The sixties band, Buffalo Springfield, had a hit song that I think captures the dramatic developments in Ukraine and Russia over the last 36 hours — “There’s Something Happening Here:”
The collapse of Ukrainian resistance in Soledar was confirmed even by some of the staunchest supporters of Ukraine, which means that Bakhmut is expected to fall under Russian control in the next few days. Russian forces are moving from the South, the North and the East and are creating a potential cauldron that will leave Ukrainian soldiers in Bakhmut surrounded.
Remember my last article? I credited CNN with getting something right. Well, you can relax, CNN is back to pushing propaganda and failing to understand what is going on:
Russia’s Defense Ministry announced yet another realignment of the commanders leading the war in Ukraine on Wednesday, as criticism mounts over its handling of the stalled campaign.
It said that General Valery Gerasimov, chief of the Russian General Staff, would become the overall commander of the campaign, with the current commander, Sergey Surovikin, becoming one of his three deputies. . . .
Mark Galeotti, senior associate fellow with the Royal United Services Institute, said “it is a kind of demotion [for Gerasimov] or at least the most poisoned of chalices. It’s now on him, and I suspect Putin has unrealistic expectations again.”
https://edition.cnn.com/2023/01/11/europe/russia-valery-gerasimov-ukraine-commander-intl
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Yes, Chief of General Staff General of the Army Valery Gerasimov was named the commander of the Joint Group of Forces and Sergei Surovikin named Commander-in-Chief of Aerospace Forces General of the Army. This was not a command shake up because of unhappiness with Surovikin’s performance over the last three months. Just the opposite — I believe it signals that Russia is setting the table for a major escalation in its operations to eliminate the Ukrainian military threat.
Letting Surovikin focus on the “Aerospace Forces” means that Russian air and space operations are likely to kick into overdrive. Until now, the Russian Air Force has played a minimal role in the battles during the last 11 months. Putting Gerasimov in charge of the Joint Group of Forces is a clear signal that the command task going forward is going to be more complex and comprehensive. Cue Bachman Turner Overdrive, You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet:
Let me give you a couple more relevant pieces of intel. Let us start with a large movement by the Russian Navy in the Black Sea:
This morning Russian Navy ships and submarines left their base at Novorossiysk, in the Black Sea, en-masse. This is highly unusual and may indicate ongoing operations.
Sources seen by Naval News confirm the exodus. The group included the Project 11711 Ivan Gren class landing ship, Pyotr Morgunov, the largest amphibious ship in the Black Sea.
It also contained all three Project 636.3 Improved-Kilo class submarines which were present at the base. Analysis suggests that other warships were also sailing, leaving only a few warships and support vessels in the port. It is likely the most empty that Novorossiysk has been in many months.
https://archive.ph/2023.01.11-191333/https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2023/01/sudden-surge-in-russian-navy-ships-and-submarines-in-black-sea/#selection-703.0-715.293
At the same time, Russia is continuing to build up its military forces in Belarus:
Over the weekend, the Belarussian Ministry of Defense announced that a significant tactical flight exercise between Belarussian and Russian forces would take place from late January to early February. The Russian military has deployed more than a dozen helicopters in Belarus, including Mi-8 transport and Mi-24 and Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters. According to the British Military Intelligence, some of the helicopters sport the “Z” war marking that Russian forces are using on the ground in Ukraine.
“The new deployment of Russian aircraft to Belarus is likely a genuine exercise, rather than a preparation for any additional offensive operations against Ukraine,” the British Military Intelligence assessed in its latest estimate of the war.

One more thing –Where are the Chechens? If you followed the battle of Mariupol in May the social media channels were filled with video of the bearded Russian muslims shouting Allahu Akbar as they crushed the Ukrainian Azov battalion. Now, nothing. They are out there somewhere in substantial numbers but have not yet been operationally deployed in force. Are they gearing up for a new offensive?
Put yourself in the shoes of the Ukrainian General Staff. On the eastern front your soldiers are being slaughtered and losing critical territory to Russia. The Bakhmut/Soledar line of defense has been breached. You need to reinforce the Kramatorsk/Slovyanksa line but there are limited numbers of trained troops.
At the same time, you have to wonder if the Russians are going to launch an amphibious/aerial assault on Odessa. Do you have enough forces or available reinforcements to fortify and defend Odessa. Then there is the build up in Belarus. Belarus and Russia have assembled enough ground and air forces to pose a credible threat to Kiev.
Where will Russia strike? That is why Gerasimov has assumed overall command of these Joint Forces. He could use feints by forces in the North and South to pin down Ukrainian troops and launch a major attack from the East. Or he could order full attacks from the North, South and East. He has other options as well.
The West and Ukraine claim that Russia cannot mount a credible offensive operation until Spring. I don’t know if the West is putting that message out as part of a propaganda campaign to convince Russia that Ukraine is not prepared for a Winter offensive or if they genuinely believe that. The only thing I know for certain is that Russia, like a World Champion Poker Player, is hiding its cards and only showing Ukraine what it wants them to see. Is Russia going to go all in or will it continue grinding?
Love your musical choices.
both bands were all or mostly Canadian.
True but Neil Young is yours now. Think he lives in California squatting on stolen indigenous land. Have not heard from him in awhile. Probably penning one of those anti war songs he is so famous for.
No person of European descent in North America is not squatting on stolen indigenous land. Why bring attention to it in the case of Neil Young?
Are you saying the actors in that great genocide were not of european decent?Really?Must have been a huge civil war among the red skins.
Just to bring you up to speed. Neil Young ventures back to Canuckistan to lecture about Tar Sands and speaks about injustices of indigenous in the frozen north. Is that a good enough reason? The guy is just another typical sellout. Is it wrong to call bullshit on these clowns? I do. And will. He is yours now. Keep him. Learn to recognize sarcasm.
Most all peoples everywhere have been conquered or conquerors, and usually both, across the long history of mankind. It’s banal trivia to point to a particular historic reference when the pattern of conquest and conquered is the history of man.
Because he is such a hypocrite. As are you CC
The indigenous came from Asia. It was not their land in the first place.
New research has shown the Indians stole the land from another civilization that was there before.
If you cannot defend it it’s not yours. So much for “stolen indigenous land”. They stole it from each other and got it stolen from others. And that happend all over the world. So what? How far would you like to role back history.
Huh? Why would draw you to that conclusion from a simple statement about a guy who sings about injustices done to indigenous in Canada( who have treaties by the way) only to live in California on land that was never ceded? It is called irony. Now to the statement you make “Cannot defend it it is not yours” Pretty bold statement. As Fox tv blares in the background about a “crises” at a certain border for the past 30 years it mystifies myself that a few gun toting card carrying well regulated militia types have not secured said border. Or at least driven down there and on the way by Tractor Supply grabbed some fence posts and barb wire and built a wall themselves. You know without government help. Reality is nothing will get done without the government doing it for you. Admit it. It will feel better. Have a great day
“First Nations?” If you feel so strongly about it you go back to wherever your ancestors came from if they will even have you.
The greatest degradation and humiliation against Canadian First Nations people has to have been when former NHL player and coach Ted Nolan (Ojibwe tribe) was given a job first coaching the Latvian national hockey team and later the Polish national hockey team.
Don’t be simple
Naw, Neil is full libtard now, probably writing some pro-war stuff
He’s not the only one. The Duran better wake up to Brit propagandists interviewing rehearsed American mercs and slipping into their site unnoticed. Right, pono?
Brits are good at that sort of bull, aren’t they?
Everyone ever stole their land from someone else. No one cares.
How many ignorants here. You the first Randomize.
The point is not “stealing the land”.
The point is exterminating the natives, replacing them completely (well, not completely, only 99%) like the English did in USA, Canada, Australia and NZ (in India there were already a lot of people, so they could not).
Spanish “conquistadores” conquered from Mexico to Tierra del Fuego .. killed many natives .. but not all. The natives were not put in concentration camps like the native north Americans.
Spain itself was conquered many times: by Romans, by Goths .. by Arabs .. nobody was exterminated.
“No one cares.”
No sorry, idiots do not care. Normal people, at least acknowledge History.
Young continues to damn Monsanto while demanding every gets the Pfizer vax.
Yep Neil Young turncoat. He became one of the Nazi Vax Squad. To add to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s sentiment about Young – it ain’t just southern man who don’t need him around anyhow. Neil Young is probably flying Azov Battalion flags on the indigenous land he has stolen so he can stay sweet with all the other sell-out 60s folk rock stars.
Sad how so many of those 1960s folk rock singer songwriters who were back then opposing Vietnam War (and the Nazi warmongers in Washington and the Anglo-American complex) got seduced by the millions they made and they joined the big exclusive club – Joni Mitchell et al. Although a few have stayed the course – most notably Roger Waters of Pink Floyd who is doing great work to out the truth.
In the ’60’s, it was in your self interest to oppose the Vietnam War. I certainly did and everyone I knew did. I’m certain that many who went on to stardom never changed their opinion and were not seduced in the way you are claiming. Generalizations never stand up. Do you actually know any of these people or do you just get your info from rags like The Guardian? Did you even live through the 60’s as a young adult?
True words if I ever read any! Well said!
I once went on an anti (Iraq) war on Venice Beach I think it was 2003. There were only maybe 100 of us protesters. Then Slash from Guns ‘n’ Roses appeared out of nowhere with a few other musicians and they started playing this Buffalo Springsteen song and many other good ones. That was the first time I heard it.
Where was Aerosmith and “Dream On”?
Probably grooming teenagers somewhere!
Re late 1960s and the Buffalo Springfield era.
I was a teenager back when Buffalo Springfield and others were producing such great meaningful music – a lot of us baby boomers back then believed there was hope for stopping war and seeing a monumental peaceful revolution. Alas we blew it. We got side-tracked and lost the plot. It was on our watch that this Nazi scum (whose dynastic familial lineages go back centuries) successfully managed to subvert the peace movement.
I mean Nazi literally – you need to check out the research of Dr Joseph Farrell and others relating to how post WW11 the worst of the top Nazis war criminals not only survived but with help from their cohorts in America, UK and Europe, they managed to take control of all the major western intelligence agencies and over time they took effective control of our governments. Max Ehret and his wife Cynthia Chung (The Canadian Patriot website) are also great contributors to this long sordid history.
Notwithstanding most of the personnel in those agencies believed they were working on the good side fighting the communist threat – however it was in the highest echelons of those agencies where the real Nazis were so surreptitiously ensconced.
Further joining some dots:
I think it was Russia’s Sergei Lavrov who a few years ago stated publicly that it was not the Nazis in Brussels that are the biggest threat to Russia and the world but the Nazis in Washington. He was not exaggerating the reality. Sorry I have lost links to that source and cannot relocate it.
In 2001, just before 9/11, Russian economist Tatyana Koryagina predicted that a globalist cabal, with USD$300 trillion at their disposal, was about to launch a false flag attack on America.

