Last week’s coup in Niger is tempting Europe and the United States to back track on their insistence that the rules based international order demands that no country invade another country unless attacked by that country. (Of course the West ignored that “rule” in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and the Balkans, but consistency is not the strong suit of Washington, London or Paris). Up till now the West’s hypocrisy has been muted as it condemned the “illegal” Russian invasion of Ukraine. That is about to change. Unlike Russia, who watched Ukraine shell and murder Russian speaking Ukrainians for 9 years, Niger has not attacked U.S. or European citizens. Nope. It simply took the audacious step of asserting control over the uranium mined in Niger. Can’t have the slaves on the Western plantation get all uppity and start acting like they have some rights now, can we?
The Western response is predictable — white foreigners are being evacuated while the United States and France reportedly are cooking up a military operation to dethrone the coup plotters. Adding more fuel to the fire, Niger’s new military leaders reportedly shut down a U.S. military base that is home to a fleet of drones. Jumping in to do the West’s bidding is the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), with Nigeria in the lead. ECOWAS is threatening military action against Niger, which also is an ECOWAS member.
This is not sitting well with the new military leaders of Niger:
Rebel leader: Niger will not succumb to pressure and will not restore Bazum as president
Abdurrahman Tchiani also said that no one threatens French citizens in the republic, there are no grounds for their evacuation
The Niger will not succumb to international pressure, the military who seized power in the country will not restore Mohamed Bazum as president of the country. This was stated on Wednesday on national television by the leader of the National Council for Saving the Motherland, General Abdurakhman Tchiani, proclaimed the head of state by the rebels.
Niger will not lean under regional and international pressure to restore President Bazum, Reuters quotes him as saying.
Tchiani also noted that no one in Niger threatens French citizens, there are no grounds for their evacuation. “The French have no objective reason to leave Niger,” Agence France Presse quotes him. “French citizens have never been the object of any threat in Niger.”
France began to evacuate its citizens from Niger on August 1. According to the authorities, 600 out of the 1.2 thousand French registered at the embassy in this African country expressed their desire to return home. Their example will be followed by about 800 citizens of Belgium, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Luxembourg and other countries.
Niger is not alone, at least in terms of rhetorical support — Guinea, Mali and Burkina Faso (also ECOWAS members) are warning that any attack on Niger will be treated as an attack on them. It will be interesting to see where Russia, China and India line up in this brewing conflagration.
Europe’s dependence — especially that of France — on Niger’s uranium is forcing the West to remove its mask of being the stalwart defender of democracy. This is not about restoring democratic rule in Niger (just as that principle was tossed aside in the Maidan in Ukraine in 2014). This is about controlling an essential economic resource that France and the rest of Europe needs. To hell with democracy and the rights of the Nigerien people to control their resources; France is intent on asserting its control of its de facto colony.
Those who pin their hopes on logic and reason prevailing to cool tensions and provide for a diplomatic solution might as well hope to capture a mastodon trotting across the Nigerien desert. Ain’t going to happen. That hairy ancestor of the elephants is long gone. Are we going to see the extinction of France’s ability order its servants in Niger to fetch the uranium and to do so with alacrity?
Yes, blocked in Europa, Syria, and the ‘stans, humiliating ejection from Afganistan, checked in East Asia, crumbling of the econonomic hegemony, seeing the colonial legacy in Africa being cast off; he EOL rattles swords.
These are dangerous timez…
Latest I hear is that Lira has been ‘detained’ at the border. Further updates?
@ Curious
Lira’s story seems kind of strange. When you are running for your life, getting your papers in order is the last thing on your mind. You do that when you reach safety. Lots of people from India have entered as refugees into western countries, many still do. 99.9% claims are bogus. I guess they balance the scales for brain drain.
The usual modus operandi used to be to shred the passport and flush it in the aircraft toilet. No idea how it’s for Westerners themselves. And to telegraph your movements in advance…lol what could go wrong!
P.s. Larry, I’m not questioning your judgment but only want to say that you have a kind heart. Something just doesn’t click for this guy’s story.
There has been a lot of speculation.
The vidoes were made before his attempt, wherever that was. and released later, after the attempt was presumably made. They were to let people that he was omn the move and to begin efforts and inquiry if he didn’t release any in the future, as that would mean he didn’t make it.
I suggest that it only in movies that there is a ‘MO’ for escaping a country where you are in danger from authorities. In any case, there are special circumstances in 404. This is a war zone, not likely easy to find a concealed. foreested, etc. crossing site and less likely to find a unmonitored one, whether by drone, camera, sensors and human guards. The 404 border has been locked down using such methoids for a while they need to round up cannon fodder.
Larry’s post from Aug 1has a interesting take in it, I enourage you to review that.
The Duran has a useful discusion on Gonzalo Lira also on Aug 1. The clip is only 20 minutes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnz6yV45WN0
There are a lot of takes on this look at https://askeptic.substack.com/ last few days and you will find many.
The latest that wasn’t allowed to cross into Hungary by 404 guards. I wonder if there are any other updates.
stop making up nonsense , you dont know anything and never experience anything close to lira.
the right thing is to STOP SPECULATING , any accusation toward lira is just plain ignorance and hidden agenda..
you are typical ‘concern troll’ typical of many indian troll who pretend to speak politely but his post contain lies and venom ..
THIS IS DISCUSSION FORUM FOR NIGER ISSUE , STOP INJECTING YOUR LIES HERE
@Buntalanlucu
Grab a life and start your own blog since you deem yourself competent enough to instruct everyone. Have the comment section in multiple choices format so your sensibilities aren’t hurt. Write a book too while you’re at it.
Indian concern troll?? Seriously? Take out your frustrations on someone else, I ain’t the one. I’m not going to respond further to your half-witted accusations.
This is where the West proves its woke anti-racist mask was a complete act. I’ve always been amazed how nobody seemed capable of drawing a line between BLM and Africa.
Not sure what you are trying to say? Africans in Africa and black people in the US share very little except a line of distinct ancestory.
Sorry- I get what you are saying now. Agree.
If anything black and Asian Americans in leadership are the most gung ho for killing Africans and Asians and invading and stuff.
See Obama, Harris,Colin Powell, Austin. They don’t give a shit about black lives.
Truth is colour is irrelevant in power structures. All those within the system buy in to Western and American dominance at any cost.
Obama is as much an invader and coloniser as the Brits were. Libya from almost first work living standards is in shreds. Yet that oil and gas keep pumping.
One thing in common with Niger, Libya under Gaddafi wanted to stop selling to France too. Oh and he wanted an African currency and African infrastructure.
So. Colour doesn’t matter in power. Boden is as white as dead Ukrainians and Serbians and he doesn’t give 2 fucks.
The diversity at the top just adds to the look that the deamons are principled. It’s not racial you see. Just business. Of fucking the little guy over.
Obama is coconut. Brown on the outside, and white on the inside.
Slavs are more of an opposite, and that’s why USA loves killing them so much. White men can’t jump.
Color does matter. A lot.
Color provides cover. How could Obama, Harris,Colin Powell, Austin be racist, right? It’s very useful these demons are black because it disarms some of the attacks. And yes, of course they are racist, just can’t call them that.
The fine tradition of house slaves. Same story with Jean-Pierre.
Likewise Zelensky manipulates his jewish background.
“Black Lives Matter.”
As long as they’re politically useful. But when they’re not, they don’t.
I’ve asked these SJWs;
What have you done to alleviate the suffering of Black folks in your state?
Have you performed voluntary community service in a Black Neighborhood?
Or donated time, money or effort to charities, and other organizations, that help Black Folks?
Needless to say, crickets. Or I was blocked on social media.
They just want to wave signs and protest, and call people names. Not actually do anything for the people that they claim to care about. Or for the causes that they claim to support. It’s all ego stroking and false moralizing.
“False moralizing”
Thanks for the clear and blunt language.
I needed a more widely understood phrase than “virtue signalling”.
That is quite true. Executives,
woke or not, join “non profit” boards.
They get food and travel reimbursement even if they are not paid. The closest they want to get to the those served by the non profit is the CEO of the non profit. Then it is back to the country club. First to make sure they Linkedin page includes the non profit work. Who am I to judge? These are not people you should let watch your kids.
because BLM and AFRICA is totally different ISSUE ??
STAY ON TOPIC OF NIGER AND STOP TRYING TO DERAIL THE FLAG WITH BLM NONSENSE
The best business of all.
Boeing supplies Pentagon trash cans for (drum roll) USD$51,606 per can.
Senate Votes to Throw $886 Billion at Defense. How Much Money is Wasted?
01 August 2023
Refer: https://mishtalk.com/economics/senate-votes-to-throw-886-billion-at-defense-how-much-money-is-wasted/
from the article:
In 2020, the Pentagon paid Boeing over $200,000 for four of the trash cans, translating to roughly $51,606 per unit. In a 2021 contract, the company charged $36,640 each for 11 trash containers, resulting in a total cost of more than $400,000. The apparent overcharge cost taxpayers an extra $600,000 between the two contracts.
But it gets better – how about Boeing selling a four cent ($0.04) pin to Pentagon for $70. Now that’s not a bad markup.
