Washington, you have a problem. News broke late today that a new batch of classified documents have hit the internet and the Biden Administration is scrambling to put a band aid on a sucking chest wound. (Note, the image above was from the previous release and is all over Twitter and Telegram.)
A new batch of classified documents that appear to detail American national security secrets from Ukraine to the Middle East to China surfaced on social media sites on Friday, alarming the Pentagon and adding turmoil to a situation that seemed to have caught the Biden administration off guard.
The scale of the leak — analysts say more than 100 documents may have been obtained — along with the sensitivity of the documents themselves, could be hugely damaging, officials said. A senior intelligence officials called the leak “a nightmare for the Five Eyes,” in a reference to the United States, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, the so-called Five Eyes nations that broadly share intelligence.
The latest documents were found on Twitter and other sites on Friday, a day after senior Biden administration officials said they were investigating a potential leak of classified Ukrainian war plans, include an assessment of Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
One slide, dated Feb. 23, is labeled “Secret/NoForn,” meaning it was not meant to be shared with foreign countries.Mick Mulroy, a former senior Pentagon official, said the leak of the classified documents represents “a significant breach in security” that could hinder Ukrainian military planning. “As many of these were pictures of documents, it appears that it was a deliberate leak done by someone that wished to damage the Ukraine, U.S., and NATO efforts,” he said.
Let me state up front what I believe — these documents are authentic and the leak probably did not originate from the NATO countries. Why? Because several are marked “NOFORN”, which means those documents with that marking are for U.S. eyes only. In other words, not to be shared with foreigners, such as the UK, France, Germany and, especially, Ukraine. Here is one example of a NOFORN document:

Look at the section in the lower left hand quadrant. The date of this document is 1 March 2023. It provides a list of the allied countries that are providing training to Ukrainian forces on a variety of weapons systems and other military skills. I was surprised to learn that Germany is doing the bulk of the training, according to this document.
Some have speculated that this is a deliberate leak by the U.S. to “confuse” the Russians. Sorry kids, that is nonsense. The information revealed in these documents is not going to be accepted at face value by Russian intelligence analysts. They will contrast and compare with their own robust stores of intelligence in order to corroborate or flag as disinformation. I am confident that the Russian General Staff is producing briefing reports like this for its field generals. The Russians are not sitting passively waiting for some drips and drabs of U.S. intelligence.
Others believe that Russian intelligence leaked this information to sow distrust in allied ranks. I discount that explanation as well but that does not mean it is a viable possibility. If Russia did this then it is risking exposing that it has an asset or assets in the U.S. ranks. Producing such information would bring heat down on suspected perpetrators and could expose U.S. military personnel spying for Russia. What is the incentive for Russia to raise a warning flag to attract that kind of attention from the United States?
One possible motive, get U.S. counter intelligence personnel to chase their tails and conduct investigations that will disrupt U.S. military planning and support to Ukraine. Possible, but turn this around. If the United States or one of the NATO countries had assets inside the Russian General Staff, would you counsel the West to release SECRET and TOP SECRET Russian military intelligence on social media in order to try to create chaos on their side? Or, would you keep that info close hold and know that you were reading the Russian playbook and could potentially counter their moves without exposing your assets? What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
I initially was inclined to believe that this leak may have originated with one of the NATO partners. But then I saw that there are TOP SECRET and NOFORN documents. That makes it extremely unlikely that any of the NATO partners had access to this trove of documents.
The key issue is who had access? The evidence points at someone in the U.S. military or intelligence community. It is important to understand that SECRET documents are not posted on TOP SECRET systems. TS material is on a separate platform. The most likely scenario (but not the only one) is that a person or persons printed these documents in one of the U.S. classified facilities and removed them surreptitiously. What remains to be determined is whether the guilty party or parties are spying for the Russians or are acting on their own volition. Your guess is as good as mine.
The folks in Moscow are not terribly excited about this. Maybe they are great actors or maybe they realize that the publication of this material does not change what the Russian military needs to do on the battlefield.
Moscow is already aware that the US and NATO are involved in the Ukraine conflict, President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman told CNN on Friday. Dmitry Peskov was responding to a question about American military documents that had appeared online.
“We don’t have the slightest doubt about direct or indirect involvement of the US and NATO in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” the spokesman explained.
“This level of involvement is rising gradually,” he added. “We keep our eye on this process. Well, of course, it makes the whole story more complicated, but it cannot influence the final outcome of the special operation.”
https://t.me/DonbassDevushka/53406
I am struck by the fact that none of the documents released that I have seen (and I have only seen less than 5% of the material) provide any meaningful insight about what the United States and NATO understand about Russian capabilities. The plans and activities described in these documents appear to ignore the kind of robust military capabilities that Russia can bring to bear to counter the U.S./NATO plans for Ukraine.
Remember last October? The Ukrainians tried to cross the Dnieper River and attack the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The 600 man force was stopped by the Russians, with at least 90 KIA, according to a report published today in the UK Times:

The effect of this leak is simple — it is going to create chaos in the U.S. task force assigned the mission to support the war in Ukraine. Finding and punishing those responsible will not alter the detrimental effect on the U.S. effort. I suspect the Russians are grabbing bags of popcorn to enjoy the ensuing shit show.
i’ve been eating popcorn since last may? and the switch by the Russians to phase 2.
This “intelligence leak” looks like the bus schedule for Seattle.
Minor correction:
I discount that explanation as well but that does not mean it is not a viable possibility.
If they were real why would not the US simply brush it off as Russian/China propaganda instead of admitting it was a leak by opening an investigation? I believe it is all psyops justs as the west running out of weapons as it has been way too much BS on this subject and like Goring and Goebbels if you repeat something enough times the public will take it hook, line and sinker like those weapons of mass destruction, Syria gassed its own, A CIA assets sitting in a cave planned or coordinated 911, covid is a pandemic, vax are harmless, social distancing is good for people especially children, etc, etc, etc.
I think it’s really interesting about how, when people get really annoyed with their country’s so-called foreign policy, it’s association in all ways with Nazi Germany keeps popping up. Now, if that’s not a conspiracy . . . . Oh, wait.
People believing in “manifest destiny” and “indispencible nation” should not be offended with comparisons with a man, who told exactly same things to German people almost a century ago.
I am not offended. I completely agree. It’s Lebensraum all over again. Except this time this stuff is being sold by “that detestable power” who lacks all those wonderful toys and sexy uniforms that Nazi Germany had. Nazi Germany made this shit look good. I look at the whole raw deal today and think: “You’re going to do World War III looking like that?”
Well, we perhaps still can count on Nips. Loyally paladining to DC they *will* make Muricans look slick!

Build, Back, Better…the basic concept was presented in Book 1 of Mein Kampf. Book 2 had other ideas.
Is it “Spy vs. Spy”, or “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”?
Many a pant leg has been soiled as the finger pointing begins.
Popcorn and vodka shots appears to be in order.
Barkeep, line em up!
Great Cold War novel by Carré. And great movie with Gary Oldman! And BBC television adaptation (1979). With great, great Sir Alec Guinness on you tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq61jstTApk
I love how the BBC blocked this from viewing in the UK, perfectly acceptable for the rest of the world to watch, but for those that actually pay their license fees and have them turn up at your door with the Police if you refuse them entry into your home? Nope sorry you can’t see this, and people wonder why I haven’t owned a TV in twenty years?
Scumbags to the last!
The 16 years I was in the UK I never bought a TV opeator license for my 12″ BLACK -WHITE TV. Once you buy a licence you are entered into the system. They even tried to licence car radios.
You can bet your ass that this would not be on BBC or other mainstream propaganda outlets if it was an unauthorized leak.
Try this at home sometime.
Just type ‘bakhmut’ in your search bar from time to time and see all the consent manufacturing bullshit that comes up. Most of it from the emotional spectrum because facts and fiction can be nasty and come back to bite you when they collide.
It’s like you’ve gone through that twilight zone mirror and entered an alternate universe.
Thanks for the link! Excellent.
The BBC movie is shocking and very sad it makes me realize what we’ve lost. The average IQ must have dropped 50 points since this movie was made. Every person in every scene was white it looks likes an alien universe. Filmed today half the action characters would be females with the key one blakk. The whole plot dumbed down and simplified.
Yeah, somebody needs to tell Putin to stop relieving himself on Brandon’s leg. Poor Brandon, the demented old codger doesn’t know what everybody is laughing about.
Nor does his traitor wife…
“Somebody wants to hit us in our soft underbelly, the petrodollar, and I have no idea what to do.”
PS: I didn’t think that up myself. I’m frankly too demented.
