As far as I have been able to figure out from the bill, I think Zelensky and friends are getting something like $13B. The rest is going to US defense contractors, government bureaucrats, and to refill the CIAs depleted multi billion dollar slush fund. (No way to tell how much of that slush fund is ending up with Z and friends in addition to the open $13B allocation)
I’m not so sure that the Afghanistan withdrawal was a plan to help support Ukraine. Sounds plausible after the fact, but I’d be more convinced if they had transferred the equipment to Kiev via Poland instead of wasting it. At another time I’d have guessed it was wasted so it could be re-ordered to increase profits, but the MIC currently has more orders than it can fill.

Simple, in ancient Japan there was the notion of misunderstandings in which people died, but since it wasn’t war the opposing sides would still be scrupulously polite and correct with each other officially. They didn’t necessarily want total war because neither side had absolute dominance, so misunderstandings happened. Hence Ukraine is just a terrible misunderstanding, soldiers will die but its the job of soldiers to die. But since its not total warfare, normal trade and relations can continue, meanwhile both sides will try and jockey for advantage with the various uncommitted parties out there, as well as trying to disrupt relations between the enemy and its allies while trying to cultivate more allies at the same time.
Where Russia differs from ancient Japan is that ancient Japanese considered war to be a normal part of human existence and so if once side had the advantage that side would launch an all out all or nothing attack on the other side. The terrible misunderstandings were just if the opposing sides were balanced, and continued up until one side was able to gain a decisive advantage at which point total war broke out. Since just before 2020, some say earlier, Russia has had an outright advantage in both nuclear and conventional war (land) but is not using that advantage, preferring the misunderstandings game.
You will find that Russian defence minister Shoigu is an ardent admirer of ancient Japan, and has a large collection of ancient samurai swords, amongst other eastern bladed weaponry.

1. If they don’t sell to the Americans, someone else will just act as a proxy and sell to the Americans afterwards (this is also why sanctions are bs).
2. Russia in exchange for this trade can receive other benefits/commodities/resources/etc that it may need instead (look up comparative advantage).
3. Trade, by definition, is a win-win scenario when all sides voluntarily agree to an exchange (another reason why sanctions are bs — two even innocent individuals are prohibited from pursuing economic partnership).
I believe Zelensky already banished Kolomoisky from Ukraine and stole from him what Kolomoisky stole before him, and it was a lot.

The real question is how to defend America against the actual enemy, the DC swamp, without the country devolving into civil war. I say, guard our borders and leave the world to its own devices other than diplomatic negotiations regarding the international commons (space, the oceans, etc.).

Russia is hitting the smaller transformers that power the rail network among many other things. They could take out the entire Ukraine grid by hitting the larger transformers any time they choose and it would take fewer missiles to do so. The larger transformers are hard to source (ie. spares are few), they take significant time to manufacture, and are heavy and difficult to transport. So if/when they do this the ENTIRE Ukraine grid will be down for at least as long as they want it down.. I think the reason they haven’t done this is that would be difficult even for THEM to fix after a Ukraine surrender.

From what I have read those early units primarily went to areas that had US/Ukraine biolabs. That is how Russia was able to garner information on the labs in such detail. See their presentations to the UN for details, the presentations are also on the Russian govt website.

There was no such task to occupy the cities.
If the NATO countries had not intervened, everything would have been over by the beginning of summer.

I think I am somewhat misunderstood. We speak abroad in a shortened way of the “Yanks” or of the “USA”. But we do not mean the us-American people. We mean the us-American oligarchy or the US empire. It is a linguistic abbreviation that can be misunderstood.

Putin’s peace statements are intended for domestic and BRICS/global south consumption. He has to appear as if he is a responsible world leader always striving for peace and only choosing war while the West is ignoring his calls for peace. This paints the West as the culprit because by now people in the global south understand that it is America/EU/UK pulling the strings behind Ukraine.
As for the West being encouraged by lack of Russian ambition to “get in and level the place” – I think there is a difference between official narrative and internal knowledge. I think internally (in Western governments) people know what is going on and how badly they are position to fight a war. However, the collective west is cornered by its own narrative and does not have a way out (which is what Putin keeps offering). Putin understands this – ever seen a gambler double down and double down until the family is gone, the house is gone, the car is gone? That’s what the West is doing and Putin (and everyone else) knows that someone with nothing to lose is a desperate opponent. I think Vladimir Vladimirovich is desperately trying to prevent that scenario and create a situation where the west is enticed to stop rather than double down and become desperate. It is not an easy task, obviously. There are other considerations; Putin has always known that it would be much better to do business with everyone and co-exist than to be at war. If you think he is happy about exchanging USA/EU/UK for China as main trading partners, you are mistaken – you can trust the Chinese as much as you can trust anyone else – which is not say – not much.

The opportunity for saner insiders to influence the outcome becomes diminished. If Putin thinks the west is going to stop if just offered the right circumstances, then he is delusional.