Also from the article:
There are endless examples of contractors overcharging the Pentagon and fleecing the taxpayer. Sen. Warren mentioned just a few in this week’s hearing: paying $1,500 for a medical device that could be purchased at Walmart for $192; giving Boeing $70 for a pin that was worth four cents; and paying $1,800 for vaccines that normally cost $125. And as 60 Minutes noted after interviewing former Pentagon procurement official Shay Assad, “[t]he Pentagon, he told us, overpays for almost everything – for radar and missiles … helicopters … planes … submarines… down to the nuts and bolts.”
In the longer term, absent a near-term sudden all-out war erupting between the West and Russia / China, all the Russians and Chinese have to do is hold off the globalist fast-failing power grab and the oligarch parasites inside Rome – Oops I mean America – will simply bleed and plunder America and its allied puppet states to ruin.
The world has fast accelerating conflict zones flashing red hot, that could fast mimic WW1 events with one hot spot flashing way of control and drawing all other hot spots into a conflagration beyond worst imaginations.
Sadly as they go down the same rotten Anglo-American oligarchs are going to take down the entire Five Eyes group whose all-seeing eyes are now tight shut against reality. They have effectively blindfolded the people beyond any senseful sight.
They have successfully immersed us in a transgender wonderland kaleidoscope 3D Disney fantasies.
You have to hand it to them – it is certainly a masterfully crafted great show.
But this reminds me of the director I had in summer stock theater back in 1968 in Flat Rock, North Carolina.
She’d sit midway in the audience section and when necessary would yell out: “I don’t believe you!!!!!”
So the Auditors in the Pentagon drive very nice cars and live in nice homes……..
@ Paul Greenwood
I was going to ask about the audit dept of US govt but I guess those would be the first to be compromised. I guess this is the end state of placing your own corrupt guys at necessary posts. People are too worn out to do anything about it.
Paul, kindly help me find that video of an Indian army General ripping apart Fareed Zakaria. I tried hard but no luck. Any suggestion you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Whether he was a Sikh with a Turban, interviewer was a female, channel name etc. I hate that guy along with Colbert with a passion. Thank you in advance.
Possibly $51K trash cans is a corrupt payoff, there are, as you point out, many of these. OTOH, every now and then, this is a method to pay for a black project that “does not exist”; and when/if that is the case, those who know cannot speak publicly but manage to block inquiry.
Perhaps I just like to imagine that USA is pulling a Sun Tzu ie. “appear weak when you are strong” by deploying overpriced weapons that do not work and using the cost overruns to build secret weapons that do. As an aging USAF veteran I know that this was once the case. Is it now only corruption using the older procedure for cover? I am not in a position to know.
In USA, “pulling a Sun Tzu” probably means going to chinese food drive in, or maybe something that costs extra at local Taiwanese massage parlor.
Those secret weapons are so secret, that even people that operate them don’t know they exist.
“deploying overpriced weapons that do not work and using the cost overruns to build secret weapons that do”.
and those that do??? Which ones would that be? Maybe the F-35?, you’re an air force man. Is there a jet that the US has under cover for the failed F-35 that we spent Trillions of dollar for? Or the Navy’s littoral combat ship (LCS)… maybe we have something hidden we took for those aliens we captured at area 51? With the “cost overruns”, maybe have the “starship Enterprise” from Star Trek? How can anyone today try and justify the Trillion dollar annual budget of the US DoD? I hope your post has some Sun Tzu therum. Because I can’t see the strength of your opinion.
Aliens. They will save USA. News are full of them. /s
P.S. After recent balloon shenanigans, it takes really special kind of idiots to believe that the thing that fell in Rosvell was an alien ship (even disregarding the fact that Soviets shot bunch of those alien balloons back in the day, and even used parts of them).
Very good point Snow Leopard
For those who have dug deep into the ‘other Amerika’ and the massive dark pools of hard finance and hidden wealth, there is good evidence to indicate that the Deep State actors who rule the roost have amassed wealth far greater than what is currently entered on official balance sheets. It is all off balance sheet in very dark pools – most notably the Exchange Stabilization Fund

Many trillions of dollars which have been literally stolen from the US people out of US government agencies – this has been thoroughly researched and validated from Government books by Economic Professor Mark Skidmore and Catherine Austin Fitts.

Add to that all the wealth that has been stripped from all the vassal states around the world over the last one hundred years or more. Mind-boggling.
Once you spent some time down that rabbit hole it will become all too apparent that there are in fact two parallel universes of finance in America and the world – the most powerful and immensely wealthy universe, with money and assets far in excess of governments on earth combined, is the universe which the Deep State dark power wizards of finance inhabit and controls.
Then consider what must run into trillions of spending on the warrens of underground bunkers purpose-built across America for the all-out holocaust when the secret weapons will be unveiled in all their glorious horror i.e. those weapons that carried on being developed in Amerika by the Paperclip Nazi’s and the Deep State Nazi cohorts in Amerika who had already developed technologies that are still well hidden from public gaze. Dr Joseph Farrell has researched and written exhaustive number of books on this subject and has presented compelling evidence in YouTube presentations.
If there is any substance to these claims (and I am convinced that there are) then be assured that USSR and now Russia and China will have been keeping themselves well informed on such developments and most likely as with atomic bomb developments there will bound to have been a few scientists working on Amerika projects who will have been feeding info to the USSR/Russia and China so as to ensure balance of ‘equally assured destruction’ has been maintained. So assume all the three major powers will have comparative planet-destroying war weapons technologies.
This also might explain why in spite of what is available in public domain about state-of-the-art American weapons systems and their seeming lagging behind Russia and China in many current conventional weapons systems (e.g. hypersonic missiles), yet still the American Neocon Wartards are so cocky and pushing all boundaries and stepping over red lines everywhere expressing sense of extreme invincibility.
Sadly the future prognosis is not at all good and gives little hope for any fact-based optimism.
History of all ruling elites over the long course of empires has never ended in anything but disaster, brought on by abject hubris and insanity that the gods visit on those whom they are about to destroy.
But none of the previous empires had either the global reach or the horrifying destructive capabilities that current Anglo-American empire has at its disposal – not did any previous empires have adversaries with such equally destructive weapons technologies.
Nah, all that extra money is spent on blackjack and hookers.
Expect to see the horror stories about Nigerien atrocities against westerners and ‘ friends of westerners’ in the msm, to convince the west’s dumb citizens that invading another country most don’t know exists is in a humanitarian cause ….
Or maybe not …..
I feel the US and the west are going to get whacked in one of these smaller places.
Either that or some related group will unleash hell somewhere. A few hundred civilian drones crashing with explosives somewhere, sometime. Forget Ukraine-world is changing none the less. Football season…
That happened in Somalia with the Blackhawk Down situation. Now the Somalis all live here. I wonder where Lutheran Social Services will plant the Nigeriens. Not Martha’s Vineyard.
us not ready for dji drones in the hands of hostile states.
Smaller places ???????
Niger = 490,000 sq. miles and 99% Muslim
Burkina Faso = 105,900 sq miles and 74% Muslim
Mali = 479,000 sq miles and 95% Muslim
Afghanistan = 252,000 sq miles
Ukraine = 233,000 sq miles
Iraq = 169,000 sq miles
So this “smaller place” has a land area greater than TX + CA combined and is Muslim
and the Colonial Master France is telling them to fall in line or US+ France will show them what Neo-Colonial Enslavement looks like…………
Wow….I bet China and Russia and India and Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and Indonesia are just watching wide-eyed as West self-destructs
Most is desert.
People are in the smaller area near Mali border not spread out like in Ukraine. So operational zone is smaller.
What is the actual usage of uranium fuel in France? I suspect that with less than 100 plants that only refuel every 2-3 years it’s not very high.
High or not high, looking at that chart o see France easily losing half of their supply. Imagine having to shut down half if your plants.
Half of the plants are down
( already 2 years )..Maintenance….
Speaking about perfect planning !!
Gee how about that. It almost looks deliberate
FYI Fredrick
From the World Nuclear Association
Refer: https://www.world-nuclear.org/nuclear-essentials/how-is-uranium-made-into-nuclear-fuel.aspx
About 27 tonnes of uranium is required each year for a 1000 MWe pressurized water reactor (that is the amount needed to produce the 18 million fuel pellets housed in over 50,000 fuel rods to produce 1000 MW of 1 GW)
This from the U.S. Energy Information Administration
Refer: https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=55259
France has 56 operable nuclear reactors with a total capacity of 61 gigawatts (GW), second only to the 95 GW nuclear fleet in the United States.
Forbes refers to Politico source stating France receives 15% of its total uranium imports from Niger (other sources state it is 20% and others higher than that. But let’s assume 15%)
Refer: https://www.forbes.com/sites/anafaguy/2023/08/01/why-the-niger-coup-has-sparked-concerns-about-nuclear-power/?sh=35029ac22738
From the article:
While Niger only accounts for a small percentage of global production of uranium—about 5% according to the World Nuclear Association—it is a major supplier of uranium for France, which receives some 15% of its uranium supply from the Western African nation, according to Politico and the EU which gets more than 20% of its uranium from Niger, according to the Euratom Supply Agency.
1,000 MW is 1 GW.
France has total 61 GW nuclear power plant capacity.
27 tonnes of uranium is required for every 1 GW
15% of France total installed nuclear power production capacity is 9.15 GW
9.15 GW requires 27 x 9.15 tonnes of uranium per annum which totals just over 247 tonnes of uranium per year.
However sources state that France has a couple of years of stocked uranium which would be necessary for buffer in event of any one supply region being suddenly unable to supply for whatever reason.
