Western societies are in a race to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Greenies claim technology currently exists to reach net zero, is affordable, and is not an economy wrecker. The elites want a first-generation green power grid relying on renewable wind turbines, solar panels, and power storage batteries to entirely phase out fossil fuel or nuclear power plants. Also, replacing the internal combustion engine with electric motors powered by lithium batteries. The problem with renewable energy is it is intermittent and not scalable.
Wind turbines and solar panels have a short life cycle of twenty years or so. They can’t be retrofitted like fossil fuel or nuclear power plants, which can be extended up to fifty years. Electric vehicles must be scrapped too. The term “replaceable” would be better suited than “renewables.” Once their short economic lives are exhausted, renewable energy and EVs must be disposed of into massive toxic dumps.

I have horrible news for the greenies; net-zero carbon isn’t achievable. All because Greenies failed to research whether or not there are sufficient base and rare earth metals and adequate time to mine and build out the technologies to accomplish the net-zero carbon 2050 target date.
A recent study by the Geological Survey of Finland found that implementation would take centuries at the current extraction rates, and there need to be more proven reserves of base metals and rare earth.
The study found the current estimated metal reserves are woefully deficient in almost every category. The table below has categories where deficits are yellow highlighted. So are the Greenies counting on mining the moon and asteroids to make up the scarcities?
Estimated Metal Reserves 2022

Below is the study’s table estimating the years to produce the required metals. For example, lithium would take almost ten millenniums to achieve. In addition, these scarce minerals must be mined, transported, and processed, relying exclusively on hydrocarbons, which would create more carbon emissions.
Estimated Annual Metal Production Rates

The above tables are from the “Assessment of Extra Capacity Required of Alternative Energy Electrical Power System to Completely Replace Fossil Fuels” study by Associate Professor Simon P. Michaux of Geometallurgy. The Powerpoint summary can be downloaded from the link below:
The hard cold facts and math don’t support the Greenies’ rhetoric. Eliminating fossil fuels at an accelerating rate without replacing the equivalent of alternative energy would quickly collapse modern society. Energy is the economy. The net-zero movement is ‘sound and fury, signifying nothing’ but misery.
Could the NATO proxy war with Russia have an ulterior motive to collapse Russia to grab its vast natural resources to fulfill the Greenies’ net-zero fantasies?
Bob Bishop is a retired CPA and a forensic investigator. He has written for the American Thinker, Gateway Pundit, Sonar21, and CorsiNation.
Strange how these Greenies support a war that has released thousands of tonnes of emissions, ravaged forests, killed wildlife, risked nuclear contamination, polluted the sea and who now actively lobby for DU projectiles to be used. It’s almost as if a fringe movement has been hijacked to become an enabler for the techno-feudal future being planned by the ‘Barons’, for the ‘peasants’.
It is a death cult.
It’s a period cult.
Replying to your very good article, Bob, every knows the greenies have a plan involving unicorn farts and pixie dust. So not to worry, it will all work out.
Did anybody hear a word from the Greenies about the huge amount of methane gas from exploded Nordstream 1 & 2 into the ocean? Where are the reports about dead fish and marine animals? Where is the indignation? Where are the protests? Crickets…
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/sep/28/nord-stream-methane-gas-leaks-may-be-biggest-ever-with-war
I just made the same point. But hey, its an utterly damning one, so why not make it twice
Working link.
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/sep/28/nord-stream-methane-gas-leaks-may-be-biggest-ever-with-warning-large-climate-risk
Even stranger is how Inner Party Greenie, Greta Thornberg had nothing to say when “some people did something” to a gas pipeline, which loosed millions of BTUs* of methane into the atmosphere in her own backyard. Yet she said nothing .. not even a “How Dare You”
Now this is a hypocrisy that you could throw at the next foam at the mouth greenie you encounter .. if only to see what mega lunacy they expel next from their linguistic piehole

If you look at the history of Green Movement in Germany say 1900s – it is a continuum to the NSDAP – and indeed just as Greens blended into the NSDAP post WW2 there were Greens migrating into Neo-Nazi NDP
The revival with Petra Kelly who was a founder of The Green Party in 1980 and Gert Bastian was in opposition to Helmut Schmidt’s policy to deploy Pershing II rockets……..she had previously been a member of SPD. She was also brought up in USA.
The Green Party is one thing – but the Green Movement existed as an offshoot of German Romantic Movement in 1900s………
It is hardly surprising it was easy to program as anti-Russian
Russia is the MAJOR repository of Fossil Fuels on the planet

