Most Western analysts were popping champagne corks today proclaiming Israel’s “massive” victory over Iran’s 14 April combined drone, cruise missile and ballistic missile attack on targets in Israel. I don’t know if they are really this blind to what happened or are willing participants in a psychological operation to persuade Israel that it had a victory and does not need to escalate. Regardless, let’s deal with the facts.
Iran told the United States and several neighboring countries exactly what it was going to do. We know this thanks to an article in the Financial Times published on April 12 — 36 hours before Iran launched.
Iran has signalled to allies and western nations that it will retaliate against a suspected Israeli air strike on its Damascus consulate in a “calibrated” manner to keep an all-out regional conflict at bay, according to officials briefed on the talks.
Tehran is unlikely to target Israeli diplomatic facilities in the region, said an official briefed on talks between Iran and Oman, the Gulf state that has often facilitated back-channel diplomacy between Tehran and Washington.
US intelligence on any impending attack appears to be detailed and specific, according to the officials briefed on the situation, giving Israel a window to prepare its defences. . . .
Even a direct attack in Israeli territory would probably be “calibrated” in a manner that would show a robust response, without triggering an Israeli retaliation that would lead to Iranian assets in Lebanon and Syria being decimated, the western official said, while warning that a miscalculation is possible.
Iran’s goal was to demonstrate it could hit Israel if it wanted to, but was providing advance warning to give the Israelis time to protect personnel in order to minimize casualties. Iran was not trying to cause mass casualties.
Reuters provided confirmation today of the Financial Times reporting:
Turkish, Jordanian and Iraqi officials said on Sunday that Iran gave wide notice days before its drone and missile attack on Israel, but U.S. officials said Tehran did not warn Washington and that it was aiming to cause significant damage. . . .
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Sunday that Iran gave neighbouring countries and Israel’s ally the United States 72 hours’ notice it would launch the strikes.
Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said it had spoken to both Washington and Tehran before the attack, adding it had conveyed messages as an intermediary to be sure reactions were proportionate.
“Iran said the reaction would be a response to Israel’s attack on its embassy in Damascus and that it would not go beyond this. We were aware of the possibilities. The developments were not a surprise,” said a Turkish diplomatic source.
Not surprisingly, Biden officials are vehemently denying they had advanced warning according to the Reuters report:
“That is absolutely not true,” the official said. “They did not give a notification, nor did they give any sense of … ‘these will be the targets, so evacuate them.'”
Tehran sent the United States a message only after the strikes began and the intent was to be “highly destructive” said the official, adding that Iran’s claim of a widespread warning may be an attempt to compensate for the lack of any major damage from the attack.
“We received a message from the Iranians as this was ongoing, through the Swiss. This was basically suggesting that they were finished after this, but it was still an ongoing attack. So that was (their) message to us,” the U.S. official said.
Statements from U.S. officials can no longer be accepted as accurate given their established history of lying. This is a “cover-my-ass” denial. Can you imagine the political outrage that would ensue if the Biden team copped to the fact that they had forewarning from Iran? Do you think that the Turkish and Jordanian officials did not communicate to Washington what they had been told? Of course not.
Iran’s attack in the early morning hours of Sunday was symbolic retaliation. The mullahs and IRGC commanders put Israel on notice that any further attacks on Iran, especially Iranian territory, will be answered by Iranian attacks on Israel. Iran demonstrated a remarkably sophisticated attack using three different weapon systems — drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. They did not use their most advanced, sophisticated weaponry.
The drones were used in the same way that pawns are employed in a chess match — draw out the opponent and create vulnerabilities. Israel used up over 700 Iron Dome missiles in countering Iran’s 300 plus drones. Why? You normally fire two Iron Dome missiles per target to ensure a hit. Ditto for the cruise missiles.
What we know for a fact is that most of the ballistic missiles hit their targets in Israel. Here is a video of one of the strikes. Iran demonstrated a remarkably sophisticated capabilitiy — i.e., a maneuverable warhead. Notice that the inbound Iranian missile evades the Israeli interceptor and strikes the target. Wow!!
Scott Ritter summed it up best with this Xwitter (pronounced Shitter):
The U.S. has an advanced AN/TPY-2 X-band radar stationed at Har Qeren, in the Negev desert. Its mission is to detect Iranian missile launches, and pass targeting data to Israeli Arrow and David’s Sling and U.S. THAAD ABM batteries deployed to protect sensitive Israeli sites, including Dimona and the Nevatim and Ramon air bases.
Iranian missiles struck both Nevatim and Ramon air bases. The best surveillance radar in the world, working in concert with the most sophisticated anti-missile defenses in the world, were impotent in the face of the Iranian attack.
For all those trying to spin yesterday’s events as an Israeli victory, chew on that fact: The best missile defense system in the world could not protect the sites they were tasked with protecting from attacks by Iranian missiles.
Who has deterrence supremacy? It ain’t Israel.
I agree with Scott. While Israel and its Western allies proved adept at shooting down slow moving drones, they failed when it came to defeating ballistic missiles armed with a conventional explosive warhead.
We are now in the wait-and-see mode. There are contradictory signals out of Israel. Some insist Israel’s retaliation is imminent. Others suggest there will be no retaliation. I believe Israel is under the control of some genuine crazies and will try to hit an Iranian oil facility or military installation in Iran. When they do that Iran will make good on its promise and will launch a much larger, more devastating attack on Israeli military and intelligence targets. This is a fight Israel cannot win. If it chooses to pursue this course of action it will lead to the unraveling of its military effort to defeat Hamas and rescue any hostages still alive.
I discussed the aftermath of Israel’s attack with the Judge during our regularly scheduled Monday morning chat.
Thank you for another no BS informative update video on Israel and Iran. Probably won’t happen but Johnson for Director of National Intelligence.
Larry Johnson for CIA Director. Release all the Kennedy assassination files, please. And don’t stop there. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
It is indeed excellent work ! I used it in recent News Forensics article here: https://julianmacfarlane.substack.com/p/israel-the-road-to-masada. Kudos Larry. Once again.
The difficulty with appointing Larry DNI is that he might not be able to find any National Intelligence to direct.
Iran seems to be doing everything by the book defending their actions. Their opponents don’t behave with the same appropriate notice. Check
Japan and China are not purchasing US debt paper as they have in the past and the interest rates may never go down if the dollar is involved. The Federal Reseve is paying out to banks at a higher rate than it makes with revenue and it is moves to gigaprinting. JPM’s owners are cashing out a lot of stock just before the “buyback blackout period” where buy backs are prohibited to everyone but the government and any of their friends. And paper money is only credit. Interesting times.
Evidently, abundant evidence has already emerged, in addition to several experts on missiles, as well as their impacts on Israel, which was a deterrent attack, demonstrating who controls the military escalation today in the Middle East. The best definition of the greatest military power. Of region. Like Russia in Europe.
Just like the attack on the US base in Iraq after Trump ordered the assassination of Soleimani. At the time, the US said copy and the conflict ended, functioning as a deterrent attack. For which both warring parties are always needed like for the Tango.
Yesterday we got the idea that Israel wouldn’t retaliate under pressure from the US but Israel’s problem is the same as the UA’s, they are both defeated and desperate states, capable of anything and with nothing to lose. States and regimes, as is also the case of Netanyahu, on top of that under pressure of the most extremist Jews
Fortunately for the world and regardless of Washington’s lies about Iran’s warning – to several nations – it appears that the world’s greatest powers, including the US, doesn’t want Armagadeon. We will see. If Israel retaliates, it could very well disappear from the map, besides the loss of the title of greatest military power in the region. A condition that can very well be unbearable for Zionists and have the consequence of trying to push the world towards WWIII. As the comedian in Kiev would also like.
Everyone on Earth should be extremely concerned about what the psychotics in Israel might do if cornered with annihilation, and that is to use The Samson Option with their 300-400 nuclear weapons launched by sea and air to decapitate all foreign adversaries (including the U.S. if we refuse to help them).
This is worse than the Cuban Missile Crises. At least then we had two sane leaders willing to negotiate an end to the problem.
This is a real freakin’ nightmare folks.
The “Samson” option is another threat scenario that will hold up to scrutiny as well as the “Iron Dome”.
The whole criminal enterprise is based on projecting force but one the man behind the curtain is found out, that basis is gone.
One of the next strikes to Israel will take out the nuclear offensive facilities and then Israel will have to come clean about their illegal nukes.
You might as well stop worrying and embrance life. If you die because of one of those criminal idiots, the worrying isn’t going to help. So enjoy, while it lasts – it might be much longer than you think 😉

