the people stand up this will likely be another neocon disaster the US cannot possibly win.
Alex…agree…I am betting the neocons double and triple down their support for the UKR…in short escalation in the foreseeable future. Lots of rumblings about a UAF Spring offensive which plays into Russia’s military strategy IMO.
When I look at Bakhmut, I think of Verdun. Not the actual battle, but the battle the German High Command intended. The original plan was to surround a French salient in an area that the French, for reasons of national honor, would defend at all costs .. and draw French into the area by the hundreds of thousand and destroy them with artillery. In other words, they would bleed France white
The plan came acropper when Germans actually captured important forts in an attack that was meant to be a feint, and changed their plan.
As anticipated, the French threw everything but the kitchen sink at Verdun, but the Germans no longer had the salient. In the end, the casualty ratio was about even, as opposed to 4 to 1 or so in favor of Germany
Looks to me like Russians stuck to the Verdun plan throughout, with terrible losses for Ukraine. At least thats my analysis
Yes but the British opened a front on The Somme on 1 July 1916 with 2,500,000 men to relieve pressure on French at Verdun – it cost 420,000 casualties – it halted the German offensive at Verdun however……
First day of 141 day battle British suffered 20,000 KIA – largest loss of life on one day in British history
I do not see Bakhmut as being like Verdun – it is completely different. Joffre had seen Liege and Namur forts subjected to German heavy artillery and therefore knew the forts at Douamont and Fleury were indefensible so stripped them of guns and munitions and had Sappers prepare to blow them……….
It was very different even if the superficial similarities are there – Ukraine has no ally with another Army along the front – if Poland sent 2,000,000 men to fight it might be similar

However as a recent observation of the People’s Republic of China outlined – the market for anti-depressants is extensive in “The United States of America” – the network of social relations one, not the myth “The United States of America” – so potential “help” is not freely, but relatively expensively, available.
Another example of “Tourists in war zones don’t tend to enjoy continued well-being, or well, being.”

Only advanced NATO Artificial Intelligence, operating the Romulan Cloaking Device, hiding the Ukrainian army via ChatBot clutter, can explain the slow capture of Bakhmut. While Prigozhin Kirk pretends insanity, does not Putin Spock seduce Romulan Zelensky with distraction? The withdrawl from the Kherson! Do not the videos on Bone’s Telegram Channel merely confirm Prigozhin Kirk’s pretend insanity so that NATO underestimates Russia’s military? And who am I, but Scotty throwing the switch? Indeed, the entire Ukraine War is a distraction, NATO’s Romulan Cloaking Device is the real prize! Star Trek predicts the entire Ukraine War, particularly the episode sampled in this clip, to those with the correct cereal box decoder ring!

Before Androids were able to emulate gibberish, Prigozhin Kirk and Putin Spock used similar tactics against NATO Androids in this clip:

Not quite so, whilst believed to be so by some.
Try “secrets” are a function of time, not absolutes, whilst some attempt to make functions of time absolutes as an alternative encouragement of “certainty”.

As Mr. Stalin relayed to Mr. Kaganovich according to Mr. Kaganovich and Mr. Molotov in “internal exile” after Mr. Stalin becoming unavailable :
The Bolsheviks learned to talk; and I learned to listen, and when they realised I was listening they talked more, and I kept listening” to which Mr. Kaganovich added “even although I never properly learned to intepret.”
Some are of the view that Mr. Kaganovich’s rendering was more representative than Mr. Rove’s contention that:
“We are an Empire,
We create our own reality,
To which others respond.”
“Artificial Intelligence” is artificial because it doesn’t exist in addition to other hoped for “magic bullets”, except as an artifice of some.
Relating military secrets…rumor has it that finally it would be Ursula Von der Leyen who will get the seat at NATO after Stoltenberg leave to the IMF….( God catch us confessed….you thought could not be uber chaos?)
It seems that Boris Johnson, and his ambitious wife, wanted that seat too, but will have to be sent to another location…now that conversations through WhatsApp on “when we must release the next variant” and the like are making the rounds through the UK and Europe…
One wonders whether, due the implications of Von der Leyen in the Covid scam and genocide, plus her unvaluable role in deviating public funds to finance the war, they are thinking of sending her to NATO to avoid her being reached either by the people of Europe, orJustice, if it anytime dares to comes back in Europe…Or, whether, since the most probable result of the defeat in Ukraine plus the total ruin of Europe will be the dissapearance of NATO, they are nominating Pustula as head of a dissapearing organism so that to get rid og her and her galactic championship size of incompetence and corruption….
In the meantime, it is possible that Brussels and Europe becomes the House of the Flying Daggers as they all fight for the best remunerated pesebres….
“Antonio” also wanted the NATO post…It is because of that that he sold his population to the Big Pharma as guinea pigs, ruined economies and lives, gifted West Sahara to Morocco and through that earned the enmity of Algeria, Spain´s main natural gas provider at reasonable price….Instead Spain got a pipeline closed and the US as second mayor gas provider at cuadruple the Algerian price…rounding the circle on the monopoly of European energy supply and thus impossing its dependence…..
It seems that they are thinking of extending labor life to 72 years and forbidding private cars, freedom of movement and meat so that to save money with which to pay the US for vaccines, weapons, LNG; financing Ukraine´s cabinet and administration, and so on….