But coming back to Neil Young and all the sell-out 60s folk rock stars like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, you must check out the 20 years research by Tom O’Neil and the book he has just published titled ‘Chaos’ (CHAOS being the name of a CIA operation set up to spy on and destroy the peace movement) which details the history of Charles Manson and how, based on the evidence it seems most likely that Manson was a mind-control subject of the Nazi intel agents who over years, using LSD and mind control brain-washing techniques, set up the conditions for the Tate-LaBianca murders for express purposing of demonizing and destroying the Anti-War Peace movement. By demonizing the hippie counterculture movement as the incubator breeding ground for deranged drug-fueled murderers they effectively shifted public opinion against the movement by having instilled terror of hippie peace movement into the hearts of the millions of conservative people across America and the world. The effects of the Manson horrors on the geopolitical stage cannot be underestimated.

This is the dark power behind Ukraine events and the Nazis, posing as Globalists, who launched Covid and who are in process of pulling out all stops to establish their New World Tyranny – which if they succeed in doing will make all other past tyrannies combined pale into insignificance.
Let us hope and pray that Russia and their allies succeed in ridding the world of this Nazi scourge and that they succeed in establishing a multipolar co-operative world order and that finally the world might be able to apply all the horrendous sums of money and materials that are currently being wasted on weapons and murderous wars to peaceful projects that will benefit all humanity and all nations – and that we might at long last beat all the swords into ploughshares.
“They shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”
Thank you, Allan, all very well said. Alas, the history of the US (our country of birth) is that all the good movements, even starting with using Tom Paine to mobilize the people to fight off the imperial Brits, only to stage a takeover by the slaveholder and rentier class, and the ensuing genocide and murderous expansion that gave the German Nazis their role model. All in the name of Freedom and Democracy….
Instead of MKL or Paul Robeson becoming President, we got Obama. And on and on it goes.
Thank you Subhuti37. I grieve for all you good people in America having to endure the trap they have sprung on you and which as you point out has been a work in progress over generations now.
I am a Kiwi which is an amusing apt name for us New Zealanders because the Kiwi is a bird that made a fatal evolutionary choice thousands of years ago when there were no natural predators in New Zealand and the lush subtropical bush was thriving with abundant insect life so the Kiwi slept during daylight hours and rose at night to feast all night on a banquet of juicy insects – so its wings atrophied, it lost its ability to fly, then many years later humans arrived on the shores of these islands bringing rats and other predators and it was game over. Were it not for recent radical human intervention the Kiwi would now be extinct, albeit the flightless Kiwi bird is still not out of the proverbial extinction woods. So the Kiwi is a very apt name for its human counterparts, because we human Kiwis have become even more stupid in our unquestioning and unswerving devotion and obedience to the Anglo-American Globalist Agenda sending the cream of our youth to die in the wars of WW1 and WW11 which really had nothing to do with us (I think on per capita basis New Zealand and Australia lost more young men in those wars than Britain and America – our losses were horrendous on per capita basis). Very soon we New Zealanders and Australians are soon going to learn the very hard way what a disastrous choice we made in this respect, when they pull the plug on the Anglo-American dominated global economy in order to engineer their so-called ‘reset’ at which time they plan to wipe out the middle class and own New Zealand lock stock and barrel; then to complete the metaphor us Kiwis will find ourselves in a Neofeudal jungle with no wings and no way out – indentured debt slaves – UNLESS (as I hope and pray) Russia and their BRIC allies can defeat the Globalists ambitions and remove their yoke from the world, and then hopefully the Russians might act better towards us than we have to them, in spite of the years of misery and suffering the Anglo-American Empire imposed on Russia and so many other nations, going way back to the Wall St and City gang having funded and organized the Bolshevik Revolution as well as having set up and funded both world wars (refer the research of Antony C Sutton – you can download some great free pdf books by Sutton if you search “Antony C Sutton pdf books – here is brief bio of Sutton and his findings
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antony_C._Sutton).
Allan, I think you have pretty much nailed it except for expecting Russia to save your(our) bacon. It appears to me that Putin is just a WEF actor, like the person playing “Joe Biden, Trump and all the other world leaders like the fearless tranny running NZ.
The half assed way Putin has conducted the war has only given the West time to get more involved- it seems to me to be just a phony war- real people get killed but the overall war is just phony and in the end only the real controllers will benefit. I think all the major wars were phony. My father was in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII so I know that real fighting occurred but that doesn’t make it any less phony. He was also Captain of the Guard at Nuremburg and got Goring’s autograph before they faked his death. Fake, fake, fake- everything fake.
Oh- and the whole Manson thing was faked- for the purpose you state- but unlikely anyone died- just crisis actors- it appears that the Manson ‘girls” were trannies. Look up Miles Mathis web site- he exposes a lot of the false flags and hoaxes.
Idem!
ditto.
Excellent analysis and musical drop-ins!
Thing of the expeted operation as a game of Go, where you win by limitimg your opponents ability to move, instead of a game of Chess. With this said a three pronged attack would to be the most likely scenario.
1. Indications of an amphibious assault makes sense. With Odessa’s architectural heritage being important to the Russians, it makes sense to send in Naval Spetsnaz and limit the fighting from door to door.
2. To destroy incoming supplies to the Ukrainians, via the western border, from the Globalists, Russian Air and rocketry power makes a good choice. While a strong force would check any NATO incursion from Poland into Ukraine or across the Bellarus Border and limit any Ukrainian forces from responding in order to maintain the Kiev defense.
3. A third heavy armor and infantry surge from the East above the lines of contact, rolling down south at every Ukrainian stronghold and becoming the hammer against the anvil of fortified Russian positions.
A three pronged attack, will overwhelm Ukrainian forces leaving no viable choices except defense in place, but more importantly will immobilize Western response.
As for the Chechens, they may be ready to deploy to the underground cities of the Soledar and Bakhmut Salt Mines.
Stop it!
you know nothing.
Too much for your limited intellect to comprehend. Just point to one thing, just one thing, General Steeve.
You’re going to have to prove that statement – or be ignored (loss of credibility).
Meanwhile in America, our president is leaving caches of top secret documents all over the place. In addition to the negligence of potentially exposing serious stuff to potentially anyone, it also shows us that America’s grossly over-budgeted spy agencies have become an informational sieve that cannot keep track of its top secret missing stuff for who knows how long. As this is all happening live, it is quite possible you have foreign spies running around every place Joe was known to have spent time in and scouring the locations for more goodies.
Back to this article – fully concur, something major is about to happen, the re-alignment is to prepare for a major, coordinated effort. What the response of the west will be – that is the million $$$ question as rubber is about to meet the road and the lying will be impossible to hide.
“..an amphibious/aerial assault on Odessa”
What sea-lift do they have to do that, one LST with a couple dozen APCs and two companies of marines? OK they have 5 of them, if all are operational, that’s 1,500 troops. That is smaller than the first wave at Tarawa. To join them are five (max) frigates, with one an antique Krivac that was last dangerous when I was on active duty, and a half-dozen corvettes? Good luck with that attack.
Air-lift? They got shot up badly last time out and they had the element of surprise then. Did they rebuilt the untis shot to pieces? Do they have troop transport aircraft available in strength? In addition the continuous AWACs from beyond the border see far enough into Ukriane to spot an enmasse airlift. What will they jam that with, or do they think the time from detection to telling the UA command what’s happening is long enough to risk it?
Yes, and just imagine, they do this – it is known since March – without any ammunition and missiles!
Fred still fighting in Vietnam or Afghanistan?
This is continental warfare , nobody alive except Larry has experienced it or capable of remembering.
Watch two big heavy weights pushing off as the ref smacks heads. Push off and then unleashing massive blows at any target. It’s slow and deadly.
When it’s live, it’s all adrenaline : history shows the big picture.
“You ain’t seen anything yet,” track encapsulates the entire SMO. This is the Western Front 1914-18 and a Stalingrad, butchers breakfast. I don’t think Ukraine can survive this war because they may never return.
Aaron,
Tarawa wasn’t in either of the wars you are trolling with.
” nobody alive except Larry”
Which Larry would that be?
Thomas, I’m sure the Russian’s general staff is aware of those facts; their awareness didn’t stop them from getting their airborne forces shot to pieces in March/April of last year.
All of their forces got shot to pieces on Twitter and CNN, and still are. In reality, not so much.
They are still at the Kiev airport as reported in the Western press a year ago?
https://www.westernjournal.com/russia-seizes-kyiv-airport-stunning-airborne-operation-ukraine-counterattacks/
Well, maybe the dead ones are. Thanks for the great analysis.
They were never at the KIev airport. They did take Gostomel one in less than a day, and held it until the retreat from the whole northern area happened.
Airborne forces also held north of Kherson region, until the retreat form that area. They don’t get shot to pieces because they know how to fight, and how to retreat. Unlike them, Zelensky cannon fodder troops are really into last stand stuff, and getting shot to pieces is their thing. If you have fetish for it, you should check Soledar related news.
I would like to thank you for great trolling, but I can’t because it’s of inferior quality. You need to up your game and link to Ghost of Kiev, or Zaporozhie Avenger article, or at least one about Russians running out of ammo or vodka.
Trolling no one, but you.
How far back in time do you go to find a win.
Continental war ain’t rubber thong shoes or towels on heads. How long is the 101st infantry going to last against Russian massed artillery and air supremacy. Yep America no longer owns that.
Re Larry that’s called humour.
He’s a man of great wisdom, admired and respected my many people. He reminds me of my dad who, as a small boy l assumed he was three hundred years old. Found an old photo of the two of us, shocked me to see he was only 40 years old and rather young looking.
Don’t think through rage.