This is actually the plan started by David Rockefeller to depopulate the planet using Planned Parenthood, the jabs, various harmful ingredients in the food supply and drinks, pushing the LBGTQ agenda, grooming children, destroying living standards, destroying farms and all out war. This was followed by the Melinda and Gates Foundation, Justin Trudeau’s dad, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, supported population “cleansing.” The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation provided the initial foundation for the practice by highlighting the scientific achievement of genome sequencing and combining it with the potential for “reducing the burden of disease on themselves and on society as a whole.” Then by Soros and Schwab with the WEF. Take Ginsberg.
The defense of Roe v Wade is actually hypocritical for the Democrats. The main support comes from Gates and Rockefeller Foundations and it is covertly supported by the United Nations. This is all about the Planned Parenthood agenda to provide abortions to minorities to reduce their population. Now you may think I am being a conspiracy theorist. However, back in 2009, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg bluntly told the truth, when she was for equal rights for women.
“Frankly, I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.” She spoke bluntly in an interview published in the New York Times Magazine which was an article on women on the court. So it was not simply a woman’s rights agenda. That was the cover story to hide the real agenda which has always existed – eugenics and to reduce the population of the minorities.
Now we are in the final push.
The Two Paths to Build Back Better
“If there was ever a time when the West is crumbling from within, and the end gold is to Build Back Better creating a new world order from the ashes, there have been two schools of thought. First, there have been those who believed that creating another Great Depression would achieve that objective just as Roosevelt ended free-market capitalism. The second is that to also reduce the population, we need a war to achieve all the goals and Build Back Better as they did following World War II”
Anything less than those two types of events will not achieve their goal.
The origins to the Davos/Reset end to this framework were always ‘shifty’. The concept’s originator was never Team Schwab, but David Rockefeller, Chair of Chase Manhattan Bank, and his protégé (and later Klaus Schwab’s ‘indispensable adviser’), Maurice Strong.
William Engdahl has written how “circles directly tied to David Rockefeller in the 1970s launched a dazzling array of élite organizations and think tanks. These included the neo-Malthusian Club of Rome; the MIT-authored study, ‘Limits to Growth’; and the Trilateral Commission”:
“In 1971 the Club of Rome published a deeply flawed report, Limits to Growth, which predicted an end to civilization, owing to population growth combined with depleting resources. That was 1971. In 1973, Klaus Schwab at his third annual Davos, presented Limits to Growth as his [vision for the future], to the assembled corporate CEOs. In 1974, the Club of Rome’s Turning Point, subsequently argued that ‘Interdependence must translate as a decrease in independence’: Now is the time to draw up a master plan [for] a new global economic system.
It was Maurice Strong, Rockefeller’s protégé, as Chair of the 1972 Earth Day UN Stockholm Conference, [who] promoted an economic strategy of population reduction and lowering of living standards around the world to ‘save the environment’. As Secretary General of the UN Rio Conference, Strong commissioned the report from the Club of Rome which admitted that the CO2 global warming claim was merely an invented ruse to force change: The real enemy is humanity itself – whose behaviour was to be changed. President Clinton’s delegate to Rio, Tim Wirth, admitted the same, stating, “We have got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the ‘right thing’ in terms of economic policy”.
The point here is that the Rockefeller-Davos prescription was always a scam for blowing a new financial bubble to keep the dollar hegemony project afloat. The world however, is moving on from the Davos unitary world governance prescription, to de-centralisation and multi polarity – in pursuit of the renaissance of autonomy, historic values and sovereignty. At the WEF this year, it was obvious: Davos is passé.
The more important effect however, often missed, is the import of ‘the Agenda fail’ on the financial war: The Davos ‘new economic system’ envisaged a tidal wave of spending on renewable tech; on subsidies (like CO2 credits) and on liquifying the transition. It was about incubating a new bubble, based on zero-cost new money (known as MMT).
This is why corporates such as Blackrock and the oligarchs are so excited by Davos. The arrival of high interest rates however, effectively kills the new ‘bubble option’ – precisely at a moment when the western world stands at the cusp of a severe economic contraction.
‘Serendipitously’ – at this moment of Davos decay – a raucous, distracting noise started up: Abrahams M1s and Leopards for Ukraine. German FM, Baerbock declares Germany and the EU family are “at war with Russia”. The noise, as usual, succeeds in obscuring any wider picture.
Yes, point one, we do have mission creep: We won’t send offensive weapons, but then they did. We won’t send long-range weapons M777), but then they did. We won’t send multiple missile launch systems (HIMARS), but then they did. We won’t send tanks, but now they are. No NATO boots on the ground, but they have been there since 2014. Alastair Crooke
The whole thing is one giant scam and it is amazing how many people pined up the jabs like sheep along with the climate change scam. and now lining up for war just as those weapons of mass destruction and weather balloons. Common Core has been one giant success.
“In the future it will be about finding a way to reduce the population. We will start with the old, because as soon as he is over 60-65 years of age, man lives longer than he produces and costs society dearly. Then the weak and then the useless who do nothing for society because there will be more and more of them, and especially finally the stupid ones.”
“Euthanasia targeting these groups; euthanasia will have to be an essential instrument of our future societies, in all cases. Of course, we cannot execute people or set up camps. We will get rid of it by making them believe it is for their own good. Too large a population, and for the most part unnecessary, is something economically too expensive.”
“Socially, it is also much better for the human machine to come to a screeching halt rather than gradually deteriorating. We won’t be able to give intelligence tests to millions and millions of people, you can imagine!”
“We will find something or cause it, a pandemic that targets certain people, a real economic crisis or not, a virus that will affect the old or the big, it doesn’t matter, the weak will succumb to it, the fearful and the stupid will believe it and ask to be treated.”
“We will have taken care to have planned the treatment, a treatment that will be the solution. The selection of idiots will thus be done by themselves: they will go to the slaughterhouse on their own.“
In less than one year, they have proven that the vast majority will obey blindly. Stanley Milgram’s experiments have shown that people will even torture others if told to do so. Human nature will never change insofar as we all have personal feelings — we can love or hate. That said, we are also influenced by mob behavior. The experiments of Stanley Milgram definitively show that people would torture another if ordered to do so. He called his discovery, Obedience to Authority. His experiment using an actor to pretend he was being tortured was revealing
In Britain, Graham Brady, Chairman of the Tory 1922 Committee and member of Parliament, has written an op-ed for the Daily Mail where he made it very clear that the purpose of the lockdowns is to impose social control — not to reduce COVID. He has pointed out that this is approaching what is known as STOCKHOLM SYNDROME where the greater the control to which people are subjected, the greater the dependence people develop.
Field Marshall Hermann Wilhelm Göring (1893–1946) when put on trial at Nurenberg said the truth:
“Why, of course, the people don’t want war. Naturally, the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood.
But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship.
With respect to a Democracy they argued, the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States, only Congress can declare wars.
Göring replied: “Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”
It has all been laid out for decades so buckle up! War is left!
Thoroughly enthralling….
Wow! Who’s your publisher?
I think the point is to collapse society. If you read Rousseau and Marx and Malthus it’s more obvious, the end goal of their ideas (if you follow where they actually lead and not their delusional fantasy or shallow propaganda) is a return to preindustrial society and a collapse of Western Civ and also murder billions in the process.
Hey so off topic but I have really enjoyed learning the truth about the Ukraine war here. Everything I have read here has been eye opening and resonates as truth or a much more genuine approach to it than the organs of propaganda that pass as “news media” in our society. I was wondering if anyone could tell me why we invaded Iraq and Afghanistan? When it happened I was too young to know or care much but I stupidly supported it. All I know now is deposing Saddam was stupid, created a power vacuum and left Iran as the only big dog in the Middle East. With finding how Ukraine is a money laundering op makes me wonder if the same happened in Afghanistan? Because they sure didn’t put up much of a fight when we left so where did all the money and training go?
Opinions and sources are welcome!
The “elite” have determined that half a billion serfs is sufficient for their needs; the other 7.5 billion are not only surplus to requirements, but they’re also dirtying up the elites’ planet and using up all their resources. So, how to get rid of the excess…
It does seem a very high risk strategy though – a collapse of society back to a Dickensian or even mediaeval existence for most seems to carry a high risk of the same elites being butchered – quite possibly by their own bodyguards.
The new religion with it’s rabid followers… compelled by fear… embarking on a global crusade to convert the unbelievers. It is a cult and it is not backed by any credible science. In Canada our massive Boreal forests sequester many times our carbon dioxide emissions and yet the State rams tax.. surcharges… levies down the populations throats while legislating gross overreach into citizens lives in name of collective global security. While Chinese and Indian industry have no caps on emissions we are getting our fertilizer and by default…our ability to produce food… curtailed. Soon livestock will be banned like in the Netherlands over methane emissions. Fear has become a virtue with these green disciples…and the more fearful they become the more virtuous they feel… George Soros and notable others funds many of these environmentalist climate change movements here….they actually manipulate social forces to create favourable conditions for their investments. Find out who is buying up the coal mines…oil companies and farmland right now and see where the Future really lies.
I forget to mention that the only real factor that can alter earths weather on any significant way is the Sun….we have recently entered into a period of greatly diminished solar activity… The Grand Solar Minimum which will drop global temperatures….a mini ice age where the last GSM caused the Thames to freeze over….and to cause famine in China
Another possible factor is cyclical changes in the Earth’s core. https://theethicalskeptic.com/2020/02/16/the-climate-change-alternative-we-ignore-to-our-peril/
The slope of the CO2 graph increased during the COVID shutdowns despite the large reduction in human caused emissions. This strongly indicates that humans are not the major cause of the ongoing increase in atmospheric CO2.
Despite the reduced solar input and lower temperatures over large landmasses it appears that the oceans are warming from below and a little ice age is not in the cards. Warming oceans release CO2 in the same way that warming a beer or soda does, and since this world is about two thirds ocean this release dwarfs the human input.
This ocean warming and its acceleration seems to be directly correlated to the movement of the magnetic poles and both are tied to the activity of the sun starting with the Carrington event in 1859. To speculate, I doubt that even removing humans from the planet entirely would slow it down.
