Ursula von der Leyen’s strident remarks on the need to strengthen the confrontation with China exemplifies the delusion:

We are talking about a €600 billion package that the EU is launching together with the US and other countries for targeted infrastructure investments in the global South. We will have to take giant steps”.
Rather than try to pour oil on troubled waters, the G-7 band of miscreants are intent on trying to set that oil on fire. Their gathering in Hiroshima, the site of the first use of an atomic bomb, was rich in irony. Notwithstanding their hollow antagonistic rhetoric about defeating Russia, they refused to accept the fact that the Ukrainian Army that they trained, funded and equipped was whipped decisively in Bakhmut by a much smaller force of alleged band of criminal conscripts –the Dirty Dozen times 3000. In reality, the Wagner Group was not solely responsible for defeating the NATO-backed force. Wagner received ample support from Russia’s regulars, who launched unrelenting artillery and aerial barrages.
The derangement of the G-7 leaders was captured in a speech delivered by Eliot Cohen, a fanatical neo-con, to the Polish Institute of International Affairs Strategic Ark Conference on May 17, 2023. Cohen said:
Russians must, moreover, conclude that Ukraine—formerly, in their view, a pseudo-state containing “cousins” or “little brothers”—is gone forever. That means speedy accession to the EU and NATO, but also a deep Western commitment to rebuilding Ukraine economically and, most important, arming it to the teeth for years to come.
The paltering of the administration about giving our superabundant F-16s to Ukraine is foolish and shortsighted. These jets might not make a difference on the battlefield two months from now, but the knowledge that several hundred of them are in the pipeline for the next five years would have profound symbolic importance. We should be talking about how we will rebuild Ukraine’s armed forces, the West’s largest, most combat-tested, and in some ways most determined army.
The West needs an aggressive information campaign to drive home the reality of Russian defeat. Russians need to be reminded that their faltering economy is only a tenth the size of the EU’s; that they cannot build and deploy a modern tank; that their latest high-performance jet, the Su-57, will be outnumbered by the F-35s of the four small Nordic states; that their generals are superannuated and incompetent; that their high command is indifferent to their men’s lives; that their equipment is inferior to that of Ukraine; and that their logistics are rotted by graft and corruption.
This is pure insanity. Cohen, and the rest of the G-7 leaders, have yet to grasp that the “superannuated and incompetent” Russians just kicked their ass in Bakhmut and that the so-called “superior” technology of NATO is being decimated by the military industrial economy of a “faltering” Russia. It would be tragic if Cohen was spewing this nonsense while strapped in a straight jacket in a mental institution. We could hope that a combination of drugs and medical treatment might free him from his psychosis. But he is not confined to a psych ward. Instead, he is being accepted as a wise pundit who is laying out a viable vision for Western policy towards Russia.
This means that the West will continue to use Ukraine as a flaccid battering ram futilely trying to smash Russia and ensuring the slaughter of tens of thousands of Ukrainian military personnel in the process. Russia, for its part, appears to recognize that the leaders of the West are seized with madness that can only be addressed by destroying the armies and equipment the West deploys against it.
While Cohen and the G-7 continue to succumb to the fatal error of pretending that Russia is a creaky autocracy on the verge of collapse, Vladimir Putin and his national security team continue to forge new ties with the largest nations of the world in terms of population and are busy erecting new economic systems that will by-pass the Western hegemonic system based on the supremacy of the U.S. dollar. The West’s fixation on crushing Russia eliminates any viable path for a negotiated settlement and the re-establishment of normal diplomatic norms. This is a fight to the death, one the West is not prepared for. Russia and China now appear to realize that the West can no longer be trusted and are embarked on a path to defend themselves and make the West suffer the consequences.

I have not heard of paint control but I have heard of ceiling tiles and flooring replaced to much more expensive options under the guise of environment. The building inspectors said they would not sign off unless change was made. It is not good on many fronts. I live in SoCal and have been watching the formerly free carpool lanes for cars carrying two or more occupants, being converted into toll roads. There are overhead electronic signs that display the toll fees which change dependent on time of day, direction and distance. In short, how badly do you want to get out of the regular lane? I’ve seen fees of almost $20.
A friend used one of the roads on an occasion where they were doing road work further up the lane, and he ended up crawling through stop and go traffic like everyone else. He contacted the operator to complain that he had gotten no benefit from the toll and they should refund the fee. They basically told him to go pound sand, pay up sucker.

This is what I’ve been wondering. Many believe that the defeat of NATO, the West, the U.S., et al. by Russia is good news as an alternative to the Globalist Elite’s Plan. Maybe this is their Plan?