So there is no immediate problem whatsoever.
Regardless of all that, France and America and allied Neocolonial resource stripping fascist corporate regimes do not want to lose the still extremely cheap resources that they have been extracting and exploiting for pennies on real dollar cost / market value that Niger and so many other adjoining African nations have in such abundance still under their earth.
Aside from uranium Niger has considerable natural gas and oil reserves and many other very valuable resources.
Other natural resources of Niger include uranium, coal, gold, iron ore, tin, phosphates, petroleum, molybdenum, salt, and gypsum.
Niger also has lots of rich arable land and forestry.
It is not about the actual resources -although that matters too – but about not letting the slaves think they might break free.
The West will try to teach Niger a horrible lesson for their disobedience and insolence – a public “shock-n awe” flogging in a NATO lynching.
Allan,
“Uranium mines operate in many countries, but more than 85% of uranium is produced in six countries: Kazakhstan, Canada, Australia, Namibia, Niger, and Russia.”
Looks like 5 other sources of Uranium are available. Of course given what the Australians did to France over a submarine contract they might not be to willing to rely on that country as a source; then those pesky sanctions eliminate Russia (and probably Kazakhstan) as a potential source. Given what is happening next door in South Africa Nambia may not be too stable in the near future. Maybe Macron can invite Trudeau over to discuss a deal? Of course they could always rely on ‘climate change’ friendly wind and solar like the Germans…..
This is whose ox is being gored here, and they don’t just sell to France, they own 9% of the global market.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orano
You sure ?
How about the new build nuclear power plants and the reactors in nuclear submarines and the M51 warheads in Triomphant class SSBNs ?
In 2020 France consumed 8,700 tonnes uranium
I have heard something about 40% coming from Niger, as well as a lot of gold.
30% ish.
France has been quietly raping West Africa for years. Taking everything of value. Now they get taken down in chains.
Macron doesn’t quite get how much the French are hated. And deserve to be hated.
Ofcourse ordinary French people will say “wasn’t me” while blowdrying their croissants with electricity from African raped Uranium. Moi? Non. C’est impossible. Ta galle
I wonder how much Africans know about France’s rape of Haiti. All those slaves who were freed by the revolutionary Haitian government back in 1803 ? In 1825, France decided they wanted the former slave owners to be paid back for their “lost property”. This is the infamous “Charles X Ransom”, and it was a stinking huge amount of money. This was blackmail enforced by a naval blockade by France, Spain, England, and … the US. In the 1860’s the US government made itself a “guarantor” of the Ransom. In 1900, 80% of the Haitian government revenue was still going to pay off the Ransom. So if you wonder why Haiti is so miserable and poor, don’t look at the black skins of the people there, look instead at the wealth of France – because Haiti was a source of French prosperity. This Ransom was only finally paid back in 1947, so it’s not ancient history !
The Ransom is briefly discussed in the book, Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer (2003), a must-read for anyone in public health. or who wants to understand ways to fix the world. The elite class of France have a lot to answer for. French citizens are trying to redress their own grievances. France has its own upheaval underway, but you wouldn’t know it from the French MSM. Real French news in English is scarce but a great source is Ramin Mazaheri, who works for Iran’s Press TV and has lived in Paris for many years. If your French is pretty good, you can “drink from the firehose” at egaliteetreconciliation.fr which has occasional items in English. You’ll be shocked and amazed. BTW, that site is where I learned how French banking steals Africa’s wealth, a/k/a neo-colonialism.
Wow. I didn’t know that. I don’t think many do. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve read France has a 3 year supply of uranium.
My guess: 1. France got the uranium on the cheap, and the mining company is part of the French elite so the profits went to the “near and dear”, and
2. Niger getting control of its exports is more about falling dominoes and de-neo-colonization such as removing French banking (which steals 25% of the bank deposits every year, or so I’ve read), than about France starving for fuel.
Macron is really showing the swine that is the government du France. 20 more nations applied for BRICS upon learning the truth of French philanthropy. 20 more will tomorrow. I wonder how many nations have sent notices that they want to join but please don’t tell the US until they can’t bomb us.
So far the west has demonstrated its inferior: diplomacy, logistics, aircraft, missiles, air defense, artillery, electronic warfare, tanks, soldiers and best of all, opera!
hope Gonzalo is in Belarus and moving outside of 404 control.
What can be more needed for alk the bruised egos, after the EU had their pompous asses handed to them, to come out of the “Garden” and go all out and “throw a shithole country up against the wall.” Russia kicks their ass, they kick Niger’s ass. That has always been what European courage is all about; taking on only those who can’t hurt Europe too bad. Europe is a joke. The rumor is that the Nigerian army is getting some good anti aircraft Western equipment from Ukraine. What a shit show it weaves, when Europe begins to deceive. Wouldn’t that be special, French fighter jets brought down by Stingers and pilots ejecting into a crowd of angry Nigerians armed with machetes. Europe just can’t win for loosing.
I suspect it is “le gouvernement” and “la France” which makes “du France” somewhat oddball…….
Greetings Larry, Again thanks for your several videos !!!
Yes indeed ! It will be interesting to see what is going on !
What Russia, China and India would do ?
Of course, this players have a base knowledge of chess Strategy and tactics…
because yesterday landed in Moscow from Algeria a master ‘Bishop/Knight/Rook’
-all in one word-
“Moscow, August 1.
Chief of Staff of the Algerian People’s National Army General Said Chengriha has arrived in Russia to meet with the country’s Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, the Algerian embassy in Moscow told TASS.”
With how many African countries does Algeria have a common border?
To the southeast… by Niger, to the southwest… by Mali, Mauritania, and Western Sahara…among others…
Well, the number of chess moves made in the history of the Royal game is incalculable and classic chess puzzles has stumped many players…
Playing Chess can help promote our creativity, learn other languages, get innovation in other areas of our life, such as some Geopolitics….
Not to mention the pipeline going there.
Tinubu has no legitimacy to wage this war. He himself is not really democratic and is possibly subjected to blackmail by the United States and France for his drug dealing and money laundering affairs… Geopolitically, it would make sense for Nigeria to cut down French power to size in west Africa as they would clearly lead the bloc. Nigeria with proper leadership can achieve this objective, they’ve already beaten France during the Biafra war. Back then all logistics, intelligence and war planning was done by the French general staff in coordination with Jacques Foccart, Pierre Mesmer and De Gaulle. And still, a much stronger France backed by Israel lost the war to seize the oil rich region. But not before the death of 3 million Biafrans. It was the start of their regime change NGO doctors without borders… Right now, should a corrupt Tinubu decide to take the bait and become the African Zelensky, the ECOWAS will assuredly implode. The people of the region are not duped, we understand that such a war is not on our interests.
Thanks to the US intelligence agencies taking over social media (in addition to the traditional media) it is impossible to tell who has been legitimately “democratically elected”. Example:
U.S. Pushing Regime Change War In Ethiopia
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEGoIO4K9cY
Sadly, the only answer to that, assuming the nation has a secure way of voting and counting ballots, are closed national internets and information spaces.
The real irony here is that George Soros and the Open Society NGOs are behind all of these color revolutions but what they will produce in the end is a world of Closed Societies. IMHO
Thanks to the US intelligence agencies taking over social media (in addition to the traditional media) it was never easier to tell who has been legitimately “democratically elected”. Those that US supports are not.
This with a tip to Marck Crispin Miller for pointing it out:
https://www.newswars.com/cia-moderating-wikipedia-former-editor/
I know wikipedia is only moderately useful, perhaps for how many cups in a pint sort of thing. It had never occurred to me that wikipedia was a CIA front. Doh! Makes perfect sense, even if not 100%. It’s subject to the Gellman effect and to repeat perjury.
When everything the american public knows is false…
Why I think that Nigeria will not intervene in Niger.
First, Nigeria hasn’t gotten the money to squander on stupid military misadventures. It is virtually a bankrupt nation, ran aground by the insatiable greed of its otiose political elites. Long suffering Nigerian workers are slated to embark on a nation-wide strike as we speak.
Even if Tinubu were to magically conjure up the money, how will he sell his intervention to a very angry and restless Nigerians? How will he justify expending humongous money to send troops to go an rescue a French puppet in Niamey? Let’s not forget that the legitimacy of his presidency is yet to be determined by the tribunal. A leader whose election is being hotly contested is hardly one to give preachments on the sanctity of democracy!
Second, and more importantly, any stupid mistake will engulf the whole West Africa in uncontrollable firestorms! Anyone who lives in West Africa will be aware that the region sits on a tinderbox!
Third, any intervention will not carry popular support; the politicians have hugely disappointed the people. No dividend has redounded to the masses from their huge investment in democracy!
Fourth, Per International law, the only authority to authorize a military intervention is the United Nations Security Council. How will Tinubu and his fellow dreamers get a UNSC vote without Russia and China vetoing them to kingdom come? Or, will they allow themselves to be goaded by their curators in the West to compound their folly with more illegality?
Fifth, the very idea of military intervention in Niger has already shredded any notion of ECOWAS unity. Mali and Burkina Faso have declared their intention to join forces with Niger’s forces. Algeria is also reported to have threatened to step in on the side of Niger. Will Tinubu risk an African World War so early in his presidency?