Leaving aside that “Science” dislikes those who stray from one field, I doubt anyone could acquire the necessary interdisciplinary science degrees to definitively prove where this process is going. However some might find the writings of Paul LaViolette and Robert Schoch provide some indications.
Well for the second Iraq war Saddam didn’t want to sell oil in dollars anymore. When he invaded Kuwait he first checked it was okay with US Ambassador and he said fine but it was just a trap
Afghanistan not so sure of the exact reason but plenty of resources there and probably as a launch pad to send waves of jihadists to southern Russia and China to destablize. Just before the US arrived the Taliban had almost wiped out opium production but it surged after the US takeover. This gave them control over the drug trade and the vast sums of money could then be used for black budget and covert actions.
In the case of Libya which had highest standard of living in Africa, Gadaffi was planning to setup a gold dinar as part of a gold standard for Africa. So he had to go.
It is safe to assume every single war is based on lies and is simply by empire and or for benefits of corporations.
I am quite clear about the US motives to invade Afghanistan as my thesis was based on that country. Afghanistan as a country is well positioned in the eyes of US war mongers, to act as a base to disrupt Russia’s close allies to its East, China, Pakistan and Iran. Yes, like Terence said, after US chased out the Taliban and started the occupation, the total area cultivating opium grew more than a hundred-fold, with US soldiers guarding the fields and the CIA selling the products. (You will be able to search for videos and articles). The money was used to finance terrorists and dissenters in all the above neighbouring countries, that was why there were so many terrorist attacks in those years. Prior to my research I too thought USA is the good guy but I noticed everywhere somehow some things don’t really fit although I couldn’t put my finger on it. My research which requires me to source multiple sources for everything opened my eyes to the truth. Now not only everything fits, I know so much more that it is painful because I alone cannot change things for the better.
I remember the day I realized that all I had been taught was a lie – gut wrenching. Only took 24 to recover though and the new lens is much clearer.
Practice five ninety-five…
Very interesting Cynic thank you! I would love to hear more! Do you have any more info and someplace you have talked about this?
justwaiting: I am well aware of the fact that we are evil. The whole trans thing for kids is despicable and so is pushing this Ukraine war. I am just wanting to learn the specifics of how evil we are haha
“Eliminating fossil fuels at an accelerating rate without replacing the equivalent of alternative energy would quickly collapse modern society. ”
And there’s the real motive. To collapse society so that people in their extreme desperation will panic and give these people the authority they want to rebuild society in their own image.
We invaded Afghanistan because war is the health of the state. The Taliban were willing to turn OBL over provided that we showed some proof of his actions but that was unacceptable to the Neocons because this was their ticket to finally getting Saddam. Scott Horton of antiwar.com has chronicled the Afghanistan stuff in his books and on the Scott Horton Show podcast
We invaded Iraq because…. Well, the Neocons we’re making plans to go after Iraq starting on Sept. 11, 2001. And of course Saddam started talking about setting up an oil market wherein barrels of oil would be denominated in Euros, not petrodollars. Quite sinful behavior.
Gaddafi committed a similar sin when he started talking about selling oil denominated in a pan-African currency called the Dinar that would be backed by gold.
https://thenewamerican.com/gadhafi-s-gold-money-plan-would-have-devastated-dollar/
Here is the thing. Our biggest export, besides the billion dump truck loads of topsoil that we let wash away each year into rivers and streams and then into the gulf of Mexico, is dollars. We can export inflation because countries around the world need dollars to conduct trade, especially in oil. As countries now stop using the dollar and trade in local currencies, those dollars will return home like chickens to roost here. Countries will exchange their remaining dollars for real things and leave all those dollars here.
What do you think that does to price levels? Purchasing power will continue to decline. The bread and circuses will lose their effect. Desperate people do desperate things. There are 300+ million of us. The powers that be are outnumbered. They are scared of us awakening and joining together. This is why they seek to keep us dumb and divided.
My 2 cents.
$15000 for a driver in a supply convy paid to a contractor who in turn hired locals for $200+risk premium ie another $200. Have a couple of whites in the mix and pay them that big amount so you can trot them out as proof you used Americans.
$26 million for a village school with 5 class rooms. Something like that can be built in India( costlier place than Afghanistan) even at today’s prices for less ₹30,000/- .
You decide if there was a money laundering operation.
What? When did Marx say anything like that? Citation please.
In fact, he said the opposite, that mankind was unique because it is man’s labor that transforms nature. It is the global liberal elites that say we’re just animals and that we should bow down and worship nature.
I don’t see China returning to preindustrial society anytime soon, do you?
Screw Mother Earth. Turn the earth into a spaceship for all I care.
Marx is too much of a half rate intellectual ruled by petty envy to say that for himself but it’s the only logical conclusion one can draw from Das Kapital where he makes the claim that a job is the definition of oppression which is an absurdly silly, simple minded and envious claim to make. If a job is oppression because the worker does not receive every cent of value he creates than the only answer is to have everyone work for themselves in small preindustrial village. The whole “workers own the means of production” is nothing but a shallow excuse for totalitarian rule and disingenuous at best. Every time you remove personal property it all ends up in the state. When everyone owns something no one owns it.
Marx does not talk about ANY job. Marx talks about a job in a Capitalist economy, where worker is exploited by the factory owner.
The solution is a job under Socialism.
Of course there is deindustrialisation but that’s YOUR theory.
Let’s be serious.
Tell me you haven’t read Marx without telling me you haven’t read Marx.
One day when Schwab stuffs you in a pod, gives you a ‘job’ selling NFTs of your feet and force feeds you bug paste through a tube you can take comfort in knowing that you stood up for the ruling class controlling everything. Who wouldn’t envy that?
Marx is too much of a half rate intellectual ruled by petty envy to say that for himself but it’s the only logical conclusion one can draw from Das Kapital where he makes the claim that a job is the definition of oppression which is an absurdly silly, simple minded and envious claim to make.
Read that on the milk carton ?
You read Das Kapital ?
Then give references to your claims.
I doubt Marx ever used the word “job” in his treatise.
He was a Mainstream Economist following in the tramlines of Adam Smith and David Ricardo WHO BOTH believed in Labour Theory of Value.
One would think the followers of Marx would have at least a small bit of humility in discussing their disgraced intellectual “hero” I mean the man’s ideas have only led to the deaths of a 100 million plus and still counting but hey maybe it will work next time right? lol I suggest you Marx fans step out of your fantasy bubble of utopia and read Marxism in practice, you can even choose which country and continent it takes place in.
I love how everyone asks for citations when I told you he never said that but it’s implied in the ideas. Please tell me if a job is the definition of oppression how does a society not fall back into a pre industrial state of affairs that isn’t a clear pathway into totalitarianism? Riddle me that oh you wise ones!
What reading of Marx are you referring to? Just curious 😉
The Western Baizuo one 🤣
They have NO holistic view
It is a tragedy in Western education that everything is packaged……..
Socialism in 19th Century had NO idea how to create the economic infrastructure to support the desired societal superstructure Marx proposed
It was not until Erich Ludendorff ran the German War Economy after 1916 that the idea of Central Planning created the route
Much the same way Greens have NO route plan – they are Emotional Spasm people who “feel” but do not “think” and lack rational pathways……….THEY WIN because they befuddle people seeing to create that rational framework who then become confused
Let 2 year olds run your life – it will have spontaneity
Let the world be run for the benefit of children…………it was not for the first few millennia – but now it seems to be in vogue
With all due respect, but I don`t remember Karl Marx calling for “a return to preindustrial society” when he envisaged a future in which machines would take over mankind`s chores and free up the individual, allowing for more creative pursuits.
One could of course argue the case for Marx being tragically misguided, but not (at least to my limited knowledge) for his consciously calling for the enslavement of the working class.
It is quite simple sir.
All the middle east wars started based upon lies that destroyed Libya and Iraq were just for profits.
The Military Industrial congressional complex has absolute control of the country.
We now have military bases, some huge and some small in almost every country on the planet, except for China obviously.
The evilest organization ever conceived the CIA has grown to gargantuan size and controls almost all the wars we have been in. Being in Afghanistan for 20 years was started and run by the CIA to make HUGE money off the heroin business.
Look at the airplane and Navy ship bone yards for the hundreds of BILLIONS of ships and planes now sitting and rusting away.
It is way worse than that. I refer you to the 1982 book “Overshoot” by William Catton and a recent video on the topic: https://www.resilience.org/stories/2023-01-11/william-e-rees-the-fundamental-issue-overshoot/
Problem is, fossil fuels are being used up at an accelerating pace, and they are not in infinite supply. They will run out. Then what?
And it’s not just the fuel. It is the feed stock for a lot of materials (medicine, clothes, carpeting, you name it). It is actually too valuable to just burn!
Technology gains may shift the materials usage and it should be recyclable, but we for sure will have a problem if we don’t start NOW.
I agree that the green thing is a religion, especially when they are trying to get people off of cooking with gas, which isn’t even 1% of the carbon emitted. If we could displace 99% of our fuel use it would be great, and the problem solved. Going for cooking gas is proof that it is ritually unclean in the eyes of the greens, and no longer about practical problems.
And then what? Nuclear.
If we can come up.with a reliable supply of unobtanium it will eliminate the need for all those other metals. There is plenty of unobtanium on Mars. Apparently you can’t walk 10 feet on that planet without stubbing your toe on a nugget of pure unobtanium. For those that are unaware of this wondermetal it is lighter than steel and stronger than aluminum.
“Then what?”
They will go on blaming the woke/leftist/greenies/whatever.
(Not in blogs like this, but around a fire).
The guy who said
“And then what? Nuclear.”
He may think that nuclear stuff is infinite …
“He may think that nuclear stuff is infinite …”
It now sorta is. Russia’s, now certified proven fast breeder technology closes the fuel cycle. Even better, the technology can use the world’s stock of nuclear waste.
As it is with a number of real tech fields like aerospace, Russia is generations ahead of the world in nuclear tech as well.
http://large.stanford.edu/courses/2019/ph241/hooks2/
As it’s Stanford, it would be interesting to know what sort of mark he got for that paper. He misses a number of important points and gets a few dead wrong as well.
One wonders if statements like “Japan is now one of the only countries remaining with a strong outlook on their breeder reactor research…” are a product of laziness, or some sort of taboo about Russia’s technological achievements. Russia/USSR has >80yrs of continuous experience developing & running FBRs of various configurations.
Stanford employs Michael McFaul.
Yeah, for all practical purposes, it is.