Your model would massively costly to Russia’s military force, it’s not like the west will step back and say, “whoa he kicked the shit out of Ukraine so we better be careful.” He’s now learned that the west won’t do the right or smart thing. What else is there to do but give it enough rope to hang itself with? The only other option is kicking the shit out of the US directly and that’s a nuclear war.
I have a feeling Putin might be “taking things slowly” from a slightly different angle — the plain ol’ “buying time for Russia + BRICS” (i.e., military/geopolitically) against a for-now superior NATO which itself appears to be “slowly crumbling under its own corruption — even if the “buying time” part isn’t exactly 100% efficient for Russia in the meantime either (Russia + BRICS nations all have their own internal corruption as well).
And meanwhile NATO is also rather content with this strategy on its own side too — it gets to pin the Russians down into a defensive little corner for just a few billions $$ with its own elites getting a source of long-term kickbacks $$ in the meantime as well.
Hence, don’t take Putin’s “peace, negotiation, rules, etc” rhetoric too seriously either — both sides seem to have agreed (for different reasons) to keep Ukraine as a long-term military quagmire, and it seems will likely keep it as such as well…
Ukraine really matters not at all, Eric, even if the Russians were to take over the whole of the country, however unlikely it may seem today, Russia’s security would not improve one bit, if anything she would be surrounded even more by NATO than before the invasion began (Sweden, Finland the new members), the Americans, firmly installed in Poland and Romania, would continue causing troubles, the unwashed of Ukraine, the west of the country in particular, would be unlikely to co-operate with the Putin’s installed puppet regime, the West would refuse credit to re-build the country, the Chinese, who have considerable interest in Ukraine, would not be happy either.
The only way for Putin to gain from the invasion is to confront the Americans and their NATO allies head on, he doesn’t have to win the confrontation, a draw would do, a draw that would compel the Americans to move out of Eastern Europe, or preferably out of Europe altogether.
That confrontation cannot be fought with conventional weapons, Russia’s manufacture of tanks, planes and AK-47s cannot beat the combined hardware capacity of the 27 NATO members, where Russia does excel however is in missiles both in the defensive and offensive categories (the S-range, the hypersonic ranges).
It may well be that what appears as signs of Russia’s military weakness is in reality a trap, a bait to get the Americans to lob a limited number of the Tomahawk missiles into Russia to ostensibly finish the Ukrainian agony, a sort of a warning of an adult to a child, look what I can do.
That would furnish a legitimate basis for Russia to hit the West with the RS-28 Sarmats or other advanced rocketry equipped with conventional not nuclear warheads, it’s enough for Russia to prove that the missiles or at least the majority of them could breach the Western defence systems.
The question is how would the West react? Would the NATO members retaliate knowing that they cannot stop a second wave of Sarmats equipped possibly with nuclear warheads, or will they sue for peace?
When talking about warmongers, neocons/neolibs etc. I think we are talking about the Jewish diaspora who are probably doing the bidding of the jewish central bankers in the City of London. in the present circumstances they are the main trouble-makers. That’s my theory.

“As soon as we saw the attack, we immediately laid down our arms, took off our ammunition and raised our hands. The guys brought us, spent the night on the fireplace, gave us water, the doctor gave us hot tea to drink,” says the prisoner of war.
“Please don’t come here, find yourself in exactly the same situation,” shouty addresses his fellow countrymen with tears in his eyes.
He says he does not understand why Ukrainians should fight Russian citizens and concludes: “I have relatives in Russia, a brother in Voronezh. We are fraternal peoples, we are Slavs, you are the same people as we are.”

A hybrid information & propaganda war with fighting in Eastern Ukraine and strategic/tactical attacks on Ukraine’s electrical system and other targets with sporadic attacks in Russia proper does not constitute, your characterization of “global war” in my opinion.
My definition of a General European War is a kinetic, military war with military targets inside Nato territory and targets inside Russia, proper, involving Nato soldiers acting as a constituted force (not “street clothes” advisors, which certainly are in Ukraine doing advising +.) attacking Russian targets without respect to borders of countries.
Ukraine is not a sideshow in my opinion.
I guess it all depends on your definition of the terms you employ to describe the situation.

Yes, I agree that Americans are pretty parochial and certainly do not see themselves as an imperial power intent on ruling the world. As a kid in the late 1960’s I would read in the newspapers and magazines, of the future predictions as given by the Rand think tank and others. We are at where they predicted. It does not get any better at all for at least another five years. If we survive that long. Yes, there has been a long range plan, we were told about this plan but living the American dream was more important than understanding what we were being told, and by whom. I have never been a conspiracy theorist but when someone tells you that your future is going to hell in a hand basket and gives you the dates…I found it easy to connect the dots.
As an American and a veteran, I gave up on America years ago. When it became obvious that Americans as a whole were beyond redemption I lost hope. Her children are consumed by consumerism and ego, her politicians corrupt, and her God…no where to be found. If we manage to survive to the end of 2024 things will get better, but not much better. There is a very long path ahead for the American citizen, a path that will require the self seeking, narcissistic, debt ridden American to understand what is truly valuable.
I watch that show regulary, and would recommend it to anyone that can understand the language. Quality of guests does vary, but the good ones provide unique insight that I could not find anywhere else.