Sixth, The Ethnic Factor: Like in almost all of Africa, European cartographers who shredded the continent in 1884 paid no heed to the national/ethnic composition of the societies they arbitrarily carved into the colonial garrisons that they called countries. The result is that many tribes have more loyalty to their tribal groups than to these colonial inventions called countries. In the case of Nigeria, the Hausas formed large segments of the population of both countries. It is difficult to imagine the Hausa in Nigeria to slaughtering their people in Niger on behalf of a French puppet.
ECOWAS Misleaders should have no doubt that the words of the junta leader in Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traore,: “A slave that does not rebel does not deserve pity. The AU must stop condemning Africans who decide to fight against their own puppet regimes of the West.” resonates with the African masses.
Lastly, any intelligent African will know that only foreign arms merchants will reap any benefit from any confrontation.
Very well articulated and an important contextual complement to Larry’s article. Thank you, Femi.
Femi, am I right that Tchiani (the coup leader) is ethnically more akin to the Hausa than the deposed Bazoum? Bazoum is “the first Arab president of Niger” (Wikipedia). The Hausa are the largest ethnic group in Niger (and constitute most of northern Nigeria, as you know). The north of Nigeria is where Nigeria has the biggest problem with Boko Haram. Even though everyone in Niger is Muslim, I agree that it could cause trouble among “northerners” (Hausa of Nigeria) to side with the light-skinned, Euro-aligned Bazoum against the (to be blunt) darker Tchiani, especially since Tchiani is anti-France.
The short answer was given in my write up – the ordinary Africans who live on both sides of these colonial borders pay no heed to the artificial constructions. They conduct their affairs like their ancestors used to do. National officials tacitly acknowledge the reality as these people are not subjected to immigration or border controls like people from afar.
Bazoum might be Arab, but it would be impossible to distinguish him from the Fulanis who populate much of the Sahel region.
I will not say that it is impossible, but it is pretty difficult to imagine the scenario whereby Hausas will be locking horns over Nigerian versus Nigerienne affairs.
Nigeria has a strong Muslim component which might feel affinity with Sahel Ummah
Thanks Femi, that’s invaluable and provides much more depth to the events that are taking place.
Thank you for your reasoning. Mind if I share it on another platform? “The Duran” community. They’re terrific!
Also there are other reasons that Nigeria won’t intervene in Niger. It seems the new rulers in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger have strong grassroots support, while Nigeria as you said is basically a vassal state of the west without much popular support which faces a lot of economic problems too. So the situation is very risky for Nigeria and its backers. The new government in Niger seems to be resolute about the country’s national sovereignty and about booting France out for good. Moreover, Guinea and recently Algeria are joining the movement then Niger is no longer landlocked. The latter will go against France and its bigger handler the US globalists which make the whole affair a giant undertaking if Nigeria actually tries invading Niger in the first place.
I wonder if Niger’s coup has a religious element to it? Would alliances in Africa fall along religious lines as well as tribal?
Years ago I read a book on global Christianity which pointed out that there were about equal numbers of Muslims and Christians in the world (in 2007) but that Christianity was growing a little faster than Islam. — https://www.amazon.ca/Next-Christendom-Coming-Global-Christianity/dp/019518307X — The author predicted, quite accurately it turns out, that countries like Nigeria, with close to an equal divide between the two religions were headed for a lot of violence.
Dear Africa
Russian Air Defence speaks louder than, “NatoNazi Rules.”
Ask the families of 350 thousand + KIA Ukrainians .
Or the President of Afghanistan and Syria.
It’s Time to Punch Back Africa.
I hope Niger “finds” air defense weapons short range/medium range and anti tank weapons to defend themselves!
Larry,
I would say no. The war they REALLY want is China. Note following article. And they are already spread too thin.
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/biden-now-wants-arm-taiwan-using-ukraine-budget
The Zelensky UkroNazi money is now going to Taiwan. They know Ukraine is lost. And my God they can taste the war with China. As to whether France and Germany try something in Africa? Not sure there. and who cares. Africa is a shithole and black hole (no pun) that money and dreams go to die in.
And of course, it is a smarter move. Because China is a paper tiger. Their military is a huge joke of iron rice bowl patronage spending. They have not a single warrior or killer. The only conflicts they have had in recent history is with India on the border with sticks. In more distant history Vietnam whipped their ass. We face the long supply chains of course, but unlike Russia? We could whip China’s ass. And of course, you can actually sanction China. China imports shit in, massages it, and ships it back for the mercantilist cut. We cut the supply cord, and Xi will be lynched in 4 months.
We cannot beat Russia. China is a fucking joke. So, this pivot actually makes sense. And of course, the humor of it. Xi somewhat helping Russia fight ITS fucking battle, but not really helping. Well. Well. I look forward to Putin helping Xi EXACTLY as much.
And of course, when we “win”? The USA will be crippled. There will be carriers at the bottom of the China Sea. This will not be China’s future of domination. It will be Russia’s. Think about it. The USA isolated and turned inward after a “winning” debacle with China. The EU has destroyed their economies with their insane “Green” agendas and losing war on Russia. And who stands? Russia.
The gas station with nukes. The cosmic fucking hilarity of it.
Funny that you think of Africa as a shithole, what do you see when you look at Oakland, Chicago or San Francisco, to name just a few examples of the shiny hills in your own country. Those Zombie-like characters high on fentanyl and other chemical enhancements.
Is there a reason why you Americans see the pebbles in other people’s eyes, while ignoring the logs in yours?
So, American forces are the greatest and the bestest, Chinese forces are joke! You failed to mention that American forces have lost every single war they fought since 1945. Oops, sorry, you WON in Grenada. Applause!
You manifested all the traits people find so OFFENSIVE and so ODIOUS about the USA!
Femi, +1,000,000
Some of us Americans find Curt’s outlook odious. Not enough, unfortunately. “Kicking China’s ass” was funny, but also terrifying to think anyone in the US believes that.
Pretty clear old curt has never left the shores of his safe little white enclave. American ignorance of China is stunning, but like its ignorance of Russia the price the USA will pay is going to be very high. The Curt’s of the world will never understand what hit them
Actually, I am a US Army veteran. Served in Europe and South America. And then did security work all over South America including Venezuela. I am a student of military history. Which led me early on to how Russia would dominate the US and NATO in Ukraine. And why I support Russia in their current endeavor. I actually think we are the “bad” guy in the conflict with China. But that does not change the calculus that the Chinese are not warriors. They are merchants. And incredibly vulnerable since they survive based on an import/export cycle. But carry on with your judgements.
Ok, Curt, but it’s not like China would be invading the US. Any fight would be on their home turf. As you noted, our carriers would be sunk by their hypersonic missiles. Our planes would have to operate from other countries and their range would be limited. Rand Corp and the Pentagram have war-gamed it multiple times and the US loses every time. The logistics favor the country that is the manufacturing hub of the world. Warrior / merchant … that sounds like delusions of grandeur (or adequacy).
This is a reply to Sentient for which there appears no reply button. “it’s not like China would be invading the US”.
They already have. You are eating Chinese pork. https://cdn.videy.co/tr7tjQiy.mp4#t=0.001 They have fired salvos against us which there has been no response. (intellectual theft, fentanyl) There is an army coming across the border as we speak. (young military age males)
We are living in a cycle of change and all is possible. Head on a swivel.
If given the choice, 80% of the African population would come to the USA. Africa is, for the most part, a shit hole. The USA has declined severely, but anything like Africa?? C’mon.
The point has to be made and driven home repeatedly, that the poverty of Africa is primarily due to colonization and, since “independence”, neo-colonization. All those corrupt rulers are pawns of France and the UK, condemned to do the bidding of the foreign masters who plunder the natural resources and make damn sure there is no African industrialization that could compete with imported goods.
BTW, America has had to deal with British neo-colonialism. By the early 1800’s, London realized it could make heavy profits from their former colonies if they could dominate American banking. Any historian knows that control of the US banking system was a major constant thread throughout the 1800’s and even since. It’s too off-topic for details, but the mechanisms of neo-colonial depredation in Africa are similar, but more crude and more rapacious, to what the US experienced.
Applaud, Femi!!!!
Curt Nichols’ post is an example of how typical, utterly brainwashed, Americans “think” and view the world — “America” is this beacon of [insert your choice of delusion here], bestest in, well, everything. It magically:
– won all the wars it started [in their delusional fentanyl and Hollywood induced virtual world],
– has the “most powerful military in the Galaxy” (who cares they get their ass handed to them in every military atrocity their Khazarian masters sent them to over the last 70+ years), and
– all other nations around the world are either “gas stations” or “shit holes” or simply “fucking jokes”.
The sad reality is that even after the US (and EU for a good company) sinks deep into abject poverty (thanks to insurmountable debt, complete de-industrialization, and rapacious monopolization of the so called “free” market by all sorts of health-/tech- and other monopolies) and, possibly civil war, most people like Curt Nichols will still believe they live in “democracy”, and the “best nation under God”, blah-blah-blah. That’s how deep, profound, and effective the brainwashing has been.
Hey Femi! Thanks for your info. I passed it on to Vanessa Beeley and my community group. That “curt” dude’s obviously some mercenary playing “war games” and probably thought bombing wedding parties and playing with the Sandanistas was play time. I didn’t have to learn “military history”. I just talked to my Dad who served in a REAL WAR in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Nothing to be proud of. Any real human being knows taking another’s life is a terrible thing that never goes away. Vanessa agrees and so do many others knowing the instability of that region. I live near Seattle. A total 3rd world!! Same in Portland, San Fran, Oakland, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, NYC, and we have 11 million illegal immigrants that come through our Borders from the Middle East and Asia. Few are from South America. The USA is a steaming cesspool ready to explode. All of Washington D.C. are Criminal and Corrupt including the CIA, FBI, DOJ, Pentagon, Democrats, Republicans, Senate, Congress, the White House. The whole lot. We did to ourselves what we imposed on others. Serves us right. I don’t see “curt” doing a thing to save the USA! He swore an oath to the Constitution of the United States and here he sits scathing another country when he doesn’t even make a stand for his own. What a CLOWN. Yes, I found out how obnoxious Americans were when I went to Europe. Fortunately my heinz-57 looks made people think I was European so kept my mouth shut. Sure got better service!!
The “huge joke” that is China makes 10 times more steel than the US per year, has 20,000 miles of high speed rail to our zero, has more engineers than we do citizens, has achieved working quantum communications, has 4X our population, average IQ 104 to our 97, a rising life expectancy to our falling life expectancy (lowest in 20 years and falling), a Navy about the size of the US, and nuclear weapons. Pretty sure they won’t go along with your predictions. I read the article about how the US can’t successfully manufacture wrenches. The F-35 can’t stand heat, or cold, and can’t fly within 25 miles of lightning or electrical storms. When ECM hit these planes hard, are they going to brick? I think yes, but we’ll see. Anyway, we’d be nuked if we started a war with China, and that’s game over.
China produces more steel in one year than Britain produced since 1860 in total
America “Whip,” Chinas ass ?
Musk licks it, Biden has both hands covering it.
Rome COLLAPSED broke.
Hitler went FOR broke.
Britannia doesn’t KNOW it is broke.
USSR ended up DEAD broke.
America will EXPLODE broke.
China will OWN iPhones as it steams Americas balls like dim sims.
Let’s be honest, NATOs balls are being deep fried 24/7. Ask Kirby! he has animated speech and hand movements that indicates an electric probe has been well and truly inserted. The big Black General is no doubt glad he is out of there.
( I hope he enjoys his well earned retirement.)
Foresure there is “New World Order,” and it’s got new management.
No, the war they really want is a war they are guaranteed to win.
They didn’t win big against Russia. They might have started developing doubts about China.
But some backward country in Africa? A country which they and their allies had under control until fairly recently? A country in which its allies have a vested interest, too (allies which are not especially keen in waging war against China)?
If someone else sends in the infantry, they will be overjoyed to send in the air force – an air force they sadly could not use against Russia (and probably would not be able to use against China). To show all of Africa what happens to countries that don’t support the wars started by their betters (who don’t want to be called colonialists any more).
China manufactures nearly 100% of the antibiotics we rely on in the U.S.
China also manufactures 77% of all prescription drugs we use in the U.S.
The average American retiree has four prescriptions taken daily just to get through the day.
Imagine that gone in a day if China sanctioned us. Imagine that chaos.
And that is only one of hundreds of way’s China could wreak havoc.
China does not need to go to war against US and EU. it is enough to stop delivering raw materials needed to production. Game over!!!
“the United States and France reportedly are cooking up a military operation to dethrone the coup plotters.”
Africa is nearly the perfect theatre of operations for light infantry and special forces. It’s been the pattern of warfare there for ages.
Really? Africa is a shit hole? Uganda had an higher GDP than Ukraine in jan 2022
For Muricans, everything outside USA is shithole. That’s how we got here in the first place.
So a dollar?
As the leader of the Niger coup put it to America, “we don’t need your aid, go give it to your millions of homeless. Charity begins at homes.”
If you weren’t such a thicko, you would know that homo sapiens are an African species, so you insult your own ancestors fool. But in your case it may be true that you came out of a shithole.
Try googling Cape Town, Kigale, Nairobi, press images. Loads of Americans moving to Africa to get out of the ruins of a western civilization built on the blood of others.
At least Africans know what s woman is. Did you see nominated American ambassador to Jamaica’s wife? The one with a beard. Jamaica has refused to accept the ambassador. Not like your shithole.
Correct.
Shitsville USA is sliding down Main street and it’s getting faster everyday. The truth is stranger than fiction. You cannot make it up.
Have close look at the foot ball crowds pumping USA USA.
Who the hell wants 10 or 20 million American refugees, football on the weekend anal sex Monday to Friday!
And Florida by the way has another leprosy out break that has got the medical folks worried. Everything going wrong, all of at once.
China has nuclear weapons. Why should they not use them?
And destroying another army doesn’t mean that you conquered the country. The US army can not control a country like China.
The age-old robbery and slavery of the African people by the so-called civilization of the West is the cancer of humanity’s wounds from the Crusades that were the prelude to Colonialism, which introduced the NWO rule of the world, One Government rules the world is the complete evil of the West, which is opposed by Russia as a culture of the Spirit that is eternally averted the door so that it could enter well. It’s time to open that door to all of humanity, which has become a colony of evil.
Just speculating (as always). Let’s say European powers decide to interfere militarily in Niger to secure Uranium supplies (and the US drone base). I wonder if the African diaspora in France, Italy, Germany and so on might object and try to shut things down by protesting (rioting) in Western countries? Good opportunity! Talk about a quagmire, I recall 4 US special forces were killed in Niger back in Oct. 2017, the “Tongo Tongo Ambush”. I have the impression there are some pretty hard core folks in Niger and the surrounding countries that might enjoy shooting at foreigners if they come invading. I’m sure “Nigerians vs Nigeriens” would cause a good bit of head spin and confusion in the US. I had a Nigerian neighbor who said he has to explain to Americans over and over that Africa is not a country! Anyway, colonialism is out of style, it will look pretty damned stark if that pissant Macron goes to the public trying to justify an invasion of Niger (not to ask permission of course but to explain after the fact).
We still have the other flash points. In Syria reportedly US drones are “locking” weapons on Russian planes. US nuclear powered and armed subs visit S. Korea for the first time in 40 years (USS Kentucky, USS Annapolis) while N. Korea fumes, rattles nukes and tests various weapons. New tensions with Iran over US/Iran siezures of oil at sea, so more F16 and F35 to the ME along with a destroyer, USS Thomas Hudner. What could go wrong, I suspect Iran is warming up ship killer missiles, air defense, fast attack boats, etc. Rockets are flying by or on a US base in Syria. (I saw an AP news article calling this site the “Mission Support Site Conoco” which is pretty sickening, I think Conoco is heading up the oil stealing venture for the Biden regime.) US drones over the Black Sea perhaps directing pinpoint attacks against ammo dumps, bridges, shipping and so on. Not sure why those drones are allowed to stay in the air honestly. Incursions reported at the Polish border with a troop buildup and military expansion by Poland now. Talks about “security guarantees” from the G7 for Ukraine whatever that might mean. As the Ukraine situation develops, what happens if Ukraine is on the verge of absolute defeat, what would the Western security guarantees imply happens next? We know that Russia reserves the right to use nukes in the event of an existential threat to Russia, isn’t that correct? We still have nuclear capable F16s scheduled for Ukraine from what I understand, what is Russia going to do then?
From the Russian side, escallations include bombing ports in Eastern Ukraine exactly on Nato’s border at times, declaration of semi-blockade for Ukraine ports (I say that because apparently three ships from Israel, Greece and Turkiye just went through the Black Sea then up the river to the eastern port area without being intercepted, were they bombed or damaged while in-port?). Visits by Russia and China to N. Korea. China as always is protesting about arms sales to Taiwan but not intercepting them (?). The biggest development at the moment I think is Chinese export controls on gallium and germanium, as of Aug 1, which might cause significant damage to the US chip making industry and the MIC (yippee!), and to Japanese industry, which will counter their military buildup. Perhaps this is the best practical response of all as opposed to a weapons blockade. This is the catalog of threats in my thinking, I’m sure I’m forgetting a few. Someone has to keep track, kind of like Monk on the TV show “Monk”. Thanks to our host for the informative and timely interviews.
Here is an article in Global Research
French Invasion of Niger could Turn Into an “All-out Franco-African War”?
By Drago Bosnic
“This could end in a disaster for France, as yet another military defeat in the area would inevitably lead to a complete collapse of the neocolonial system it left in place in the 1960s. On the other hand, if Paris doesn’t intervene, this will happen anyway, albeit at a somewhat slower pace. Either way, the dilemma inevitably results in a geopolitical catch-22, as leaving things as they are could also encourage others to revolt against Western neocolonialism elsewhere in Africa and possibly beyond.”
https://www.globalresearch.ca/french-invasion-of-niger-could-turn-into-an-all-out-franco-african-war/5827642
No matter what France and the West does, he is in a dilemma. He does nothing, then France has a problem. By the way, so does Germany, which has to buy nuclear power from France. Then other African countries will be encouraged to expel Western colonizers as well. The plundering of Africa’s wealth of raw materials is becoming increasingly difficult.
Any military attack is against international law. Even an attack by the members of ECOWAS. Was the accusation against Russia, because of the accusation: Violation of international law already a bad joke, then even more so now. I remind you, only the U.N. Security Council can decide on a military invasion on a country. I would imagine that China, for example, could veto it. The corrupt Secretary General of the UN is breaking international law himself by allowing the invasion? That would be the end of the UN.
No matter what the West does, it loses. Even if an invasion would be successful.
@ Heikomr
thank you, a very ying to hold sand good insight into the situation in Niger. It’s like people trying to hold/grasp sand in their hands. It slips out, however hard they try to contain it.
Let us see if Wagner’s troops are taking sides with the Coup leaders. Will the French be surprised if they get weapons from Russia to take on the French?
What would be the effect of body bags coming home to Paris?
Will it unify the French people or not?
Or will it become a race war given so many negroes in France? My guess is the latter. Race war Baby!!
Would you like some poison with that croissant and coffee Sir?
Thinks the black waiter to his Gallic patron.
” a race war given so many negroes in France?”
You will find more North Africans and Maghrebis than Blacks – but then again Islam is a binder
More than 5% of the nation of France is from Africa they say. About 7 million are Arabs. The population is about 67.75 million. Hey, that’s enough for a race war!
Helter Skelter!
Hi Larry, may I venture a guess on this one : “It will be interesting to see where Russia, China and India line up in this brewing conflagration.”
India will stay out as usual but I think Russia and China would not pass up an opportunity to give French and Americans a proxy war . Only this time it will be Americans and French dying while Chinese and Russians supplying the war material.
and Qatar and UAE………..
remember what the leader in Nigeria said………they are flooded with weapons from Ukraine – NATO weapons
We may see where all those missing Stingers have gone.
Spot on, payback is a real bitch who gets everything.
I have wondered a lot about all this Wagner show. Now I could imagine that the guys have been moved to Mali. We will know soon, if France attacks.
I believe that Algeria also stated that they will not allow any military intervention, and if that is true, since they are armed to the teeth and also have access to coast for receiving supplies from RU and CHN, and direct border with Niger, I don’t expect that any intervention against Niger is having any chance of succeeding, even if they help just passively.
“A DIRE SITUATION IN WEST AFRICA . . . .”
You mean “a dire situation in Westernized Africa.” Will the West be kicked out of a whole continent? Forget distinctions like “West Africa.” I could see a whole continent getting together to kick the West out this time. When the African warlords can no longer rule in peace, plundering their countries at Will, and all by themselves, that’s when they rise up, unify, and band together. There is no way an African warlord can stand-up to the biggest warlord of them all alone. But take on the Western Hegemon together? Now we’re talking.
This wouldn’t be the first time the West has been kicked out of a whole country before. In China there was the Boxer Rebellion. After the West was kicked out, China had its “people’s revolution.” Will Africa end up going all Red on us?
Russia will really be able to say “Not our fault. We’re not our grandfather’s Soviet Union.”
The China question was the same one now being posed about Africa. It’s always about the same question. Or used to be. Does the West invade and take the cheap natural resources it is running out of and so desperately needs?
At least the West used to have its eye firmly focused upon the goal. They just wanted the natural resources. Displays of power are just for show. This is what is going to destroy the West. It no longer has the “big stick.” And it talks like a girl. A hysterical schoolgirl and ugly drunk talking about vast reserves of natural resource — natural gas, real oil, real coal, minerals, rare earths — in “shameful abundance.”
“Fuck Africa?”
Look at what a queer (her word not mine), Megan Rapinoe has done to US Women’s Soccer. I saw her at this year’s 2023 FIFA World Cup and practically fell out of my chair. What happened to her? She’s old. Protesting and refusing to sing the national anthem is fine when you’re a young bit, but gets old real fast when you are quickly approaching 40 the hard way, and look like Rapinoe does.
Look at Victoria Nuland. She used to be a babe. Hard to believe. And Nancy Pelosi, too. If you look at her with JFK back in the very early 1960s; she used to be a busty hottie, with those doe eyes.
Power corrupts. That, and women cannot handle advanced citizenship. Add absolute power and you end up looking like a Sith Lord. Matter of fact has anybody ever seen a female Sith Lord? Maybe a Wicked Witch of the West. Maybe a Malevolence in Snow White. I’m sure Disney is looking into it.
The idea, if you are a woman, is to conquer the world and still look like Megan Fox in her starlet “Two and a Half Men” days. My eyes still hurt. “Dear God!” Hard to believe that was almost 20-years ago.
And you really don’t want to look like a 40-year-old Meghan Markle. Just too obvious.
It all becomes so obvious. That’s what is setting off Africa.
Well, not all women in power go to seed mentally and physically and irrationally like Nuland. I’m especially impressed by the straight-talking no-nonsense Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. She gets in a decently apt caustic observation about the West every now and then as well. Got the brains and smarts of Nuland and Pelosi added together, let alone the looks.
And her English is darn near flawless to boot. Just watched an old interview of her with some tit of an highly-impressed-with-himself American journalist name of John Heilemann. He thinks he’s hot sh!t, and got precisely nowhere — in fact, the Youtube video ends early, because he was just not making a go of the interview. Zakharova said she had all day to talk to him, and tried to get him to be precise in his literal babling accusations, and name situations and names. It was a shitshow he lost. He couldn’t name anything, the idiot. So, after eight minutes, CUT! Can’t have an American shown to be losing! America declares victory on the basis of nothing once again. Cool, that Maria.

Russia sending recently captured western weapons from Ukraine to Niger would give the operation a bit of deniability.
A current market analysis on global financial development between the major players by Tom Luongo

PS.:
Macron can only be advised to negotiate with Niger to increase uranium mining profit margins to 14-15%.
Currently, Niger receives a 3-6% profit margin for uranium mining from France.
This is an absolutely unfair deal.
France gets 70% of its electricity from AKWś.
If France fails as a supplier for the European electricity market, an energy crisis in the EU is on the cards.
Germany is dependent on electricity supplies from France.
The current situation describes why serious trouble is in store for the EU on many fronts.
An additional war in Africa accelerates the unhinging of the West.

What was it we said about Russia? It needs to be decolonized because it is the last of colonial powers?
It would be more honest to say that the Western colonial powers want to colonize Russia once and for all by cutting it into small peaces as they did in Africa. But honesty has never been the Wests strong suit.
Otherwise the West would be working on France, and only stop once they had freed the French colonies, including the French parts of Catalonia and the Basque country. Then they would have to continue with Spain, UK, US, and… what would actually be left of the the latter after decolonization?
I wish Niger the best of luck in decolonizing France. They will need it.
Yeah. The best answer (it seems to me, anyway) to the world’s problem with the (now only attempted) dominance of the US is to split it into five or six entirely separate countries. The landlocked(?) bit in the middle can inherit the US Navy. But seriously, this would at least allow the individual countries to evolve different and competing foreign policies (competition is the soul of capitalism, allegedly) based on the conservative or liberal majority in each. As Mao said: “Let a hundred flowers blossom”. And it might contribute to more diverse and non-imperial foreign policies from central North America.
Will the troops that France supposedly send be soldiers? I suppose it will send the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier that was launched when I was a teenager. The French rooster does not have spurs.
Muchas gracias por dejarme compartir mi opinión Don Larry
Trouble is it might use the French Paras or the Foreign Legion – neither unit is especially inferior in any respect…..
AFAIK it was those French units getting pulverized at Dien Bien Phu in Vietnam that drew the US into Vietnam?

Bonbon,
Agree with you, people have seen them perform in situations in which fight was totally one sided or in Hollywood propaganda flicks. At the end of the day they are all human, however much someone might want to believe that they are bulletproof. India’s HAWS ( High Altitude Warfare School) is pretty well known. US Seals came to train and the impression they left with the 9th Para guys wasn’t very flattering. Against 3rd tier opponents you can have the luxury of bottled mineral water and other bells and whistles.
Stan Goff, ex Delta guy wrote a book exactly about this. Full Spectrum Disorder: The Military in the New American Century. Good read.
Spot on article, Larry!
Crumbling France is heavily dependent on Niger’s free uranium; until now France was plundering the uranium nearly for free but now it seems to be over – it is not going well for the Palais de l’Élysée
Martin Sonneborn:
There is not a single active gold mine in France. Yet this (formerly) criminal colonial state has the fourth largest gold reserves in the world at 2,436 tons.
The (former) French colony of Mali has exactly 0.0 tons of gold, although it has several dozen mines (including 14 official ones) in the country, where a full 70 tons of it are mined per year.
P.S.: By the way, the Nigerien military government itself gives a first impression of its intellectual satisfactoriness. In response to the announcement by the U.S. that it would stop all aid payments to Niger, the regime – according to African sources – said that the democratic world leader would like to keep its aid and use it for the millions of homeless in the United States: “Charity begins at home.”
P.P.S.: Ibrahim Traoré (pictured) is not only Burkina Faso’s head of state, but a graduate of Ougadougou University and the local military academy, he is also a geologist and an officer. As the youngest and smartest head of state in the world, the 35-year-old therefore quite rightly threatens to become the beacon of hope of the (West) African uprising against neocolonialism and Western dominance. Traoré has also thrown French troops out the door and banned the export of gold and uranium to France and the United States, while forging a regional alliance with Niger, Guinea, Mali and Algeria.