Winners are grinners losers are accusers.
PS….THE NARRATIVE HAS JUST CHANGED check out Zerohedge .com Ukraine maybe getting the “memory hole treatment,” before the Russian offensive begins. That’s what’s getting around the traps.
I’m not impressed by your expertise: If (!) such problems exist do you believe that the Russian general staff is not aware of them?
The gist of freds point is the russian army would never be smart enough to have a well trained amphibious force.Awacs ,down in flames into the black sea.the distance from Belarus to Transnistria is not that far. What if Russian intel has picked up threads that the west may go Batshit crazy and put boots in Ukraine.Nato troops in far east Roumania. The west has no reverse gear and Russia knows this.Gerasimovs appointment reeks of ww2.This may well be the final show down and Russia cannot be defeated without being destroyed.I would bet the farm on the dirty Russkies!
Thomas, or should I call you Aaron?, I never gave any bonafides to establish expertise, though I did ask questions that apperenlty hurt the feelings of the Russian general staff. But let me help you out: On the internet nobody knows you are a dog.
Well there’s been a few surprises. Let’s just wait and see. Personally I trust Larry’s analysis a lot more than yours.
You ain’t seen nothing yet!
Of course nobody shows their cards, Russia keeps the fire on the Ukraine; Until the west wears itself out and decides to either retreat or move on, the Russians are waiting in their camp for the enemy, this is the card of patience while the Nazis burn.
Russians have a good track record of annihilating nazis, that’s a fact. I’m deeply ashamed of being paret of the nazi supporting West.
Good. Hope Russia wins and the bideT mafia and puppeteers are exposed.
What a strange world we humans make for ourselves or let others play with while we look on dumb and numb.
It used to be we were the good guys fighting for America, West and freedom.
Soviet Russia was the bad guy that wanted to conquer and enslave.
Now, we are ruled by leftoxenomorph communists and nazis, pushed more and pushed more by a ratcheting game into gleichschaltung.
Our leftoxenomorph rulers keep creating crisis after crisis for our ruination out of nothing but unicorn farts.
“Climate change”,
the covidiocy scamdemic,
the poison vaxx NottaVaccine genetic slow-kill bioweapons to “fix” the covidiocy scamdemic,
food shortages,
energy crisis,
the impossible and useless electric vehicles,
the abandonment of the internal combustion engine,
the hydrocarbons crisis,
the depleting of our Strategic Petroleum Reserve,
the corrupting, perverting, feminizing, de-naturalizing and purging of our military,
how many destructive corrupt, thieving programs like the F-35, the Osprey and the Littoral Combat Ship while they try to murder really valuable tools like the A-10, to name just a few,
the total perversion of the educational system,
the destruction and corruption of health care into a murder machine for profit with the government paying them bonuses per couple of “covidied” ears, like in the times of old,
the “eat ze bugs”,
the “Soylent Green” composting of human remains,
the “15 minutes cities”,
the “cashless society”,
the “programmable ‘money’”,
the “social credit scores”,
the “carbon credit scores”,
the “domestic terrorization” of any opposition,
the turning the FBI into the new gestapo,
the elimination of natural gas use,
the perversion of kids by a brutal degeneracy pedophilic assault,
feminazism turning half the population into leftoxenomorph feral and poisonous kadavergehorsamkeit zombies,
just to name a few that come to mind.
It’s all bullshit. It’s all by design. There’s no reality behind any of it except for the damage they cause and the freedoms lost and our enslavement.
So, the bad guys are in charge in the West. America is dead and Venezuerica is a leftoxenomorph commie concentration camp / banana “republic”
And now we have Russia talking about rights and decency.
Things are so upside down that I’m surprised that gravity still works. Why don’t things float out into space?
The reason is that gravity is not bullshit nor is it a “social construct” because reality exists and A is A and the whole of leftoxenomorphism is just a lying and murderous assault on humanity for the purpose of destroying human civilization and genociding most of humanity and enslaving the rest.
And I still have to force my mind around the concept that the Russians might be the only rational enough and decent enough people left with enough balls to fight for themselves.
We . . . are armed . . . but we are not fighting . . . are we? And we are not gonna . . . are we?
And we, well . . . our leftoxenomorph overlords . . . are now the anti-human ghouls and they are in charge and that makes us their orcs.
Let’s face it: it is our lives and taxes that pay for their evil. They . . . are doing it . . . we . . . are letting them . . .
I don’t like being an orc.
Well said, reminded me of Network 1976, I’m Mad As Hell and I’m Not Gonna Take This Anymore! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRuS3dxKK9U
That’s what happens when a society decides to ditch their spiritual grounding and do away with wisdom. Reminds me of what Nietzsche wrote in The Parable of the Madman (1882).
Amen. I believe Americans are ripe for a spiritual reawakening, but things are going to have to get a whole lot worse first.
😂 Spiritwhat reawakening?
If Americans are ripe for anything it’s a hail of kicks on their national arse!
EZ CC, those below your own spiritual reawakening should remind you of those way above your limitation. One of which, is you should never judge a people by the crimes of their government, for usually, these governments will turn on their own people. Judge not wise man.
You are a dead-set legend!
I hope this helps.
Il faut ne pas oublier que les Nazis etaient de la gauche. National Socialists.
the same trend happens in every country when a particular merry group of predatory psychopaths from a psychopath support group masqueraded as a ‘religion/culture’ get into a critical mass of positions of power.
Their evil by definition never stops – if allowed they get encouraged and spread their democidal, psychopathic dirty tricks while of course acting and pretending to somehow be ‘victims’…always blaming their own crimes on their victims as Goebbles advised.
Nooland, BLinken, the tranny Rachel Lavine, Schummer, etc…and most of the leading actors of the Covid Murder System, including the CEOs of Sheizer, MURDeRNA, JJ Merick etc… all come from this same Psychopath Support Group
You don’t like being an orc, but are you willing to face the truth about how we are letting them get away with this evil? We have legalized theft. That is the truth of taxation and few people are willing to face that, let alone debate it. At best they complain that the rich aren’t paying their “fair” share. Meanwhile the parasites continue to demand that we pay our “voluntary” dues to “our” governments, or risk death or life in prison if we refuse to give them what is rightfully ours.
But apart from all that, everything’s hunky-dory, right? You haven’t been taking your blue pills lately.
You list many Woes of the West. Resistance can be as simple as buying gasoline engined cars, refusing their kill shots, planting thought bombs that question the propaganda, using cash as much as possible.
There are lots of ways to subvert their systems, disrupt their plans and not join their orcs.

Yes you do, orc.
… as usual.
“It used to be we were the good guys fighting for America, West and freedom.
Soviet Russia was the bad guy that wanted to conquer and enslave.”
That was never the case – that was just people believing propaganda.
This is from Putin’s address to the military on 21 December: “We will not repeat the mistakes of the past, when we harmed our economy to boost our defence capabilities, regardless of whether it was warranted or not. We are not going to militarise our country or militarise the economy, primarily because we have no need to do it at the current level of development and with the structure of the economy that we have. Again – we do not intend to, and we will not do things we do not really need, to the detriment of our people and the economy, the social sphere. We will improve the Russian Armed Forces and the entire military component. We will do it calmly, routinely and consistently, without haste. We will attain our objectives to strengthen our defence capability in general as well as meeting the goals of the special military operation.”
So if you want to know what the Russian leadership is planning long-term, not just the next strategic move, there it is. My guess is that the Russians will move to wherever the Ukrainian troops are concentrated and grind them down using their superiority in artillery and air power, just as they’ve been doing, with as little loss of Russian troops as possible.
In my view they’re no longer looking for just demilitarisation, it’s capitulation and surrender or nothing, with Ukraine left as a rump state with no access to the Black Sea or any way to rebuild their military to ever be a threat in the future.
If NATO thinks they can change the Russian calculus in any meaningful way, either militarily, or by sanctions and price caps, they’re even more deluded than they’ve demonstrated up to this point.
Yes, Nato has put a lot of bluffs into the MSM sphere. It’s either wishful thinking, the dream of scaring Russia believing that bluff or simply utter BS to cope with the reality by Nato’s big butt hurt.
In fact Nato knows if they go too far they will be picked up and destroyed one by one, while the others watch and gasp for air while stating, that they had nothing to do with it. This is their actual approach. It is not Nato doing stuff out there. Is its members acting on their own. If they do so, they can’t involve article 5 then. Its on them. Pure desperation.
It only shows Nato is not working and it is nothing than a terrorist organization to bully mostly defenseless countries into submission to the western hegemony. That is over now. Nato will desolve soon. Russian leadership was not joking to bring them to their state from 1991. Ukraine is just the beginning. Nato started that whole thing. They gone mad, they gone too far.
Never ascribe to madness that which can be shown to be evil….
YES, YES YES! That is what I have been saying in other words for months now.
Quit calling these evil people fools, or insane, or stupid.
That gives gives them an easy pass. Call a Spade a Spade.
THEY ARE EVIL. Dutiful servants of the Master of Lies himself. The Dark Lord.
Very nice, Larry! You made my day by offering this track by Bachman Turner Overdrive as part of your commentary. I used to love that band, and still do. Ah, the soaring guitar solos by Blair Thornton and the heavy rock sound by guitarists Bachman and Turner and Robbie Bachman’s drums. Their music always made me feel good, while one track, in particular, “Hold Back the Water,” invariably lifted me from whatever bad mood I may have been in at the time. I admire your unorthodox, innovative approach to enhancing your political commentaries with popular songs. Maybe you are developing a new journalistic genre. I think you may be into something here. Good luck and looking forward to more of your commentaries and song selections.
Based on news reports, I suspect Bakhmut salt mines served as the regional ammunition supply point for all of eastern Ukraine. The Americans stocked it full of ammo before this war began. This explains why Ukraine fought so hard for that town.
The last thing the Russians want is to slug it out street to street in Kiev or Odessa. Better to slaughter them in the open fields as they come out of the cities to help hold the Donbas farmland.
The quickest win is to drop down from Belarus and cut the supply lines from Poland, then wait for surrenders.

