When I joined the CIA in September of 1985 it was my first exposure to classified information. Initially, I believed that the classification system was designed to prevent the public from knowing the “real truth” about what was happening in the world. In the months that followed I discovered that Top Secret, Special Compartmented Intelligence, appeared routinely on the front pages of the Washington Post and the New York Times.
What was the difference between leaked intelligence and the intel reports that did not appear in the press? It boiled down to something pretty simple — if there was disagreement over a particular policy, such as placing nuclear missiles in Europe, that intelligence leaked. Conversely, if there was consensus over a policy or program that information rarely leaked.
I raise this because of the spate of articles now appearing in the establishment media that are painting a dire, gloomy picture of Ukraine’s much ballyhooed counter offensive. That is not a coincidence nor is it the result of intrepid journalism. Support for Ukraine in Washington is starting to crumble. While the Austin, Milley, Blinken and Nuland crowd continue to insist that victory is just around the corner (all we need is more cow bell), others at the Pentagon, the CIA, the DNI and DIA see the writing on the wall spelling out a message of looming disaster.

Ukraine is running out of options in its counteroffensive against Russian forces, as Kiev’s time-window to gain advances is closing, the Washington Post has reported.
In an article on Sunday, the U.S. daily has claimed that Ukraine’s counteroffensive, which was launched in early June and was initially expected to see Kiev taking back significant territory, currently “shows signs of stalling.”
“Kiev’s advances remain isolated to a handful of villages, Russian troops are pushing forward in the north and a plan to train Ukrainian pilots on U.S.-made F-16s is delayed,” wrote the U.S. newspaper.

Then there are the blogs and internet content. Real Clear Defense has been generally pro-Ukraine with its coverage over the last 18 months but, unlike the Institute for the Study of War, has offered occasionally some solid analysis questioning Ukraine’s chances of vanquishing Russia. The latest piece on Real Clear Defense, Why Is Ukraine’s Counteroffensive Destined To Fail?, is a stark warning that the Fat Lady is starting to sing:
The much-anticipated Ukrainian counteroffensive was predicted to break through Russian echelon defenses swiftly, however, it turned into a stalemate. The operation was strategically planned and executed with misguided optimism, as Ukraine’s defense strategists underestimated the strength of the adversary. It was launched under the wishful thinking of the Ukrainian government assuming that Russian soldiers would desert their positions and run away from their trenches in the first waves of the counterattack. However, the opposite happened, and Russians are holding their positions, occasionally launching counterattacks, and not allowing Ukraine’s land forces to breach their defenses. Already two months have passed since the launch of the offensive and Ukraine’s military has yet to make significant gains. With the current situation, the highly anticipated counteroffensive is destined to fail.
These articles are the early warning signs, like a canary in a mine shaft, that finger pointing and the blame game will take center stage in Washington, London and Brussels starting in September about who lost Ukraine. I fully expect that the Biden Administration will continue to insist that Ukraine is fighting Russia to a standstill and all the West has to do is exercise patience and wait for Russia to crumble. This is delusional, but that has been the distinguishing mindset of the Biden/neo-con crowd.
Events on the ground in Ukraine will force a change in thinking. Members of Congress will be preoccupied increasingly with the 2024 election and are likely to refuse to endorse further weapon sales and massive financial aid to Ukraine. Backing a loser is something that most politicians refuse to do.
There are a number of potential events that will result in Ukraine being put on the back burner. Worsening relations between Washington and Beijing over Taiwan raises the risk of a military conflict in the South China Sea. How about a financial crisis? October historically is the month when economic chaos explodes “unexpectedly” on Wall Street. If that occurs then Ukraine’s chances of getting more aid will vanish.
So, pay attention to the headlines and articles, especially those citing unnamed military or intelligence sources. That will tell you which way the wind is blowing.

The press is not free to pick up stories from unauthorized leaks from disgruntled intel operatives IMO. It is still voice of empire and the deep state.

The US airlifted KMT troops from central China to Manchuria, and sent 50,000 US troops into the Hubei and Shandong province of China.

The US actually used the defeated Japanese army (under whose boot the Chinese people had suffered so terribly) to keep fighting in China.

Chiang Kai-shek backed by US nuclear forces never accepted a defeat by the PLA in Taiwan, and claimed sovereignty over the island of Taiwan.
That is why the US and UK to this day is upholding Chiang Kai-shek´s “claimed sovereignty” over Taiwan.

However, Ljubenković is a Serbian surname, so if it really is a Serb, an explanation is needed. Today, Serbia is the island of freedom in Europe, the only country that has not imposed sanctions on Russia, there are media in Serbia that are openly pro-Russian, the public is at least 80% on the side of Russia. The reason is the traditional ties of Serbs and Russians, but even more the hypocrisy of the West, which today defends the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and 23 years ago, NATO bombs destroyed the international order and Serbia was robbed of Kosovo, even later internationally recognized that Frankenstein state.
Serbia is an unsolvable enigma for the West. In order to change the opinion of the public in Serbia, the West gives incredible money to pro-NATO media, pro-NATO non-governmental organizations, pro-Western politicians… Everything is in vain. The more money the West invests in the anti-Russian campaign, the more the people in Serbia are on Russia’s side. Of course, the West wants to pay bills, so many of those anti-Russian non-governmental organizations and individuals are now panicking that they will run out of funding. I assume that Ljubenković belongs to that group.