I thought Hunter had this all figured out anyway.
Oh, well. Now you’re getting nasty. [Good on you.]
More like Laurel and Hardy.
Maybe it’s part of a strategy to build a narrative for backing out of Ukraine. “Top Secret” gets stamped on a lot of stuff, but was the information really that sensitive? As you point out Larry, nothing there about what the US/NATO knows about key Russian intelligence.
It seems fishy to me. If it showed NATO personnel/resources inside Ukraine, or dirt on the bio labs, maybe it would be something. As it is, maybe we’ll see a pull back of support “until security leaks” are fixed, and by then it’ll be over, Ukraine loses, and the excuse is traitors (that will never be found) inside the US military.
I am sure by now they know it’s a lost cause and they want some kind of excuse to dodge any responsibility to try to keep what’s left of their reputation intact. Juvenile, sure, but so is everything else they’re doing. I’d be surprised if we started seeing some kind of adult behaviour from that bunch.
No. The docs are authentic. The classification markings tell the story.
Assange up his ole tricks again (from prison)?
Or, it woz the chineses wot dunnit.
Is it impossible to falsify those markings? Those of us that have a more cynical jaded bent may regard this as more spectacle, perfect for the CIA news networks to blather on about for a few days while the economy continues to tank.
Is it impossible to falsify those markings?</i?
I don't know. I'll run it through my handy dandy master detective online toolkit and see what I can find.
Cheers big ears!
Of course it is. Take the list of those marks and flip half of them.
Oh, you don’t have the list? Bad luck then. *Everything* that your human eye can see and that it can not see, can be a watermark, or not.
Steganography is a discipline centuries old… Google around for example for programs to hide texts in natural photo noise. Try to compare the photos and erase the message without learning how exactly was it coded in there.
Learn how Ultra-Wide-Band radio version 1 was supposed to operate on physical level. They tried to overtake Wi-Fi and failed, but the journey was daring.
Learn over-horizon radars of USSR and USA worked, how they tried to make meaningful Doppler responses withoth having any narrow scanning ray/axis.
In the end, “remove the watermark” is the same as “remove the spy” – if the spy came to you and told you he was a spy – it is easy. Otherwise you never can be sure you spotted all of them.
The only thing missing with this latest “intelligence leak” are “the 27 eight-by-ten color glossy pictures, with the circles and arrows, and a paragraph on the back of each one, explaining what each one was, to be used as evidence against us.”

Farce, baby.
Arlo appreciates the irony in the use of his lyrics here…
I have never been a spy but,It seems to me if these are in fact top secret wouldn’t they have a document count number on them,or did they just print a shit load of them?
You’ve never held a security clearance, which is why you are raising this question. They do not have a “document” number. They are now electronic. Do you understand?
Why was it made public rather than just slipped covertly to the Russians?
As it was marked NOFORN there’s every chance that a Monica Mossad saw it and decided to pass it on to Netanyahu.
I’m shure he wants to kick the Biden administration after the Colorful demonstrations in Israel to end Netanyahu´s Fascist power grab against the Israeli Constitution.
And how about Biden´s Sanctions” resulting in the unification of Muslims, which haven’t been united toward Israel since 9/11.
Whoever did has a strong belief they won’t get caught.
Israel.
I’ll bet a disgruntled employee at Raytheon leaked it all.
Ever since Kennedy, they’ve been banned from adding a NOMIC label for fear of insulting the Irish.
So the micseymantlemousecateers get to see it all.
The classification markings do nothing to eliminate the possibility that this is deliberate, and actually support the idea that it is deliberate. There are others pointing out the obvious errors/inconsistencies in the documents that make them suspect:
https://www.rt.com/russia/574380-leaked-secret-plan-counteroffensive/
It looks more and more like these were manufactured to appear as authentic, and in a way may be, but knowingly not real representations of anything on the ground. Isn’t that something the intelligence community might do to try and sow some confusion?
If these are real, genuine intelligence, then that’s a bit scary, as various other sites have pointed out flagrant flaws.
You don’t know what you are talking about. I have it confirmed that these are genuine. You want to believe in bullshit go ahead. Just remember, I told you so.
I can accept that these are genuine. And, as I said, if they are genuine, it seems like shoddy intelligence, does it not? It’s been pointed out that much of the information contained in the documents can be googled up on the net. It seems odd for documents labelled “top secret.” What am I missing?
Not every document is labeled Top Secret. These docs were published in a summary report that carried the overall classification of TS but did contain specific documents classified as SECRET/NOFORN and SECRET, among others.
Larry, be careful man…lest they shut you down.
Russia knows more about what’s going on in Ukraine than the US! Remember when Nuland’s phone call leaked before the coup? As for Larry’s source a long time ago Alastair Crooke also wrote that there were already people in the Deep State, or in the US establishment, whichever you prefer against Biden! Who thought Biden was a danger to the US. Including the CIA since the Sy Hersh report. My guess is a Trump connection! Thanks for the indictment!
I’m not a particular fan of Trump, but if I was a US American that had voted for him, twice, I’d be royally pissed off that he wasn’t given a fair go. It may be that none of them truly are but with the follow-on from 6jan and the indictment I’d probably think it time to take action of some sort, doubly so with all the ‘diversity’ issues affecting the defence services.
I agree with everything! And I can’t dissociate the two facts. Like the rise of QAnon! But in the US they still believe in coincidences. Like an anti-system billionaire! And the negative vote is dangerous in all countries. As in Ukraine, they elected the clown to not elect Poroshenko! Even Russians, despite the majority not being able to vote.
And in the US a lot of good people also vote for Trump. Missing industrial capitalism because they think a billionaire is against financial capitalism. That, as a rule, the principle is associated with Reagan. Partly rightly so. It privatized many state functions that it should not have privatized. But the real executioner of America that half of America misses was Clinton. A real crook like Biden! With the deregulation of the financial markets and mixing investment banking with commercial banking, he handed the country over to high finance. That relocated the entire industry to Asia in search of cheap labor. After the Clintons, only waiters in the White House. What do Americans feel? That Washington is under occupation. And it’s not Russian!
I received a message on a WhatsApp group which seems appropriate in the context of the Ukraine war
“☝️❗️🇻🇳🇺🇸50 years ago, on March 29, 1973, American troops, defeated, evacuated Saigon. The war in Vietnam lasted 11 years and claimed about 2 million civilian lives, more than a million Vietnamese military personnel, and about 60,000 U.S. soldiers. Seven million tons of bombs and 80 million liters of poisons were dropped on Vietnam. But that’s not what I wanted to write about. The photo is of a lighter from the American soldiers of the Vietnam War. The inscription reads, “We the unwilling, led by the unqualified to kill the unfortunate, die for the ungrateful.” Perhaps these words capture well the essence of that war through the eyes of a soldier. The essence of many wars.”
Especially the Ukraine war from the point of view of the forcibly drafted untrained Ukrainians.
“We the unwilling,
led by the unqualified
to kill the unfortunate,
die for the ungrateful.”
Words describing the sad and eternal truth.
An “eternal truth”? Really?
Here`s a viable alternative, possibly more eternal truth:
“War is over
If you want it.
War is over now.”
– John Lennon/Yoko Ono, December 1971.
Ni de vaina es cierto.
Or:
He’s the universal soldier and he
really is to blame
His orders come from far away no more
They come from him, and you, and me
and brothers can’t you see
this is not the way we put an end to war
Buffy Sainte Marie.
Maybe comrade XI gave them to Macron yesterday after the very same Macron understood he would not change (of course) Xi support for Russia (who knows the ‘balloons maybe’) ?
Or even worse MBS or why not Tel Aviv were russian assets in the intel/army are in force eventhough also loyal to Israel some have both loyalties?
Who knows, could be the source of the docs:
https://gab.com/NeonRevolt/posts/110160381781255341
No. Bullshit.
Cui bono? Information and disinformation are normal weapons of war, but this lot is almost too good to be believed. We know it’s not Wikileaks, but the question is why it was made public rather than just slipped covertly to the Russians with a note saying: You’re welcome.
That to me is a pointer. Even though it’s marked NOFORN there’s every chance someone saw it on a US staffer’s desk at NATO HQ in Brussels and decided to pass it on. But again, why go public? My guess, for what it’s worth (nothing) is that someone wants to put the boot into the Biden administration and the neocons in particular. It’s designed to cause as much embarrassment to not just the US military but its relations with all the parties lined up against Russia.
Regardless of the value to the Russians (questionable), it makes the US look as though it can’t manage its own house and some of the information might well be things that countries like Germany would rather keep under the covers (like how deeply involved they are in training the Ukrainian military) or how much it’s costing France in money and weapons.