Excellent post! For me, one of Larry’s best about the war. An intelligence professional. More words for what? And the sudden appearance last week of 10 times Iraq war criminal Condoleezza Rice, very distressed by the situation in Ukraine to pressure the EU to urgently supply more weapons to Ukraine that may only have weeks to live, is proof that the US Administration also knows perfectly well what is happening in Ukraine like Larry. MSM is simply continuing its disinformation campaign. A propaganda campaign like no one had ever seen in the West. Just this. And right now there is nothing the West can do for Ukraine!
For me, the biggest problem for the world, and not just for Europe, is the fact that Ukraine has already handed over the country’s keys to Poland. Who already said a few months ago that he does not even recognize the borders of Ukraine. That as a result of his hatred of Russia, he has no problem handing over his house keys to Poland. Which happens to have already held a substantial part of western Ukraine and currently has around 200,000 men ready to enter Ukraine. We’ll see. Whether Lviv is called Lemberg again or not. Medved strangely today bet that yes!

Exactly. They know the reality.
MSM is simply continuing its disinformation campaign. A propaganda campaign like no one had ever seen in the West. — Paulo Guerra
While I agree with, and appreciate, your former comment, the latter is… inaccurate. The lead up to the Second World War, the Kennedy and King murders…
Many people, even some considered well-informed, seem not to understand that Eisenhower’s final warning upon leaving office referred to an immediate threat, realized November 1963. Jack may have fired Alan, but Alan had the last laugh and his mighty Wurlitzer plays on.
Everybody’s Scared
We should be.
No doubt Western “leaders” understand perfectly well what is happening in Ukraine. Yet, they persist in antagonizing Russia — shipping weapons to Ukraine and saying things like Russia must not be allowed to win.
How do these Western “leaders” plan to stop the Russians? When they run out of Ukrainians, will they send in the Poles or Romanians? A coalition of the willing, or some NATO wonderwaffens?
As for music? It’s a Mad World

I think an amphibious assault would not work. Too easy to pick off the troop transports.
I think they will move forward along the whole line and see where they punch through and exploit a breakthrough to see if they can get the AFU retreating.
If the lines break the weakened Ukies will get rolled up like a carpet.
Russia doesn’t need a Hail Mary pass. They are probably still wondering if NATO has some kind of intelligent trick up it’s sleeve.
The more options open, the more complicated for the enemy. Typical of Russian operational art. How Ukrowehrmacht is learning. Many Nazi officers on the Eastern Front went straight to the asylum!
There will be no amphibious assault, or push from Belarus. It’s just maskirovka. Ukro-NATO army knows it, but still has to divert some troops “just in case”.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_military_deception
Exactly. A push from Belarus? An arrow down? Where you can be attacked from the East, West, and South? Or a sea assault on Odessa? Whether it is a river crossing, or a sea assault. Anything involving water is a dandy and idiotic way to get your people killed. You only do those when you have ZERO other options. You remember those old ink blob maps from World War 2? Where the area held slowly grew like a spreading ink spill? That is what Russia will do. And of course, take advantage of idiotic Alamo’s like Bakhmut. Never get out of an enemy’s way when he is cutting his own throat.
However, if the Ukrainians are low and soldiers, then a multiple front attack might just force them to consolidate forces for a strong defense on one front, while leaving the others unadequately defended.
The look on the faces in that picture speaks 1000 words, in short, what Zelensky and his diabolic financiers are doing is ordering these men to their certain deaths!
What? Those are Chechen Kadyrovtsi.
Don’t spoil the story.
They are, Mediocrity.
Those beards look like Chechen style to me, and the outfit is off a bit. I had to do reverse image search. It’s an old photo. Zelensky was still in high heels when it was taken. 🙂

Now Putin’s message of months ago becomes clear. “You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
While I personally would never pass an opportunity or the chance of an opportunity to throw shade at pedo joe; the timing and nature of the classified info spill rings a bit hollow to me. Can’t really say why, it just does. Hopefully I am wrong.
On Jan 21st Kamala is eligible for a ten year presidential term.
Yeah right Bob. Like she would last 10 years in the spotlight. Every day a new stupidity for the nation to see. This is the equivalent in politics of “let them eat bugs”.
The Chechens are lightly armed specialist….spetsnaz….in fighting in built up areas and there are 9000 still in the combat zone. There is a rumour 80,000 Ukrainian forces are being pulled out of Bahkmut to avoid encirclement….back to the third line of defence…..I’m guessing the Wagner PMC who are also specialist in urban fighting will go forward as well after militia consolidate their gains. The amphibious ship leaving port is a bit confusing until we factor in it’s probably a distraction or possibly instead of landing mechanized marines the 4 Helo hangers could ferry the Marines behind the FEBA … regardless I think tempo is picking up now…it’s minus 14 Celsius with wind chill in Kiev right now….with little to no snow cover that frost will penetrate fast
For what I see from the Chechens , they are essentially dedicated to mop-up/cleaning missions. Wagner is more dedicated to assault duties.
This also explain why the Chechens weren’t seen much this day , anti-DRG patrolling on the back-lines is not very near the very active zero so it won’t get the spotlight. Important job anyway.
The conventional Army is mostly mechanized combined arms units centred around tanks….even naval infantry and airborne are mechanized so the only light infantry around..other than paratroopers that don’t have vehicles that are sucsceptible to dug in infantry in urban terrain with Short range anti armour weapons are these specialist groups….they must have Forward air controller and Forward Observation Officers to direct supportive fires and air but they assault and clear as they go otherwise they liable to get nasty surprised from the rear. FIBUA is slow and methodical fighting and resource intensive…and dangerous. I think the Akhmat are rotated off somewhere for a spell
we used to call them Shock troops and that surely describes the Ahkmat and Wagners.
Those are two things they are not short of.
Very instructive analyse Larry! If I would be Russia’s opposant army chief, this analyse would be like a frozen shower. But… fortunately I am only an ordinary observer to this world order earthquake.
Certainly, Russians have accurate information on the currently Ukrainian soldiers no. and available strike power. My guess, reding yours analyse, is “go all in”. Probably after they will take Bakhmut.
Even the actual tactic is war cost effective, the fact that now they grind untrained teenaged is psychologically destructive for Russians. The actual grind does not eliminate the nazi guys. My feeling is they will encircle as much as possible of the army and give them the possibility to surrender.
Gives us a chance to see just how far NATO is going to stick its neck out to help the Ukies and, more importantly, just how far Russia is going to go to put a stop to that.
Whatever Russia decides, NATO/US cannot interfere with the actions even with direct military action. The Poles cannot do anything as they have too little and too far to engage the Russians if they decided to go into Ukraine. Polish troops would have to traverse the entire length of Ukraine to Eastern Ukraine making them easy targets. Wonder Weapon after Wonder Weapon has not changed the course of the SMO. Trying shock and awe would wipe out NATO as an air power given Russia’s AD. One thing to do it against Iraq but another thing the Russians. No fly zone? Good luck with that.
Have no clue what NATO/UK/USA would do but maybe some terrorist home run like saturation bomb nuke plants? Ukr letting loose dirty bombs, more terrorist PR than anything else. At this point I keep recommending that Finnish PM Sanna challenge Putin to a twerking contest, winner take all. NATO’s only chance.
If Polish troops enter officialy, it will be only in western regions under some peacekeeping justification. Even they are not dumb enough to go all the way east.
NATO/UK/USA will try to do what they did in Syria. Occupy part of it, and keep the war going. Russians know that, and are deterring them with troops in Belarus, and long range missiles strikes.
For a fair fight get Sanna to face off against Zakharova, each doing their country’s folk dance.

