It is not the end of the world by any stretch, but the missile attack on Ukrainian barracks at Desna (I wrote about it first in my Chasing Squirrels piece) hurt Ukraine and is a strong reminder that Russia can and will target military centers where Ukrainian troops are massed or foreign weapons are being received and put into action. It is so bad that even Volodomyr Zelensky admitted that a large number of troops were killed.
Check out the video of Zelensky and Desna (the immediate aftermath of the strike):
Russia is still pulling its punches rather than erase the base at Desna from the earth. Why? The pro-Ukrainian analysts in the west are likely to claim that Russia is running out of missiles and growing weaker with each passing day. I believe that Russia is sending a lethal message but is not yet prepared to slaughter the Ukrainian force. The troops at Desman are not the neo-Nazi element. I believe the Russian generals are hoping to kill enough to demoralize and keep enough alive to rebuild eventually cordial relations with the Ukrainians who have not bought into the Nazi propaganda.
Bottomline–if Zelensky is acknowledging this reality (after pretending all week that Ukraine was victorious in Avostal) then he may be awakening to the reality that things are going Putin’s way.
Won’t the entire Ukrainian army collapse soon? When will the war crimes tribunals start. Will the MSM be able to suppress the news coming out of them? Austin’s desperate phone call is an admission. I fear a huge false flag that “shocks” the world into WWIII
I think the false flag people have had their day, and now the endless insurgency people are in the drivers seat.

Might we dare hope for a real-life Operation Valkyrie, only this time a successful one?
I think the US needs one just as much.
What would be the point. The same hard liners would run the country. Zelensky would be held up as a martyr and replaced with another puppet.
Then you do it again, and again. Sooner or later the job loses it desirability.
The guys proving to be a liar and a traitor to the Ukrainian people. Ukraine is ruled by a minority … sooner of later the majority is going to figure out they are being lied to and their sons, husbands and brothers are being slaughtered and they’ve been driven to ruin to serve the interests of the USA. Leave him in power and he becomes a lightning rod for dissent … hopefully to the point where he ends up swinging from a lamp post a la Benito Mussolini. Never interrupt your enemy while he’s making a blunder.
We can hope that Ukraine gets the message but since Washington is pulling the strings and they don’t care how many Ukrainians die I have little hope.

Here’s another disaster for the Ukrainians:
The MoD said Russian troops destroyed two mechanized battalions of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles with artillery fire and drones as well as incoming fire from tanks and armored vehicles. The Russian MoD said as a result of the attack, they destroyed 26 Ukrainian tanks, 12 infantry fighting vehicles, and killed around 100 soldiers. The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the attack took place near the village of Vishnevoe in the south-eastern Ukrainian region of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
What will collapse first, Ukraine’s currency or it’s military?
the ukrop fell for a trap , they are fed intelligence by western ISR assets and want to push thru area least defended by russian (or so they thought). The chance of getting another fake ‘victory’ for PR purposes are too great to pass and they got suckered into russian ambush.
just like the ambush on snake island , which the ukrop invested a LOT of asset for the PR exercise , and got hammered bad.
when one side fight only for PR propaganda purposes only and not for tactical victory then it really done deal for them.
Bottomline–if Zelensky is acknowledging this reality (after pretending all week that Ukraine was victorious in Avostal) then the Americans and NATO may be awakening to the reality that things are going Putin’s way.
There, fixed it.
NATO and American leaders know exactly what’s going on. It’s the people who haven’t a clue and they want to keep it that way. Wars are fought on two battlegrounds, the actual blood and guts fighting, and the propaganda machine. The west are bombarded with so many lies it’s unbelievable.
The Plan: Fewest civilian casualties, destruction of Ukro military assets. OK. Russians still have not turned off gas, electricity, mobile phones. Targets are military not civilian. No timetable.
Putin laid this out at the beginning but Western video game generals didn’t listen.
This is real, *human* warfare. It takes as long as it takes.
Hopefully this will encourage other battalions to lay down their arms do this can finally end.
just heard of US shipping M270 to ucr – concerns ?
More target practice for the Russians I imagine. Hopefully the Ukies and Nato guys will be smart enough to give the warehouse a wide berth.
lets hope so. At this rate, supposedly at least, the west is running out of weapons faster than Russia lol. I truly pray so anyway, this is without a doubt in my mind a battle to save humanity.
Don’t know how dedicated the Bidenistas are to any decisions on anything but I ran into this today
yes, I had seen there was some back and forth on this shipment. However it appears that top pig Nuland said they are already there. Good chance she is wrong as usual.
Later though I heard on Redacted that Biden had just given the ok (today). Who knows. I would not be surprised they are already there or never will be.
Biden honestly would know the M270 from the latest Gelato flavor. But even if they were able to make their way to the front, Ukraine has no readily trained and competent operators. Best case they will be slag, worst case a souvenir for the Russians to study and develop countermeasures for.
Auch Zelenski or Elenski in most part of Europe from where i come teh letter Z is canceled due to the letter Z painted on all echipments but this come from Zapad ( i hoep i spellit ok) wich emans west in russians…but lets come back to this article…. i guess things are much much worse in Ukraine then we think they are if we had this call today and some days ago the call with Soigu…i hope this ll end soon but with those neocons we ll never know what to aspect…

If there are Nazis among the captured, they should get the same treatment as the Nazis that were tried at Nuremberg.
And hopefully they will face that same harsh justice.