Take this from the Slavyangrad Telegram channel today: “Yellow vests” oppose the supply of weapons to Ukraine, the leader of the movement said during his interview. He noted that such a decision by the authorities of the country has its price.
“When Macron sends weapons or equipment, the French society, which is in deep crisis, does not understand why the president increases spending on the army and sends such military assistance to Ukraine,” said Thierry-Paul Valette. He also stressed that sanctions against Russia harm Europe.
Whoever did it, it seems to me they have a very deep grudge against what NATO is doing. They must also have a pretty strong belief they won’t get caught. That’s my guess. I look forward to reading what others have to say in the comments.
Dude,
That’s not how it works. No one is going to print off all of these “briefings” and then leave it on a desk in a SCIF. Nice try though.
Larry, I worked frequently in SCFs and several times over in the CIA building. This stuff was only classified as Secret so many, including myself, consider it not very sensitive so it gets less care. These documents very clearly came out of a manilla folder from a secure safe inside a particular SCF. The folds show it to fit in a letter sized folder. It is also obvious they were captured with a camera and probably a cell phone. Equally obvious it was done in a hurry, probably over lunch as evidenced by not taking a few seconds to smooth out the briefing charts. This all indicates a general lack of concern for security and procedures which happens when everything gets over classified and the procedures get in the way of doing work so become lax. Familiarity breeds contempt.
The motivation is probably someone concerned about impending nuclear war and this might be a meager attempt to try and intercede.
even if it was left in a scif it would have to be covered with a black cloth – which as everyone knows is impenetrable : )
black cloth also erases the enemy’s memory and past knowledge of secret locations. amazing stuff…
of course – most obvious source is Joe’s garage next to the corvette – but i think that was locked so dont know…
“Cui bono?”
Your speculations are undermined by using the tool of spectating useful fools – Cui bono.
” I look forward to reading what others have to say in the comments.”
Wise interpretations of “analyses” are not functions of quantity, but of quality, since reliance on quantity encourages dissipation of agency and focus through iteration.
Enjoy your journey.
BTW, Simplicius The Thinker does a deep dive on the topic in an article posted a short time ago: https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/major-nato-plans-for-ukraine-leaked
He does a good job on the order of battle but does not understand the implications of the classifications markings on the docs.
LJ , theres been many helicopter crashes , in US and in Japan .. do you think the PTB hide covert casualties in ukraine behind these crashes ?
On the subject of the produced Top Secret material, who sends sizeable print jobs in a TS SCIF? A tad risky, methinks.
No. Easy to do.
maybe some one sent it to staples to be printed for the meeting.
This interesting article was posted on theconservativetreehouse in the last 15-30 mins:
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2023/04/08/about-that-new-york-times-story-concerning-the-online-leak-of-u-s-military-and-geopolitical-intentions/#more-245306
“By now people are familiar with a New York Times (original source) story of a leak of sensitive classified information regarding U.S. operations in Ukraine and other geopolitical efforts. The New York Times was the first with the story, as shared with them by “senior Biden administration officials.”
And,
“…As noted by Gonzalo Lira, “François Hollande, former president of France, confirms that the 2014 coup d’etat in Ukraine was part of a long-term plan to have Ukraine fight a proxy war against Russia. The Americans have been preparing this war since the Obama administration—it is now confirmed beyond doubt.”
The admission by Hollande aligns with every element of the U.S. effort to use Russia as a bad guy, including the use of Russia against Donald J Trump. A proxy war against Russia was in the works going all the way back to the Euromaidan efforts, the color revolution in Ukraine, as constructed by the U.S. State Department, and facilitated by U.S. allies in Europe.
This is the most explosive dose of geopolitical sunlight in years, and obviously these statements by Hollande were a serious issue for the White House and U.S. Intelligence Community. Hollande was tricked by two Russian pranksters into spilling the real story about Ukraine and U.S. involvement therein.
Now do you see the need? The Hollande admission is an urgent problem…”
Sundance is talking out of his ass. Does not have a clue.
Larry:
On a practical matter, couldn’t the U.S. Government just pay themselves and their military suppliers whatever amount of money they desire, and dispense with kinetic war ?
It seems such a foolish waste of lives and resources, if the ultimate goal is to enrich the MIC.
A sensible suggestion, but they need the blood and fire to keep the taxpayers entertained.
Ah, thanks, I wanted to see what your take on it was. Usually his articles are pretty good, but once in awhile, I’m not sure.
That may be, but I am pretty confident I know who the leaker of this document is. After blowing up a picture from Joe Biden’s garage and looking at the box of classified documents beside his corvette, I am fairly confident I saw this document there! So at least we know here the leak came from. Sorry, can’t help you with the motive because I’m fairly certain Joe already forgot all about it!
Seems not everyone in the U.S. gov’t is onboard with the globalist ZioNaziCon death cult agenda
Whoever it is, these leaks prove mighty courage and determination from an individual to help foil the evil ongoing projects.
His/her actions are providing a huge encouragement to all and everyone worldwide who are committed to avert WWIII.
Thank you Larry for your confirmation that you believe these leaks to be authentic.
You took the words out of my mouth. I don’t know about others, but it brings a smile to my face and peace to my mind to think that there may be an anonymous, extremely brave patriot deep inside the American government’s secrecy establishment. (Doesn’t this thought buttress Larry’s argument in favor of openness and his condemnation of arresting “spies” like Julian Assange and the WSJ reporter?)
https://sonar21.com/a-pox-on-pax-americana/ Hitler piece.
A tiger not only has striped fur, it has striped skin too. Who called his Chinese equal when President Trump was in office and said “I’ll let you know if we are going to attack?”
Mike:
That is a compelling idea. Inside today’s disloyal, confused U.S. Military there must be thousands who see the end game for these Evil Clowns. I mean disloyal to this Administration, not the country. Every military member with family and friends can see WWII and the end of the USA. A hair-trigger, addled Ice Cream Cone at the helm and crazed munchkins filling out his cue cards.
Anyone remember Anwar Sadat ?
The article talks about that in this supposed leaks there is information related to China. People who have talked about this particular subject have centered on the information related to the Ukraine conflict. What do they say about China?
It doesn’t require military personnel to think this way, majority of the American citizens feel contempt for these Evil Clowns, this corrupt & lying Biden Admin, DeepState, MSM, all the dysfunctional 3-letter agencies, etc… When the voting & courts are corrupt, how do we evict the whole lot?
Strong involvement of Germany obviously means Ramstein. The US does as they please there, that is well known, so no surprise. Concerning the leaks I have become reluctant to even consider these shiny, glittery, juicy, meaty things that are obviously- bait.
Russian web sites are also enjoying the leak, so much for the administration trying to cap it.
https://www.kp.ru/daily/27488.5/4745079/
The one thing we understand for sure is that the US military and security systems under the Woke administration of Joe Biden, is not like what it used to be in the old days. There are now weirdoes working all over the place in US military-security establishments. The Biden team is backed by an army of gays, lesbians, trans…who think of themselves as being people with very high IQ’s, well above average. They are nowadays working for the Biden’s Army. Traditionally trained personnel who understood what was going on around the world are either too old, quit or fired. Showing up of these so-called secret documents which the Russians and their allies are already very familiar with and likely know even more, doesn’t change anything.
That is exactly what is happening in the private sector also.
Chicago Bob:
The Leeches are blissfully unaware their Host has flicked them off.
And the Fed can’t continue to print and borrow against bogus assets and inflated/depreciated income.
The Economy is millions of Government/Service Chinese Laundries, producing zip, demanding more.
You mean all the other sectors from financial to hospitality, steel making , , food chains and restaurants etc.? As if all of a sudden a real gender revolution happening in the west? What a nice way of diverting people’s attention away from figuring out who’s fleecing them.
we can’t really conclude one way or the other about authenticity based on what we imagine. Whatever we rmight imagine points to authenticity, a deceiver can imagine too.
The whole situation has overtones of security theatre .. but that’s just my imagination.
Obviously professionals won’t be suckered .. maybe it was merely for public consumption. Who knows?
Valid or not, maybe it’s irrelevant.
I agree – these are authentic.
People are saying that the data has been tampered with. If so, it would be by Americans, for political reasons. If the true number of Ukrainian KIA/ MIA was included, it would make it much harder to justify any further involvement. So they ‘adjust’ the number to ~70,000.
Others are trying to paint this as some form of ‘clever’ tactic by Biden & Co to get ahead of eventual defeat etc. Nope. Not buying that. They are simply too stupid and incompetent to carry off anything like that.