Utter nonsense that “fossil fuel” is running out. The entire planet is nearly soaking in oil. All of Venezuela sits on top of an oil field. You have bought into the lies about zero oil, oil is running out, oil is made from dead dinosaurs, etc. Humanity, if it does not nuke itself to death will develop energy technologies and will be traveling to other planets and Earth will still be filled with oil. The Earth continuously creates oil as a product of its internal movements.
We ain’t ever running out of oil.
Even if there is abiotic oil that the Earth is constantly reproducing, at what rate?? The current levels of demand had been growing steadily every year (with a temporary decline due to the covid scamdemic), that is until the greenies started the current demand destruction. We have already picked the “low-hanging fruit” and the EROEI (Energy Returned on Energy Invested, ie. money) has been going down steadily. At some point resource wars are/were bound to happen, and it happens to every empire on its way down towards collapse.
The fiction of Peak Oil has been around for decades yet despite record use, known reserves have been increasing every year. There are more “known reserves” now then when the concept of “peak oil” was first floated.
The rate is based on osmotic pressures, that means the more we use the faster it is made. We stop using it and the process stops due to back pressure. Co2 is recycled in oceanic or geological processes ,ask any geologist about this.
The molecular components are not destroyed on the combustion process and are efficiently recycled. Basically it is powered by Earth processes, heat and
ressure. Petroleum is the ultimate renewable energy source.
The Russians have known this for decades, that is how they are such efficient producers.
Could I interest you in some outstandingly profitable bridge shares, Lou? A clued-up, clear-thinker like you will be able to make a packet out of them…
Which is why cold areas used to have low population and very low productivity.
Here in South Asia you can grow cotton, silk make thread, weave fantastic soft fabrics and luxurious silks, thin muslin cloth and grow jute for packaging dry produce.
Run sophisticated handlooms to make delicate to simple fabric.
Use cattle to till the soil and fertilise it too.
The weather allowed one to grow throughout the year. Nor did you need to heat homes.
It’s not just the West’s war against Russia that is part of this resource depletion problem.
The West’s wars against Iraq, Libya, attempted coups in Venezuela, and numerous countries in Africa are all part of the strategy to plunder whatever is left to save the dying lifestyle of the “golden billion” at the expense of all the “slaves” around the world.
I also believe the US plan to destroy Europe and bring it’s lifestyle down to Burundi’s or Somalia’s might also be part of that resource depletion problem. If (or now when) the US kills off that fat European pig and the pig stops consuming so much fossil fuels (such as oil and natural gas), US will have bought itself another 5-10 years of relatively low energy price. Europe is the third largest (after China and the US itself) energy consumer. That demand needs to be reduced as close to 0 as possible to buy some more time for the Empire of Lies.
Yes, it makes sense for the US to knock out Europe since they are a big energy and resource user and that way frees up more for them of whats left. So the basic logic would be to drive everyone else energy usage way down except the elite and if that can be achieved then they obviously think they can still swan around in their private jets a good deal longer.
Are you asking a question, the answer to which has been clear for a long time to many ordinary people in Russia: The United States has been destroying the European energy market since about 2004. Now we are witnessing the final stage.
The first Maidan in Ukraine (Orange Revolution) at the end of 2004 and control by the United States over the main transit country. A coincidence?
As soon as the Russian government did not try to explain to the German government what unauthorized gas extraction from the pipe by Ukraine means. Merkel just nodded her head and mumbled something, and the Western pro-American press shouted about Russia as an unreliable supplier, about Russia’s use of gas as an energy weapon, about the lack of freedom molecules in the stinking Russian gas, about Europe’s dependence on the evil Putin…
Once there was a light at the end of the tunnel, when Germany decided to build the northern streams 1-2 bypassing the pro-American transit countries. South Stream was safely hacked down thanks to Bulgaria. Wherever you look, everywhere Eastern Europe, at the instigation of the United States, put sticks in the wheels of Germany and the European Union.
And what about Merkel? And Merkel habitually droned on about the need to preserve transit through Ukraine and Russia’s violation of the Minsk agreements.
The main economic competitor and rival of the United States before the rise of China and Russia has been and remains the European Union for all years.
The war in Ukraine was started by the United States against Russia and against Western Europe at the same time. Eastern Europe – provocateurs of war, a Trojan horse in the European Union.
No wind turbine has ever generated back the energy used to make it.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-01-23/wind-turbine-collapses-punctuate-green-power-growing-pains?twclid=2-485p6bx4ufl3azlqacqn7188o
Most likely the jury is still out on whether the EROI of wind turbines is positive or negative. As far as I know the gurus of the EROI have estimated that the wind turbines on average have an EROI of 40:1. However they do acknowledge that this does NOT include any energy investment into the problem of “intermittency” (i.e. the fact that energy is needed 100% of the time and wind blows only 0-50% of the time, depending on location).
Musk built a huge (150 Mega Watt) “energy storage” facility in Australia (called Hornsdale Power Reserve) at the cost of $100 million. So, if the cost of energy waste on such facilities were to be included in the Wind EROI, it might go down to 0 or negative from the respectable 40:1 level.
The most astounding thing in this whole “green” fraud is that NO ONE even pretended to do ANY analysis on EROI. Professor Simon Michaux (from that Finland GTK / Geological Survey of Finland) institute was the first guy who ran the numbers and, MAN, it is a WOOZY! As the article above points out Simon Michaux’s estimates suggest that our Earth does NOT even have enough metals for the 1ST GENERATION of this green BS, let alone the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and nth….
But when did the REALITY stop the Western “intellectuals” from jumping from a high tower onto an asphalt parking lot head down?! All we need is a fraud like Al Gore and a Down-syndrome gal like Greta to lighten the WAY! 🙂
Some scientific papers worth reading re EROI:
“EROI of different fuels and the implications for society” (by Charles Hall, Jessica Lambert, and Stephen Balogh, 2014),
“EROI of Global Energy Resources, Preliminary Status and Trends” (by Jessica Lambert, Charles Hall, Alexandre Poisson, and Ajay Gupta, 2014)
40:1 is fiction. It only works if you use the rated output which is never seen for more than a few minutes, snd the service life of the units is fantasy-land
Using rated output (power) instead of energy, is the most common sleight of hand used to fool people. They will say this solar plant produces enough power for 20,000 homes! Only while the sun is shining and is directly overhead.
I dug around and to find out how much energy is actually produced. I looked at Earth First’s numbers because they are pushing hard for investing everything in renewable energy and therefore are not trying to sugarcoat how much progress has been made that way a utility company would . Germany for example is supposed to be on the cutting edge of renewables. At present solar produces 2% of Germany’s stationary power plant energy output. Wind is another 2%. That means 1/25 of its stationary energy, and we aren’t even talking about energy generated by motor vehicles.
In response to Webej and RockTime:
I think that’s an interesting idea but from the books I have read on environmentalism we seem to still have several hundred years of resources left in gas and oil. And the technological breakthrough recently for nuclear power to create power with no waste means in the near future we could have more electricity than we know what to do with. Within several hundred years we should be able to find an alternative to coal, oil, and natural gas.
Sorry to disappoint you, Darth, we don’t.
The problem the mankind has run into (as we speak) — which I believe is why there is all this bullshit about “green energy” and “climate change” and maybe even COVID, etc. — is that oil (and soon natural gas) are peaking.
And OIL is by far THE MOST IMPORTANT one in this lineup as 100% of global supply chain / logistics depends on it. Without oil we are back to the 16th / 17th century “civilization”, steamboats, sail ships, etc.
On top of “peaking” we have the EROI issue.
All the “cheap” oil is almost gone. Here is a question — US of A is proudly declaring to the world that they keep pumping shale oil and US now the biggest pumper there is. When do you think the big shale oil deposits were discovered? Well, they were all known since the 1960s. Why weren’t they pumped back in the 1960s or 1970s? Because it is way too expensive (from the Energy IN vs. Energy OUT) perspective compared to the “conventional” oil, which the US extracted first (and that stuff peaked in 1971).
Will oil underground still exist 100 or even 200 years from now?!
Hell YEAH!
Will it be economical from the EROI perspective to pump it out?!
Hell NO!
When the 1st oil deposit in the US (Spindletop, TX) was discovered in 1901 it required a tiny-tiny rig and a 300 foot oil well to be drilled to get to 150 million barrels of oil (my guess is a total investments of $50,000, if that – and $12B of oil pumped out).
Nowadays, they build gigantic ocean rigs (30,000 tons of steel, helicopters, ships, etc.) and drill 5,000-10,000 feet wells to discover (and celebrate) deposits as big as 100 million barels.
My guess is in 100 years there will be plenty of oil, maybe 20,000,000 feet underground that would require 1,000 Mega joules of energy to get 1 Mega joule of energy back.
But yeah, there will still be oil, no doubt. 🙂
Thank you, I had replied to a comment up above about EROEI & resource wars/depletion but it hasn’t been approved yet.
I have had so many conversations & comments in various threads on various websites for well over 10 years about EROEI, “renewables” are fossil fuel derivatives, and we just don’t have the infrastructure built yet, we need a good combination of renewables with good battery systems to store the energy for the intermittent times. It take a good 10 yrs +/- to build that infrastructure & get people to change their behaviors & expectations. And, to practice energy conservation as well. Plus, the quantity of oil in an oilfield need to be proven not just claimed to be there. The difference can be huge!
For example, Saudi Arabia used to be the #1 global producer for quite a long timespan but isn’t there anymore. The link below has an interesting chart at the top, when you click on play, it shows a moving chart from 1990 to 2021, in which the top producers go up, down, sometimes back up & some disappear like Indonesia & United Kingdom.
https://yearbook.enerdata.net/crude-oil/world-production-statistics.html
I have many books on all these different but related subjects, and have even heard Richard Heinberg speak in a very small setting & Matthew Simmons twice before his passing.
Check your premise?
There is plenty of easier-to-get oil.
Obama ONLY allowed the deep water leases!
Russel,
Where? I would like to invest, as would perhaps Exxon or Chevron. Instead, they keep wasting hundreds of billions on expensive projects – its not as if they actually are good at making money.
Its a global market and most of the globe is NOT run by corrupted politicos in DC.
Maybe Siberia as it becomes more accessible under warming scenarios. Oh, that’s off-limits, now.
Darth, may I make the same offer to you that I made to Lou above? I have these hugely profitable bridge shares at rock-bottom prices. Interested? A savvy, far-seeing realist like you should be… 🙂
There is another problem with greens “all in” State-ist proto-fascist fantasies and that is the inability to acknowledge that once a system is destabilized, there is no means to “fix it.” A new equilibrium will establish itself after an amount of time dependent on the inertia of the existing system in proportion to the scale of the change in terms of both time and quantity.
Sorry Karen, stopping world wide Latte deliveries and investing in photo-voltaic scams will not do anything at all to influence pre-existing changes to atmospheric composition. Slowing the rate of change will not have an appreciable impact. So go ahead, fly to Davos, it makes no difference.
OTOH, the problem with anti-greenies is a similar unwillingness to acknowledge one particular salient point. i.e. the unarguable fact that there has been a state change to the chemical composition of the atmosphere reasonably attributable to increased hominid energy conversion since the industrial revolution. As anyone with a rudimentary capacity for engineering and physics understands, compositional changes to a solution alter the thermodynamic gradient of the solution. See point above about what can be done about it.
I appreciate you making this point though. It infuriates me that these prissy lying holier than thou scumbags presume to either give a f*ck or have a meaningful solution.
*Retired Bank Auditor
“thermodynamic gradient”
Huh?
heat distribution
It doesn’t alter that, in general.