Larry, the most convincing explanation from the Russian press is that Gerasimov, unlike Surovikin, has command over everything in the Russian armed forces, which includes many things not subject to Surovikin. So he can order around whatever is available anywhere in Russia if need be. Which obviously streamlines all important decisions.
An ominous sign for Ukraine.
Yes. Surovikin was controlling the SMO in Ukraine. As Medvedev (and others) have been saying, Russia sees this as a fight against NATO…. not Ukraine and, for that, they will need the overall Commander of their entire military…. Gerasimov.
Reporting has airborne troops making the advances north and south of Soledar. Still no sign of the mechanized component of the professional army. What’s odd is that the Verdun strategy appears to working here, and working big–if it’s dumb but it works, it’s not dumb I guess.
The Verdun strategy has worked for millennium.
It’s dumb but you are talking about the dumb. Send more bodies.
Stop it, you are so ignorant.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO3YygDbUhQ Larry i think you’re insights might be able to advise this ex Ukraine Battalion commander whistle blower to find safety and get his dirt on Kiev regime and the drug trafficking corruption money laundering and selling US weapons etc through Dubai. I think perhaps the only place he would be safe is in Russia i think he’s number one on SBU hit list and they will hit him all over the world and it may be next to impossible for him to get the evidence he has on Ukraine govt SBU & military corruption to the western world
At what point will NATO openly join the fray ?
At what point does the Pentagon openly send in a full field Army complete with 1,000 Aircraft ?
Any insights ?
NATO does not have the supply logistics capability to handle such an operation. This is industrial war – something NATO is simply not prepared for.
Of course NATO has the logistic capability; Gulf War I redux. (NATO just needs 9 months to build up ammo dumps and stores – that’s all. 🙀)
Seriously – does anyone think NATO politicians are just going to walk from this after a couple of years of attrition ?
No! They will run or be chased.
the great NATO will build non-existent factories to build non-existent weapons with non-existent energy by non-existent craftmen for a non-existent army. This could go on forever so I will just stop.
The whole purpose of the proxy war is not to openly join the fray.
1.000 aircraft will only be sent if NATO decides to bomb Serbia again. I belive that’s how much they used last time (against a dozen of MiG-29s). They didn’t send full field army to go with them, for some reason.
The photo should give pause to any Game boy military genius keyboard warrior .
The Buffalo Springfield song was about a protest outside a L.A. night club on Sunset Blvd. in the 60’s. So nothing too profound, even for the 60’s.
Wow, you do know how to Google the meaning of a song. Boy. what a gamer!
There is no way NATO will stomach the following scenes to be repeated:
Victory Parade Red Army 1945

Scroll to 10 min. Mark
Great video, thank you
Thanks a lot for the link.
The soul is greatly disturbed to tears. In 1945, many songs dedicated to the war years that we like to listen to today were not written yet. Only the victorious people can compose and sing such songs.
And you say: NATO, NATO, NATO…NATO will not allow it. We won’t even ask. It was not necessary to threaten us with dismemberment, destruction and remind young people of the Great Patriotic War. We remembered.
I doubted if we needed Odessa. That old Odessa is no more. But after the video on the link, I listened to a concert of military songs, among which there was a pre-war one dedicated to Odessa and Odessans: “And you’re a sailor, Mishka, a sailor doesn’t cry.” And everything in my soul fell into place – we will return Odessa.

Underneath Odessa there are miles of tunnels . Old Lime stone mines. Used in WW2 to fight and hide from the Nazi German troops
Larry & friends,
Just saw recent pix from Soledar, slavic mil tweeters. They’ll need some big front end loaders to move the bodies of dead Ukr soldiers. I think the Russian army is going to move fast & break things.
Big Serge offers quite a few suggestions on what comes next in this thread on Twitter

It’s worth taking a look at his substack channel to see his depth of military knowledge ..

This week I’ve watched a number of episodes of Soviet Storm which is a Russian documentary series on the eastern front in WW2.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJAEdLnZsgI&list=PLwGzY25TNHPC_SsXFcIH-ba0nWuNbHOM6&index=11
Episode 10, which is the link above, recounts the taking of Ukraine. What struck me was the similarities to situation right now. The Russian Federation appears to have finally punched through the heavily fortified line in the east. The ground is frozen (for a few weeks at least). The Ukrainians seem to be faltering. If they are going to make a huge push, this would seem like a good time.
Excellent analysis as always – Even I used to wonder what happened to the Akhmat special forces – So either they are maintaining absolute audio/ video silence or they are crouching in position to be unleashed in devastating fashion at an apt moment – I believe we are about to see the commencement of the largest combined arms operation of this century which will inevitably lead to the eventual dismantling of NATO and EU
The Eve Of Destruction: For the Ukraine, this should be their song: https://youtube.com/watch?v=IwYNWYaS3bI&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE
You mean walking with my cat named dog.
A much more fondly remembered song
Don’t rewrite history.
Sick of looking at your lying face.
Sick if looking at your sophomoric posts.
Great song. Love it. The music video is bizarre. But I think that song should be reserved for if/when the hypersonic ICBMs start launching.
Great song James, despite what Steeve thinks.
A cheap imitation of a Bob Dylan song.
His song “a Cat named Dog ” had some charm.
… an expert on Dylan, too.
Hey Larry! Finally found Phil Giraldi in an interview with Napolitano. The man is brilliant. And he goes clear back to Iran Contra, Ollie North, Casey and the rest of the Reagan cabal. He defined the whole scene back then. Fascinating. Here’s one of the YooTube links https://youtu.be/igmtngilWAk. Gets into some of it. The happenings of today run clear back to Iran Contra. Because it was “neat”, according to Oliver North in later congressional hearings. Screw the Boland Amendment, right? That was my proof right there that we no longer have civilian/Congressional/Senatorial control over anything these folks decide to do. Goes back 30 years or more, and it leads to the decay Martyanov detected in his books and all this brought us to Ukraine. Giraldi, when only the best will do. That guy is something else. I read his stuff on Unz, but hearing him on a podcast brings his thoughts to the fore. I highly recommend this one. https://youtu.be/igmtngilWAk
Yes. Phil is an old friend.
… not only brilliant, but also brave. He stood up to the tyrants.
One might say that Russia is “Takin’ Care Of Business “
Lol, like Elvis’ TCB belt buckle.
https://www.elvisbelts.com/product-page/crystal-tcb-buckle
Nice post.
Good video up from Andrei Martyanov on Industrial Warfare. He starts by making a comparison with how Zhukov played different roles at different right through the Great Patriotic War, in conjunction with other commanders. Just sensible deployment.
Also worth remembering that the masterful USN campaign orchestrated by Nimitz through 1944-5 deliberately rotated operational command of the fleet between Halsey and Spruance with different staffs but the same operational assets. When they rotated this did not mean that the other had underperformed. It simply enabled future operational planning and gave rest for commanders in a high stress situation.
So much western media and official commentary is just sheer fiction. Amazing that people get paid to write such nonsense. Our society really is in decline if so many well heeled careers can be made from such value destroying activity.
And while the reality of the evident defeat of Ukraine and NATO in the Donbass region unfolds, here in Portugal as well as in Europe, we hear the most pathetic and stupid propaganda ever announced. Silence regarding war reporting is interfered with by annoying and irritable people paid to give the opinion that Ukraine is winning the war. Attached is a song by a British band called «Fields». I hope you enjoy:

The Syrian intervention was a relatively small Operation… Surovikin was given overall command of the limited SMO in Ukraine…limited in scope…goals and resource outlay. His specialty is aerospace command and integration….I suggest the work load is about to increase and the operations tempo increased and his emphasis will again be aerospace forces whilst Gerasimov will be busy with what he knows well
I would submit, “Ballad of a thin Man” by Bob Dylan.
With Zelensky as Mr Jones.
Gerisimov … “could order full attacks from the North, South and East. He has other options as well.”
Yeah he does, he could attack from the West as well. Do a Big Arrow drive out of Belerus and attack Kiev from a westerly direction.
Hey, haven’t we seen that before? Lmao … Am I the only one that has fond memories of the Big Do Nothing Column that ran out gas to west of Kiev in the early stages of the war? Just sat there like a big lump in full view of Pentagon satellites, while driving my main gal Nancy Pelosi, absolutely batshit crazy.
“We need to bomb that motherf*cker now!!!”
Kill about 4 birds with that Big Arrow. Threaten to cut Ukraine in half and set up 100 mile wide DMZ far to the west of the Dnieper, if a 100 mile wide DMZ is what your all about. You also threaten Odessa from the north, which is how you traditionally threaten Odessa. You don’t threaten Odessa from the east, west or south, not really, there is too much water to to get across, namely in the form of rivers and seas.
On top this, a Big Arrow from Belerus would interdict all Ukie resupply routes coming in from Poland, which is where most of the Nato shit (I do mean shit) seems to come from, and last but not least, you begin the process of surrounding Kiev.
You know folks, sometime you gotta take the capitol. Yeah, I know, Napoleon in 1812. What a goofball, thought taking Moscow would end the hostilities, and it turned out it was just another cowtown, that the Russians of the time could easily live without.
But more often than not in war, taking a capitol is a big step toward victory, and sometimes, it ends the fight on the spot.
And again, by taking the capitol, I don’t mean you blast your way into the place and smash it all to hell.
You surround it, that’s all, and then you ask your enemy, in the politest way possible, to surrender.
And if he doesn’t march his army out under the white flag, you let starvation work is time honored psychic wiles, till every living creature, including the lowliest sewer rat, is willing to sell their soul to sign on whatever dotted line you put in front of him
Moscow wasn’t the capital of the Russian Empire in 1812 — Sankt-Peterburg was. But Moscow, then as now, is the spiritual Heart of Russia and is where the tsars were crowned. Napoleon wasn’t aiming to take either Moscow or Sankt-Peterburg: he intended to “demilitarize” the Russian army on the frontier, as did Hitler. The Russian army wouldn’t oblige and withdrew deeper into the Russian heartlands, the Grande Armée dogging it right up to Borodino Field, which is not “at the gates of Moscow” as some historians say and Buonaparte said: Borodino is situated some 90 miles west-south-west of the present Moscow city limits.
“Napoleon wasn’t aiming to take either Moscow or Sankt-Peterburg: he intended to “demilitarize” the Russian army on the frontier, as did Hitler.”
Indeed, and Napoleon, perhaps the most experienced battle captain of all-time, especially should have known better. Unless they are vital political or economic hubs, or forces of the enemy consolidate there, taking place names on a map is pointless.
One of the reasons I think this ends in Kiev, it will meet all three of those parameters. The best of what’s left of the Ukraine army will end up within its city walls, I have no doubt about that. I also think the political leadership of Ukraine is going to stick it out to bitter end, and remain in Kiev, and that includes Zelensky. I could be way off on this, obviously, the Ukraine “government,” if we can call it such, could flee to Lvov, or Warsaw, or London, or to one of Zelsensky’s mansions in Florida.
But I predicted one Day 1 of this SMO, that this war would finish in Kiev with a Death Ride of the UkoNazi state, because that’s just how Nazi’s roll, and I’m stickin’ with it.
Thanks for the history.