Can’t prove it but I think this may be a message (likely from Russia and/or China) to the US – we are inside not just The Pentagon, but also the 5 Eyes Top Secret database – we have it all, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Actually I don’t think these documents were even printed in America. If my theory is correct (outside nation state has access) it would be easy for someone outside the US to print them, fold them etc and then post them to 4Chan.
The panic we are seeing from the Biden clownshow is consistent with this scenario.
If true, the words ‘disaster’ and ‘debacle’ don’t do the situation justice. Let’s see what happens.
This is not top secret or secret every man and his dog knows who is supplying and equipping, the time line contradicts the projected muddy conditions, and why are the scouring the world for ammo, maybe the will use cans full of chopped tomatoes as Zelensky’s wife commented on an interview.
Looks like a MI6 opp its meets all their criteria to fool the Brits LOL
Big breaths everyone.
If it comes out of the New YorkTimes. It’s gotta be a turd.
Same same for EU politicians and Global wannabes who get tricked by Russian pranksters it’s all “Yarda yarda, “ you know the drill.
It’s getting boring. Russia adjusts the meat grinder. $ Billions in and $billions back out to payola USA.
America has entered the S bend of history. US banks are falling like hookers knickers or Mr Pelosi’s shorts.
This has turned into a total shit show. At least the Brits keep it hidden from the neighbours for 50years. No way in hell can the Ukrainian disaster be squeezed under an Afghan carpet.
Forget Taiwan the next war will be against Canada. Whoop some ass.
Second post about this (sorry) – notice that ALL the US regime media aka FakeNews , starting with the NYT, immediately reported this as a ‘leak’?
None seem to have considered that it have been a HACK – which is an entirely plausible scenario.
Gee, I wonder why? Important to remember that these regime outlets are experts in misdirection/ distraction.
Just my opinion, but they’ve been instructed to focus relentlessly on a ‘leak’ narrative, to distract from the truth – that it’s the worst hack in US history, and the Pentagon no longer has control of it’s most sensitive secrets.
Since Larry excludes an allied country, may I ask Larry if consider a Pentagon or DOD official a traitor if were the case? Fed up of Biden Administracion! Like the sources of Sy Hersh?
Yesterday, I read the Bureaucratese in the docs and concluded they were probably genuine.
Larry says they are genuine, so they are genuine.
Is there division in the US military regarding the ever increasing “support” for Ukraine? And/or the wisdom of launching an offensive at this time?
In a comment yesterday, I translated the Bureaucratese and evaluated the caveats regarding equipment deliveries in the document in the photo above this post:
“From the BLUF:
“Equipment Delivery times will impact training and readiness in order to meet this deadline.”
Translated from Bureaucratese:
Use of the word “will” rather than “may” means that equipment deliveries WILL be later than needed AND that training and readiness WILL be inadequate.
Therefore, this sentence may be written in Plain English as:
Equipment deliveries will be too late to ensure full training and readiness before the deadline.
……..
If this offensive kicks off in May, the AFU will be neither fully trained nor ready.”
In summary, if this report is genuine, and the information in it is correct, then if the Ukrainian offensive kicks off in early May on schedule, they will be under-trained and under-equipped, and will shatter and be slaughtered when they impact Russian defences.
Nobody else seems to have commented on this, but to me, it is plain as day to anyone who understands how to read reports presented to senior/executive management in environments where only positive reporting is permitted.
In such cases, and most especially when the truth about the situation is known to be most extremely unwelcome to senior/executive management, it is a very high priority for report writers, who typically have an excellent and accurate understanding of the true situation, to ensure that afterwards, when everything has turned to sh!t, they cannot be accused of providing untrue or inaccurate information or status assessments.
To do this, report writers include caveats very carefully worded (“word-smithed”) in such a way that they appear to be positive to the unwary reader. But careful attention to precise meanings of the words used and parsing if the sentences reveals an only slightly disguised truth.
Correct interpretation of the caveats in such documents is vitally important, but sen./exec.mgmt rarely do this, preferring to take at face value docs which superficially appear to support their preferred course of action.
My take from this is therefore:
Some in the US military have concluded the Ukrainians cannot be made ready in time, that the upcoming counter-offensive will be an unmitigated slaughter and it should not be attempted. This leak is therefore not aid to an enemy, but an attempt to avert certain disaster.
There has been historically a solid connection between homosexuals of all stripes and espionage. They tend to betray their own country.
Here is a BBC article:
The era when gay spies were feared
(a woke headline, yet a good historical background nonetheless.)

And what is the Grandpa administration if not a rainbow colored clown bus, where enthusiasm is misstook for talent.
1) scapegoat for a delusional counteroffensive’s target, 2) try to avoid a direct confrontation bw nucleare powerful armies, 3) last me(a)ssage to elen-sky to phone a right call.
What’s your take, Larry? This is your field. You are arguing these are genuine leaks. Is this another Private Manning whose conscience has had enough, or is there a broader rebellion brewing among the ranks of the deep state?
Well, could it possibly went some what like this:
We have some guy(let’s call him Dr. Evil), who wants some data for himself. Not specifically those docs, but all docs he wants. So he go Then and find himself Mr. X, who have access to the Pentagon files. And Mr. X wants money. So it goes, Dr. Evil makes an order, Mr. X later fulfilles it.
And then comes some third party, who bought specifically those documents from Dr. Evil. But where our guys are professionals, this wannabe is not. And he makes a mistake. He forgots these documents somewhere for example, where they can be photographed. Or tells the content to someone.
The point i want to make is: from the point of view this third party guy, it doesn’t matter if he burned Mr. X cover or not. It is not his problem.
I’m amazed at the strength of your argument in favor of Gershkovich, Larry. Let’s face it: if not for these leaks, your argument would have been washy musings of a former CIA guy. But now that these leaks are hitting right after Gershkovich your argument is getting seared in. 🙂 I was born in the eighties so all I know is decay, but maybe USA really was a *respected* superpower before my time, if it’s government was staffed to the brim by people like you. 🙂
“NEW LEAKS OF U.S./NATO MILITARY INTELLIGENCE DOCUMENTS ALARMS WASHINGTON”
Yeah, but who is doing the leaking? Our famously free press? It no longer exists. The Powers That Be (PTB) fixed that.
It amazes me how transfixed some people are about things that no longer exist. “Journalists?” “A Free Press?” “Democracy?” “Free and fair elections?” “The Constitution?” “The Bill of Rights?” “A Civilian Military?” When was the last time an entrenched professional political class were “civilians?”
My personal favorite is “Democracy.” We are defending the world for something that does not exist. We are making the world safe for something that does not exist. Anywhere. Nobody has a democracy. What we have are some democratic principles that can easily be revoked.
My customary response to these intel leaks is just to flip the thing on its head and see what falls out of its pockets. That way some kind of leveling has taken place.
Somebody could actually be sharing real military secrets with the Soviets (Oops. Sorry. The Russians) and who would believe them? And would it matter? A few hundred 25-megaton nuclear warheads dropped on “the enemy” would cut right through this crap in a heartbeat.
Dear Don Larry.
We Catholics have a saying: Satan will lie to you with the truth.
Like the lines in Blake’s poem, Auguries of Innocence:
“A truth that’s told with bad intent
Beats all the lies you can invent.”
Not sure if that applies here. I personally think someone in the deep state has had enough of Ukraine and is spilling the beans.
Dear Don Larry.
We Catholics have a saying: Satan will lie to you with the truth.
You Catholics are the Satan behind the thousand year old crusade towards Orhtodox Cristianity. You created those that are burning churches as we speak.
Jews and schismatics are burning the Orhtodox churches
Banderites are Uniats. They are under Pope. This whole mess have been going on for centuries, just like the one in the Balkans.
Thanks, Larry
Can this be used as an excuse to cancel the super-duper-mega offensive everyone have been waiting for? In Ukrainan “culture” they are always victorious, unless they are betrayed (peremoga or zrada, or something like that). They can also blame the loss of Bakhmut on this, and everything else. The Greenman can not let an excuse go to waste.
Is this possibly a pretext to censor Musk and/or other social media platforms? Nothing gets Americans onboard toward accepting further suppression of civil rights like issues of ‘national security’
MUSK is one more number of the elite.
The USA spent 20,000 million dollars to send a man to the moon (today adjusted for inflation it would be about 4 times more or less) and MUSK invested 40,000 million dollars in an APP on TWITTER. Half of the Apollo project (today’s prices) in an APP.
If this doesn’t tell you anything about the priorities of the Hyper-Rich, it’s that they no longer care about honor or glory, but rather control our souls and minds.
(by the way the last name MUSK in Spanish is synonymous with stinky) and Elon knows it.