We need that Divine help. Before he died, I had dinner with one of the first cameramen to film the Ethiopian famine for ITV and BBC, he told me how people often thought those filming we’re a bit heartless, filming instead of helping.
He told me that once the body goes past a certain stage of starvation you may be alive but you cannot recover, you are too far gone and you can only die. He told how he still has sleepless nights and how none of the crew could sleep or eat without distress.
He opened a door to a house, inside were a child and it’s parents, all clearly dying of starvation, he filmed them, not as a spectacle, but so their lives would mean something, raise some sense of awareness and urgency to help. In the end the filming created a huge humanitarian push saving lives.
I like Larry’s blog because I see the same thing in his writing. He is the camera recording events he cannot change in the hope that somehow those whom he reaches will stand firm and do something, even if it’s just to tell others. So the importance of sharing what we believe is true is of genuine importance as it means all the suffering is not in vain and the momentum to halt the madness lives and may deliver.

Today the RF destroyed about 13 artillery systems from the UAF, and Dima says that he has never seen something like this before. Also today there happened no artillery strikes from the UAF on civilian targets in the city of Donetsk. My guess for explaining this Russian success is the deployment of the new tank T-14. This automatically answers enemy fire by means of its automatic firing system that even is able to release missiles instead of artillery munition. So seconds after the Ukrainians have used their artillery the T-14 tank blows up this system. The results are amazing. Soon the UAF cannot use their artillery anymore without taking into account a destructive counterattack from the Russian side.

As most here are aware, the US government and its counterparts in Europe are slitting their own wrists with current spending and Ukraine support policies. What cannot go on forever, will not go on forever. Eventually the bill comes due and the consequences are predictable. So, why do they continue on this path of self-destruction?
I think the answer may be found in the profligate spending sprees that all of these governments have been engaging in for the past few decades. The sovereign debt of these countries is now unmanageable in any scenario save raping & pillaging the resources of places like Ukraine and Russia. They need the revenue stream from this planned theft of resources in order to stave off financial collapse in their own countries. For these “leaders”, its do or die time. If Russia wins, the dominoes will start falling in Europe and finally end in collapse of the US economy as well.

This situation is not only true, but worrying. The fact that some elements of the PKK created disturbances in Paris leaves me a question: Is this a great American attempt, coming from its power system to create various disturbances in Europe in order to dismember the European Union?
It is always important to listen to confidence and try to understand where it comes from. So many players in this war, yet switch off the sound and the body language is fascinating.
From the training I had inbody language my take would be this.
The initial nervousness of the Western leaders at the commencement of the SMO gave way to surprise and incredulity and then genuine confidence and arrogance.
The body language of Russia’s leaders was a slight nervousness and surprised confusion that settled into grim wariness and determination. There is no over-confidence. Just acceptance of what is now inevitable.
Whether the genuine confidence of the West is merited who knows? It is too consistent across political leaders to be without genuine merit. They do not fear Russia. Probably because Russia, to date has given them no reason to fear them. It excuses their attacks, continues trade, shows no sign of wanting to directly confront them, when the West has made it clear this is not just what they want, but what they are doing.
I feel a huge amount of pity and empathy for Russia. They have no easy options and no certain outcomes, but they have plans and strength and I hope to God they can use them well and in good time to deal with what is coming.
The US and UK are killer regimes. They love the kill and taste of blood on their enemies, the money in their hands. And with Russia they have drawn and tasted blood and it is driving them to ecstasy. From biological, chemical, nuclear, financial and military weapons, the West has the means to murder at will and with the MSM and intelligence agencies it has the means to control their population and convince them white is black, man is woman, truth is a lie.
For my money I believe at some point the West will attempt a decapitation strike in Russia 2023/4. Drones have successfully entered 700miles into Russia and attacked bases killing military personnel. Twice. With zero consequences. Yes in a full in war Russia will try to neutralize US 4CISR capacity, but if the strike is successful it will be too late. And it looks like it will probably be too late because Russia is so reluctant to escalate, because escalation would be such a fking mess on all sides so that gives the West time to plan a decapitation strike and gather data on how best to do it.
I believe Russia’s relative inactivity right now is to build up weapon stocks, in particular drones.
The next strike cannot stop, so it needs to be a perfect attack as can be. Possibly timed with China taking on Taiwan, Iran on Syria and Serbia on Kosovo so it’s a question of when WW3 really starts. Let us not be impatient and enjoy this time before it does.