Agreed.
Above all, a great proof of those who want peace in the Middle East and those who want war.
Well said.
Agreed.
CIA ‘Legend’ propaganda is too deep to tolerate. (Legend: the false version of events for public consumption; e.g., lone gunman is the Legend of JFK assassination, bin Laden is the Legend of Nine-Eleven Op, Wuhan lab is the Legend of covid. I.e, what agents are allowed to say.)
And today, street crowds blocking traffic MUST be reported as “pro-Palestinian.” Bullsh!t. They are anti-Israel crowds.
Any times I was ever moved to join a protest crowd I was there opposed to some contention; NOT in support of its victim.
In war protests years ago, I was NOT ‘pro-Vietnam,’ I was anti-Despotic USA.
Anti-Israel protesters swarmed in streets today.
That’s the headline when you cut out CIA bullsh!t in the MSM.
Agree completely.
most still swallow it hook, line and sinker
until that stops it will go on
Let’s just say that everything coming out of DC regarding any of this (or just about anything now) is:
1- lying
2- delusions
3- both
All the rest is just details.
May you live in interesting times.
Beam me up, Scotty!
What’s goin’ on?
Those old enough will remember Ronald Raygun’s “Strategic Defense Initiative” (SDI) aka Star Wars. The aim was to protect against a Soviet nuclear ICBM attack.
From memory, all the technical analyses at time (at least those I read) concluded that SDI would never work. There were many scientific and technological reasons/hurdles then (as now) but the overarching problem, simply put, is that the advantage in a missile/antimissile battle lies always with the attacker. In order to not be damaged or destroyed, the defender must shoot down every incoming missile (or these days, drone). As long as the attacker does not run our of missiles/drones, some will get through since no system can guarantee 100% hits.
As Larry and others point out, two defending missiles are usually launched against incoming. In the current situation, the defending missiles are expensive and the incoming drones (at least) are cheap and numerous. Advantage attacker.
Of course, this does not address hypersonic weapons which, we are told, are unstoppable with current technologies. Even if expensive compared to cruise missiles and only available in fewer numbers, they have a strategic role in the capacity to destroy high-value targets like a nuclear reactor, or aircraft carrier, or seat of government. Big advantage attacker.
Unfortunately, it appears the Israeli leadership is dumb and/or crazy enough to escalate. They would be better served remembering Marvin Gaye:
“Father father
We don’t need to escalate,
War is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate.”
It is the hate that is the source of this.
and it is this hate that will be the end of Israel, NATO, US, etc.
they will escalate themselves out of existence, while those who suffered by their actions slowly see a way out.
i think there is a reason why Iran, RU, China stick so carefully to UN articles and international law. When this is over, everyone who aided and abetted the rules based order will be taken out. And that includes the schemers, string pullers and financiers. Because the RBO is not n contradiction of international law and has brought unspeakable suffering over the world. The case that SA brought so masterfully shows that there is no way out. Right now , the courts are either corrupt or they have no power. But post conflict, this will change and that will be the basis for going forward somewhat peacefully. As Lavrov said, “I don’t care what the West thinks, all I care about is international law”.
this is also the reason why it is one baby step at a time – if forces those on the fence to show their hand, which will be their eventual undoing. And it is the safest way to avoid Armageddon. It won’t be. It will be Masada II and the Führerbunker in Kiew, DC and London.
Because the RBO is in contradiction of international law and has brought unspeakable suffering over the world