If … unobtanium … ! Problem is it doesn’t exist other than in Marsian dreams where you just stumble over it, eh? 🙂
Using the physics of the plasma universe model, as enumerated by A.J. Peratt in his second edition of his book Physics of the Plasma Universe, (Springer etc), we can model the Earth as a leaky capacitor. It is part for a larger circuit of flow of electrical energy involving the solar wind and light itself. This energy flows outward from the mantle to the ionosphere, to the heliosphere in both directions depending on the nature of the electrical charge.
The MOHO is a global seismic velocity boundary that could be interpreted as a thermionic emitter of energy. Magmatic lava is essentially a thermionic emitter. As the Earth system is continually recharged by the solar wind, energy is thus stored internally like a capacitor, and continually leaks out via the ionosphere. It could be said that we are literally drowning in energy but lack the wit to tap into it. Nikola Tesla apparently did, so many believe. How remains classified.
And petroleum is not a fossil fuel, the metallurgy of which is generally known as the Russian-Ukrainian theory of Abiotic hydrocarbon system. Same goes for coal – it too is a carbon precipitate from the continued outgassing of mantle methane.
We have a potential to access abundant energy underfoot but not the theories or will to tap it. Our ancestors seem to have done so but we appear to have forgotten how they did. The energy requirements for building the pyramids remains unknown to us.
The US is searching for petroleum every where except continental US as the oil industry has been locked out by the Greens and their environmental religion. We need to lose our green religion.
(I am a retired mining geologist and current editor of the NCGT Journal in Australia).
I’m curious if the Russian Academy of Sciences has ever seriously discussed Plasma Cosmology.
The collapse of society “is” the plan…..
Of course the Empire wants to get it’s greedy hands on Global ressources, that’s what globalism is all about…
“Could the NATO proxy war with Russia have an ulterior motive to collapse Russia to grab its vast natural resources to fulfill the Greenies’ net-zero fantasies?”
I would say that, at least for Europe, it’s quite the opposite. EU political elites (all of them quite green) want to cut ties with Russia in part to force a faster transition to renewables thanks to the increased prices of gas and oil.
They want to cut ties with Russia only because they obey their master in the US.
They are unable to think this or that.
“EU political elites (all of them quite green)”
Anyone who knows a bit about European politics can see that you say nonsense.
Not even the “die Grünen” in Germany are green, por favor.
They can “pretend” they are, but do not be ridiculous, they are not.
Rather than the unrealistic aim of totally ending the use of fossil fuels, why isn’t the focus on improving hybrid technology such as the cars being produced by Toyota? Fuel use is greatly lowered and the battery doesn’t have to be plugged into the electrical grid to charge. And clean emissions technology can be continually researched and improved to further reduce the emissions released by the burning of fossil fuels for both cars and other industry’s. Car exhaust fumes of today’s cars are infinitely cleaner than those of cars from 50 years ago for example.
This pie in the sky green agenda for the total banning of fossil fuels is unrealistic and should lead most people to the inescapable conclusion that this is cover for the real agenda at play here which isn’t going to be good for the bulk of humanity.
I bought a 2021 Toyota Venza, it weighs two tons and gets 42 miles to the gallon. It uses only 100 lbs battery versus 1200 for Tesla. Love it!
I have a 2018 Hyundai Elantra that runs on gasoline only. I average about 45 mpg, more in summer, slightly less in winter. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think a battery is an especially good idea in the place I live. As I write, it’s -8 F outside where my car is.
I have 2014 Porsche Cayenne Diesel. It’s all wheel drive, has a 29 gallon fuel tank and does 35 on the highway, more if I have turn off my Valentine One. I took it from Jacksonville Fl to Denver Co and fueled up once along the way.
It has enough torque to pull a frieght train and I can run it on used french fry oil if I had to.
Something, a lot, and I mean a LOT of the “greenies” don’t acknowledge is that the batteries, EV’s, wind turbines, etc are all fossil fuel (hydrocarbon) derivatives. Meaning you need fossil fuels, all of the big “Tonka” trucks to mine the precious metals, etc (that are practically impossible to recycle once they’ve been added to other materials to create composites, & are considered non-renewables); processing; transportation to manufacturers to create batteries, solar panels, etc; then transporting the products to the store that sells it to the end user; & then transportation to landfills..
Indigenous peoples lived a lot closer to the earth & had a much lighter impact on it than us.
My state of Oregon recently passed laws that will destroy our grid and prevent new combustion engines in vehicles being sold. Probably even Hydrogen Toyotas are banned, and all they produce is water out the tailpipe.
The high state muckity muck sent out an email and I replied asking her if she had thought about where the state was going to get the amount of copper wire needed to put all the chargers in that won’t negatively affect the regular amount of electricity in our state. Crickets.
Where were they going to put the chargers in the rural areas? I want to go buy land nearby for a Motel 150 where the people charging their cars in the wilderness will need to sleep until spring. I will have hundreds of people waiting to charge up and get back on the freeway which is already in progress.
The mass psychosis goes on. What can stop it?
Brian O.,
What will stop it?
Regular failure of the energy grid (Texas writ large) – coming soon to California, too, when all the ACs are turned on in the summer.
Note how rapidly Europe abandoned all the green energy programs when expedient.
We had to destroy the Earth to save the Earth.
Greenies are nothing more than magic thinkers: Too bad too many of them are incapable of faith in a higher power.
“Could the NATO proxy war with Russia have an ulterior motive to collapse Russia to grab its vast natural resources to fulfill the Greenies’ net-zero fantasies?”
No. Very few of the metals on that list are significantly or principally supplied by Russia.
What Russia has is fossil fuel energy, nitrogen fertilizers, potassium fertilizers (Belarus), wheat, nickel, processed uranium.
My guess is deep-down the “elites” know quite well that the whole “Greeenie” BS is…well, just the BS.
Of course they won’t share this info with the dumb sheeple — for those there are the “climate change”, the “CO2”, and the “green revolution” narratives.
But the only things that matter are Oil, Natural Gas, Coal, and Uranium. And the Western warmongering “elites” know it better than anyone.
So, no, they want to destroy Russia and commit genocide of the entire population of Russia not because of Lithium or Cadmium, but because they want to prolong their raping of the world by grabbing more fossil fuels, primarily Oil and Gas (Uranium is mostly in Australia, which they own and rape daily anyways)…
There is a good case to be made that oil is abiotic and is very renewable resource.
The evidence is too lengthy to get into here, but the theory answers a lot of nagging questions about the volume of petroleum available as well as its location. The fossil fuel theory frankly doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.
A primer on the topic.