Who is Valery Gerasimov, appointed to command a special operation: “He has a tough commanding grip and the ability to make non-standard decisions”
Military observer Viktor Baranets spoke about Valery Gerasimov, who was appointed commander of the Joint Group of Russian Forces in the special operation zone
On January 11, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu appointed Army General Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff, commander of the Joint Group in the special operation zone in Ukraine. The former commander, Army General Sergei Surovikin , became one of Gerasimov’s deputies. Army General Oleg Salyukov (Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces) and Colonel-General Alexei Kim (Deputy Chief of the General Staff) became two more deputies .
Undoubtedly, the most “heavy” figure in these personnel reshuffles is the chief of the General Staff. And now it’s time to remember how he appeared at the head of the “brain trust” of the Russian Armed Forces.
Valery Vasilievich Gerasimov – from a family of hard workers. He made his first steps towards the top of his military career as a kid – at the Kazan Suvorov School (he graduated with honors). He also graduated from the Kazan Tank Command School with a gold medal, and then (also with honors) from the Academy of Armored Forces. Then – and the Academy of the General Staff.
He “trampled down” all the steps of growth in command and staff positions conscientiously (nowhere jumping over the line, which is especially appreciated among officers).
He started with a “flight” – platoon, commanded a company, battalion, regiment, division, army (moreover, the most belligerent – the 58th combined arms in the North Caucasus, which fought in the Second Chechen Company).
He was chief of staff of both the Far Eastern Military District and the North Caucasus.
He commanded the Leningrad and Moscow military districts.
In 2010, he became deputy chief of the General Staff . In this position, he “allowed” himself to speak out against the adventurous reforms of Minister of Defense Serdyukov. And he paid. For intractability, he was sent from Moscow for the third time (!) to command the military district again – this time the Central one.
After Serdyukov’s resignation, the new Defense Minister Shoigu presented Gerasimov’s candidacy for the post of Chief of the General Staff to the President. Putin approved this proposal on November 9, 2012.
Gerasimov was one of the developers of the special operation for the peaceful return of Crimea to Russia in 2014. Directed and developed the operations of our troops in Syria. He “had a hand” in the development of the current special operation in Ukraine.
Although on August 5, 2015, the military prosecutor’s office of Ukraine declared Gerasimov “the main ideologist of the war in Donbass.” He was declared “arrest in absentia”.
The Russian Defense Ministry responded by saying that this was a political provocation, and the Security Service of Ukraine was a “reserve of idiocy.”
Gerasimov – Hero of Russia and holder of 9 Soviet and Russian orders .
I had many occasions to meet and talk with the chief of the General Staff . But only once, with great difficulty, did I persuade him for an interview. He explained his frequent refusals as follows: “I need to manage the troops, and not give interviews.” He is an unusually modest and laconic man. But everyone who served or continues to serve under him unanimously says that he has a tough commanding grip and the ability to make non-standard decisions.
Yipee

Good looking people but not very bright
That’s funny, Al.
Thanks for the info.
Mr. Johnson- 78 yrs ago today the russians launched their final grand offensive on the eastern front . In a little over two weeks, the Red Army had advanced 300 miles (483 km) from the Vistula to the Oder, only 43 miles (69 km) from Berlin, which was undefended. However, Zhukov called a halt, owing to continued German resistance on his northern flank (Pomerania), and the advance on Berlin had to be delayed until April.
https://www.calendarz.com/public/on-this-day/january/12/world-war-ii-1
Right know in the ukraine believe that the ground if frozen enough for a large offensive. there would know be a 6 week window to finish this thing off once and for all before the spring mud season begins to hit which would last through march and april. The heavy weapons that nato is sending into the ukraine (ie.tanks, apcs, artillery) will not be use to the ukraine for a couple of months due to training their crews etc. In addition for all we know these weapons are being sent to the ukraine to be repositioned for NATO crews to just come in and operate them.
Mr. Johnson- i hope that russia just decides to finish this know once and for all. if they do not and the war drags on they will just cause their army more casulties in the end and give nato a chance to physically intervene in the spring and cause another syria stalemate. If putin decides to get in the way of this and start the ceasfire stuff again like he did in syria ; time for another younger aggressive guy to take over. When you have your boot on the enemies throat ; yu finish him off. yu do not let him get up, run away and fight another day.

It’s risky but I think necessary to take Kiev, and to fully cut the supply from the West. Without this the work continues, and more mercenaries, mobilized, and equipment will flow, and more time for drastic elevation by the west. I think the eventual line is the Dnieper, but NATO ability to escalate and prolong needs to be broken now. Wild card is Poland and preparing for that has happened in Belarus.
The video of the Victory Parade Red Army 1945 gave me a feel for the sheer size and scale of what the Ukies are potentially up against.
So far we’ve only been seeing a ‘special military operation’.
Could be we aint seen nothing yet.
Whatever turns you on.
You turn us off.
We keep failing to understand that Vladimir Vladimirovich actually means exactly what he says. He is very careful with his speech, unlike the sloppy rhetoric of the West, especially America. When he called this Ukraine incursion a ‘special military operation’ he meant every word.
You are absolutely right. The bright apparatchiks in D.C. and Brussels understand nothing and utter meaningless verbal flotsam, and they assumed, therefore that Putin was just uttering the same kind of stuff they say. As in, “Oh, so Putin says this is a ‘special military operation'” – har har. Of course that is just window dressing, he really means “war”. Well, they are about to see what war really is to Putin. It should clear up the misunderstanding wonderfully.
Last fall I was told that Ukraine will be finished in 2023 and will not exist on map and Zelensky will run away to UK or US. Meanwhile, for next 10 years several trading blocks will emerge, most global south will stand with Russia or act as intermediary? Who will stand with US? Small Canada? Collapsed rotting EU?
No one will stand with US. Many will still kneel in front of it (i.e. the Western World, and other occupied countries).
Brutus didn’t kill Caesar. Once he stabbed the emperor lots of senators joined in. That’s what killed Caesar. The US will be stabbed much more than it is stood with, and at some point we’ll say, “even you Brutus?”
I can’t see a massed invasion anywhere.
Too few Nazis or Military to kill, too many dead civilian photo opportunities for west, and far far too much risk for huge numbers of Russian troops as Ukraine’s army turns into sabateurs. It is essentially exactly the kind of fighting US/NATO wants, whereas 9 of the last 11 months have been exactly what Russia wants. Chasing Nazis in W Ukraine is a mugs game.
Best tactic (absent a credible Kiev negotiating party) is to make threats and then simply walk into Myolayiv, Odesa, and perhaps Kharkov oblasts.
Which would also correspond with naval movements, hiding the Chechens and stirrings in Belarus.
One more military genius.
See the lads in the photo ? Lead them.
You would not be worthy to lead them.Probably get fragged ala Viet Nam.
Fragged by his own live-in roo.
Michael, consider three fronts instead of one. Similar to streams forming from all directions to flood a valley, instead of an overflowing river.

In 1942 in Moscow a short animated (+ subtitled in English) film was made that satirizes Stalin’s enemies. It belonged to Stalin’s favorites.

In 3.31 minutes one gets the eerie feeling that perhaps not so much has changed since 1942…
Not bad. It remindes me of the one with Nazi Donald Duck.