Daggers and baloons is not the only thing that will fly…..I fear….

I’ve been listening to your posts for a few months, and I have two questions.
1. Is English a second language for you? If so, are you using a computer translation program? Sometimes you make perfect sense, while other times it seems that perhaps something is “lost in the translation”. One good thing about Larry’s blog (among many) is that it has an international flavor.
2. Did you previously post here, several months ago, using the name “IsItJustForTheMomentWeLive”? The two writing styles, and the content, seem similar to me.

Strategic Culture is currently banned in Europe…
Intents on hijacking the Judicial are widespread in Europe and machinations on legislations like the infamous “Treaty of Pandemics” inspired by the WHO, which subverts any exsiting European Constitutional rights and powers, are directed at ending representative democracy as we know it and perpetuating current cabinets, who so weel served their masters in Davos, in power for the foreseable future….
The way Macron shitted on the people of France, the way the Spabish Health Minister laughed trough her teeth, the way Trudeau abused and robbed the Canadian people, the way the neozelanders and aussies were closed into concentration camps, followed by the unconditrional support for hard core nazis in charge in Ukraine was tellling to whomever apying attention and not obnubilated by propaganda and fear that there will not be more elections, and that those most corruptible and unscrupulous will be rised to direct the coming fascist dictatorship…the worst in history….since there are no rules, no morals, no constraints anymore….
Savages have taken over…..
There is an infamous series of sayings in Eve Online, a simulation of economic political warfare.
First the alliance will say, “X system is vitally important to our common security” and then when they lose said X system they will say “we never wanted that system to begin with”.
I suppose all those dead bodies piled up in the trenches, doubled layered in Bakhmut is all symbolic?
Then I would agree it certainly symbolizes a defeat militarily.
When any civilization such as our Western gets overtaken by the morally bankrupt how can we expect a good outcome.
Is it at all possible that things can be turned around without further global escalation?
From this point forward all I currently see is more of the same kinda conflict until the Western world can no longer be tolerated.
Meanwhile…
The New York Times is reporting that it was a rogue group of Ukrainians with no connection to the US or Ukraine that actually blew up the Nordstream pipelines. As reported by US intelligence [sic].
In related news….Lindsay Graham wants to invade Mexico. Well, not Lindsay himself of course. He is way too important, but our kids and grandkids.
This is like a child lying. Dog ate my homework, or something.
I’m actually surprised it took them this long. All the precedents suggest that they should have been out with at least a skeletal official narrative within hours of the event.
The question is whether this was an error, or intentional.
I have a nagging suspicion that some part of the US’ strategic brain trust wants its allies and the rest of the world to know that their impunity is absolute and that they have the power to destroy ally and adversary alike.
Ah, they say it’s only suspected but with the very best intelligence. 😉
A group of rogue Russian submariner tailors, upset at Putin for not spending enough on his wardrobe and defecting to Zelensky’s wife instead.
Possibly a secret organization called THRUSH, possibly SPECTRE, but narrowing it down to KAOS. Sigfried himself planned it.