Yes, Star Wars was never going to work. Actually it was never supposed to work, it was just a front for secret UFO research, which has failed. Israeli scientists have failed. They were supposed to find a way to neutralise radioactivity, which apparently aliens can do, so they could nuke Gaza with no harm to themselves.
The Marvin Gaye at the end (I missed the reference at the start) gave me a lump in my throat. We thought we won when Vietnam ended. And for many, that’s all it was about: avoiding the draft. I married two draft dodgers (consecutively) so I don’t judge.
Innocence and naiveté are expensive luxuries for the privileged, or so I’ve learned. This time we have to make it a fight to the death, because that’s what it is. TPTB are monsters… sadistic, demented, psychotic, monsters.
But the population votes them in repeatedly, follows their corporate fellow travellers’ orders down the management chain of command. Their mantra, “Just vote for me, buy the stocks, we’ll take responsibility for what happens.”
The MIC/Pentagon is just a domestic job-creation program, Congress Critters openly admit it now. Who cares who dies at the demand-creation end of that business model? 500,000 dead Iraqi children, 30,000 dead Gazans and 500,000 dead Ukrainian soldiers were “worth it”, just ask Albright, Bribe’em/Nutty-yahoo, Zelensky/Graham respectively. And of course Raytheon, Boeing, GM etc… and their “it wasn’t me” shareholders.
If people cared as much about knowing about the politicians they voted for and the corporatists who ran the economy, as they do about their sports teams/players and celebrity icons, the world would be a far better place.
Pay no attention to the men and women behind the curtain… These are not the Oligarchs you’re looking for.
It is interesting that you should bring up star wars. The difference between SDI and other Anti Missile Defense technologies was in the proposed use of Directed Energy Weapons such as high power lasers to shoot down incoming missiles. The cost of shooing down a missile would then not be cost of the missile but the cost of one discharge of the weapon. A lot of scientific research was done. But the conclusion was that while the technology was feasible, it made no military sense. The bottle neck was low repetition rate at the energy level required for causing significant damage mainly because of material science limitations.
I once visited a branch of the company Intellectual Ventures (in 2009), which specializes in innovative solutions. There, I was told about using the Star Wars technology for control of mosquitoes by selectively destroying female mosquitoes. They said the technology had been field tested and was awaiting customers.
Iran was prepared to swallow this disagreeable spin, ONCE, to retain the righteousness of its own position and avoid escalation. That was agreed with its own allies.
It was also agreed that it will not be expected to do that TWICE.
Israel wants to chew on that if it wants any citizens left. They are already leaving in droves. There is more than one way to skin a cat.
Yup
once a critical mass is gone, it will be very difficult to keep this up.
1000 cuts
It will most likely be the Non-Zionists and moderate Jews leaving, the hard-core brainwashed Zionists will remain. Maybe that was part of Iran’s plan, get Israelis to self-select so when there are casualties, Iran can say “they were clearly warned and chose to stay”. Assuming Nutty-yahoo doesn’t close the ports and airports to trap all Israelis as human shields.
If the crazies in the Israeli cabinet decide to attack Iran, I can see only one possible end.
Well, I just looked up from some wordsmithing and saw that ZeroHedge are now headlining: “Israel Says Readying ‘Imminent’ Attack On Iran As Airlines Cancel Flights To Region” (Tuesday, Apr 16, 2024 – 01:29 AM)
“Update(1329ET): It appears things are moving fast, via Israel’s Channel 12 broadcaster, following the earlier conclusion of Israel’s War Cabinet meeting: …”
Looks like a deadly game of chicken is now in progress.
well, will be interesting to see how “alone” they will be this time, or whether the ‘muricans and limeys will be playing along.
If humanity survives this third world war, the world will look completely different afterwards. Michael Hudson comes to the same conclusion as I do.
“And the irony in all this is that the United States is creating just the opposite of what it wanted to do. I mean, obviously, while this is happening in Gaza, most of the global majority that we’ve spoken before, the world outside of NATO, America and Europe, are appalled. And the only way of stopping what’s happening in Gaza happening in the rest of the world is to create an alternative to the United Nations, an alternative to the World Bank, to the IMF, an alternative to all the organizations that the United States has controlled to turn the whole rest of the world into Gaza, if it can.”