I didn’t mean to come off as defending Musk. Really just suggesting that this may be another example of the US directing the narrative of what the ends are in order to justify any means.
History has shown that if the American people believe that the ends are just, they will accept any means to get there. Even if there are some who might care, most are too busy trying to survive to actually have to the time to look into it.
There’s no K in Spanish. Just saying.
Ni de vaina es cierto.
Maybe, maybe ‘they’ will use this as more ‘evidence’ and justification for their “Restrict Act” in order to get is passed? Then we’re really screwed…
Musk is doing that all on his own. He just threw Matt Taibbi under the bus and soft-banned substack links.
Because substack introduced a Twitter competitor called ‘notes’.
So he’s not letting his own platform be used as free viral advertising for a new alternative. You can still post substack links that are not Notes ,afaik.
he document shown is a full colour newsprint version (consider the folding and bulging) not a photocopy.
I would expect top secret documents to be only on encrypted computers transmitted to their vetted destinations covertly.
I can’t think of a useful purpose for printing out many copies.
Perhaps, Larry, you could explain how these practical matters usually play out in the intelligence services?
The NYT hasn’t printed anything but CIA/WEF talking points and trash for years. It hardly matters if these “leaks” are authentic or not. It’s just more drama and will change no lives whatsoever.
It’s been way, way too many years of secret clandestine activities, secret FISA courts, secret CIA/State Dept spying programs and bs.
It would be nice if the consequences of these “leaks” led to the Americans burning down the State Dept/CIA/FBI/FISA Courts and every single “secretive” sewer institution installed in the US and functioned like a Republic “of the People, for the People” which can hardly happen when “the People” are blinded, in the dark & lied to without end.
Of course, outside of obvious news drama, a few patsy’s will be arrested, cuz heaven forbid “the people” have knowledge of anything, a Wikileaks/Assange redux, and then Another drama news cycle to entertain the masses.
As for “deep state”, “cabal”, “mic” or whatever label you wish to assign, there’s nothing “secretive” about them. Who they are, where they are… they are simply 100s of people, known to us all, that have had ZERO accountability for a thing, whose actions are causing the consequences to fall on all of our heads.
Headline News:NYT grows a conscience,prints the truth!LOL
There are some truth in the NYT :
The date…
The name of the executive editor..
The name of the city where the newspaper is based…
The names of the propagandists..
what else???
The documents are interesting. However, it doesn’t matter much what the US/NATO are doing or will do. What matters is what Russia is doing and will do. Russia alone has military escalation dominance over the US/NATO.
US/NATO has failed to establish economic dominance over Russia or over any other coutry who stands up for their sovereignty. US/NATO have information dominance over maybe 20% of the global population.
As for the Rest of the World (you know, the other 7 billion), it is time for them to take back what is theirs, namely their resources, sovereignty and dignity. For every nation who insists on sovereignty over their own affairs, there are 25 others overdue to grow a pair.
What are they waiting for?
It’s certainly not so far fetched to imagine that there are groups within the pentagon, who, for whatever reasons, are not happy with the administration’s conduct in regard to Ukraine and Russia. Perhaps they know it’s a lost cause, or the focus should be on China, or they are just anti-Biden and pro-Trump. Politicians are one thing, military is often tasked with dealing with reality. Point is, there isn’t always necessarily a need to call up 4D chess, this could just be what it looks like, a leak of real documents.
Focus shouldn’t be on China or Canada rather it should be on USA.
US fortune is going to be decided by what is done inside US. Focussing abroad will results in nothing but grief
I am yet to see any revelation of actual interest in those leaks so forgive me for taking the whole thing with a pinch of salt.
The revelation is the ‘leak’ itself. Try to keep up.
we already know of one insider with significant access to US planning and a willingness to monkeywrench US imperialism: the source for Hersh’s Nord Stream exposé.
could be an individual. could be a clique. finance capitalism (banking cartels) have so thoroughly coup-ed the USA with their security state thug enforcers
and steered the country in the direction of its own destruction, there could be a counter coup movement developing.
lets get real, the USA is on the path to total economic and social catastrophe. clear-eyed insiders at work.
If this WAS a leak, as it appears, from within the US national security establishment, I wish the leaker well. I hope s/he covered tracks thoroughly, and that our horrific 404 project goes down in flames without the leaker ever being caught.
When it does, I hope every last one of those thousands of western SOF / advisors / mercenaries – most especially the Brits, whose government sheltered corrupt treasonous Russian oligarchs and played an outsize role in developing the whole ‘Putin’s Russia’ psy-op – falls into Russian hands.
They can be used as a bargaining chip for the return of Russia’s stolen assets and the immediate, unconditional end of all sanctions.
The leaker has done us a great service, and I hope s/he doesn’t wind up like poor Assange.
So US Military leadership are leaking with purpose to upend a set of plans of action that are themselves expressions of failure-in-planning? & leaking throws big wrench into gears: to forestall military from attempting Mission Impossible?
That is: Plan B [leaking] to prevent Plan A implementation, which is at best suicide? And if implemented would result in Mother of all Cluster F**ks? This probably means they’ll be implemented. [Perhaps these generals might have tried this leaking maneuver prior to Afghanistan ‘exit’?]
I am waiting for leaked documents to demonstrate percentage [and counts] of military personnel vaccine injured, killed, sterilized . . . since it could be these leaks are about making excuses to not implement plans of action, why not blame all the problems on the death shots? While this would not of itself be accurate, it would be awesome public service.

Not sure we should believe the NYT on this one. They have a historical track record of being the vehicle to plant disinformation/cover from the IC. The panic is not about the leak, but something more explosive.
Here’s another perspective on what’s going on:
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2023/04/08/about-that-new-york-times-story-concerning-the-online-leak-of-u-s-military-and-geopolitical-intentions/#more-245306
Create the problem then offer the solution.
Target here is free speech.
Congress will fall all over themselves to stop the alleged leaks.
I am a US Army veteran. Everyone in my family served. We had no lifers. Everyone did a hitch. It wasn’t expected. It wasn’t discussed. You just did. Uncle Micky was one of the four close relatives that had lost a limb. He had a VA check, could drive a stick with one leg, and was drunk and chasing women till the day he died.
I have two daughters. Rest of the family went long girls, and we kinda died out. But if I had a son? I would shoot him in the leg before I let him join the military.
I am 63 and have no access to anything. If I did have ACCESS to any documents that could help Russia in Ukraine? I would give my life getting them across the Russian Embassy fence.
The country I fought for is evil. We are responsible for 11 million dead men, women, and children AFTER World War 2. And you can say it’s the government. But the fat sociopaths that cheer on the wars from their couches are the real problem.
So, I have no idea if this intel is real, faked, or where it came from. But I go to the VA hospital about once a month. I talk to a lot of veterans. The sand box kids are incredibly disillusioned. I am not the only one with my views. Far from it.
From loving our country to making us actively hate it. That took real work.
Mr. Nichols, let me just say that I value your comments very much. Need I say more? I am likewise very disappointed also for other, personal, reasons.
You aren’t alone. See Sandy’s comment. This is why I love Arkansans.

Curt,
I was born in a south american country and I always, until very recently loved everything about America. While I am a proud patriot of my country, I would get goosebumps when hearing the american anthem during the Superbowl.
Them, around the lockdowns, I started seeing things more deeply. And I became convinced that I hate America.
Then, one of these days, I was with my wife talking about american singers, and I decided to play to her Mrs Whitney Houston singing The Star-Spangled banner at 1991’s Superbowl.
No. I don’t hate America. I hate the elites that kidnapped what once was a great country. I hate the politicians, the wall-street oligarchs, the MIC, the degenerate media and academy and the bankers.
I hope america gets rids of this scourge so it can become again a great Nation.
Indeed, many think a change of government changes anything substantial, whereas it doesn’t. There is a corruption that rules the entire West including all political parties, it cloaks itself in patriotism but in reality is the parasite of corruption. Nothing will change unless the rot is identified and completely rooted out, doubtful anything short of a bloody revolution could do so, but of course that is precisely what the state apparatus is protecting itself against.
As to the documents, I prefer to yield to those more knowledgeable and I believe Larry fully qualifies in this matter. Being opinionated by one’s ego is the path to ignorance.
Larry: “What remains to be determined is whether the guilty party or parties are spying for the Russians or are acting on their own volition. Your guess is as good as mine.”
What difference is there? The first is “spying” and the second is…whistleblowing?
If they were spying for Russia shouldn’t they have planted it in a pickup spot rather than broadcasting via media?