I’m not a doctor, but stuff you have written on this page makes you look like you have some digital version of Tourette syndrome. A good therapy would probably be less commenting, and more cartoon watching. You could start with the ones linked here.
For those that find it hard to understand realignment of the commanders, here is graphical representation:

I’ve asking around in the virtuosphere about Akhmat Sila disappearance. No one knows anything about their whereabouts. They have fallen into a crack. It’s very odd to have the most media-attracting and photogenic bunch in the Russian militia become totally dark.
There are no Chechens. Lindsey Graham and the Wehrmacht Polish, Ustasha and gay gangs have already killed all the Chechens? Who leads the gang? Gay hero Graham? Leather and a bunch of gays? The German SS and SA were an absolute gays.
Adolf liked to secretly wear a skirt and even preferred to lick…
I am guessing instead of attacking Odessa directly they would come up the river to the west towards Transnistra. Why go full frontal when you can go around.
Something about anniversaries within the human psyche….between now and last year’s start of the war, Russia wants some concrete victories to show AND to let NATO know they are dead serious and will not fold….NATO and US being who they are, they will triple down…ultimately, a few nukes will need to detonate before NATO/US will even consider truce, very sad, but it is what it is w/ psychopaths and sociopaths…Having hypersonic nukes a few hundred miles from DC and actually using it is likely not in CIA’s frame work, and that will be the surprise move that shocks the world, esp all the US pro war people….reminds me of these people unwilling to heed warning of a hurricane and cries like a bitch when they find themselves underwater and facing imminent death due to their own stubborn behavior and stupidity…expecting 911 to save their dumb ass….Talking big in a comfy setting w/ all those guns/ammo is one thing, but many of same cannot survive 10 days if the local gas station has no gas for their huge pick ups….Americans will learn the hard way, life’s been too easy for too long…..Russians and Chinese have endured some serious hardships in the past 100 yrs vs America. The Europeans have completely forgotten and in some sort of amnesia w/ the past horrors……
You know something Tony…that’s actually not a bad idea.
There is all this talk about NATO putting nuke missiles in Ukraine, a 7 min. flight to Moscow.
Russia doesn’t need to put nuke missiles in Mexico to bomb D.C. They have these nuke missile platforms called submarines that can take up a position for a 7 min. flight to Washington.
I think a good sized majority of Americans would say good riddance to that cesspool on the Potomac, and without the Federal Government’s interference, have a pretty good life freed from its fascist government.
You know: getting back to what America was and can be again.
Imagine: no more Brandon, or Silly Kamal, or you name it – Mitch the Turtle and Shumer, et al. But give advance warning to Sen. Paul and Congresswoman Greene, and the few other real patriots.
One has to ask why the Russians building such a fortified defense line in the Donbass? Massive defensive lines. Might that be the anvil? So where does the hammer come from? Inquiring minds want to know.
As to Poland entering the conflict in western Ukraine, I believe that’s what the massive military buildup is in Belarus is for. Poland enters Ukraine and dies right next to the border.
You got me with enquiring minds
And lost me with Poland gets crushed.

As an Anglo with the best intentions, I find Eastern Europe hard to follow.
You’re entirely correct Larry. Peskov confirmed reason for appointments here: https://t.me/TASS_EN/27394
Scope of operation have expanded hence the need to appoint Gerasimov and rest of Generals.
You nailed this one Larry. Gerasimov is a clear sign the operation is growing and getting ready to kick off. No demotion. Escalation. And one point? I read various nitwits talking about how Ukraine has 27 million people so they will never run out of soldiers. Where do I start? They are already taking 16- and 60-year-olds. Look at ‘Murica. The US Army says our population is too lame, stoned, fat, and stupid to meet recruiting goals. Ukraine only has so “many” soldiers. And at some point, you run out. And this truly insane mini-Stalingrad in Bakhmut Zelensky put on, killed a lot of their existing soldiers. And an Army fights till the first soldier runs. I understand the Ukrainians have Nazi death squads that loiter behind the lines, (and away from any possible combat) to execute deserters. But at some time, you shoot them instead of facing the Russian artillery. Armies are very strong but brittle steel. They hold until they break. And we are getting near.
You should be ashamed.
Wondering if the Russian fleet movement might be a dispersal to prevent a ‘Pearl Harbor’ type attack on Sebastopol….
Oh yeah ,
Those Oriental torpedoes.
Very interesting read. I think it will be, increasingly, pressures from the home front that will more and more influence Russia’s decision making process. Looking forward to the next read.

WRT Larry’s “I believe it signals that Russia is setting the table for a major escalation in its operations to eliminate the Ukrainian military threat” — I agree, Larry, but also think it is intended as a pretty serious message to NATO.
To launch a major offensive in Uki-stan does not require a complete revamp of the command structure. Surovikin could handle the offence as much as he has been handling the defense so far.
So, something else is in play. One of the best analysts in Russia, Rostislav Ischenko, believes that this command structure change is a response and a signal to NATO that their preparations to send Poles to get slaughtered in the Uki-stan are fully anticipated and the Russian Military Command structure is now revamped in preparation for an “expanded” theater of war: Uki-stan + Berlarus + the 3Balts + Poland (Germany / 4th Reich next?).
Duda’s yesterday’s visit to 404 seems to be the last step before Poles jump into a suicide mission on the orders of their S&M Master (the Yanks). Ischenko believes they will not do this without posing a challenge to Russia (together with the local midgets – the 3balts) elsewhere (e.g. in Kaliningrad). Hence, once they do that, this will automatically mean an expansion of the war from 1 Theater (Ukistan) to 3-4 Theaters, including Baltic midgets and Poland. Hence the Command Structure of the Russian Military is now fully prepared for this scenario.
Surovikin will probably continue commanding the Ukistan theater, with 2 other deputies ready to undertake the new fronts. Gerasimov has been Surovikin’s boss so far and will continue to be his boss in the new situation as it develops. But now Gerasimov and 2 other deputies might get busy too smashing the European Nazis across several more theaters.
If Poles are dumb enough to do what the Yanks are pushing them to do and jump off head first from the cliff to that concrete slab down below, by 2025 there will be no Ukraine, no Poland, and no 3balts. It will all be Russian Federation.
and NATO will have to crawl behind the 1997 boarder, like Putin said it has to (that is if NATO does survive)…
How could Russia stop an attack to its own territory with long range missiles? Attacking one NATO member means ww3, no limits any more. Nukes.
Till now, only the West expanded this war. Do you think Russia wants this?
Would it make sense for Russia to start war with ground troops towards Europe and then wait for the missile counter attack?
I actually read it the opposite way, that Russia believes it has achieved (or is about to achieve) its strategic goals and is signaling that the SMO is being returned to political rather than strictly military control.
FWIW, I now think that one, perhaps significant part of the reasoning behind the command shuffle is the merging of Belarusian forces with Russia’s. Placing Belarus’ armed forces under a theatre commander wouldn’t fly in Minsk, so it had to be Gerasimov, through his Deputy of the General Staff, Col. General Kim.
Kim is known as a consummate organizer, and as the ranking Deputy will make sure the disparate forces and (perhaps) fronts are acting in concert and are getting what they need for the task(s) they’ve been assigned.
Furthermore, it seems to me that Surovikin’s October appointment was likely temporary, just as it was in Syria. Go in, straighten the mess out, change the tone and trajectory of the war, set the stage for the next phase. The 3 most significant aspects of Surovikin’s modification to the war was to [a] deplete the Ukrainian electrical infrastructure’s ability to support its military operations without inflicting unmanageable stress on the population, [b] shorten, consolidate and prepare defensive positions along the front line, and [c] draw the AFU out of the cities and other regions to Donbas where they can be processed most economically. With those tasks accomplished, he was returned to his normal duties, namely commanding the Russian Aerospace Forces.
That the shuffle occurred the day after Soledar’s, and by extension Ukraine’s Donbas 2nd line defence lines were officially breached suggests that that was his final task. He had tightened up the entire front line, built strong defences behind it, degraded UA’s combat power including its air defences, oversaw the massing of men and materiel in strategic locations and had generally shaped and prepared the battlefield for offensive operations. Mission accomplished, he returned to his normal duty.
Kim, via the General Staff will now coordinate General Salyukov’s ground forces, General Surovikin’s aerospace forces and the combined Belarusian & Russian ground forces in Belarus in the next stage of the war.
Every war has its own logic, which changes as the war progresses. The shuffle indicates the fluidity of Russia’s command structure, and the Russians’ overarching strategy of employing talent, resources and skill sets where they’re needed as the war evolves and matures. All the Western talk of “pro/de-motions” and “replacement” is rubbish, totally missing the point.
Perhaps the most consequential aspect of the shuffle is that it indicates a renewed(?) emphasis of the Gerasimov Doctrine. Under the Doctrine, military action should comprise about 1/5 of the total national effort in achieving its political goals. Military force is to be used to underpin even larger efforts in economics, internal & external socio-political efforts, direct & back-channel diplomacy, etc. Put another way, the military’s job is to give these other efforts the running room they need to achieve their goals and to prevent them from being disrupted by the militaries of adversarial states.
The shuffle, if I read it correctly, anticipates a big change in the works, and that the next phase won’t be easily anticipated or countered by Russia’s adversaries. Zaluzhnyi called Gerasimov “The smartest of men”. We’ll have to wait and see what he’s gonna do next, because I seriously doubt we’ll predict it. Or, if we do predict his near term moves, their longer term effects and meaning will escape us until they become obvious.
The ground is freezing in Ukraine, The Black Sea fleet set to sea last night. Bahkmut will fall sometime early next week, all the pieces are in place. That being said I would like to dedicate this next song to all the leaders in Keev or Keef. Whatever they are currently calling Kiev. This one goes out to Zelenski and all his little minions. Stay with us all night long till the morning drive right here on WKSN. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TV6WWT3zCEc&t=1s
Craig, for years i have been ordering Chicken Kiev.I absolutely refuse to order Chicken Keev or Chicken Keef!
It’s Queef.
Both sides are just so far apart from the negotiating table- I mean, both sides can’t even talk on the same facts!
That means either one will have to resolve it on their own terms first. In the current situation, it looks like Russia has the greater resolve. Might be for the good to bring this to an interim stop.
How far? I think RUS would like to create a DMZ- a no man’s land in between. I really don’t think RUS wants to go all the way to Lvov- too much Western influence there.
Retain the annexed regions, create a DMZ till say- the Dniepr.
Like Macgregor pointed out- if Russia occupy territories, they really have to Annex it. Otherwise, the locals will rat them out. This is one of the factors in the decision to give a referendum to the 4 oblasts.
I don’t know if there’s appetite to administer and manage any more oblasts. It’s a drain on resources and the political climate.
Going all the way to Odessa and then Transniesdstra land locks Ukraine and really puts a dagger to Europe. It kind of sets the stage for conflict and is hence a good bargaining chip.
It’ll be a slow boil- I think Russia will keep moving east if the death toll keeps piling and the West doesnt negotiate. Otherwise, they’ll stop with the current 4 oblasts.
As a Ukrainian soldier, I would pray to be taken as a POW.
I will take a chance and ask a stupid question to the expert community: why did the EU, the US cling to Ukraine with a bulldog grip?
One might think that Ukraine is the center of the universe, Ukrainians are the progenitors of Western civilization. This is far from the case. And the sun will not stop rising in the east if Ukraine loses part of the territory that was part of it in violation of historical laws.
I am the only person to comment at time of the appointment of General Surovikin that he will do his job and then go back to Aerospace Forces.
Everyone forgot Syria.
Mr John I only found your very nice and informative website today after watching your appearance on another channel. Excellent to read the work of an intellegince officer, congratulations dear.
Kind wishes and good health from Volgograd
Hello, Natalia!
I’m from Kazan.
I got to this site in the same way – I listened to Larry’s stream with Martyanov on PolitWera about 2 months ago.
I like everything here. I have hardly read Russian expert analysts since then
Yes, something is happening here.
Something that can’t be lied about.
Russia taking cities & territory can’t be lied about.
Let truth ring forth like an echoing Liberty Bell… the ring of truth will bring down the whole Ukraine Project.
For “Gera says 12 January 2023 at 14:47”
On one point the bideT family mafia and many of the Mordor on the Potomac corruptocrats have a lot of corruption hidden among the ukies.
They might prefer to see the place razed to the ground and a lot of the evidence gone and go “oh . . . oh . . . look what happened . . . oh, well . . .” looking stupid than taken intact and investigated.
Then there’s the matter of keeping eurabia under corruptocrats control and not going its own way making businesses with Russia and away from Venezuerica. The Venezuerican sabotage of the Nord Stream lines points to that.
Then there is the matter of old corruptocrats not being able to let go of the old ways of seeing Russia as the Sovietzilla that needs to be defeated and destroyed as part of a worldview that refuses do change with the times.
Then there is the matter of the surreptitious bio weapons facilities a la Wuhan in Ukraine that are said to be doing things forbidden to be done in Venezuerican territory but with Venezuerican money like maybe developing the next covidiocy scamdemic that, again maybe better destroyed than taken and investigated.
I wouldn’t put anything evil beyond the non-existent moral qualms of the leftoxenomorphs that rule Venezuerica.
The non-leftoxenomorph American people are the best in the world and America was the very shining point of the spear of human civilization hurtling towards a future in freedom and respect for the rights of the individual and ever growing prosperity and safety and comfort that from its very beginning spilt all over the planet making things so much better for the whole of humanity.
But we let the leftoxenomorph cockroaches grow and develop and reproduce and infect and corrupt and take over by fraud and now America, the late Constitutional Republic the United States of America (July 4th, 1776 – November 3rd, 2020) is dead.
All of those that vote d卐m☭nrat are guilty and the leftoxenomorphs deserve extinction.
We have to disinfect. Or surrender the very short future to them.
FRONT_TOWARD_ENEMY, thank you for the detailed answer.
But it seems to me that the listed reasons are second- and third-order derivatives of 2-3 fundamental reasons, which themselves can be differentiated into components.
This story with Ukraine did not begin under Biden, not under Trump, not under Obama, under whom the story developed. And not even under Bush.
For example, in order to achieve the goal of preserving the petrodollar as a reserve currency and US hegemony, it is logical to destroy the European energy market and unleash a big war in the Middle East and a bigger war in Europe. The fuse of the war in Europe was Ukraine (Yugoslavia was not enough).
Russia’s task is to prevent the development of events according to this plan and limit the war in Europe to the territory of Ukraine. Therefore, such a slow advance of Russian troops.
I do not pretend to be a deep analysis, but about such thoughts wander in my head.
Because the Russians are methodical and deliberate with their military operations and knowing they love the double envelopment; I can see them attaching from the north and south simultaneously driving the Ukraine forces to the center. Having set the fortifications and blocking force at their current positions; the main assault will come from the center with heavy armor, prepped with aerial bombardment and massive artillery barrages, followed closely by Infantry for mopping up and rear security.