This will not happen today or tomorrow. But the countries that break away from the predatory and murderous and dying empire, these countries must logically break away from the institutions ruled by it.

When I woke up from my drug: “mainstream media”, it was the incomprehensible horror committed by the murderers of the West in Syria that was responsible for this. 2013/2014 was my final moment of awakening.

Until late summer 2023, I still had a small hope that at least the Europeans would come to their senses. But that hope was very slim anyway. This war is a fight for survival. The oligarchy in the USA will never accept that it can no longer rule and plunder the planet at will. This caste is like cancer and this cancer has metastasized the entire body. In government administration, media, education, sciences, culture, institutions of Christian religions, sports, finance, the world organizations. This cancer can no longer be cured. This includes in particular the society of the USA, including some of its vassals. In Europe there is still a large middle class economy. A chance for a cure. But this has been killed at top speed by “Black Rock & Co.” since 2020.
Russia and China have been the unsolved problem so far. These emerging powers are the counterforce to the ambitions of the US oligarchy. The USA makes no secret of the fact that it wants to destroy the existence of Russia and China. Iran, isolated and permanently threatened, seized its chance to find protection and prospects in a partnership with Russia and China. This war will either end with the destruction of the statehood of Russia and China, or with the fall of the empire. Anyone who wants to can place bets now.
The population of the USA must become aware of the nature of empire. An almost impossible task. Israel is a product of the defunct British Empire and the USA. Israel has already crossed the Rubicon with its genocide in Gaza. It will most likely end with the end of the state of “Israel”.
L. Johnson’s blog is always the first thing I read in the morning. The rest of my reading is then international and wide-ranging. Some article recommendations.