What do the leaks have to say about resurrecting Japanese militarism/fascism, and the 2025 proxy war to wipe out the Chinese and their dastardly Walmart imports? Rearming nationalist Japan worse than rearming the Taliban; China supplies most goods to Amazon, Japan, Australia; even an embargo would cripple these economies. Kickoff after new pres w/ fresh callow Cabinet. Any plans?
Here’s a thought I haven’t seen yet… perhaps The Pentagon has a faction that sees the Ukraine Debacle being blamed on them, just like the botched Afghan adventure. Leaking this shows how the UAF CANNOT be propped back up to “regain Crimea by any means” etc. That puts the blame back on the Washington Uniparty Neocons/libs, the insane politicians and bureaucrats who drive US “foreign policy”.
Maybe this is the long awaited way out. Thanks Larry for an outstanding service to de world community.
This hypothesis seems to be corroborated by Martyanov in yesterday video.
If TOP SECRET docs are maintened in a complete separate system, for sure any printing job of those docs is logged somewhere. All printed top secret needs to be tracked after all.
With that in mind, would USA show the world that they found the leaker? What does that tell us about the credibility of those leaked docs?
The leaked NATO plans could be a hoax intended to deceive Russia, and steer it in the wrong direction, as Russia destroys everything the Uki try.
I tend to believe that 6th sense, which tells us “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”. Don’t believe in coincidences either.
The Ukrainian army is in a bad shape, but every western sponsor expects a victorious counter-offensive to put the Hollywood movies to shame. Thus, the maps/documents proving that can happen…
What 1st jumped at me when the story started few days ago, is that the NATO documents are on folded *papers*. Then I looked at the calendar, we are in 2023, and not in 1953.
Here ( https://t.me/fred33flint/443 ) are more versions about the nature of the documents
What exactly did anyone who has been paying attention learn from these super secret documents? Even Larry says “surprised to learn that Germany is doing the bulk of the training, according to this document.”
Gee. What a treasure trove. Is western “intelligence” really this good???
Is this really the level at which our military is working? Maybe they should go back to playing RISK.
Either 1) Assange did it or 2) ‘whoever leaked it is why Ukraine lost’ or 3)…n) something like that. Let’s pass the RESTRICT act.
Once again, Joe Biden cannot be trusted with top secret documents….
“The effect of this leak is simple — it is going to create chaos in the U.S. task force assigned the mission to support the war in Ukraine.” Did we honestly expect anything other than this in a RUS vs UKR conflict lol?
The document leak tells me several things (I’v held a TS/SCI clearance for many years–though I don’t currently and I don’t claim to be any kind of expert on anything except Whitetail deer hunting):
1. Nobody really know what’s going on in the SMO except the Russians and Ukrainians and they ain’t disclosing squat…it’s called OPSEC and I respect that. Anything else we see on the MSM or from NATO or other sources are just SWAGs–albeit some more accurate than others…for example Sonar21 and Simplicius76 posts for example are pretty damn credible.
2. The US intelligence community and the DoD are in really dangerous waters as institutions. Under the current Biden Clown Show administration they will continue to implode–probably a good thing–they are now just deep state operatives anyway.
3. A UKR UAF Spring or likely early Summer 2023 counter offensive would result in a lot of dead UAF soldiers and probably would decisively tip the scale in favor of RUS assuming that RUS will successfully defeat any counter offensive OP.
I’m actually growing kind of sick of this shit and I hope other fellow Americans are too…enough of constant war–we have enough US domestic problems that will span several presidential administrations to resolve.
Agree. These are real documents. They were photographed and posted, most likely, by a Snowden type character who is also sick of this shit (I am too).
I suspect the identity of the new Snowden will soon be revealed. It won’t be too difficult for the DoD to sift through the narrow field of possible suspects. He has probably prepared to flee, just as Snowden did, and may have even more stolen product to share with the world.
Hey Eric…yep a “Snowden” will be found…with real or fabricated ties to Russia and/or China…maybe even Trump lol.
What do you think of this theory: The US Intel Community and DoD engineered the leak to give the Biden admin cover for UKR and other foreign policy failures…in other words the leaks allow Biden to make the argument that his policies/plans would have worked but for the evil Russian/Chinese spies.
Maybe a weak theory but the neocons can’t blame Trump for everything.
Re; your theory – I was pondering that too, but dunno. I also thought about an excuse to call off the Ukraine offensive (or delay it).
I guess if a warrant is issued for a real person, as leaker, then it’s Snowden type scenario. If no warrant in the next few weeks, then probably it is excuse making.
Anyone who is not woke can be blamed… And will be blamed and cancelled!
So…real and interesting possibilities to consider. Thanks
How about analysis of the bulk of the ‘release’ dealing with the Mid-East and China? Seems that may worth mining for nuggets. Two PEU (persons of the EU = PEU) travelling midget show bored China and slunk off in failure. Bibi’s fascist coup attempt twarted. Peace, raprochement between Sunis and Shites and Syria being reintegrated into the Arab states fold. Might be important, just a feeling….
Banderistan is a done deal. Whether the ‘sassenach’ DU shells for the ‘Challenged’ armour trigger a full nuclear exchange or not, the outsome there has a probility, IMO, exceeding 99%. One side will not lose an ‘existential’conflict.
Who is behind the release? Some alphabet-soup dissedents trying to expose and halt before ‘too-late’ is reached? Or ‘disinformatsia’ to justify cut and run after reducing the ‘borderlands’ to rubble and shift focus? After all still $$$$ to be made!
At least the fixation on the ‘gershk’ (rhymes with ‘gerque) receeds from focus! Guilty as charged. Will be interesting to see the proposals for an exchange, if it goes that far.
Gershk for the famed Brazillian futbol (soccer) star Sergei (patronymic unknown) Chergochev (sp?) picked up by the USFBofI 3 weeks past in NJ with classified dos and labeled a FSB spy at the arrest. (FSB?!? Someone may twitter them and gently inform that the foriegn ops are either SVR or GSU, not FSB) One Duma member mentioned that the exchange should be for Assange. Several other have suggested the exchange should be for former USPres Trump, a noted RF asset and DbV (Friend of Vlad) exposed by the never-wrong USMedia 7 years ago.
Now we can the leaker/leakers of the doc drop to the list of possible assets fro exhange! Very interesting tymes!
Remember when the so-called deep state acted in unison and maintained discipline in the ranks? These days there is a whiff of anarchy among the plutocracy, both the domestic as well as the global one, with opportunistic individual actors striking out overtly or covertly. Washington is out of joint and they sense that the end is near so they are frantically try to grab advantage— power, money— before the dust settles.
Whoever did this was not interested in the reaction of the NATO helots. There won’t be any. Did Merkel cry much when she discovered she had been spied upon down to her lingerie? No. Did Schulz as much as grunt when the pipeline was blown up? No.Whoever did this had an internal/domestic target in mind. Unregistered but de facto foreign lobbies are “ domestic” too. Maybe the dream of packing one’s samovar and returning to Crimea after Russia is defeated has been cancelled due to new challenges by mythical enemies. After all, too much money is wasted on Ukraine instead of defending Israel from newly resurgent Iran.
It’s Purim time so reflection is in order. Where is a heroine like Esther when you need her? Victoria is too old and too fat…oy
Sundance posits this is a deliberate release from the US IC to create a “Russian disinformation” narrative in order to discredit Hollande’s recent admission from those two Russian pranksters. As you note Larry, these do not contain anything useful such as US knowledge of Russian capabilities. Also, note who is publishing them, which is relevant as Sundance explains…

“Finding and punishing those responsible”
I expect that Trump will be charged any day now.
Here’s a comment that was posted on Breitbart that raises some good questions as to whether it was intentional:
“What makes we think this is a purposeful leak?
In WW2 the Germans sent a light plane that crashed with plans for their attack on France & the low countries.
The Report (much like this one, same exact type of intel report) included the German’s use of the Schliffen plan which they knew from spies that the French 7 UK believed would be the German’s choice & this plane crash & lucky report strengthened their conviction.
This led the allies to deploy their counter Schliffen defense plan with the British expeditionary force moving up into Belgium etc & the Germans instead used a completely different attack plan through the Arden forest & as a result conquered France in less than a week.
The British Expeditionary force barely got out from Dunkirk together with about 100k French soldiers & no military equipment & France fell.
So if this is a purposeful leak it wouldn’t be the first.
Also D-Day & the invasion of Cecily & Italy in general both used the exact same trick by the USA to trick the Nazis & it worked both times.
The British intelligence force that was responsible for it was called “The Double-cross Committee”
Could this be a head fake?
97% of Russia’s available troops are already committed on the front?