After doing some looking around have a look at Russia’s gas and oil reserves and work in the Arctic and then think about western elites coveting those resources.
Consider for a moment Germany’s technological capacity combined with Russia’s resources especially natural gas and oil.
There you have the nexus surrounding the US-British led proxy war against Ukraine.
Re state change to the chemical composition of the atmosphere;
https://mediatheque.lindau-nobel.org/recordings/34729/ivar-giaever-global-warming-revisited
The reality is that these so called caring environmentalists are fundamentally anti-human they believe in Gaia but exlusive of humans . A cult of anti-science they are not prepared to debate the true realities of their position ; they just develop and potray this net zero narrative and ensure that the resultant propaganda momentum will prevail and collapse our technologocal society to a point of no return where the damage cannot be reversed . Basic High School physics will dismiss their position as scientific bunkum .
And this one a why western civilisation will collapse.
The rich and educated will quickly leave.
The USA is involved in a world war. We are being defeated through the use of internal enemies. You can explore emissions, energy mix as a percent of total energy, total energy production at ourworldindata. Klaus Scwab has been working in China since the late 70s driving industrial investment and technology transfer. Bill gates is heavily invested in China. Both are screaming as loudly as they can that the West is destroying the planet and have to quit using dirty fuels. The data shows that Europe and the USA have greatly reduced coal use. Oil use is flat. Natural gas use is up. Renewables are up from about .75 percent to 1.5 percent after enormous investment. It is a joke and not worth talking about. CO2 emissions are down in Europe and the USA. Energy use is down in Europe and mostly flat… very small decline in the USA over the last 20 years. CO2 emissions are down in Europe and the USA. Are Klaus and Gates singing our praises? No. It isn’t nearly enough. China avg enegy use went from 10 TWh to 50 TWh in 20 years. The USA is half that. USA reduced coal use from 8 TWh to 3 TWh. China increased from 10 to 26 TWH in coal use alone. As a result China’s CO2 production is through the roof and outpaces the reductions in the West. The USA and Europe are exporting record amounts of coal to China. You can’t make this poop up! Gates and Schwab don’t give a crap about climate change. They want to take the West’s coal and bring it to China cheaply. And they are doing it at our expense. They are literally waging war against their own populations and winning.
https://ourworldindata.org/energy/country/china
Absolutely this is all propaganda and nonsense created to enrich the 1% and enslave the rest of the citizens of the West.
Thanks for keepin’ it real, Goldhoarder. Can’t wait until Gates uploads himself into the cloud, only to find himself in his own personal Hell. On that possibility, one comment I saw was wishing that the janitor in the server farm unplugs the server that His Nibs is on to vacuum the floor, and he gets deleted.
Net Zero, and all the other “green” stuff is a cover story, using fear of climate change to drive restrictions on freedom. The Davos crowd wants us all living within 15 minutes of home, and not traveling anywhere.
They’re talking about restricting air travel to 1500 km every 3 years. Electric cars have no range, so no road trips as it takes days to charge one, and range drops precipitously in winter. And of course, no meat, as we’ll “eat ze bugs” except the elites, who will still enjoy steak and private jets.
It’s all part of the neo-feudal agenda of the WEF and has nothing to do with carbon or the environment, just population control. The COVID response was the warm-up act to see what they could get away with. Everybody rolled over on that one, so now they are confident they can steamroll us with severe restrictions to “save the planet.”
Any practical limitations like mining of minerals, etc., just give more cover to more draconian restrictions until we get to that magical future of zero emissions. Arguing it isn’t possible gets the response that we’ll just have to do without then, and suffer so we can halt climate change. If there was any chance net zero would work, they wouldn’t try it as they’d lose their “need” for control.
The “Estimated Metal Reserves” table is based on two wrong assumptions.
The first is that metals are consumables; they are not. It makes sense to talk about “fossil fuel reserves”, because fossil fuels are destroyed (the energy in them is consumed) when they are used. But copper and lithium and nickel are not destroyed; for practical purposes they are indestructible. When the components they are used in reach their end of life, the metals in them can be recycled.
The second is that “estimated reserves” have something to do with the quantity available on Earth. They do not. They are estimates of amounts available in known reserves. Mining companies do not look for new sources until they will need them in a few years. Compare the estimates, over the years, for the “reserves” of petroleum; the Club of Rome, in the 1970s, predicted we would run out in the 1990s.
What i know it’s not possible to recycle lithium batteries. Please give a link if you know one describing recycle lithium.
Recylcling the metals…with what energy input??
Even if the existing batteries could be 100% recycled there still isn’t enough, but math is racist so we can’t say it.
most of the metals in decommisisoned tech are not recycled and there exists no practical method to recover lithium from old battery goop. If one did come up in the future the metals that are buried today are unlikely to be ever recovered.
The CO2COALITION.ORG and Bjorn Lomborg support what you are saying. In fact the CO2 Coalition has filed a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency in the Washington DC 5th circuit court charging that the US government has lied to its citizens and propagated harmful policies, against fossil fuels, driving up the cost and reliability of electrical power grids. The leaders of this coalition are William Haaper, a leading physicist from Princeton University and Richard Lindzen, the leading climate physicist from MIT. There are dozens and dozens of research scientists, engineers, geologists, nuclear physicists – serious scientists- who have proven by scientific evidence in the amicus brief filed with the DC court that CO2 emissions are not harmful to the planet. Bjorn Lomborg is a world renowned economist who also has effectively debated the climate crisis nonsense for the last 15+ years. The political-business-banking cartel of nations has decided they can make huge profits from the ignorance of the public and by generating lies and creating fear of extinction. This is all nonsense. It’s manipulation and propaganda to make more money for the 1% and keep the masses poor and afraid.
If you want to read all the scientific evidence refuting CO2 emissions please find the amicus brief here:
https://co2coalition.org/2022/06/23/co2-coalition-files-amicus-brief-in-5th-circuit-court/
All true. I for one wouldn’t mind going back to a hunter gatherer society. Did you know heart attack, stroke, cancers, lung diseases, kidney diseases, “the diseases of despair” (addiction, overdose, suicide, gun violence), obesity and diabetes, infertility, etc. are not found in contemporary traditional living Hunter-Gatherer clans/bands…
How are you goint to treat broken bones and septicaemia? Will your women go back to dying in childbirth?
At the core of the “green” ideology lies pure misanthropy, the view, that mankind is a cancer of the earth, which has to be removed. They have even began to admitting this openly e.g. here in The Atlantic
https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2023/01/anthropocene-anti-humanism-transhumanism-apocalypse-predictions/672230/
“Renewable energy” is the path to the goal they are dedicated to. And the Ukraine war is like winning the jackpot for them as it allows a great leap forward (pun intended) towards their end goal ,especially the nonsensical sanctions. These people are not stupid as most still belief. They are evil. That’s why arguing rationally is useless. They simply don’t care.
There is a huge solar system in Southern Nevada that focuses mirrors on a tower that turns water into steam to drive a turbine to produce electricity. The sight is a death zone for birds. Birds fly into the focused sunlight and are burned alive. Ivanpah Solar Plant kills an estimated 6000 birds annually.
Ah, my. When conflicting lunacies collide. They will need a Praetorian Guard to beat the US citizenry into woke compliance. But they need to hire women and “Its”. None of which can fight. And please do not bring up the IDF’s eye candy. And as a retired police officer, I can tell you what gender officer is always involved in the brawls. And it ain’t the protected diversity hires. And we need to invade and subjugate the world. But damn, those tanks burn lots of JP4. And with two weeks of vaxxing and diversity training a week? When do we have time to stage invasions anymore? And shit we were ready to depopulate the nice beaches with abortion and vaxxes, but now we need cannon fodder for the wars! Hard to tell the “right” path anymore.
The “green” & “climate control “ initiatives is supposed to be the new West cash cow to collect worldwide since petro dollar soon gone. A new tribute to pay to the West and suppress all other economies and crush petro use if not tied to dollar. They know petro dollar scam is over.
How wildly optimistic to think that it won’t be Mad Max world by then.
Destroyed from within as part of the Long March.
These things happen when you can’t control your government, or waistline, or you own mind.
Take over Russia and steal our resources?
That is not going so good is it?
The focus of the Green (Energy) Revolution is on climate change, a symptom of Overshoot. The real challenges are Waste, Depletion, World Population. For example, CO2 is nothing more than the waste of the use of fossil fuels, this article discusses one aspect of depletion and world population is the main factor in the Malthusian calculus.
In that context, the goals of the energy revolution are not only not-achievable but the attention it gets is also highly misleading. No one seems to have the gut to get to the core.
No they are after the Fossil Fuels. Full Stop.
SMO = POW ( Peak Oil War )
No serious calculation supports climate change, renewable energy, EVs, or any of the other Green Agenda’s themes. They’re all cut from the same cloth that “Ukraine is winning” and “the vaxxines are safe & effective” were cut from. It’s Scientism, plain & simple.
The Green Agenda is all about the creation of Borrell’s European “Garden” paradise where the population own nothing, do nothing or think anything. Free to enjoy the sort of virtual happiness only a Metaverse can deliver. The principle advantage of living in the Metaverse is you don’t even need many real people, consuming even less resources and saving the planet even faster.
Their control of the world’s global financial & political institutions had convinced the “Gardeners” that they’d so tightly bound Borrell’s “Jungle” that it had no option but to continue supplying the Garden with goods and resources while they skimmed the profits that would otherwise create a demand for those goods and resources within the Jungle itself.
Unfortunately for them, the Jungle led by Russia & China went off script, declaring that it’s going to keep all of the profits for itself. By developing work-arounds to their global institutions, the Jungle has left the Gardeners with no way forward. Halfway into their Garden, they can’t even go to war.
The Either/Or the Gardeners are facing is EITHER everything becomes Jungle OR or everything goes Bust. Not a happy choice, but it is what it is.
“Could the NATO proxy war with Russia have an ulterior motive to collapse Russia to grab its vast natural resources to fulfill the Greenies’ net-zero fantasies?”
Of course it could be a plausible motive.
Is it working? Is it succeeding? Will it happen?
Answer to all the above: NO!
To date, the result is an utter abject failure.
And if the West ever came close to achieving such, would result in the destruction of the planet and Man heading back to the Stone Age……
God put that here for us to use, get ALL of the hydrocarbons out of the ground. Down with the Open Society, Down with the WEF!
Before 40 million years ago the CO2 level was 2-4 times higher than now, and dropped to roughly current levels by about 20 million years ago. The drop in CO2 was an ecological catastrophe, the plants gasped for breath (and continue to do so). There were massive evolutionary advances, some plants invented “C4” photosynthesis, independently in several lineages, to adapt to the lower CO2. Corn, for example, is a C4 plant attempting to adapt to our current low CO2 levels; while wheat is not.
But the climate change cult hates humanity. They do not consider the possibility that humanity (perhaps by the will of God as Randolorian suggests) saves the earth by releasing CO2 into the atmosphere, so that the poor plants no longer have to gasp.
I mean duh? Just plant more trees and more crops.
Life itself was responsible for converting our atmosphere into something breathable for us, so this idea that living creatures shouldn’t affect the environment and nature should remain static is utter nonsense.
If we wish the salvation of humanity, we will have to hate the climate change cult more than they hate us.
Alas, the Greens are an apocalyptic religious cult and these facts will be seen (if they are willing to see them) as hearsay and ignored.
http://www.withouthotair.com/
I wonder why/how the ESG agenda is still being promoted. Data does not support it.
GIGO – Garbage In Garbage Out. If you cook up tables with garbage data, then any conclusions you draw from them will also be garbage. Those tables are pure unadulterated fantasy. Look at the first line for example – copper. According to your “data” you require 4.5 billion tonnes of copper to replace fossil fuels – what do you want to do with it, wind it 1000 around the planet? GIGO. That is about 500kg of copper per man woman and child on this planet. Where I live I am off grid, the only electricity I have comes from solar panels, and I certainly don’t need 500kg of copper – maybe 4kg max, including the solar panels, wiring, devices etc. If you just pull figures out of your ass and shove them into pretty tables, this is what you get.
Unfortunately today everything is based on propaganda. The Green Agenda is based on 99.999% propaganda. Then the oil industry churns out counter-propaganda so the counter-arguments are no more coherent and no more factual than the original propaganda. Bulls__t on both sides.
US America is nuts.
I find your post interesting, and worth of analysis. However, individual consumption of energy is not comparable to industrial consumption. The amount of energy required to create the aluminum to support the solar panels is quite big. The same goes to processing all raw materials into usable forms. So, even if you are right in some measure, it is quite possible that the Finland study has a valid point.
Sadly, I could not find the original study. I’d like to read it.
Mr. Johnson; would like to respectfully make the following comments. i think if they cannot get us one way ; they will try to get us with another. allot of stuff below; i hope some of your readers have some time on their hands.
————————————————–
china , russia and india- the 3 biggest industrial countires in the world ( the us is not one of those anymore) are not having anything to do with this. why should we commit economic hari kari to save the planet where even if there was something to this carbon business ; if the 3 countries listed are not apart of it; would not make any difference at all.
if carbon was such a big concern; we should be planting oxygen producing trees and plants on a huge scale worldwide to suck it all up instead of deforesting everything in site. A volcano puts out allot more co2 into the atmosphere than human activity can compete with. Also if the vikings grew barley in greenland 1000 yrs ago ;then that world must have been allot warmer than it is know. Contrast that to a couple of hundred yrs ago the thames river totally froze over .Climate change in my opinion is a natural occurring thing with its own cycles.
if yu fact check this; of course it will be refuted . Reuters is a good example

