Radio Sputnik called me first thing this morning and asked me to comment on the recent speech in Oxfordshire, England by the Director of the CIA, William Burns. I quickly scanned the news item and assumed it was a joke. I did a quick check to verify that this was a hoax or another clever bit of satire by the Babylon Bee. Nope. Burns really is this fatuous. Maybe the real Bill Burns has been abducted by aliens (the outer space kind).
CIA Director William Burns called Russia’s war on Ukraine a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to recruit spies for the intelligence agency.
“Disaffection with the war will continue to gnaw away at the Russian leadership, beneath the steady diet of state propaganda and practiced repression. That disaffection creates a once-in-a-generation opportunity for us at CIA, at our core a human intelligence service,” Burns said in a lecture Saturday to the Ditchley Foundation in the United Kingdom, according to a transcript of his remarks.
I have posted the full video of Burn’s remarks below. If you held out hope that Burns was the lone adult in the Biden Administration, forget about it. Burns, while well spoken, is a shallow, mendacious twit.
Burns’ claim that the war in Ukraine is a ““once-in-a-generation opportunity” reveals his appalling ignorance on what it takes to recruit a foreigner to commit treason. There was a time during the Cold War when a CIA case officer could pitch a Soviet intelligence or military officer with the image of the United States as a clearly superior alternative to the Soviet Union — the U.S. had a free press, a healthy complex economy, a robust political system and, most importantly of all, freedom (at least that was what the U.S. peddled).
Today the United States stands as the only existing country in the world with a forty year track record of imperial military mis-adventures and the squandering of trillions of dollars. Instead of making the world safer the United States has sown chaos. The United States have more political prisoners languishing in prison than Russia and freedom of expression, especially for Christians, is attacked with increasing ferocity by a corporate media eager to shill for the U.S. Government. The U.S. intelligence and military organizations are a woke, hot mess. U.S. military leaders are fixated on promoting transgender degeneracy, routinely failing to meet recruitment goals and destroying the foundation of “uniformity” that is an essential trait of successful armies. I defy you to show me a mentally stable Russian intelligence or military officer eager to join this U.S.
Burns’ detachment from reality is underscored by his celebration of the CIA Telegram advertisement pleading for Russians to call the CIA. It got 2.5 million hits. Nobody on Burns’ team had the balls to tell him that most of those views were from skeptics who could not believe the CIA was this absurd or from people looking for a good laugh.

Burns’ insistence on the tired meme that Putin is in trouble and Russia is failing makes it almost impossible for any decent CIA analyst to provide an alternative set of facts and analysis that challenges that narrative.
Burns’ Ditchley Lecture should be a wake up call to the Kremlin that the top U.S. officials, like Burns, are really this clueless and genuinely believe that Ukraine is winning and Russia is failing. Iraq had Baghdad Bob. America has Bakhmut Bill. Good grief!!

Ever since I read about the case of CIA agent Aldrich Ames, I was obvious the CIA was a feckless self serving political agency within our government. The guy operated for years right under their noses at Langley. He was in and out of trouble at the agency on regular basis. The signs of treason were legion. On top of that he was arrogant alcoholic, and still the dolts at the agency couldn’t figure out who was leaking to the Soviets. Talk about a dysfunctional operation! Mearsheimer’s point to Motyl’s counterpoint (if you can call it that) was a great exercise. Motyl’s piece is interesting only in that it manages to use minor events (Prigozhyn) and amplify them to major game changers (Civil War and Dissolution of the State) – out of context and desperation at work, I’d suspect. But that’s Motyl for you. I only had to speed scan his piece as you can easily fill in the boilerplate blanks by rote. Then speed scan a confirmation of your assumptions to make it interesting. That at least makes the article readable, as a mind exercise at least, and for that I thank you, MSM for teaching me the old Soviet mastery of reading between the lines.
I especially liked Motyl’s tactic of defanging Mearsheimer by alluding to his failure to defer to Russian alt-media and bloggers’ speculation, rumors and gossip as a ‘true reading’ of Russia’s state of internal affairs. Very entertaining.

I read the article in The Hill. If the author was accurate – and I have no doubt that she was, everything Burns said is pure bovine excrement. Stepping out of the national context, what is happening with the world? The global communists are trying to stand up world government. To accomplish a world government means de-linking the vertical structure of national government agencies and functions and re-linking those entities with their foreign counterparts horizontally forming a global agency or function. The Five Eyes was the core beginning of re-linking in a horizontal organization. I know for a fact that Bill Clinton initiated the horizontal structure with environmental groups for “sustainable development”. That is documented in the reports on the work of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development – chartered in 1993.
It’s not difficult to see what is happening when you look at the world from the view of structural organization backtracking to the beginning of organization and then moving forward to present day.

When this whole “mutiny” was going on, I was doing some plane watching. On 6/27/23, a Russian Ilyushin Il-96-300 flew from Moscow to Washington, D.C. There are only 3 or 4 of these planes & they fly the high ups in the Russian government, including the president. It didn’t leave until late morning of the 29th. It made a brief stop in NY @ JFK airport then headed back to Moscow. Maybe someone from the Rus Fed just came to see the Russian Ambassador & brief him in person…or maybe they met with somebody else. Who knows. Lots of strange air traffic over that weekend & I filter out all traffic except govt/mil on my plane geek programs.
The problem can be stated simply. The United States is still living in the 1980’s, while the rest of the World is living in the 21st Century.
Furthermore, the United States have become senile, incompetent and insane. The U.S. military is a living Cold War Museum, as far as equipment is concerned, and mentally ill and incapable, as far as culture, doctrine and personnel are concerned.
For ordinary Americans, the rest of the world is moving towards greater personal liberty and autonomy, while the United States are moving in the opposite direction. The same holds true for the other countries of the English Speaking Union. The Anglosphere may become Oceania, from which people flee, to Europe and Latin America, for freedom. That Oceania is/was set in 1984, is entirely appropriate to the Anglosphere’s sense of time and mental paradigm.