plantmn You don’t know s–t about them except thru Russian IO. Maybe you ae one.
Time will tell, or rather: tattoos will tell. Great way to treat a long-time reader/commenter.
i think it is not just pat lang who replied , i suspec it is the site ‘real owner’ who used TTG ID to bully / ban people questioning the bullshit IO he ran on SST
remember when Pat Lang was hospitalized for hip replacement ? suddenly TTG (who never posted anything non-military) suddenly posted many articles like space topics , religious / catholic topics and many stuff pat lang usually posted.
the whole SST has been sold to the neocons and used as IO operation center with this TTG ID as owner.
PS : TTG also openly said he decide which comment to publish or not , nuff said
Richard Ong says
Mr. Lang’s contributions to his comments seem unlike him. I like his site very much and view him as a wise and experienced professional military man. Of late he seems noticeably sold on the “nefarious Russia” view and is dismissive of those who try to see things from the Russian side. It seems out of character for him but it’s not for me to read his mind.
I do respect his experience and erudition but I find it odd that he has thrown in with anti-Russian commentators such as Diana West, Jeff Nyquist, Cliff Kincaid, and Max Boot, for example, not to mention the entire US commentariat come down to that. The full-court press against evil Putin is something really bizarre to behold. NATO’s precipitate and pointless expansion eastward is just assumed to be the most natural and logical thing imaginable. Why, heavens be, should Russia object to NATO on its doorstep? Any Russian objection thereto can only stem from evil motives.
Even if Zelensky wanted to make peace the US will have none of it.
He wants WW3. I wonder how deep Zelenskys roots are in Ukraine. He seems like a puppet installed in preparation for war. The guy was a comedian actor and then suddenly becomes President and then this conflict begins? A little to convenient. Zelensky calls Russian soldiers cockroaches and subhuman. I don’t think that’s the way a leader who wants peace will speak. I honestly think he gets off on all of this. As far as I know he never was a soldier and knows nothing of war.
Terrific interview with Larry by James Kunstler
I don’t think Zelensky is naive or thinking Ukraine can win this war. I think he’s a puppet selling out Ukrainians. I don’t know what his family’s history is in Ukraine but he’s first an actor/comedian who did such a good job that the Ukrainians loved him and he became an easy puppet to install as President because people already liked him (who doesn’t lie a good comedian),he acted the role well enough, and actors are the best politicians when surrounded by the right backers. I think he’s sold out Ukraine for the bigger picture and that’s why I wonder what his family lineage is in the Ukraine because if they’ve only been around two three generations then that’s not comparable to many Ukrainians who have family lineage for many centuries, so it would be easier to sell out the nation for him if he has no long family lineage in Ukraine.
I read today that the USA is sending missiles with the ability to strike the ships in the Black Sea which are blockading grain exports. I think this proves what you’ve been saying because if Russia was doing so poorly then how have the created an effective blockade preventing Ukrainian grain exports.
Zelensky from the beginning has been pushing for WW3, which I believe already began the moment our nation, America, submitted a bill to reinstate the lend lease act, which was only used one other time, WW2, and we used it to supply Russia with weapons to build a massive military. So, Russia knows first hand huge significance of America reinstatement of the lend lease act, which began in January before Russia began operations in Ukraine, and I believe Russia sees it as a direct act of war against them because the lend lease act of Ukraine says not just Ukraine but in the writing within the Bill it states all countries bordering Russia, so we are funding all the nations bordering Russia, or potentially will be. How could Russia not view this as an act of aggression? Especially since they hadn’t even invaded yet. The Bill was finalized on the 13th of May to clearly upset Putin and the leaders and people of Russia.
Personally, I don’t think Zelensky gives two diddlys about Ukrainians because any REAL leader will exhaust all diplomatic options before encouraging war. He was not only encouraging it but was hyping up WW3 by saying Ukraine would be the starting point of WW3 if attacked. He refers to Russian soldiers, which are like all soldiers, following their orders, and calls them cockroaches and subhuman which is awfully similar to NAZI talk. True leaders don’t use this type of talk unless they’re trying to instigate war and make things worse. I haven’t seen him do anything once to try to deescalate the situation because I think his roots aren’t with Ukraine, he is an installed dictator because he has eliminated most political party’s and removed all news outlets except for government controlled news outlets. I think he was installed because he doesn’t care about the Ukrainian people, thus has no issues using them, and then fleeing with his newly minted fortune to Miami etc.
Ukraine is nothing more than a punching bag for Russia to waste supplies and to give us an idea of their true military prowess, but I think Russia understands exactly what’s happening because it’s almost identical to Russia in ww2.
And the whole BS assessment that Russia is running low on missiles is absurd. During the first month of the Russia operations in Ukraine they used as many missiles as America used in the first day of the shock and awe campaign in Iraq. There is absolutely no way Russia is running low.
I believe Russia is saving everything they have, used old outdated weaponry during the Ukraine operation, and newly recruited soldiers because they’re saving they’re real weaponry and soldiers in case conflict with NATO begins. The same with their missiles too.
Plus, Putin sees this as a reunification of a nation filled with former Russians. I think Putin believes many Ukrainians are brainwashed. Russia has been very careful to only strike military targets, and killed less than a thousand civilians in the first month. Although they can’t be perfect 100% of the time because it’s war. But I completely agree with your assessment of Russia trying their best to win over the Ukrainian people by not waging full out war, and doing their best to strike purely military targets. The war would be lost if Russia didn’t do this because if they invaded and won they’d be seen as invaders. Russia wants to be seen as the saviors and long last family. It’s the only way they can truly win the war.
Hopefully the real Ukrainians will figure put soon who their friends are and who is tossing them into a meat grinder for the political benefit of a few billionaire oligarchs, as well as cover western crimes that have been going on there for years.