The story of a “Jewish world conspiracy” is an ancient tale. I have never believed it. As a reminder, Jews are also people like “you” and “me”. The driving forces are not a people scattered around the world since antiquity. The source and driving forces of all developments are SYSTEMIC and now in the final manifestation of oligarchy.
It isn’t “The Jews”, its a FEW people who take cover as Jews. Those FEW Jews aren’t really Zionists either, claiming that mantle is just another means to an end.
The “End” they seek?… well they’ve told the world, plain as day… “you will own nothing”. The corollary of which is… They will own everything. Or at least control it in such a manner as they might as well own it. Iraq, Gaza and Ukraine were just the population-reduction appetizers, the main course is the slow elimination of the “useless class”. Getting the warmongers among us to do their dirty work.
Climate Change(tm) is just the propaganda lie/excuse justifying population reduction, peddled to keep the woke-enviro-warriors thinking they are saving the planet from dreaded CO2… y’know, that stuff that makes plants grow?
So when you see posts cheering on the bloodshed on either side, think “helping to do the Rothschild’s dirty work”. War should be the last resort, not the first.
“Climate Change….”
Hooray. I don’t always agree with what you say in fact mostly I don’t. But l think you are dead right about this. The lie isn’t that there isn’t climate change, of course there is. The lie is that it is caused by human activity and the sky is about to fall on our heads. Climate has always changed. Two thousand years ago the Romans were able to grow grapes in England as far north as Yorkshire. They can’t do that today. Ergo it was warmer then than now. The truth is well set out in videos by Professor Ian Plimer. Check it out.
Thank you especially for the link to Michael Hudson, a strong truth teller even more than
LJ if that’s possible. I first learned about him when I
followed The Saker, Andrey R. I must say that I am equally
repulsed and nauseated as was his hostess Ania.
And enraged to the point that I fervently pray for the
wipe out of these evil Zionists who have been asking for it and will probably succeed in their ugly
Satanic suicidal mission. More power to the Iranians and Best Wishes in their coming escalation. By removing
the Genocidists they will definitely make the world better for the rest of us.
It is said history does not repeat but it rhymes. The same trick has been pulled with Iran as was pulled with Russia which was persuaded to appear to back down in Ukraine to get a life saving peace to everyone’s better end only for the west to start hooting about how weak Russia was. And then step up an offensive.
Iran is persuaded to make a dummy strike to bring it all to an end. And the west then crows about Iran being is a paper tiger and so ripe for overthrow. We. know how that trickery ended up for the west viz Ukraine.

i’d like to read an analysis about how israel can retailiate effectively. moon of alabama just said they cannot. indeed israel got some ballistic missiles, but the f 35 range could puts them at risk, and i think it won’t be simple to deploy a coordinated attack with swarm drones that will trick the air defences. but who knows? i think that trying to attack iran with few or no results wouldn’t be a good pr for israel, and it could lead to some iranian responses anyway. so the most important thing to know would be the capablities of escalation of israel. if they’re lacking or disproportionned (nukes) there could be no escalation, of course
I suppose it’s difficult for Israel to escalate because Israel is risk averse when Israeli citizens are conspicuously threatened, as evidenced by Israel forbearing from close engagement with Hamas, even though doing so cost them the mission
“I don’t know if they [the legacy media] are really this blind to what happened or are willing participants in a psychological operation to persuade Israel that it had a victory and does not need to escalate.” This is a question that goes to the heart of the matter, given that western governments, Intelligence and media seem to act as one. The second explanation seems the most rational, but these people’s capacity for self-delusion, living as they do in an information bubble, is truly mind-blowing. I read a report only yesterday about how the Russians are bound to lose in Ukraine. This, however, is much more dangerous as unfortunately the Western regimes are all so controlled by the Lobby that I am afraid they will indeed go all in to support the mad dog rather than let it be put to sleep.
They start out being socialised int a lying culture. They are bribed and blackmailed.
ultimately they end up believing their own lies
“If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself.” attributed to Joseph Goebbels
And, from the same source, “Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.”
Best wishes.
In the comments under previous articles, someone asked whether Iran coordinated its attack on Israel with Russia and China.
I thought that yes, Iran coordinated its actions. But my opinion is just intuition, justified by the general understanding of the strategy of the Bloc (Russia-China-Iran) opposing the West.
The other day I found confirmation of my opinion from war correspondent Marat Khairullin:
“There is no doubt that this could not have happened without consultations with Russia and China. It is very difficult to imagine that Iran warned the Americans 72 hours in advance and for some reason forgot to consult with its closest partners in the international coalition.
The whole context speaks for this point of view. Over the years, Iran has responded very carefully to direct Israeli actions, trying to act not just through its proxies, but also in such a way as not to be caught in the act.
This is precisely the development of events that many experts assumed this time: the Iranians will quietly kill some general and pretend that they have responded.
The mere fact that such a cautious and cunning player as Iran has changed its behavior so radically suggests that it clearly feels strong support.
All of Iran’s previous caution and cunning came from the fact that the country had to maneuver in the international arena alone, relying only on its own strength.
The current escalation is precisely an indicator that Iran is no longer acting alone.”

Israel spent $1.3+B defending from what? A 2-hour attack.
The US spent the same…UK & others spent some hundreds of millions.
I’ve seen estimates, based on highest #s of drones & missiles used, that Iran spent maybe $30 M.
Advantage Iran.