If true, it would limit Russia in terms of strategic reserves.
Holding strategic reserves with the necessary capability to rapidly counter-attack any offensive is a key military factor.
Any serious consideration for an offensive must take into account the possibility of counter-attack.
How badly does Washington want a Ukrainian offensive?
How badly does Kiev want a military offensive?
Could this “leak” be an inducement for Ukraine to carry out the so-called “Spring Offensive” regardless of whether it has a realistic chance of military success?
Stranger things have happened.
Is Washington that desperate to “make something happen?”
Should a Ukrainian offensive fail… that could lead directly to the end of the war.
Does Washington secretly want Ukraine to lose militarily… so it can withdraw from this disastrous policy…
“It wasn’t our fault: Ukraine decided to conduct a failed military action which has left them with no ability to win… thus, we can’t carry on the policy.”
Most likely wishful thinking… i sure would like to put this thing at an end.
Operation Sunset: Keri Russell and Mattew Rhys, aka the Mrs. & Mr. Jennings in the “Americans”, sailed their yacht up the Potomac and made a drop by visit to Langley and the Pentagon
If genuine perhaps all is not well in Bidens administration. He has to have at least pissed off someone important by now. So perhaps it’s yet another attempt to get rid of Joe or do get him not to run in 2024. Personally I am sick of all these crisis , leaks , and insanity news cycles. Russia has one task to win on battlefield and I believe will accomplish that goal. USA is a giant incompetent drama queen at this point. So why does anything in the government really matter anymore?
https://rumble.com/v1hnbch-where-is-your-sting-darya-dugina-on-death.html
Who benefits from this leak, and who is harmed?
What actor will change their activity due to this leak?
This one is from Scott:
https://sputnikglobe.com/20230408/scott-ritter-us-document-leak-much-ado-about-nothing-1109280151.html
Any thoughts?
I disagree.
You both are basically saying the same thing.
I have to go with Scott here, “MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING”. Whether they are authentic or not isn’t really the point. If anyone is in an organization that has problems with this sort of thing (it does not need to be intel) you just need to distribute slightly DIFFERENT VERSIONS of a document (just with minor punctuation differences, these become punctuation “watermarks”). And then you wait to see what version of the document gets published and you have nailed your leaker. Knowing this simple trick, one would have to be an idiot to distribute the documents the way they did… so, IMHO, whoever did this was not a trade professional. The other (astronomically less likely) alternative is that is was someone so high up on the food chain, such that they were 100% sure that the documents they were leaking were not watermarked.
The fact that the NYT is involved in all this: I don’t know if Sundance at CTH is correct in his reasoning, but the NYT ought to be a red flag in and of itself. If it showed up in the NYT it is for the benefit of the US government. So, wait for a follow up from the NYT to understand why. And the way the US Intel community operates these days, (think Strzok & Page) the purpose will be as campy and unsophistication as an Ed Wood film. All IMHO.
I disagree. Read my latest.
No problem.
Larry –
This is a bit off subject, but I imagine you were aware that Pat Lang passed on this week (Tuesday, April 4th).
I used to follow his blog closely (when you were still welcome on his site). It all went south after Feb 24, 2022. I still checked in briefly every couple of weeks to see what nonsense TTG was posting.
Any thoughts?
Ed,
I got the following from a mutual friend of Pat’s. It sort of sums it up:
Larry C. Johnson:
Hi Larry,
You probably know this but I am making sure.
I am sorry that he was a horse’s ass to you towards the end. My take on that and him at the end of decades and decades of exemplary service to this great country was, he was “too long in the saddle.” “Too many miles on the odometer.” Essentially all his adult life. And he grew up with “affairs of state” being ever present as a child; learned at his Daddy’s knee.
I had been mentally drafting an email to you about him and other things.
I had choosen not to go to his blog from early January forward. About a week ago I went and knew that he was in trouble. On 20 Jan TTG posted that the Colonel was in the hospital. He called it “Depot Maintenance” which is a cute Army way of saying Pat needed heavy duty repairs. The Colonel got out was back home on 29 Jan. On 1 Feb the Colonel wrote his last post and what was noteworthy to me was that he hadn’t posted since then. Which told me he was in major trouble. If the man CAN’T post………..something significant is preventing him from being “at his duty station.” That was my take on it.
Blessings to you Larry. You learned, IMJ, from one of the best. I am sure he saw greatness in you. Otherwise he would NOT have mentored you. One of his most precious resources was his TIME. He gave you that. From what I can tell, was he “himself” at the end? No! Not only no, but HELL NO! And he, imj, badly blew the Russia Ukraine situation. In baseball terms, 8 incredibly strong innings, and a bad, bad 9th inning; (interpersonally with some key friends & professional assessment). C’est la vie, c’est la guerre.
Just a couple of weeks ago, I ordered a copy of COL Lang’s last book ‘The Portable Pat Lang’ and received it from Amazon.
A nice anthology of his work. I once again read his classic 2004 essay ‘Drinking the Kool-Aid.’ Everyone in the national security establishment should have to read this for a textbook example of how the intelligence process was used and abused in the runup to the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Most of the work in his book goes back a decade or more, so COL Lang was still at the top of his game. It is well worth the money.
Many thanks for your response.
i still wonder why pat lang become pro neocon on his last years.. is it really him who posted those comments on SST ? it is now obvious TTG is the one handling SST as i suspected , what a creep.
can senility and old age turned a man into neocon supporter ? i dont know just sad to see the col go like this
Maybe (I’m speculating) digging into American spec-ops history, digging into precursors to the current states of affairs, he went to a junction where he had to decide if HIS WHOLE LIFE was effectively a crime against mankind. Where EVERYTHING he was ever doing as adult was effectively abetting and enabling worst thinkable crimes. Or to back out, close the book, and became “patriot” again.
> It all went south after Feb 24, 2022.
LOL
I was banned ion his site, I think, in 2019 or maybe in 2018
I used to make a comment or two per month, about Russia’s history jn 20th century, when discussion to some their posts delved into angelic America and devilish Russia road.
No, it was not 2022 when “things went south”. 2022 was a point when things went so really far into such a Deep South l even a double-plus good-thinker like you noticed it. But the train was always going that way, for years.
Something happened to Pat after getting the vaccine. I am certain he suffered an injury that ultimately resulted in his death.
Maybe, maybe not. Basically we all have to find some refuge, some meaning to our very existence, especially as we are mortal and get more and more reminded of this.
I can say that until 08/08/08 war I was a believer in “liberal democratic law-based West”, the beacon, the mainstream, etc.
And the more deviations accumulated, like rape of Serbia, the more desperate my belief became, catching to the straw.
2008 for me was the point I could no more “ride two horses”. I had to make a final choice. Either whatever West says is true no matter what Russia says, or the opposite. There was no middle ground left, only this or that. That was a painful junction, cutting off your left arm or right arm, but one had to be cut off.
Then, once I had a really bad falling out with Saker, to the poi t he banned me from even reading his site, not mere commenting there. It happened when he jumped his horse ove idealistic Christian Tzardom of Russia, and how Russia would heal all her wounds accepting salvation in new tzarism. That time his patronizing went really under my skin and we had some progressively more and more emotional argument there. When I pointed that deeds he attribute to Blosheviks were actually deeds made by his grand-parents, the “White Guards” emmigrants. At this point he lost his ability at rational argument.
He developed as anti-Kremlin “cold warrior”. It was not some logic construction to him but his identity.
Then he hit the wall and had to decry all his prior life and service. Himself, largely.
But he found the refuge and… solace?.. in the warm illusion of tzar and his loyal knights, and how he would bask in new tzarist Russia if his Western homeland betrayed him… He was building his new identity on this.
Then some internet dweller swings a sledgehammer and shatters this new identity telling him real Russia would never accept this his pipedream.
He knew the argument was about history not his person. Still he could not remain rational, he turned into a total fight or flight.
Pat had no such refuge, for what I think to know about his life. His whole being was part of USA special services. If those services were to be assumed evil from get go, then so should be assumed his whole life and his whole soul.
I guess, this is a junction when some people turn to suicide or insanity. Or, instead, they can kill some part of their personality that made them look into the abyss and became soothed goodthinkers.
That is how I read it. Saker found some refuge, in Chirst or elsewhere, that gave him standing to nullify all his life yet still feel a person going somewhere with some future if not past. I think Pat did not gain this luxury, it was all or nothing choice for him.
The purpose of a fake is to mislead, to convince the adversary of something that is advantageous to the fake creator, the fake must therefore contain stuff that’s genuine and true and that the adversary is in possession of, or at least may be thought to possess, but it must also contain an information that’s totally new to the adversary, information that intends to fool him, to make him change the take on whatever the deceit was put together for.