However, between 1400 and 1835, this also resulted in at least 24 winters where the River Thames froze over which led to merriment for all.
there are many scientists out there that think we are heading into another cooling cycle which is the opposite of what we are taught. The green agenda would be a disaster for our countries if this is true; we need all the power we can get to build heated greenhouses etc.

this also happened in the recent past in 1816.- they think it was because of a volcanic eruption of mount tampora . millions around the world starved. could easily happen again.

Lou Brooks says 3 February 2023 at 18:16 Utter nonsense that “fossil fuel” is running out. The entire planet is nearly soaking in oil
As someone that spent their working career in the oil industry i strongly concurr with his statement. i believe the entire fossil fuel myth was created to create artificial shortages and fear mongering. i believe Oil like deep fresh water (ie. »Qaddafi plans to green the desert ) is an abiotic resource.

the other topic is about nuclear power. i listened to this genetleman a few yrs ago. his name was galen winsor. he was born in 1926 and served in the pacific during ww2. Right after he went straight into the fledgling nuclear industry. When he became fed up with the state of affairs he did a series of lecture tours in the 80`s stating that nuclear power was allot more safe than we were told and this actual very safe form of energy was being stolen from us for our use. he also lived to be 82 passing away in 2008
since i am no expert on nuclear power am not saying he is totally right; but what he says seems to may make allot of sense depending ones world point of view .
it has been a couple of yrs since i listened to this; if i recall this is some of what he said below
a) he stated that he thought the 3 mile incident may have been staged to scare the american public, it is quite the coincidence that this movie came out just 12 days before the 3 mile island incident starring hanoi jane. the pepsi syndrome skit done on saturday night live soon after with dan akroyd as the 90 ft tall president is still pretty funny.

The China Syndrome – 1979

b) »Nuclear waste is not actually waste the way the public understand it as
c) He ate uranium on stage and said that the exposure limits were ridiculously low
d) He talked about swimming in the cooling pond of the reactor site he worked at.
e) he gave an interesting definition of the word critical mass and yes it will kill yu.
f) he said that every city could have its own reactor with an essentially limitless supply of cheap energy

Thanks for posting/reposting dad’s video. There are several videos of him out there. If there is anyone out there that has a video that is still on VHS or Beta it would be awesome if they would have it digitized and uploaded to YouTube.
I know there are many people that think he was using slight of hand when he licked the Uranium powder off of his hand. It is not a trick! I have done the same thing with the same vile of uranium. He was not being paid by major electrical generation companies. He received an honorarium for his lectures but otherwise was self funded.
this is a clown world story if it was not so serious.

if yu need a good laugh the pepsi syndome is one of the skits in this SNL show where richard benjamin was the guest. it came out a week and half after 3 mile island. the pepsi syndrome skit starts at the 8 minute mark of the archive below after mr. Benjamins monologue.

there have been more efficient wind harvesting energies and wave energy geothermal are promising energies that do not involve turbines . top depend on fossil fuel is also only a limited supply source as well. to depend on just fossil fuel is short sighted and dangerous better construction materials and glass that requires less heating & cooling energy are important technologies as well and perhaps one day we will have cold fusion. my public housing complex was built in 1984 and is incredibly poorly insulated with only one pane windows and thin walls. the temp outside is 44 below zero and with the gas boilers cranking full blast for days can’t keep the indoor temp above 66 degrees and you can feel the wind blowing through windows and walls . HEMP concrete is very renewable construction material and a good fuel sources but Petroleum lobby has blocked that industry for a century. we also really don’t know what deposit of lithium and minerals required for solar batteries etc really are. we also don’t really know the amount of oil & coal reserves there are and what harvesting those substances may do to the atmosphere rivers land etc . it is a subject that needs cooperation between industry government etc and without the WEF overlords running the for profit only shit show . if we don’t hang together we we all hang separately. maybe a benevolent alien force will show us how to implement Tesla energy or some genius kid in Russia India or Peru will show us a new infinite energy source. God help us all
The joke of green energy is it was never intended for the global population.
Not possible…as stated.
What a great excuse to decimate the population in dozens of ways to achieve the narrative end game….which is a joke. The elite…If they succeeded in population reduction would no more use green energy than they would eat bugs.
They just need us out of the way so they can live the elaborate lives they deserve.
In a sense they do deserve it, because they have managed to convince the vast majority of people of their fairy tales.
Up here in Canada….we are not only thinly populated…we are an intellectual wasteland on an immense scale. Whether you are a far left greenie…or a conservative evangelical…95% of Canucks believe everything their television tells them.
Zelensky and Obama are gods in Canada. Even most so-called conservatives are washed up marxists with a veneer of window dressing.
Pastor Artur is anathema in 95% of evangelical churches… which would far sooner side with the Trudeau, Sighn monopoly…than spend 15 minutes in any kind of intellectual exercise.
Anyone got a link to the original study?
About Simon Michaux’s report (his videos are worth the time for sure):

Thanks!
I for one look forward to humans going back to a 17th century lifestyle.
Guess it won’t be 7bn but then,
-we don’t live forever
-better a billion hard working humans than the current screen-gazing bisexual trannies which i believe is the end point of continous luxury.
Don’t tell me about the great internet.
We are stuck here because nobody physically near to us bother to look up from their screen to talk to us.
Oh well, I miss the joy of the poor old days.
All those greens out there I have one word
INERTIA look it up and understand it as it applies to any countries electrical grid then understand green has no inertia
I couldn’t find a paper containing the info, in the above tables.
Would be possible to provide a direct link to the research project used in the above tables?

