That was a pleasant surprise. In contrast to CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and the BBC, the producers for this Press TV program did not do a pre-interview to determine what I was going to say. Go figure — an Iranian-funded television program that does not require one to pledge allegiance to the views of the Iranian Government.
There was a time in the United States when you could see an exchange like the following on most of the cable and network stations. Not anymore. Can those of you who watch American TV news remember the last time you saw someone opposed to the U.S. policy in Ukraine allowed to debate the issue? Doug MacGregor used to get an occasional interview with Tucker, but that ended when Tucker was fired.

As usual, the West, consistent with its colonialist mindset, rarely follows native pronunciations but instead applies its own rules without even giving the native language the respect it deserves. Further, the word’s pronunciation is even worse than that – it is completely trashed when we say “You crane” rather than “U cry een a”. Turkey instead of Turkiye. Suppose you are a viewer who knows nothing of this matter or, worse, one whose only knowledge comes from the legacy media and Western politicians and mainstream commentators.
How would that person have judged the debate?
How did the participants present their respective case/argument? Was it clear what was that case? Did they represent a side or were they speaking neutrally? What were the facts? *How* were they presented? Were there any personal attacks, name calling, etc? Did they let the other party put their view without interjecting? And so on.
Obviously, I and the others at this blog are ‘on side.’ The interviews & round table discussions I’ve seen with you have always been aligned with your opinion and never antithetical let alone hostile. However, please consider how you present in an adversarial environment.

I don’t consider it a mistake, per se. I find it normal that different languages use different names for countries. USA is not called USA in other languages, just like Germany is not called Germany by everyone (especially Germans).
The problem here lies in English language pronunciation rules, or lack of them. Some reform should have beed done few centuries ago. Now it’s to late.
Not being able to pronounce country’s name is unseparable from wanting-to-bomb-it (just like not being able to find it on a map). Any understanding of local language, and culture, and people, would make you not want to kill them all for oil and democracy.