The Bakhmut fight is not over. In these kinds of encirclement fights, the attacker must face the enemy inside the encirclement and outside. In my book, The Regular Russian Army has not shown itself to be consistently on top of it’s game.
The Wagner people seem to be carrying most of the fight and they are complaining about Russian Army neglect of their flanks while the Ukrainians appear to be gathering forces for a counter attack on either side of one of the pincers or at the base of one or both.
Perhaps this is just noise and self promotion on Wagners part. How can we really know. But if I were Ukraine, risk adverse, indifferent to the lives of my men, I would see Bakhmut as an interesting opportunity.
We can guess the Russian Army really hates Wagner because they are competitors who seem to know their business better than the Russian Army does. The Russian Army might like nothing better than to see the Wagner organization badly mauled.
Yes, it sounds crazy, but the History of the Russian army is full of this kind of infighting.
Could happen. But they would take massive losses, as they have with their other”successes”.
Translating into long term failure.
Either way, Russia wins.
Imagine what Russia’s performance on the battle field would have looked like without Wagner. No victories since they took Severodonetsk/Lisichansk, only retreat.
I specify “looked like” because the Russian Army aren’t sitting on their butts of course. There is heavy fighting going on in the north. But still, apart from Wagner Russia hasn’t impressed yet. I expect an overwhelming performance by RA in the spring though.
“We can assume that the Russian army really hates Wagner because they are competitors…”
That’s not to be assumed.
Prigogine has been behaving strangely lately, making provocative public statements.
As it turned out, there were no problems with the shells. Then what was it?
Oddities in the behavior of public figures are perhaps a reason to think about who and why needed hysteria (manipulation), but is not a reason for absurd assumptions and stupid conclusions. It is better to remain silent.
The scale of Prigozhin’s personality is, in fact, so small that it can only compete with other bloggers in the narrative, but in no way can it compete with the Ministry of Defense.
Prigozhin is just a recruit of fighters, he does not manage the operational situation, is not a commander, and has an indirect relationship to the front as such.
The Wagner PMC itself can be partly compared with penal battalions during the Great Patriotic War. But, after all, it never occurs to anyone to assert that only penal formations defeated Hitler’s troops, and the Red Army stood on the sidelines. It is even more absurd to assume that the Red Army competed with the penal battalions and hated them out of a spirit of rivalry.
Without the Russian army, Wagner is nothing, zero.
“Yes, it sounds crazy, but the History of the Russian army is full of this kind of infighting”.
Where can I read the history of internecine strife?
Vlad is less of a toaster, and more of a slow cooker.
The brutality of Zelensky is off the charts. Maybe insanity is a better word for sacrificing well over 12, 000 soldiers in Bakhmut for a media or PR benefit. The Russians will annihilate Bakhmut with artillery and bombs from the air. If Ukraine attempts a rescue, the death toll will be even higher. It may not raise an eyebrow in the US and its government media.
This morning, on Deutschlandfunk (German news radio), a military historian at the University of Potsdam, Sönke Neitzel, acknowledged that the idea, promulgated in Western media, that Bachmut was an unimportant town, was not exactly true. That there are few defense lines once the Russians breached Bachmut. What was the more remarkable Neitzel is a Munich Security Conference staunch Atlanticist – he also admitted that the British Intelligence Services would never confess about anything detrimental about the Ukrainian army.
Ukraine will likely need to launch a fairly major counteroffensive to relieve the city if Zelensky is serious about holding it. But that presents a problem of limited resources for the grand spring offensive in the south that everyone refuses to shut up about (because the best way to plan a military operation is talk about it for months beforehand).
Maybe Kiev has a trick up its sleeve but if not it appears to be making every possible mistake that’s likely to lead to a cascading collapse. And at the same time playing directly into Russia’s hand, which appears to be pressure and active defense.
@Larry
The whole media propagand outlets including the Kiev Independent suddenly posted news about the horrific scale of Ukrop casualties and gleam of disaster in continuing ukraine wars against russia.
might this be a preparation to focus on war with CHINA ? Recently Chinese Govt openly said publicly ( Xi himself ) in extent potraying the west (US and vassals) as openly confrontational. The chinese wont say this openly unless they exhausted all other peaceful / diplomatic way.
do you remember Afghanistan retreat ? WHen that happens it is obvious that something is afoot and then we got Ukraine war. Now the Ukraine war failed to dent russia and it is overtaken by events in asia.ho
this insane double down , who is incharge of US ? they still think US can win a war with BOTH russia and china ?

alas ukraine failed and yet they still go ahead to make war with china.

The Deagel corporation is a minor branch of US military intelligence, one of the many secretive organizations which collects data for high-level decision-making purposes and prepares confidential briefing documents for agencies like the National Security Agency, the United Nations, and the World Bank.
It’s a work of “love” from some retired intelligence assets, and like most of us ex-spooks, it’s hosted outside of the United States. Just like MM here. We have VERY good reasons to do so. Reasons that are far too complex to get involved in right this moment. But we DO KNOW what we are doing. Never doubt that.