The released documents have no such totally new information, the whole of the 100 or so documents is what was guessed, deduced or suspected, the leak must be true.
Who’s deeply penetrated US intelligence and military for decades? Israel.
The recent piece in The Nation about “Russiagate” really being an Israeli op reads like someone gave the author a trail of breadcrumbs. At about the same time we have DoS funded Israeli orgs starting massive protests against the Netanyahu government and Netanyahu himself publicly saying that Biden is trying to color revolution him.
And now this. It may well be that we’re seeing different factions of Mossad fighting via the US. Of course it could be someone from DoD. But if it’s a foreign source, Israel makes the most sense to both be able to get it and release it.
An interesting point in the NATO leak materials is that they expect Ukraine’s air defense to be mostly finished after another 2 or 3 wave attacks, and bizarrely they predict this will happen at the same time they are planning to launch the NATO counter-offensive!
Meanshile those ever-wise Ukrainians summon themselves their Gleiwitz moment.

“Poles, those bastrards and treacherous bitches, conspire to steal out city of Lviv! I call all the nationally-aware Ukrainians living in Poland to rise up!”
Of genius. In 2023 – of double-genius.
Especially in the very days NATO demands their few remains do a last hail Mary Bach Osten. It is so a high time to pick a fight with Poles too!

Soviet movie made 70 years ago when Russians were our friends. I think it’s possible that someone inside is tired of the evil West destroying the world, so in the same heroism that brought us Assange and Wikileaks, Snowden, Seth Rich, and Sy Hersch, the leaker brought meaning to their prior mundane existence by doing something of true value… that of thwarting the globalist-led devils at the top of US government in their efforts to destroy and cause even more unending misery to rest of the world.
Just a guess. (Disclaimer: Of course, I could be wrong.)
To be honest, a significant portion of the world’s population inwardly applauds when the US devil himself gets tripped up. So it’s not surprising if at least one of those folks works on the inside, has had enough, and wanted to do what they could to at least derail the devil a little bit.
I feel sad Manning is not on the list above
You’ll have to forgive me… I’m old. But to make it up to you, I hereby acknowledge that Bradley Manning did herioc deeds for his country.
I’m sad for his sake that he had personal issues regarding his biological self, and hope that one day he will feel comfortable once again in his own skin.
But that’s not why I forgot. And I’m sure there are others whom I did not mention. Again, I’m old (sigh).
> And I’m sure there are others
That is what make me sad here. Snowden and Assange at least can take comfort in being remembered.
And while Snowden put his life on the line, personally, Assange was mostly publishing what was leaked by others. No doubt, publishing was a noble, needed effort. Still, most of crime and danger, and least of possible reward in fame and donations, lies with kinds of Manning.
Would we all, people around the world, manage to act upon those leaks, then Manning, Seth Rich and others like them could find comfort in their sacrifice not being in vain, their effort fixing the history even for the price.
I don’t envy Assange, but can’t shake the feeling his celebrity status pushes “little men” out of the memory span.
Was it before or after the Raytheon plane crash? I was thinking that Lloyd, in shock over the death of his boss, could also have forgotten his papers in some toilet! Never seemed like a genius to me. Coincidences?
1) Could the leaked report supposed to mislead the Russians in thinking that the counter offensive will be delayed in view of the non readyness of AFU so the Russians be surprised when it happens ?
3) Could it be a trick devised by Ukraine to put all the blame of the eventual defeat of the counter offensive on the USA and NATO’s inability to protect the plans.
Ukraine will therefore request direct in involvement of the USA and NATO to correct that mistake.
Do you not realize that Russian ISR capabilities are equal to anything NATO has? Plus, Russian humint assets are far more robust. The Russians know there very existence is at stake and are acting accordingly. So, short answer to both questions you pose is, “no.”
Sure are a lot of posts. And back and forth they go – it was leaked for this and it was leaked for that. Whole lotta straining going on.
It’s obvious, ain’t it? These docs were leaked for the American People. Not the U.S. Military, or the Russian Military, or the Frenchies or the Brits or the Krauts – the American public. Give the poor bastards something substantial to sink their teeth into. A little bit of Truth will never go awry IF it is genuine stuff.
As for the source? Think Pentagon Papers. That kind of source.
Technical question, if I may, we do have software, that can Flatten & CleanUp This twisted-bendend “Secret” Papers photo/image/shots … right? Computer-Gurus Bragging about it everyday …. so, why people NOT using this software ? Run it, and show in a Perfect color-contrast condition, please.
I like to read the technical aspects by Larry and also Andrei M (smoothie).
However, political decisions are also important in what techniques are used.
Cui Bono?
Russians likely need the SMO to run at least one more year. Total destruction of the UAF in the upcoming offensive might not to optimal.
Everyone seem to think Russians are not having agents in critical areas. For all I know, even the NS2 blowup might be done by the the brat-like American leadership due to some such agents instigating them.
God and Russians work in mysterious ways.
Assuming Russia sees her goal the same way, how specifically would “Total destruction of the UAF” force Russia to occupy Ukraine or even to regime-change it?
Option is not obligation.
Remember, in 08/08/08 war Georgian army was destroyed – yet Russia decided to not even take Tbilisi. Saakashvili in a flash turned from a hero to zero.
Has someone been able to locate the entire trove of leaked documents of about a 100 pages that the NYT talks about? I’v only found this link with 6 pages and 6 or so more on twitter.

Good question. I’m looking as well.
helmers article
https://johnhelmer.net/the-writing-on-the-wall-as-revealed-by-the-pentagon-papers-leak/
For the past year the genuine military/intelligence analysts in the realist camp have been noting that there are some officers inside the Pentagon who know what is happening in Ukraine, and what is likely to happen. They are being sidelined and ignored. Winken, Blinken, and Nod see and hear only what they want to.
Could these new Pentagon Papers be the work of those analysts, trying get the truth out? The second batch named names and all of the sudden Milley and Austin are echoing the same truth – Ukraine air defenses are all but depleted.
The dates being reported in the MSM are oddly specific – S-300s gone by May 3, Buks by mid-April, front line defenses by May 23. Those numbers are based on extrapolations of Ukrainian missile use.
But Russia controls when missiles get fired. While the strikes up to now have been paced, leading to all sorts of speculation about running out or firing only as fast as they can build, that signal is completely controlled by the Russians. Would the Russians telegraph their limits or use that signal to deceive?
It seems more likely that Russia can exhaust the remaining Ukrainian air defense stocks whenever they choose. Ditto with shutting down the rest of the electrical grid. As one war correspondent put it, they left the lights on Kiev only so that Ukrainians could read the writing on the wall.
The Russians are ready, the Ukrainians are not, and the neocons appear desperate to start the counter-offensive. While the Ukrainians may take some or even a lot of territory, or be allowed to, the outcome is not in doubt, especially if the Russian air force is fully unleashed.
Could the Pentagon Papers be an attempt by people of integrity and courage to warn about what is going to happen? To stave off the seemingly inexorable march to a thermonuclear war?
Glenn Greenwald is asserting that there is little in the documents to damage the United States (nothing like Ellsberg, Snowden, Wikileaks) other than the usual US national security reporters/shills INSISTING that the leaks are the equivalent. Greenwald suggests that the leaks are actually for Russian audiences, to make them lose faith in their command structure (littered with spies) that it is costing them more casualties than their news sources are reporting and that the war will be a long one. All of the panic in the Pentagon is just a show to convince ordinary Russians that these are real. The leaks never went viral on their own over the past few months, so the NYT was sent in to light the match:
Leaked Ukraine War Docs: What’s really going on? Plus: Dems Urge Biden to Ignore Court Rulings | SYSTEM UPDATE #67
https://rumble.com/v2hf6k0-system-update-67.html
Greenwald’s is the best explanation I have seen. IMHO Everyone knows this war is about to go south really soon, so any nutty, fruitcake, low-probability idea is probably now permissible.
I would really struggle to imagine a Russian today that would have trust to both Kremlin and Pentagon…
Personally I would expect all the Pentagon papers to consist of mostly kissing up to superiors and parroting whatever agenda they enjoy hearing, just like it happened with both Space Shuttles before the disasters. So, those leaks to me, while probably authentic, have minimal veracity.
For another wing of the now polarized Russian society, whatever comes from USA is divine truth, but those lack trust in Kremlin anyway, why preaching to the choir?
So, if this leak really was any kind of Russia-targeting psy-op, as their primary goal, this could’ve only highlighted how clueless and detached US rulers became.