There is a full scale Electric War on UKraine right now – power stations disabled.
Russia is a strategic Iran partner.
Some are saying an escalation would be a full scale Electric War on Israel – putting the lights out.
Still with the “UK is the brains behind it all”? More King Flappy Ears claims to be descended from King David, as if that actually means anything?
So you’ve noticed that all modern warfare is conducted in much the same way? Russia and Iran are allies? Disabling the means of production and dispiriting the population by destroying infrastructure is as old warfare.
Thank you Captain Obvious.
Would be a good thing too.Hope it happens.
The astonishment and fear had filled common israelis. Watching Iran on top of their cities must have been a traumatic experience . The best deterrent to arrogant people is fear .. I hope they start to realize that they are weak and vulnerable ..and even worse if the west stop protecting them as a colony ..
The west claims it is a victory for Israel because they don’t want Israel to retaliate . Why would you retaliate to a victory ?
Bravo!
So, to summarize – for the small price of less than hundred cheap drones and missiles (not including the human lives lost in the embasy in Damascus), iranians:
1) Damaged Nevatim and Ramon air bases; the former known to host F-35s.
2) Destroyed the intelligence gathering base in Jabal al_Sheikh
3) Presumably destroyed the HQ of the Izraeli Air Force intelligence in Tel Aviv
4) Forced izraelis and their allies to spend hundreds of millions worth of AD missiles.
5) Mapped the positioning of the izraeli’s air defences at the time of the attack.
Does this look like a failure to you, especially from military point of view?
Israel is a classic narcissistic sociopath. Narcs think simultaneously that they are much better, and worse/weaker than others (beaten up in childhood), which is why a huge, active, compulsive drive to prove that they are “special”; “elite”; on a much different plane. Narcissists hate and fear being normal–being like everybody else–like vampires fear holy water.
America has been critically enabling this, like the Dursleys gifting Dudley, like giving a favored alcoholic son more money for booze, blows, and hoes. Enabling addicts increases the spiral, and only makes things worse.
Proving to a mere narcissist that they are just the same as everyone else, takes away their entire identity. It results in a huge existential crisis. If Batman is not a superhero, but just some sicko millionaire thug with a fetish basement and a couple yellow-belt karate lessons who has a thing for beating people up, then who’s going to protect the manor? What, stay at home Saturday nights like normal people?! Primal scream!
But proving to a narcissistic Sociopath that you are at least as good as they are, results in a compulsive red rage drive for vindictive, sadistic revenge. To assert dominance, and to “prove” that they are “better than you”. This knows no rules. Serial killing and mass murder–no problem whatsoever.
And the only way to stop a sociopath is to lay down red lines with conditions, and then follow up on your promises.
So predicting the default path is easy. Israel whacks Iran back, to “teach it a lesson” and “show it who’s boss”. Iran responds measuredly with 600 drones this time, it’s a forced move. Round 2 or 3, Israel uses a couple of its ~250 nukes on Iran. Iran then flattens parts of Israel, including Mossad, and closes the Straits of Hormuz. Oil and diesel go up to $10 a gallon. America suffers from lack of fuel and food deliveries. If things go further, Israel pulls its Sampson option, taking revenge on the US and UK by nuking them with ICBMs for not dancing to their tune with unlimited supplies. See, Israel quietly has contempt for the US, having filmed 9/11 with the Dancing Israelis; the UK too–it targeted the three UK special forces in the food trucks. Sociopaths willing to kill 2M people won’t blink at killing foreigner cities–why did Israel build ICBMs that can reach Los Angeles, and London, but Iran hasn’t?
But let’s get one thing straight. Mushroom clouds, even in Iran, are bad for business.
So. The people at the top, running the show–the CIA, MI6, SVR, even Mossad–need to get together to prevent the Knesset from escalating.
Iran has demonstrated that it is restrained, and willing to not target civilians. Rumor has it they listened to the CIA’s requests on this. Iran has no beef with the civilians of Israel; only with the mass-murdering government driven by the Z’ political party. Means there is room for rational people to work with this.
Israel, on the other hand, has demonstrated that it is dangerously unrestrained. But we helped the hate-filled apartheid nation of South Africa give up its weapons of mass destruction, and become normal. It was a great success. We can help Israel too.
Unfortunately, the only way to deal with a narcissistic sociopath (psychopat is a more appropriate term when describing Izraeli’s government) is to put him down hard, and to ensure that he stays down. I say “unfortunately” because in order to achieve this with Izrael, the collateral damage in the form of civillian casualties, is unavoidable.
Hope the collateral damage is more avoidable than you say.

The United Kingdom: Zionism’s covert nerve center
Britain’s century-long commitment to Zionism and collaboration with Israel today plays a frequently overlooked role in perpetuating the oppression and genocide against Palestinians.

