I am so appreciative of the expressions of care and concern from this virtual community about my mother’s death. It means a lot. Not just because of the comfort your words provide in dealing with the loss but because it is a reminder that national and ethnic differences take a back seat when the question of humanity is at stake. Gives me hope that a truly global community can come together committed to protecting the rights of individuals to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. While the big media tech companies desperately try to control what happens in this electronic world, they cannot quash it.
Current world events give any sane person multiple reasons to be depressed–e.g., the real threat of nuclear war, looming famine, soaring inflation, widespread government corruption and a media dedicated to prevarication. But hearing from people in New Zealand, Nigeria, France, United Kingdom and Russia, just to mention a few on this blog, brings true joy. The commentary reflects profound humanity and intelligence. I thank you for taking the time to comment here.
Glad you are getting support from readers around the globe. You are fortunate that you got to spend so much time with your mother and she got to see you go through so many phases of life.
My parents died in middle age when I was in my twenties. One of the things I now feel I missed out on is getting to relate to them as I got older and had a child.
Oh well, we have to be thankful for what we have had and had.
Thank you for providing a ray of light in this upside-down world.
Condolences for your mother passing.
God bless you and your Mom.
Dear mr. Johnson,
I found your page and I am very impressed by the openness and infomative charakter of it.
I want to thank your for the time and effort you are putting into it.
And I want to send you my condolences for the passing of your beloved mother. For me it is relieving to know, that you are aware of the good life your mother lived. And I am sure you are fond of the memories of your life with her and your family.
I feel with you, because I am caring for my grandmother, a proud 94 year old woman, so that she can live her days the way she wants, not to be forced to live in a care home. So far so good, but I dare the day she will leave our world. It will be very tough for me.
So thank you for sharing.
I wish you health and a long live.
She also comes from German ancestors. Who knows, you could be a cousin. Mom’s third great grandfather was JOHAN CONRAD BEYMER BOHMER B:17 May 1740 Baumholder, Birkenfeld, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany
