I always enjoy the opportunity for a virtual sit down with Emerald Robinson to discuss current events on the Global stage. Today she asked my thoughts on Sudan. What the hell is going on there? Or, more specifically, why did the United States have 70 “diplomats” at the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum?
Thanks to Sudan, or more precisely, thanks to what happened in Sudan in the summer of 1994, I became a terrorism talking head on television. Carlos the Jackal aka Ilich Ramírez Sánchez was captured in Sudan. Here is the cover story:
Western intelligence agencies resumed their hunt for Carlos in earnest. He was tracked to Sudan, and in 1994 French agents captured Carlos and returned him to France for trial.
What actually transpired is the CIA in Sudan located and captured the Jackal. The CIA officer credited with organizing and executing that operation was Cofer Black. Black and his crew, working with Sudanese authorities, captured Carlos and turned him over to the French. Black and the CIA were content to let the French take credit for the op, but the French only took custody of the Jackal once he was in hand.
I was contacted by CNN that day and asked to come on air to comment. I provided great sound bite, referring to Carlos as “terrorist emeritus” and that launched my “career” as a counter terrorism expert, which led to hundreds of appearances on all major US networks, all cable channels and even the BBC and Al Jazeera during the ensuing decade.
Interesting side note on Cofer Black, he graduated to lead the CIA Counter Terrorism Center prior to and during 9-11. When he retired from the CIA he because the Ambassador for Counter Terrorism in my old office at the State Department; he did a stint with Blackwater and then, wonder of wonders, snagged a job as a member of the board at Burisma thanks to Hunter and Joe Biden. What a country!
During the same period that Carlos was hanging out in Khartoum, another fellow, Osama Bin Laden, also had taken up residence, starting in 1991, after being banished from Saudi Arabia.
The US listed Sudan as a state sponsor of terrorism in 1993 after accusing its government of harboring the al-Qaeda leader and opening its territories to extremist groups from throughout the world. Bin Laden arrived in Sudan in 1991 under the guise of a businessman and investor. He was close to the Islamic group that was ruling the country and that had adopted jihadist slogans against the West. Bin Laden consequently held several open and secret meetings with the leaders of the Islamic Front, such as Omar al-Bashir and Turabi.
Sources close to the decision-making powers at the Front at the time, said Bashir, the now-ousted president, and his deputy, Ali Osman Taha, had visited Bin Laden at his house in the Riyadh neighborhood in Khartoum to inform him about plans to deport him to Afghanistan.
There are several stories floating around on the internet regarding why Sudan booted Bin Laden in 1996. Some sources claim it was because of U.S. pressure. Others indicate the Sudanese were worried about Egypt retaliating for a failed assassination attempt on an Egyptian official. I personally think that was the impetus.
On 20 August 1998, Bill Clinton ordered the bombing of an alleged “chemical weapons” factory in Sudan in retaliation for the Al Qaeda simultaneous attacks on the U.S. Embassies in Tanzania and Kenya on 7 August 1998. That provided a nice distraction from the political heat Clinton was taking over the revelation that he was getting blow jobs in the Oval Office from an intern. Turns out the targeted pharmaceutical factory at Al Shifa had nothing to do with Bin Laden or Al Qaeda.
Sudan got back into Washington’s good graces in 2015 by signing up to support the CIA backed civil war in Yemen, which pitted the Saudi-backed Government of Yemen against the Iranian supported Houthis.
The RSF (aka Rapid Security Force) is commanded by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who currently holds the position of deputy head of Sudan’s ruling Sovereign Council, and who is commonly known as Hemedti. . . . Beginning in 2015, the RSF, along with Sudan’s army, began sending troops to fight in the war in Yemen alongside Saudi and Emirati troops, allowing Hemedti to forge ties with the Gulf powers.
When I learned that the census of the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum 70 officers, I was surprised. That is a large number for a country like Sudan, which is not a critical trading or military partner with the United States. All it offers is location — its coastline is on the Red Sea. Sudan would be an ideal base for the CIA to provide support to the war in Yemen, for example.
It is important to recognize that both the United States and Russia (and a host of other countries like Egypt and Saudi Arabia) maintained contact with both General Dagalo, who was the number two guy in Sudan’s ruling body, and General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the head of the Sovereign Council. Al-Burhan and Dagalo, to put it mildly, are rivals and are not best of buddies. We still do not know what triggered the RSF to attack the armed forces loyal to the Sovereign Council. Lots of speculation.
And what about the “bio lab” in Khartoum that is caught up in the conflict and has the W.H.O. spooked?
The World Health Organization (WHO) says there’s a “high risk of biological hazard” at a laboratory caught up in the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
Officials said it was unclear who was behind the occupation of the National Public Health Laboratory in the capital Khartoum.
I have seen some reports that the U.S. National Institutes of Health was funding research in that facility. Could be totally legit, but in the wake of revelations about NIH funding for the Wuhan laboratory and the discovery of multiple bio research labs, funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, in Ukraine, some skepticism is certainly warranted. What kind of research was the U.S. funding?
Biswapriya Purkayastha says
What the hell is a WHO biological laboratory with deadly pathogens doing in the middle of Khartoum in the first place?
And why is it only now that we are being informed about it?
I personally believe that Dagalo is being thrown under the bus. If he’d succeeded in his coup he would have been another brave “pro Western fighter for freedom and democracy”. Since he was so incompetent as to fail – without the air force, which stayed loyal, and the whole army, ditto – he’s got no hope. So now he’s a “Russian puppet” who’s “armed by Wagner”. You’d think the Imperialist States would have warned about the RSF being armed by Wagner before the coup attempt, if it has been true?
The real reason, of course, is to scotch the Russian base at Port Sudan, the agreement to set up which was finalised on 12 February this year. Very shortly afterwards – 16 Feb – the Bidet regime, which last year had demanded Sudan not sign the base deal, announced roughly 300 million dollars in “humanitarian aid” to Sudan. In early March Victoria “Yats Is The Guy” Nuland turned up in Khartoum to “discuss democracy”, and here we are.
Simplicius76 mentions Sudan in his latest:

So, that really was an aspirin plant (pharmaceutical) that Clinton bombed. I think even the MSM talked about that if memory serves.
What’s your take if any, on the story five or so years back about solicitations in the US for ethnic Slavs to contribute their DNA for research?
I and not a few others, found that very peculiar to say the least, even before the biolab revelations. Given the nature of the current extremist Ukrainian mindset coupled with the multiple biolabs in UA, I wouldn’t find it at all strange that they, even if no others, would be interested in well let’s be blunt – a bioweapon and an antidote for their use only. Just color me a tad suspicious.
Paulo Guerra says
Unfortunately were deleted all articles on the Internet about the Nobel Prize Adolfo Pérez Esquivel about biolabs in UKR. Which is illuminating. They control 99% of media platforms! And this is the greatest danger in the world today! It was the same with all the articles and documentaries about the growth of neo-Nazis in Ukraine after the coup! And there were hundreds of articles. Only this one left in Portuguese. A independent platform:
UA is a terrorist state says
There were hundreds of pics of the gruesome casualties of Donbass civilians from UA shelling & rocket attacks after 2014 too, but they’ve been purged. Pretty easy to erase UA war crimes from public view if you have the means and the inclination. Right, Google?
Ghost of John McCain says
In 2015 or 16, I pulled up a multi screen gallery of neo-nazi pics of Ukrainians on my laptop with a couple of keywords and showed them to a visitor. His jaw dropped. “Those are they people we’re supporting?” His exact words. Can’t do that trick any more. Granted there are remnants left, using more specific keywords. Try it:
Massive collection of DNA has been going on for years, in public. In the West people are even paying for the privilege of being part of “DNA Facebook”. What are they going to do with all of that DNA? Everyting they can, of course.
MSM is, as usual, projecting, lying, accusing Russia, etc.

An emeritus terrorist and an emeritus spy! They could still be two emeritus good friends if they didn’t have Carlos kidnapped in Sudan! Like Rick in Casablanca. Always the scirocco for the most enigmatic friendships. To rot in a prison in France! I love the French film 1973 “The Day of the Jackal”. Better than Bruce Willis’ Jackal. From a novel by Frederick Forsyth’s based on rumors he heard about an actual attempt to assassinate French President Charles de Gaulle, when he gave up on Algeria! Therefore, an assassination ordered by the extreme right that Carlos would never work with.
An extraordinary trihler by Fred Zinnemann, starring Edward Fox, who also couldn’t be more different from Carlos. Sorry, Ilich! And with the always hot Vanessa Redgrave.
Speaking of old movies, Carlos the Jackal was a character in The Bourne Identity (1988). I remember loving that movie, back in the VHS days. I don’t know if it would stand the test of time, but it can’t be worse than the modern shaky-cam ones.
Paulo Guerra says
I also liked the Bourne saga. Which to me is not quite an old movie. And the Jackal with Bruce Will is also a good action movie! Which is a remake of the 1973 film. Which actually despite being shot in Europe is spoken in English. I think a co-production. Fantastic. De Gaulle always said he was saved by the Citroen DS which managed to flee at full speed on 3 wheels. With hydropneumatic suspension. Real, no special effects. I later had a GS with the same suspension. Rolls Royce also used this suspension. I just never understood Carlos’ connection to the attack. I think it happened because at the time in France, Jackal was synonymous with terrorist.
David Yallop ( an investigative journo equal to John Pilger) wrote a great book in ’93; To the ends of the Earth: The Hunt for the Jackal

Long before SMO came to speak a Nobel Prize that had no doubt! And he openly said that pathogens transmissible by migratory birds were being developed in Ukraine to fuck the Russian population! And that the UN and WHO had to investigate! How many countries do you know that Russia has entered uninvited? I don’t remember any other than Ukraine! And we all saw Nuland’s psychopath trembling in Congress when Russia entered Ukraine! The US is a signatory to the treaty against biological and chemical weapons.