Trying to follow the logic along several related threads:
1. The approach of the RF SMO seems to have two main objectives;
(a) To remove the security threat of NATO from its borders.
(b) To de-nazify those posing a threat to its security.
2. Those with the responsibility of protecting and maintaining the security and prosperity of the RF appear at some point to have fully comprehended that there is no one within the entirety of the West capable of negotiation.
Instead they have accepted that the goal of the elites in the West, along with the support structures they have constructed, is to dismember, rape and pillage the resources of the entire Eurasian landmass.
With the above realities in mind the following question presents:
“Will the complete defeat and destruction of Ukraine, or that of the potential next proxy (Poland?/Baltic States?/Romania?/Scandinavian States?) achieve the two objectives set out in point 1 (a) and (b) above?
It would seem reasonable to argue that recognition of the Ukraine being merely a proxy requires that the answer to the above question has to be a no.
The logic of stated positions suggests that the root problem does not exist with the Ukraine (or other potential proxies which are likely being lined up) but instead lies with those who are using those proxies to achieve specific geo-political objectives.
From this point, on the basis of if/when contingency scenario planning, three broad possibilities present:

You know, in a way, you echo the sentiments many Russians have. Some believe we should’ve hit Washington directly right at the start. For it’s no big secret that’s where the trouble originates.
However, every war is not the end in itself but serves a political purpose. As Clausewitz put it, “war is the continuation of policy with other means”. So, it is up to the politicians to decide how a war should be fought.
Besides, any war ends some day. And if you are not prepared to kill every single one of your enemy – and we are not – you have to fight your wars with that in mind. That’s what Putin does, and believe me, he knows what he is doing.
He did it in the war with Chechnya. That was a bloody brutal war, and it seemed like it’d never end. Putin found a way. And today the Chechens are more “Russians” than the Russians themselves. They’ve earned the respect and admiration throughout Russia by their conduct in this war.
Putin is not your garden variety politician. He is very-very smart, and he sees ten steps ahead. Most people have trouble with two. The war in Ukraine – or, rather, not a war, at least, not yet, but a special military operation, – is just a small part of a much larger frontline with most of the battles fought elsewhere by other means.

The EU is not a member of the G7 though their commission really wishes they ran Europe, and the rest of the world too. The trouble with F16’s is not that it’s so “effective,” but that they can only be operated by NATO personnel from NATO bases, especially given the timeframe they are talking about, and everyone that matters knows it. If they do appear, it would openly indicate that NATO is directly fighting Russia. So, even if it does nothing militarily, it does become a big political game changer.
So, what will they actually do? If they are NATO aircraft in thinnest disguise, will they be used as if they are actual Ukrainian assets, that is, will NATO commanders actually send them against targets in “Russia”? Against civilian targets? How will NATO leaders react when they are blown away by Russian AD, which will be very prompt? (“we condemn Russia’s unprovoked attack on our peaceful bombers dropping bombs of peace on Russian civilian invaders illegally occupying Russian territories”? I’d add /sarc except I am actually sure they will say this, word for word.). Nothing good can come out of this, but this is a big change, not that it was too unexpected….

It seems she is implying trying to compete with China on terms closer to China’s. That is, more deals where the money is not lent, but given, in return for some period of future use/access. This is not the only model the Chinese use, they also do make large development loans in yuan.
A couple issues here…
First, dealing with the loan model, when the Chinese make loans, they don’t attach a ton of conditions that are designed to change the nature of the culture and wrest control away from the nation and place it in the hands of the “international rules-based order” (IRBO). You have to wonder whether the West is really capable of making loans that aren’t predatory and designed to control another nation’s politics and resources. History suggests no.
Second, if they want to do the invest/use model, would they be able to. Such a model does not offer the ability to impoverish a nation and make it susceptible to control. As this has been the point of their foreign development, one has to wonder whether they could really gather the internal domestic political support to send billions overseas with only the potential for trade or infrastructure use.
Third, in their capitalist systems, would the oh-so-critical donor class support a foreign aid system not based on commercial loans, but on direct government investment? I mean, we are talking about billions of dollars in lost interest payments, not to mention the possible ability to buy out assets at bankruptcy prices if the nation’s economy fails and they can’t make the payments. Would the finance sector really let Western governments change this model?
Really, do we credibly believe that the West is suddenly going to forego one of its most reliable tools for the spreading of neoliberalism and the control of other nations and their resources? And, that they are going to jump into the deep end of the pool and try to compete with the trillions of dollars of investment made and committed to by China? Personally, I’ll believe it when (if) I see it.