Anyone paying attention to the whole “sanctions against Russia” escapade would notice Putin plays by the rules, even ones he doesn’t agree with. So yes, Russia is paying it’s IMF/World Bank debts… but in rubles. If the banksters don’t want rubles, they can go convert them on the open market, if the sanction rules don’t prevent it. (hoist by their own petard as my Mom used to say) It is the US/ZATO that decided to cut Russia off from SWIFT etc., so it is US/ZATO’s problem to deal with that issue. And in case you hadn’t noticed, the US/ZATO/Rothschild Class can’t force Russia to do anything these days. See how the oil “price ceiling” worked out?
All that the sanctions did was get Russia to become virtually self-sufficient on a faster timescale than would have been possible without the sanctions. The Russian people understand the irrational, propaganda-driven hatred the US/ZATO/NeoCon-Rothschild Class feels towards them, it is taught there that “the West” has been trying to invade or take over Russia for hundreds of years. So they rolled up their sleeves and told the US “screw you and the worthless $dollar you rode in on”.
And the result is the BRICS admitting former petrodollar foundational participant, Saudi Arabia. When a family regime that has profited for nearly 100 years from UK/US “protection” walks away, you know the Anglo/US Empire is in real trouble. Oh ya, and the Arabian Peninsula and Iran (Persia) were making deals with the Brits via the East India Company back to the early 1600s. All gone, as the current British throne and gov’t can’t adjust to the fact THEY ARE NOT IN CHARGE ANYMORE.
The US won’t be allowed to join the BRICS as a full-right member… ever. Maybe allowed to do some side deals with members, but NO WAY will the US, UK or even Canada be allowed any policy-making power. The US/UK/Rothschild central banking cabal is why BRICS has developed beyond an informal “club” to a policy-making organization. Sure G-S would try to insinuate themselves at the earliest opportunity, but they have been scuppered by their own obvious greed, double-dealing and hubris. Soon, Ukraine will drop completely out of “the news”. None of it matters because even if the current entire line of defense crumbles, the “Ukraine” will simply move back and reform somewhere further back.
Even if Russia manages to take all of Novorrosyia by next Spring and occupy every inch of it, the war will not end.
It’s obvious to me that US/NATO has accepted they will never get those territories back, the current “open NATO” huddle, the was 27, now 30 nations signing “security guarantees” , show absolutely zero intent on any “peace” thing.
The new plan will be a “low intensity” conflict to go on for years, a volley of disruption here and there, F16s to be shot down, any and every mechanism to “add cost” to Russia will be utilized for years. Like the 8 years before.
Unless Russia is willing to mobilize 1.5 million to take ALL of Ukraine, this will go on like Yemen, Syria & Libya. The idea that US/NATO will “run out” of equipment to send, is pretty ridiculous, they’ll always find something somewhere.
The new “tactic” will be steady “disruption” and “defense”, no further “offensive” moves, just a steady flow of weapons and manpower (and terrorist tactics) for years.
I see no “big arrow” or major mobilization on Russia’s part to change this outcome. Occasionally at Christmas, Russia may agree to a 72 hour ceasefire or some such thing, but no other “ceasefire” or any “peace” deal will be implemented for years.
There’s no indication after this “failed counter offensive” of anything other than reforming the line, new mobilization, and 30 willing countries to contribute financially & with weapons for a long haul of “weakening Russia”.
All of it will drop off to page 4 in the media by February 2024, but it will not “end”.

The articles describing Ukraine’s offensive as “stalling” or at a “standstill” are misrepresenting the situation. While Ukraine’s forces are making little headway, they are suffering huge casualties. In other words, they are getting hammered for their efforts. I don’t know if any of you have ever seen this before, but it is a talk given by a man(whose name currently escapes me) to US military personnel regarding Modern Russian Military Power and specifically relating it to Ukraine. This talk was given prior to the Russian SMO but I am not sure of the date. Whoever the man is, he is apparently connected to retired General Wesley Clark. He and General Clarke traveled to Ukraine and witnessed Russia’s use of drones(artillery was fired in their direction not 10 minutes after they saw a Russian drone overhead) He also spoke at length about the proficiency of Russian electronic warfare(EW) and about an incident in 2014 where Russian and Ukrainian forces came into contact and the Russians destroyed 2 Ukrainian battalions in under 5 minutes using their TOR thermobaric weapons. I found it a very interesting talk and recommend a listen to anyone interested. I’d also be curious if Larry knows who the speaker is.