There is not a single active gold mine in France. Yet this (formerly) criminal colonial state has the fourth largest gold reserves in the world at 2,436 tons.
So what is the point? There is a lot of active gold mines in Canada. Yet this (formerly) criminal state has no gold reserves whatsoever…
Large stash of gold in France has more to do with gen. De Gaulle who had guts to yank it from the hegemon before its default on gold obligations in ’71.
Ukraine coup good. Niger coup bad.
Now it all makes sense!
“Changin’ rules based order.”
Why making only one sense ?
Thanks for explaining and clarifying the issues!
Yes, this is a real test now between the global south and the colonist renters/looters.
Forget about removing masks, this is eyeball to eyeball shit. Niger and her many allies have the home advantage.
Ukraine’s relevancy will slowly disappear as Europe moves to stabilise 30% of its uranium from the jungle.
The US and NATO have been stripped of all respect and fear thanks to their own hubris and the might of Russia.
As a European, I see our only salvation is in negotiations and ultimately joining BRICS ++.
“to stabilise 30% of its uranium from the jungle.”
“As a European”
I really wish you had not written those words – the juxtaposition is a terrible indictment……
“Niger is in the heart of the Sahel, the transitional zone between the tropical West African coast and the Sahara Desert. Northern Niger is part of the Sahara, …”
If you can see “jungle” you are in the wrong country
The JUNGLE refers to our EU minister of foreign affairs, Mr Josep Borrel, who earlier this year made a statement about the garden of Europe.
I suggest you look it up, you then might have a better understanding of nuance and wit.
Listen to this while you’re looking up the speech he gave. By the way the sheriff is not from a western film.
https://youtu.be/jIOJn-wyATg
I understood the jungle reference but not “As a European, …” part. Belarussian? Moldovan? Hungarian? Bulgarian? French? Swiss? British? Polish? Irish?
Not all Europeans are created the same, and it seems that some of them are not even considered Europeans at all. That does not look like a good starting point for achieving “salvation in negotiations and ultimately joining BRICS ++”.
Since you are channelling Borrel I take your point……..
He is a bad choice considering he is Argentine-Spanish and Spain is so deep into the mire after Trump recognised Morocco as sovereign in Western Sahara……….that put Algeria on the warpath and they cut off gas supplies to Spain which US LNG was supposed to replace………..Morocco gets US weapons…….in return for recognising Israel – Trump’s obsession
Algeria turns to Russia and has huge shopping list for weapons…….$17 billion……and is third largest Russian weapons importer
So Spain is in a quandary as is Portugal in terms of energy security……….
Borrel is just the wrong man in that job
Who is Borrel, the waiter from Barcelona?
You missed that Eoin was referencing Josep Borrell’s infamous claim that “Europe is a garden … the rest of the world is a jungle.” Like him, I also think that we should leave the NATO garden and join the BRICS jungle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qth8WyzyWhc

“The Merry Minuet”
They’re rioting in Africa
They’re starving in Spain
There’s hurricanes in Florida
And Texas needs rain
The whole world is festering
With unhappy souls
The French hate the Germans
The Germans hate the Poles
Italians hate Yugoslavs
South Africans hate the Dutch
And I don’t like
Anybody very much
But we can be tranquil
And thankful and proud
For man’s been endowed
With a mushroom shaped cloud
And we know for certain
That some lovely day
Someone will set the spark off
And we will all be blown away
They’re rioting in Africa
There’s strife in Iran
What nature doesn’t do to us
Will be done by our fellow man
Brilliant! Sharing that!
Really sad, but yes, that’s the 2nd Front in WW III.
At this point we in the USA have to grow a pair, do our duty, and get rid of our Uni-Party, and our cabal of oligarchs. Remember the Wisdom of the Founders. I forget the exact quote, but I believe it’s from John Adams- something about treating all foreign nations equally and respectfully so that we in America can assure ourselves of Peace and Prosperity. I’d be grateful to anyone who posts that quote here.
As for the French, the Brits, et.al., they are nothing militarily. Through Wagner, the RF is giving a taste of its own medicine to the G7. If we step in to help them, it will only accelerate our descent. Let our European “allies” lose.
Force them to look into the mirror of their own history, and try to let them align that view with the BS guys like Borrel spew about EU values. It’ll be funnier than an Adam Sandler movie.
We need to fix our own problems …
Exactly and well put. Europe couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery and the US is equally useless. Time the west just gives up and goes with the flow.
This whole rebellion against the colonialists has been planned for many years if not decades. The west doesn’t do plans, just reactions.
France + EU + USA has BEEN STEALING RESOURCES from these Africa countries at VERY LOW PRICE.. and KEEP them BELOW POVERTY level (just like treating slaves to force them to work).. now Africa is STANDING UP and KICKING THESE THIEVES OUT.
They were waiting for someone strong to stand up to the bully. Going against Russia turned out to be dumb thing, yet again.
See, Biden was right.
“Biden calls white supremacy ‘most dangerous terrorist threat’ in speech at Howard”
Gee, I wonder when Iraq is going to join BRIC?
Why doesn’t the US military invade the war zones of Baltimore, Detroit, East San Louis, …
Be careful what to wish for!
Look what the US did to Raqaa in Syria.
Because they don’t want to lose a war on home turf.
The mistake that England, and the rest of the Anglosphere made, was in framing war as a morality play, and as a struggle for “democracy,” freedom and rights against tyranny. Or as a struggle between good and evil, or right and wrong. Instead of as a clash of national interests. Which war actually is.
The French, of course, copied the Anglosphere in regards to this. And so did many other countries.
Because they’re stuck with this narrative of pseudo- morality and law, they have essentially painted themselves into a moral/political/legal corner. They’re seen as hypocrites, whenever they haf to fight wars over plain national interests. Which don’t fit the narrative of defending “freedom and democracy,” or of good vs evil. At least “fighting communism” was a plausible excuse in in the 1950’s and 60’s, before it lost its credibility in Vietnam.
Before 1914, however, the powers went to war over national interests. And weren’t ashamed to say so. The British didn’t say that the Boers were evil, or that they were a threat to the “freedom and democracy” of England. Or were in violation of international law. No. They wanted the diamonds and gold of the Transvaal, and the Boers simply had to be got out of the way of Cecil B. Rhodes and the British miners, and the other Anglo settlers.
Uranium is a French national interest. The welfare and well-being of the people of Niger, is not; is what they would have said in the 19th, or even early 20th Centuries. Protection of European civilians is the only halfway viable excuse that they have left.
Hopefully Niger will pick Russia over China, for the mining expertise. At least the Russians will treat them fairly well, and advise them on what to charge France for the ores.
Just as some people use racism as their ace in the hole when they meet resistance, the US is a state sponsor of terrorism. Terrorism is the US ace in the hole. Whether it be in Africa or Ukraine, terrorism will be a plague in the indefinite future until the US is brought to its knees by its own hypocrisy and its folly within the sanctuary of terrorism: the US itself. The other members of NATO are merely slaves to the evil government of the US.
J.O., well you are right about what war is, or as the American philosopher once said “war is a wrong clashing with a greater wrong”. I would prefer to describe it as clash of “state” interests rather than “national” interests. American public did not want to become involved in either WWs one or two but Wilson and Roosevelt did. Nor in Vietnam, but members of the national security state did and eliminated JFK who had decided to pull out of Nam and was turning toward peaceful co-existence with the USSR.
“The mistake that England, and the rest of the Anglosphere made, was in framing war as a morality play, and as a struggle for “democracy,” freedom and rights against tyranny. Or as a struggle between good and evil, or right and wrong. Instead of as a clash of national interests. Which war actually is.”
USA came up with that. English were doing it for the Queen/King and the Empire. USA slaveowners were against “Queen/King and the Empire” (because they did not like paying taxes, or something like that), so they have to come up with their own shtick. That’s how we got all men are created equal stuff, not counting slaves, and those savage Indians, and everyone else that is not one of us, and the whole shebang. The end phase being LGBT (i.e. sodomy, and pedophilia, and all of the nasty stuff in the name of equality), is a bit unexpected, but not too much.
what can we do as citizens of the US to stop the insanity?
I write letters to members of congress that all go unanswered.
A letter to Santa has a higher chance of success.
Of course. They are perfectly happy to have you waste your time and energy. As far as the Deep State and the coup are concerned, that is their job. As long as there is no credible threat of violence, this coup is locked in. So much so the leaders are dropping the mask.
Something will happen. The Deep State has pushed support for boots on the ground in Ukraine up past 30%. The leadership is stuck believing its own propaganda – watching CNN etc… There is such a level of inability and dysfunction in the (mis)leadership – Zerohedge is great for that background – who can guess how long or soon it might collapse. Syria, Niger, add a few more and the West is toast.
Niger’s uranium was at the center of the fabricated “Italian Letter” which fraudulently portrayed Iraq as attempting to purchase yellowcake ore from Niger. It was central to Bush the Younger’s fabricated WMD intelligence.
That was British Prime Minister Blair’s , another dodgy dossier.
Gen. Colin Powell told associates he knew he was lying on camera – easy after lying about Mai-Lai.
Why use Thorium when Uranium can be had so cheaply from our indentured [aka – slave] colony?