I think you are exactly right. Break up Russia and exploit its natural resources. I don’t think the average American realizes how big the country of Russia is. US has 4 time zones, Russia has 11. As an aggregate, they have more natural resources than any other country in the world.
The average American thinks Russia is snow covered and the brutish citizens venture out in fur to take a leak.
Whatever the cause the Arctic is livening and warming up, this means all the methane locked beneath it and under the permafrost adjacent to it will begin to escape. The most sane response to this fact is to use that methane up as a priority, this is exactly where Gazprom was extracting gas for NS1+2. https://earth.nullschool.net/#2022/08/15/1300Z/ocean/surface/currents/overlay=sea_surface_temp_anomaly/orthographic=-45.32,82.48,679/loc=67.363,71.682

Joe Biden has 45% approval rating.
The climate change narrative has at least that support level. As long as politicians say it and most of the media supports it it has legs of its own.
The USA probably needs a good ass kicking(EMP attack within the 48 lower states), or 20,000 coffins from a ill advised Ukraine incursion( ordered by a stupid idealist like Michelle Obama-for all his shortcomings I think Biden talks to military people that cut to the chase)
Anyone interested in cleaner energy sources should check out Aureon.ca
The ONLY Clean energy is Oil and Gas, the mother nature ALREADY did over millions of years the chemical reactions we try to replicate in 50-100 years.
It’s insulting.
A good place to start is https://oilprice.com/
This is interesting development in hydrogen storage. Always thought lithium batteries in cars is beyond stupid.
https://www.renewableenergymagazine.com/hydrogen/new-powerpaste-for-hydrogen-storage-20210204
Few issues:
The cheapest method to generate Hydrogen is using natural gas. So, it defies the purpose.
Why not use the gas in the first place as a source of energy.
The so-called green Hydrogen uses solar panels and wind mills, which are made using oil and gas. so, the question is why not use the oil and gas, instead of going through an additional step, hydrogen.
The thermodynamics is a bitch.
One of its law says that every time you transform energy you lose energy as heat (caloric energy). So, in the case of green Hydrogen you are losing energy few times, to make the solar panels, and wind mills, to dispose the solar panels and the wind mills when they don’t work anymore, to transform something in Hydrogen and that something is methane (also known as gas), and then use the Hydrogen.
Now, the Hydrogen is the smallest atom known. If you remember the chemistry classes, it sits right up there and helium is beside it.
Being the smallest atom, or even the smallest molecule, it means it can go IN-BETWEEN all other elements. Why this matter? It matters because we can’t make a container out of anything to contain the damn thing, since it goes in-between anything. So, we have to combine it to keep it in one place. Combining it with anything, you’ve guessed by now, requires energy, from oil and gas.
So, why not use directly oil and gas instead of wasting oil and gas through unnecessary steps?
BTW the article above is RIGHT, we don’t have enough raw materials to make any kind of transition, but it lack the rigorous integrity
No need to discuss the purported solutions to the purported problem. Humans don’t control the climate. Never have, never will. So they don’t cause the ‘problem’ and can’t fix it either. If they tell you there’s a human cause problem they are lying If they tell you you can do something to fix it they’re lying. Don’t buy the bridge!
However, while we humans can’t fix it or control it, we can predict it.
The link below explains the little ice age, when people were walking across the Thames in London in winter and the medieval warm period when grapes grew in Scotland. If you’re an engineer, enjoy the maths. Otherwise skip the maths to the explanation . PS. We’re entering a cold period. Anyone in the US notice the snow?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI2t7yEu9b8
None of this is about the environment. Notice they never asked people to consume less. The amount of energy used by the surveillance state is enormous and that never is called into question either. The rolling genocide is bringing new energy savings every day. CA uses more electricity playing video games than entire countries entire usage. Hollywood is CAs premier polluter. Fires, explosions. Nary a word.
The environment is the new asset class that financializes the economy in the Great Reset system. Water was first publicly traded a year or so ago. More to follow. It’s the privatization of the Commons. It is the theft of the Commons.
The system is the problem. Capitalism that has run amok, imperialism its enabler and defender, and airs of superiority that blind us with the hubris of positivist rationality. An economic system that values accumulation of profit on one hand and libertine consumerism on the other has allowed for perverse inequalities that wreck havoc on anyone or thing that can be exploited and used up and spit out as seen fit by the established system’s logic. Wars and war preparation oppress and divert wealth to the economic system as it is. Competition for markets and resources feeds the expansion and the need to suppress other competitors. Finally, the pretenses of superiority and its rationality is quick to attack others who diverge from this systemic cohesion. Fear seems to be underlying driving the counter responses to those calling for a radical change in the system. Which, clearly, is goes much further than imagined most establishment politics, left or right. A fear that keeps people from the essence of reason, substituting their own limited rationality based upon what they presuppose.

This is good article about how Europe fell for the green scam and how it’s never gonna happen.
Who can disagree with the facts of this analysis? However, in using pejoratives such as ‘Greenies’ are we to totally dismiss any notion of a climate crisis? Indeed, the current push to so-called renewables is clearly not thought through as the astute author of this article makes abundantly clear. But is the “obvious” corollary of this argument that there is no climate crisis whatsoever, and that therefore nothing needs to be done? Logically this is a fallacy, but I feel that it is more than just that. Judging by the comments on this page, my view is quite in the minority.
Disappointing that a blog dedicated to revealing truth in one area metastases to promote this kind of low quality diatribe in another.
It’s clear that ‘renewables’ are not going to power our current levels of consumption once fossil fuels become too expensive (ie consume too much energy to extract and process). And yes they are intermittent and the energy harvesting equipment is not even properly recyclable.
So the answer is both simple and unpalatable for many – we need to consume less, ratcheting down to the point where humanity as a whole consumes no more than the earth can provide.
Many thoughtful analysts try to explain the highly interconnected complex system which we utterly rely on to provision and support us. For example https://www.resilience.org/, https://www.thegreatsimplification.com/, http://surplusenergyeconomics.wordpress.com/.
Childish denial of climate change and resource limits won’t change the laws of physics or physical reality. Calling people ‘greenies’ or ‘doomers’ is just playgound insults. Rather than trading insults, it would be more useful to exchange ideas about how to work within the envelope of reality.
Either we all face facts and try to do something to mitigate the multiple converging crises caused by our frenzied rush to consume all of earth’s resources at the fastest pace, or we accept the consequences.
Relating all this back to the main topic of this blog – one motivating factor for the USA’s provocation of Russia is the latter’s huge natural resources. The USA’s hyper-consumptive society, addicted to guzzling the earth’s resources, somehow must command them at low prices. That’s not the full explanation for the hijacking of Ukraine as a tool to destabilise Russia, but it seems likely to be a major long-term factor.
So, you don’t believe in science? Bob provided facts, not opinion. Argue the facts.
Larry, the facts referenced in Bob’s article are not in dispute. I view Michaux’s studies as high quality and credible. The vision of our current economy powered wholly by renewable energy sources is a fantasy. Nate Hagens sums it up well: “renewable energy can possibly power a civilization, but not this civilization”.
My unease is:
1. The essay is a political polemic that seeks to polarize opinions rather than seek practical solutions.
2. Continuing to burn fossil fuels at current rates is not a solution to any problem, just a delaying tactic until we are overwhelmed by its consequences.
Net-zero is demonized as if it’s an arbitrary political choice. It’s actually a future physical reality, which will happen whether we plan it or not. I believe in the science. A complex civilization will not survive the shock of more than 3C warming this century – too much too fast. If that doesn’t get us then depletion certainly will. We’re not drilling in the furthest reaches of the planet because there are lots of easy cheap hydrocarbons left. EROI has been relentlessly declining for decades.
The real political choice is whether we wish to maintain sufficient stability to preserve the best parts of our civilization while moving back into balance with the natural and physical world. Now that’s a debate worth having.
I like your blog because it seeks to honestly understand the bizarre conflict which the West has brewed up with Russia, and its respectful tone. Bob’s article doesn’t resonate with either principle IMO.
Yes the greens and their electrical cars are the future……
To get some Information about that just type
“lithium mining child labour” in the search field and click on pictures!
The greens are the malign cancer of earth and childish deniars of these these facts on how their electrical cars get their batteries and not only, are just not worth talking too.
Now we could also talk about how the electricity is produced for these green cars and so many other green illusions but its senseless I sense
Not the “resource shortage” scam again! Is this anything like Peak Oil?
“A recent study by the Geological Survey of Finland found that implementation would take centuries at the current extraction rates, and there need to be more proven reserves of base metals and rare earth. ”
Are “current extraction rates” engraved in stone?
More proven reserves? Reserves won’t be proven until someone looks for them.
This doesn’t apply if the resources aren’t there. OTOH, if we look at lithium, for example, they need a mere billion tons of lithium but there’s far more lithium in seawater.
I won’t more than mention that the resources are not squirted out of the universe like a pumpkin seed, never to be seen again. They can be recycled from landfills.
The people complaining about resource shortages have been wrong over and over again. Resource shortages, on those occasions when they occur, tend to be temporary.
Most important of all, why do today’s alleged conservatives sound like yesterday’s leftists? First, the whines about Big Pharma and now this!
So one should ask whether this “greenie” (globalist, WEF) is a plan or a ploy, and a recipe for disaster in disguise. It appears to not be planned out and doomed to failure. But as I have come to believe, failure is the goal because this means deindustrialization and ultimately population reduction. Most of European governments seem to be globalist captured and that includes the 5 eyes, and the USA.
FWIW,
L.
Having everyone reduce carbon emissions is like having everyone making steel in their backyard: it will not accomplish anything of value. Furthermore, if there already are X tons of carbon in the atmosphere, and the weather is already affected, adding less carbon will not affect the present weather one damn bit. But it sure as hell may affect your life in ways more deleterious than rising sea levels affect it.
A better way to go forward is the Chinese way: improve infrastructure so it makes life better and safer, and worry more about basic things like ‘where are we going to get enough water to grow enough food’. Right now, major food-growing regions of the planet are in drought conditions, while other areas are inundated and trying to get rid of water which then flows into the ocean making the sea levels rise: get the engineers involved to solve this simple problem which the Romans solved with aqueducts thousands of years ago.