“His Majesty’s government clearly believes in Tel Aviv’s future endurance, and is in for the long haul, in terms of helping preserve the Mephistophelian project. There can surely be no greater proof that the current crisis in West Asia was made in London. ”
Here is Israel’s Gantz having tea at Number 10 where PM Sunak told him “The show must go on”.
After the Iran message, PM Sunak should reconsider, but his Boss, the Zionist-in-Chief King Charles III is unlikely to.
Ya, it’s the Brits behind it all… such BS. This crowd, including King FlappyEars, makes the Keystone Kops look like Mensa.
bonbon says: The Rothschilds are not the Oligarchs you’re looking for.
Who wrote and manipulated a honey-trapped Balfour into signing the Declaration, pushed it through Parliament? Walter Rothschild and his Zionist Movement, Cousinhood fellow travellers. Which became the basis for UN Resolution 181 creating Israel on the back of the Holocaust media/political hysteria.
SA was not peopled by religious fanatics (+ racist white nationalists) who know genocide is god-approved. Much harder to reason with (except by violence). Hopefully CIA has done something useful and provided targeting info on Sampson option weapons for the Navy. If not, they will be vaporized with the rest of DC (and a few other major US cities).
The history of religion and apartheid in South Africa is not so cut and dried. As we see here, fundamentalists are not very tolerant. White Man’s Burden and all that violent colonialist stuff.

The leap to US targets being vaporized is a big one at this point, many stupid moves have to be undertaken for that to become remotely possible.
We need to dial down the fear-mongering from the “11” setting.
So what? No great loss there!
While the scenario you posit is unfortunately a high likelihood, it doesn’t answer the “who benefits” question. Not the Israeli people, nor Iran in any way, not the US/ZATO taxpayers who will provide the lion’s share of the weapons and cash, nor help Russia/China/BRICS efforts to build, not destroy.
One might say US politicians, MIC CEOs and shareholders, but a crashing economy sinks all non-Oligarchic boats.
What group has been promising “you will own nothing”for many years, has pledged to “changing human minds”? Openly determined to reduce world population as so many become the “useless class”, who will indeed “own nothing” in their Great Reset?
Look behind the propaganda curtain.

To Israel’s credit, conscription means there’s less of an “auto-immune response” in times of peace: the standing army has a better appreciation of civil society
Many good points except the last one. Israel seems to be suicidal and way beyond help. Israel accepting help is pretty wishful thinking, like about
most psycho sick fanatics. I must say that I hope the suicide proceeds quickly and cleans up the area
for the sake of the Palestinians.
“But we helped the hate-filled apartheid nation of South Africa give up its weapons of mass destruction, and become normal. It was a great success.”
South Africa in black hands is a “Great Success.”
LOL!
Blacks will destroy in 50 years what it took white Africans 350 years to build. They also ain’t hiding the fact that they want the whites, the people who do the most to keep the country running, dead.
Inside a packed stadium in South Africa tens of thousands of blacks chant “Kill the Boer (white farmer).” As you can see in the video, they get a big kick out of saying it:

Right On, Martin. Continuing as we speak!
Help Israel too? That is very doubtful considering
the Torah and the Talmud and two or three thousand years of making enemies and practicing

Here is a link to an archive of yesterday’s piece by Pepe Escobar, where he discusses the real history of Gaza with the excellent Michael Hudson.
I hope this is okay Larry. Please let me know if it’s not.

Larry, I 100% agree. The US propaganda no longer passes the giggle test – the MSM reported that diplomatic missions were canceled, and what happened when Turkey closed its airspace to the US? The US said, “Okee dokee,” without asking why? Gimme a break!)
Israel prefers to imagine enemy missile technology remains at the level of the random flight of a Scud. The fanatics will claim that god diverted the missiles due to prayer as the reason that damage was so minimal. And yet…..
A quick search on google news finds nothing on damage to the IOF Intel HQ. Tehran says 62 rockets hit the HQ, which would level it. This loss could be incalculable, given the compartmentalization of classified information.