As long as economic exploitation is so readily available, little human progress is possible.
Factoid: The waste/sequestered by product of “rare-earth” mining is Thorium. It must be treated as hazardous waste and stored. A saying comes to mind, “two birds, one stone”.
There is a planned gas pipeline to cross Niger to Algeria and make up for some of the missing Russian gas. However Algeria is supporting the new Niger military government.
The Niger military are very fed up because the deposed President was refusing to cooperate with neighboring governments that the EU & US doesn’t like. Burkina Faso and Mali are essential to successfully dealing with the Islamic extremists.
Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson (former Chief of Staff to the former and late Secretary of State Colin Powell, stated.
“If the counteroffensive by Ukraine’s armed forces finally fails, Ukraine may well be in danger of losing control of Odessa. This was stated in an interview with Dialogue Works by a U.S. military analyst, former Chief of Staff to former Secretary of State Colin Powell and retired Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson.
The expert assumes that Russian troops, having inflicted a defeat on Ukrainian forces in the direction of Zaporozhye and then Kherson, will be able to launch an offensive in the direction of Odessa and reach it. Then Ukraine loses the last major port on the Black Sea.
Wilkerson believes that the Kiev regime’s decision to launch a counteroffensive toward Zaporozhye has led to a real nightmare for Ukraine’s armed forces. The Ukrainian army suffered heavy losses in both personnel and equipment. This scale of losses only brings closer the further defeat of Ukrainian forces.”

Reality is slowly eating into the pseudo-warrior egos here and there.
And now another NATO-Africa Safari?
Then another China-Taiwan NATO canoe trip?
An ongoing Syria-NATO therapy.
When will they suffocate in their delusion and capsize?
Macron’s colonial propaganda has a knockout in Niger.
French news channels and radio stations have been banned in the country.
They have learned a lot from the West
The knowledge is now being used for patriotic coups.
My two cents: https://mikehampton.substack.com/p/is-the-cold-war-heating-up-africa
kind of a strange coincidence that this happens while wagner is undergoing a reorientation. Seems they focus on foreign territory again.
To me it looks like a tit for tat move from the russian side.
Like: ok france you are going to deliver scalp missiles to ukraine? Fine you can have some troubles in west africa.
Put it together with military excercises in other regions (syria & baltic sea e.g.)and the announcement by china to create a (spy?) base in cuba, then it seems china & russia have realized that this has become a global competition with nato and the west. They are beginning to go on the offensive.
It kind of makes sense from their perspective. When you realize your enemy cannot be negotiated with then you dont wait everytime for him to hit you. Because sometimes he will succeed (thailand i am looking at you).
Maybe the move with niger also is benefical for russia to create a league of nations for the energy market that band together to achieve more power & global standing. They could in theory also use this to put a tight economic grip over europe in the future – limiting energy alternatives.
A huge amount of weaponized Plutonium and Uranium was available after the last SALT arms limitation – Scott Ritter directly involved.
MOX fuel was adapted by Westinghouse for power.
Plenty more there if disarmament does and must continue.
And there are Thorium Reactor designs – Candu.
But best is to pursue Fusion, that thermonuclear fire that works only too well in weapons.
And sure enough there are many busy :
https://www.fusionindustryassociation.org/members
What is urgently needed is a Manhattan Program with massive credit, many approaches.
At Davos 2022 a warning of missing Ukrainian plutonium. This is the second time since the SMO, and I cannot believe IAEA has not already checked!!!
Mr Grossi added that the IAEA is seeking to visit Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station, under occupation by Russian forces, to verify that the 30,000 kg of plutonium and 40,000 kg of enriched uranium stored there have not been deviated for other uses.
https://www.iaea.org/newscenter/news/iaea-grossi-at-davos-nuclear-power-climate-change-and-ukraine
Missing is Uranium and Plutonium, around $300 billion. Likely removed by Russia. Question is, who enriched this – Westinghouse? Priority number #1 for Russia – no Ukrainian nukes that Zelensky suggested at the MSC Conference just before Russia acted.

Don’t understand why Gonzalo Lira didn’t evacuate to Russia-controlled regions in the south. Going to the Hungarian border was much more risky, I would infer.

on a serious note, there’s muslim and christian populations in that neck of the woods and due to the “peaceful” doctrines they follow, they are always ready to go for each others throats. The french had a sweet scam going on and, I guess, the Africans wizened up to that. So now the gloves (freedom, democracy, rules based order blah blah) come off. It’ll be the Americans and the french bringing the aforementioned virtues to Niger. Stay tuned, fun times ahead.

Several years back nuclear scientists in Iran(I think)
were murdered. I wonder if we will see western software
programmers meet the same fate. Some are just very valuable
and it does not seem a stretch a foreign government could order a hit. Disinformation people, ISR. satellite programmers. Facebook, Google…Intelligence operatives there?
@LJ , i suggest these trolls who posted OFF TOPIC nonsense here get reprimanded
some still trying to smear gonzalo lira with their ‘concern troll’ nonsense , some tried to post non related topic in this NIGER issue to derail the thread (classic hasbara 101 tactic)
thanks all for those who posted opinion and analysis on NIGER situation..
I find Russian involvement will come in form of Wagner , and highly possible Iran will also enter the theatre at least as weapons/drone provider. France military cannot deploy expeditionary forces and occupation in NIGER without US Logistic tail assistance and especially US Air Transport. The only short option for FRANCE is to use their covert operators and proxy local mercs , also possibly inciting chaos among civilians by creating violent demonstration and police ‘shooting’ incident ala Syria using CIA’s regime change playbook.
Curious which african nation offer safe air passage for Wagner troops and supplies along with russian military cargo and Iran military cargo entering the theatre.
i doubt china will get involved openly as they are always trying to be seen as neutral.
India is a lost cause , they are wedded to western MIC and their current top leadership and people are all western lovers who choose to side the US because they think india is superior than other nations in south west asia.
@ Buntalanlucu
You are like the Biblical God, raining hail and destruction on your “chosen” people, again and again. No rhyme or reason. So entertaining to see the mask finallycome off.
Let them kill themselves…if Wagner goes there target and eliminate them once and for all…if any refugees go north redirect them to RuZZia the responsible shithole…

Since this crisis involves Uranium,
https://www.thewaywardrabbler.com/p/the-last-domino-falls-in-the-sahel
points out that Niger produces 5% , and wants to sell it of course. Top 10 producers here :
https://investingnews.com/daily/resource-investing/energy-investing/uranium-investing/uranium-producing-countries/
As for Wagner, US Drone base, French, it is simply ridiculous to speculate.
Now back to reality – a real Sahel policy : The Transaqua Project gains momentum :
https://larouchepub.com/eiw/public/2017/eirv44n37-20170915/31-35_4437.pdf
Contrast this with the US, French military meddling and the onslaught of ISIS – it is obvious to anyone with 2 brain cells Transaqua is the target to prevent African development, in other words colonialism.
Any serious Africa policy must build on this Transaqua initiative, put on the table by Italy in the 1960’s.
How significant is Niger with respect to uranium reserves?
The following shows that:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_uranium_reserves
Australia is #1 with about 2M tons.
Niger is way down the list with about 440K.
Canada has 873K.
Russia has 660K.
The U.S. has 100K.
Again, this is reserves.
Not clear why Niger is so important.
Niger is part of the Sahel, good maps at links above.
And Sahel is about a huge Africa Development called Transaqua which China is also involved in.
Colonialism means stopping Transaqua at any cost.
And Transaqua is about water and electricity, the 2 most important Sahel deficits.
So a country Niger mostly dry is all about water.
Colonial powers would for sure use the bogey-man Uranium to AGAIN smash up the place.
It’s not about Niger, nor Uranium. Once the dominoes start falling, there’s no stopping them. They are in danger of losing all the colonies.
There was a time when the USA thought BIG – FDR’s TVA Tennessee Valley Authority took the poorest region out of poverty.
China’s 3 Gorges Dam is directly based on this.
The Transaqua Sahel Program is pure TVA scaled up, and of course China is directly involved.
Instead of pragmatic baloney, meddling, realize Africa is HUGE, huge problems require MAJOR strategy.
Report on Transaqua 2022 from Larry Freeman :
Nigerian Water Minister Promotes Transaqua–A Water Project to Save Lake Chad & Transform Africa

Niger shares Lake Chad with Nigeria as well.
No info yet on what the Niger crisis says about this…
We need to speak the truth at last.
America needs to do something about the destruction Soros and WEF are doing to America. Stop everything and let’s revise this corporations are like people bullshit.
So if corporations are like people and people get taxed at their gross income level, why the hell are corporations get taxed at the net income level.
In 2019, there was 44.7 billion credit card transactions with 670k fraudulent transactions, including theft and ID theft. That is a fraud rate of 0.0014 %. So how come the US Unity party system can’t put in place a system that requires a biometric match when one votes?
When a system has a chronic error, one must start realizing it is not a flaw, it is a feature.
Look at who is taking every top level position in the Executive and the Deep State.
“Those who pin their hopes on logic and reason prevailing to cool tensions and provide for a diplomatic solution might as well hope to capture a mastodon trotting across the Nigerien desert. Ain’t going to happen.”
You sound so sure, Larry. I live in Africa and I cannot really say what will happen.
You can not really say that there will be more wars?