The US Military admits it is running out of shit to send Ukraine. You can build transgender bathrooms and F35’s, or you can have a fighting force. We elected the first. Just the amount of handiwipes used to clean up after every secretarial visit to the 20,000 Generals and Admirals offices we have now is a huge budgetary amount.
Re: recent Duran chat with Larry;
Larry’s transmission is still sporadically getting garbled, losing maybe 10-20% of content – barely decipherable & only through context extrapolation. What’s up?
No idea. Something to do with Steamyard. I don’t have the problem with Zoom or Skype.
I don’t know. Any suggestions?
Standard stuff would be:
– plug LAN cable if wireless is used
– check upload rate and ping on sites like fast.com
– restart the computer and Internet connection
– close all unnecesary software, and monitor CPU usage
– sacrifice a goat
The best goats for the purpose are Ukrainian ones. Proved by time and experience – guaranteed not to baulk at the knife.
Just understood from an Ukrainian vlogger near Kiev (Ladushka), that many Ukrainians are very thankful to Russia having started the SMO, because now they can travel into Europe and don’t need to return. Before the SMO Ukraine de facto was closed off by the Ukrainian maffia & Ukrainian government whose border control + cashing in system made impossible for most of the UA citizens to leave their country. Ladushka expects that UA will loose millions of young people whose life dream consisted of getting out of this gulag.
Agree 100% that Russia will not “show it’s card hand” for all of NATOstan to assess. It’s quite possible that NATOstan is not showing it’s hand also.
Nonetheless, another 3 or 4 Soledar like successes will make it difficult to hide the inevitable conclusion–that Russia’s SMO will prevail in the end.
I would be very surprised if Russia’s future OPS did not include a feint action to compel the UKR Army to mass forces in response. Massed forces are easy pickings for attack aircraft and precision fires. (missiles, GPS guided artillery, drones etc.)
Russia does not need to launch a multi-division Winter Offensive to prevail…an economy of force strategy is working just fine. The long overdue addition of naval and attack air craft assets will be enough to finish the job–sooner rather than later I pray.
Larry & friends,
To return to natives & treaty rights: I live in Hazelton, BC, very far north & a lot of history for BC. White euros came here in 1860 for river access to northern gold mines. Big deal native place; 3 tribes fought over the best fishing (salmon). The natives weren’t assimilated here. Their culture survived & under Canadian law (Charter Rights), almost all the treaties are null & void. So the federal government has been drip feeding money & fishing rights to the natives, if the natives sued, they could overturn almost all land title in the country! The feds don’t want that. So everywhere along hiway 16 (Edmonton to Prince Rupert) the white euro economy is crashing (logs, fish & cattle), the natives are the ones who have money now! However, my essential observation is that there is no difference between an off reserve native (doesn’t like tribal politics) & white trailer trash (a lot of us live in trailers up here). Plus ca change, plus ca meme chose!
as history shows and the tv shows yellowstone, 1883 and 1923 point out if yu are not willing to fight to the death to keep what you have yu will lose it. White euro men worldwide besides the russians and eastern europeans for the most part have become cucks so we deserve to lose it all to the next group that moves in since we did nothing to protect our culture , heritage and way of life. All empires have been built on the ruins of the one before it.

ralph

I’m sure there’s internal politics in the Russian MoD, there always is. But Geramisov was Survokin’s superior all along so I don’t see a demotion. I agree that we’ll see a quickening of pace, but I don’t expect multiple big arrows. I think they’ll keep their powder pretty dry as a counter to NATO or any crazy ideas the Poles might get to.
My best guess is a more serious push along the whole front with a more concentrated offensive in the south. That would really threaten the Donbas front from a flank, increase strategic depth relative to Crimea, make gains in territories Russia considers part of Russia, and present the option to turn west.
All signs indicates that Ukraine is in vice and slowly will be crushing by moving russian forces from south, east and north. It won’t last long.
For me, reading the comments is just as interesting, in their own say, as is the essay by Larry. These comments seem to run the gamut of viewpoints on any given subject on any given day. You’ve done good LJ in creating this “blog”. I’ll continue to be a financial supporter for sure!

It was either 1966 or ’67 when I saw Buffalo Springfield with Neil Young playing at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach California. No cover, no stage, everyone on the same level just a band playing to a crowd of smashed hippies. They played ‘Something’s Happening’. Great show. Watched it from about 5 feet away.
Man, BTO had an amazing rhythm section with Fred Turner on bass and Robbie Bachman on drums. How coincidental is it that you post this today – and Robbie died last night??!! RIP….
Agree 100% on your assessment of the movement within the Ru Command Structure.
I also agree on your suggestion that the Ru Aero/Space Forces are about to become heavily involve in the future operation.
One reason, perhaps, why the Russians targeted and destroyed many a Ukie AD Systems last week.
Interesting times ahead… the ground is now frozen in the South, now able to support heavy armour, and the Black Sea Fleet is on the move….
‘Buffalo Springfield”…. NICE!
Yes, “something happen….”
Hey Larry, thanks for your bravery, inciteful commentary and always excellent humor. Sorry I’m a bit late on this, but I’ve been travelling and I’m catching up with your posts. For me, they’re a great morning boost with my two quad espressos. I guess this will be lost in the mists of cyberspace, but here’s a 60’s song that I think defines the moment, “Something in the air” by Thunderclap” Newman (You’ll see Buffalo Springfield in lights during the video):