In total agreement with LJ’s comment regarding the US media’s response to Iran’s action. Also, IMO, one of the reason’s is an underlying arrogance that assumes that any ‘non Western’ country – Asian – could not possibly prevail against ‘superior’ western arms and technology. From a distant viiewpoint, two things seem apparent at first glance,:1) Israel ‘insulted’ Iran (embassy bombing), then Iran responded (airborne swarm attac); “Duel on”.;2) The actual Iranian attack has to be considered as ‘skirmish’ or a probe. It seems doubtful, at this point, that armies will mass against each other along a front to invade anyone. Expecting , critical analyis from the US media is a pipe dream; e.g Russia has no missiles, Russia’s army is worthless, Russia didn’t take Kiev, initially, Russia is losing in Ukraine, because it was weak and ineffective, on and on. In addition, there seems to be no understanding that a war of attrition is not decided in a one time set piece battle.
In a conflict between two parties, manuevering, short of direct confrontational engagement, would entail the following actions: 1) To create imbalance in the opponent’s leadership 2) to weaken the alliances of the opponent; 3) To stregthen the alliances of one’s own. Also, putting the ‘ball’ in the opponents court, implies that the determination was made from a position of perceived strength, i.e. it is doubtful that Iran was bluffing or merely exercising a hollow response, as, beforehand, it had to assume an uncontrolled counter reaction from Israel.
As Israel’s response to Iran’s invitation to a duel is unknow at this time; it would be worthwhile to ask: 1) Is Israel’s leadership unified and in balance in comparison to Iran’s
2) Has Iran’ strengthened its alliances in comparison to Israel’s alliances. And the US still hasn’t figured out that sanctions don’t work as advertised and are accompanied with blowback.
Another offshoot to be considered, will be Russia’s military and political analysis because Iran has demonsrated a willingness to stand up against a ‘bully’. The answer awaits in the crucible brewing in West Asia.
Very much agree with you.
As to “strengthening” Israel’s alliances and the weaponry/military those allies can supply, the US/UK/ZATO has already handed Israel all the toys they have, short of nukes. The cold-war inventory has been stripped to the bare essentials, aside from the US’s 5,000ish battle tanks… which no doubt use 155mm ammunition… OOPS. Iran will not be Operation Iraq Liberation (OIL) redux.
Israel has its own nukes, doubtful the US/UK would use theirs on Iran, the potential retaliation from Russia and China is a real threat to the US mainland. Or China could just stop all exports heading for US/ZATO… the US economy would be on its knees in weeks.
The US and Israel have been underestimating Iran for decades, so the idea that Iran’s leadership is “weak” or uncoordinated may not be well-founded, despite long-standing US efforts to cause political dissent. The same game as in Russia, using 5th Column social movements to attempt regime change and misreading patience with the idiots in Washington, Brussels, London and Kiev was taken as “weakness” in the US media.
OT, but back to Ukr for a news flash. Saw a rumor earlier that Budanov was killed in a strike. Just confirmed by Dima
One of the objectives of the strike must have been to prove to the Israelis that Iranian missiles can break through not only the Iron Dome, but also everything the Americans and their vassals can throw at the incoming barrage, and they did.
There exists one picture that sums up the Iranian achievement, it is the picture of a couple of Iranian hypersonic missiles cruising above the Knesset building, that should convince Israel to calm down, de-escalate and work on strengthening the Iron Dome.

I agree with Scott. While Israel and its Western allies proved adept at shooting down slow moving drones, they failed when it came to defeating ballistic missiles armed with a conventional explosive warhead.
The Patriot SAM system was never designed from the outset, as an ABM. It was modified, with an emergency software upgrade, in 1991, to give it a limited ABM capability. It was designed to deal with the tactical/operational aircraft of the Soviet Frontal Aviation of the 1970’s and 80’s. Not 21st Century Aircraft, Missiles and ECM/EW.
They need to start from scratch and design an all new system, from the ground up. Including a new SAM.
“They need to start from scratch and design an all new system, from the ground up. Including a new SAM.”
Or would it be better, not to mention far far far cheaper, to simply find a way to get on with “the others?” 🙂
Kind regards.
[…] A compelling new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today first noting Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev held an urgent phone meeting with his counterpart Israeli National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi, says the topic of discussion was the massive Iranian strike that cost Israel an estimated up to $1.3 billion to defend itself against—was a massive Iranian strike of hundreds of drones and cruise missiles, but whose main weapon demonstrated was its its new Fattah 2 unstoppable hypersonic missiles that hit their targets—after which former top CIA analyst Larry Johnson posted a video of an unstoppable Iranian hypersonic missile and exclaimed: “What we know for a fact is that most of the ballistic missiles hit their targets in Israel…Her…”. […]
The Western Media’s primary job is to keep pushing Israel is great and infallible. They are so trusted STILL that people refuse to go to Israeli news sources to see the truth about anything going on in Israel.
It’s easy to overwhelm any missile defense, you throw hundreds missiles and decoys. The computers will default to trying to take them all out, using all possible ammo and then whatever didn’t get shot down gets throw. Lets not forget that they are using nothing more than proximity fuses which have been around since WWII.
I am curious to hear about peoples thoughts on China/Indian/Russian space reconnaissance assets over Israel during the actual attack.
Iran gave a lot of notice to folks. I don’t think that it would be out of the realm of possibilities to think that “non-combatant” countries who Iran is on good terms with would be given an opportunity to have assets in place during the attacks.
Is this a reasonable thought?