And they destroyed Iraq for it! I think many people still don’t realize the nature of the Biden Administration, which is nothing more than a crook. The US now has hidden laboratories in many 3rd world countries! The problem is that all international organizations are now completely corrupted by neoliberalism. By the power of money.
United Nations Not Aware of Any Biological Weapons …
And see the IAEA in Zaporizhzhia? But Russia knows very well what it found. We have to wait! If world Govt agencies it is not easy to expose a crime of this nature in one of the most corrupt countries in the world! Ukraine has been completely corrupted mainly by the Democratic Party!
US military bio-research violates international law

Ukraine’s endemic corruption didn’t need any help from the democratic party. They just came along for the ride.
As virology is pseudoscientific fiction — no alleged pathogenic “virus” of any sort has ever been isolated and purified and never scientifically proven to exist in nature or synthetically in a biolab — the corrupt WHO’s fearmongering “concerns” about alleged polio, measles and cholera “isolates” (sic.) constitute propaganda and are scientifically baseless.
Following on its fraudulent 2020 “pandemic” declaration, WHO is now attempting a brazen global power play inimical to freedom in an upcoming vote next month.
Agree. Fauci and Gates have already said there will be another “scamdemic” soon. Looks like Sudan will soon be another Wuhan so TPTB can collect more stupid humans’ DNA under the guise of “test me test me, I might have covid.” The swabs are packed under the strictest guidelines too.
Let’s coerce them to line up for another bioweapon shot to “save Grandma.” Break out the Darwin awards.
Ben Haskell says
Hi Robert. “Pretend” 2 things, just for a moment, just for the sake of argument. 1. Viruses exist. 2. The Covid Vaccines (giving the most charitable interpretation) result in more side effects than anticipated. How does public health and big pharma cover it up? Keep real scientists and doctors from looking! And how do you do that? Taint the reputation of real scientists and doctors that are “vaccine hesitant”! And how do you do that? Flood their social media accounts with bullshit comments like “graphene oxide and 5G activated nanotech”, “luciferase is in the vaccine and is the mark of the beast”, “snake venom”, and worst of all “viruses have never been isolated and purified and don’t exist”.
Oh the poor doctors! Their patients know in their gut, with all lockdowns, censorship and propaganda, that something is wrong. But most patients don’t have the scientific background to tell which skeptics are real and which are fake. They hear from their patients, “there is no virus”, the doctors roll up their eyes and whisper to themselves “oh dear”, and don’t look at the real stuff like myocarditis risk.
I have seen some of the Lanka, Gowan, Bailey stuff. They all have some scientific training, and they all invoke the biochemistry paradigm of “isolation and purification”. Do they ever define it? In biochemistry there is never isolation to 100% purity; maybe 99.9% if you are very good, but never 100%. Do they ever give a specification for how pure is good enough, or will they always move the goalpost? So define “pure enough” for me, and then we can talk a little more.
Lanka claims that cell cultures exhibit “virus like plaques” in the absence of virus, due to starvation and toxic antibiotics. He has a little bit of stuff in English, but when he cites his work by reference to his website, that is difficult to navigate, almost all of it is in German and not in English, so that I can’t verify or refute it. I submit to you, that this difficulty of verification, this very “difficulty”, is by design. Lanka’s presentations are designed to frustrate real scientists and doctors so that they get pissed off.
So I have a second assignment for you, besides giving a specification for purity, look up the term “moi” as used by virologists. How does one determine “moi”? How does the very definition of “moi” refute the Lanka/Gowan/Bailey claim that “there are no controls”?
Lanka is right in one aspect: the question of viral existence if of great concern. Lanka claims that the “false belief” in viruses leads to lockdowns and tyranny. Anything good can be misused for evil. But what if those that deny viruses keep looking in the wrong place for treatments? That makes the Lanka/Gowan/Bailey cult just as murderous as the Fauci cult.
Real heros like the late Zev Zelenko that search for cures. Lanka/Gowan/Bailey defecate on his grave.
Sudan, Somalia, Chad – amongst the poorest and most corrupt countries in the world. The former great powers of Europe left a nice legacy. What does Africom do other than bomb poor people of course; and well, there must be tons of minerals & natural resources. Had to dig out Marine General Smedley (Hitman for Standard Oil) Butler’s: “War is a Racket”. Prigoz has it over Prince, because, unlike Constellis, Wagner probably can act like the Conquistadors, Cortes & Pizzaro, come to mind. All those diplomats in Khartoum – US debt, er tax, dollars at work.
Darth Readius says
The question is becoming what in which countries does the NIH and WHO not fund secret biolabds?
Alex Berkovich says
>>> What kind of research was the U.S. funding?
From what we know from the none other than Dt. Fouci – the research the US is funding there is probably prohibited in US by US law. So, it probably related to gain of function of some sort.
